The Marlowe Restaurant and Wine Bar Review

I'm looking forward to returning. Started with a Caesar salad which was a great starter. Ordered the squash ravioli which were AMAZING!!! Perfectly cooked, perfect amount, amazing dish! My friends had the chicken which were also amazing. Overall food was A+! A little bit more fine dining. Plating was very nice as well.

The ambiance is very nice. They have dancing later in the evening on the weekend. 30+ crowd. Top 40 music.

Will definitely return.

Last Saturday I had a surprise birthday party for my wife along with 30+ friends and family at the Marlowe s in Richmond Hill. Alison, the event planner at Marlowe s was a great help in planning and putting together a custom menu for us. The party went off without a hitch. Simone and her fellow servers were very professional and handled all requests with ease. The food was excellent. Everyone in our party commented on how tasty the pizza, pasta and salad choices were. I would definitely recommend an event at Marlowe s.

Delicious food, friendly staff, lots of wine choices. We enjoyed our staff Holiday dinner there tonight. I would return. Nice ambiance.

This had to be one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had.
My boyfriend and I went here last week for dinner. First, we were greeted by an unfriendly hosted and a man dressed in a sweater and toque that told my boyfriend to take his hat off. This is a request that would have been respected if it wasn't coming from a man in a hat himself. Also, for a restaurant that upholds such a dress code, their washroom was absolutely disgusting!! Smelt terrible, there was toilet paper all over the floor, and a dirty sink.
Our server was not very friendly, took a long time to greet us and bring our drinks.
My boyfriends soup came out barely warm at all. Our server was happy to fix this but when it came back (only slightly warmer) it was obvious that they simply through it in the microwave because the pepper that my boyfriend put into it was visible. Lastly, the main dishes were nothing better than OK. For the prices and the atmosphere they are trying to uphold, they should really work on their customer service and cleanliness. Will not be returning here.

If you have never eaten here, you really should! The food is equivalent if not better then the keg , staff is awesome, atomphere after dinner is unbeatable on weekends. Always a mature crowd! They have a manager named Tim, who goes beyond what is required of himself every time I am their. I would say he's the best manager the GTA has ever seen! I love this place to be honest. Wish I live in the area I would go their more often

Arrived for 8. Party of 30, they had us seated on 4 separate tables. Other large groups were seated today. We had to wait around to be seated 20minutes.. they didn t take our drink orders until an hour later, we had a set menu didn t take our food order until 9:30.. we didn t eat until past dinner. We couldn t order any drinks because of the wait time. Steak was supposed to be served medium as per their set menu.. it was rare .. almost blue. The service was terrible and slow. We had to go to the bar to get our own drinks. They didn t deserve the set gratuity. My guests were so angry. It pretty much ruined my mood for my birthday.

The lamb shank was amazing and the risotto was really good. Our server Amina was really nice and helpful!

If there was a worst service button I would hit it over and over again. The waiter first ignored our friends. Then he dropped a dirty knife on us. Then ketchup on me. He accused me of not paying attention. Worst restaurant ever

The WORST RESTAURANT I have ever been to. We spent the whole day traveling and were very hungry when we got there. The place was almost empty should have been our first red flag. The service was awful it took half an hour just to get drinks. We told the waitress multiple times that we wanted a bread basket or SOMETHING while we waited for our appetizers, but after 45 minutes she still didn t bring anything. One of the bartenders saw us trying to decide if we should leave and brought over some empty plates trying to stall. Finally, we decided to settle up the drink bill (cocktails took 30 minutes) and leave. Nearly an hour after we arrived, no food, no bread, just lukewarm tap water with no ice. The bartender who brought the empty plates kept saying oh, were you waiting a long time? after I repeatedly told her it had been more than an hour. Ridiculous. We walked across the parking lot to Moxie Grill and had one of our best meals ever. DO NOT EAT AT MARLOWE S!!!!

We ordered chicken pasto pizza balsamic chicken and Newyork steak was amazing steak was juicy and tender pizza done nicly and crispy Our waitres Amina was very friendly help us what food item choose from menu very knowledgeable and recommended to have an apple tart for our desert MMMM was sooo good

I decided to leave a review on our second visit to the restaurant. Pleasant and attentive service & good food (top steak). Beautiful restaurant.

Service was top shelf, Amenia was our server and was amazing so was the food.

Steak sandwich is great. One drawback is they should improve the air circulation. I kinda smell of washroom from time to time.

Oh boy I don't even know how to start this review!
Ordered the Oscar steak and here is a quick overview of this dish; grilled steak, blue king crab meat, and few veggies on the side.

To start with the steak it was cold chewy and the seasoning has nothing to deal with a steak and how it should taste. The crab meat was nowhere to be found and I'm still trying to figure where it was haha. The veggies were tastles. Mashed potato was alright but quantity is minimal.

The dish was $36.99 which makes writing this review even harder. I do not recommend this place at all.

We complained and we got free lava cake and what we got was frozen version of "lava" cake. We left disappointed and we paid over $200.

Amazing food and service. The waitress Amina was very polite and attentive but at the same time gave us our space. I can t stand waiters/waitresses that keep hounding you through your meal.

A lot has changed ........ the food, the service, and the atmosphere, has significantly upgraded. Orders were taken efficiently, and food and drinks arrived quickly despite the restaurant being very busy. The steaks were done to perfection, the desserts were mouth watering! I will for sure go back! Bonus the restaurant caters for gluten-free...

Start out by saying the food itself is delicious, very well cooked, and ingredients are fresh. Portions are somewhat small considering the price but the value is definitely there in the taste and quality. The quality of food is this establishments strength.

Menu has a solid amount of choices. Vegetarian AND vegan friendly items.

Service: spotty. At the high price tag, the level of service is no where near what it should be. A premium price for a typical, if not a sub par, service level.

The crowd this place attracts on a Saturday night is notable but not in a good way. If you re with your family or partner and the chairs start clearing for dancing that s the cue to leave. As they do provide an excellent job towards music and dancing the certain lurking individuals that come for it are sleazy and that s being nice. But this is based on the individuals perspective. If you re looking to pickup in the Richmond Hill area (single or not single) this is a recommendation.

All in all food is great to say the least just leave expectations for anything else at the door. As I do wish it was a bigger portion, I recommend the filet mignon.

Marlowe is one of the best restaurant in Richmond Hill, Ontario! Amina is very helpful assisting us in making the food selection! Must try and we will be back with our group next week!

Good food, Cajun Shrimp and Salmon is must have at this place.. good for a casual lunch or dinner. Crowded usually on weekends.

On Saturday night, four of my girlfriends and I went to Marlowe for dinner and were severely disappointed in the experience. We were ignored for 20 minutes before someone came to take our drink order. My white wine arrived with a big red stain on the side of the glass. When I asked the waiter for a new one, he took my wine back to the bar, and my friends clearly saw him pour the same wine into a new glass. I think it would have been classier for him to give me a new glass and fresh wine. I had the salmon, which was really overcooked, and the veggies it came with were boiled and flavourless. I substituted the rice for truffle fries, but barely ate them. Again, they weren't seasoned properly and were definitely not worth the calories. We were ignored for substantial periods of the night (to be fair, there was a big birthday event happening the same night and they didn't seem to have enough staff to handle the birthday party and the section surrounding it). When the meal was over, we requested separate bills, and there were mistakes on each bill. For us to be forgotten about so many times and for all of these mistakes to be made, it felt like we weren't valued as customers. Not what you want to feel when you're out with friends on a Saturday night.
On a positive note, when we were kicked out of our booth (because someone else had reserved it from 10 pm onward) another host/waiter kindly seated us at another table and provided much more prompt service. I guess you take your chances when you go to Marlowe now...

Worst service I've ever seen, our waitress had an attitude towards us asking questions about the dishes. Peach Bellini drink was watery and tasted nothing of peach. It really is a shame that my experience is so poor when the food was decent because of our server. Filet mignon was tender and juicy but I couldn't handle the attitude of our server.

We always have a fun time here. The food, music and crowd are usually quite enjoyable. Revised July 1, 2020 as they have a large big patio and they're open late. Thanks

We had the party with our company. It is very long waiting time to get somebody to order the meal and after we were waiting long time to get the food. Also bad and rude service. Cold soup and unprofessional service. Soup was served with tea spoon and no even bread or buns.

We have been to Marlowe a few times now and can confidently say the food and atmosphere is always excellent. While the service hasn t always been on par, our waitress Amina tonight has been fabulous - every course was served with a smile, and the food was fantastic as expected.

Sam is very sweet! We kept takimg his spot because it was busy but he gave up his spot. Bartender was very accommodating even though it was busy he gave us drimks in the middle of a rush.

Had dinner here with my family for Mother s Day. We all loved our food and the ambiance. The highlight of our night however was our server Yuri. His service was excellent, he was so friendly, accommodating, and so funny!! He left such an impression on all of us and made the evening so memorable and fun. Thank you Yuri for your amazing service!

Went for a friend's sweet 16 tonight and have to say the service literally left the birthday girl in tears. We arrived for dinner at 6:30 in which we were seated right away, although the atmosphere was plain and there was no sort of music playing. We proceded to order our food, my friend filet mignon which was over priced, dry and not cooked correctly. The bathrooms smelt raunchy, were small, and dirty. We did enjoy the pizzas, but have to say food was very mediocre for the price. The entire experience was displeasing, have to say I will not return.

Hosted both my engagement party and bridal shower at Marlowe's on a Saturday for brunch. Couldn't have asked for a better location!!! Beautiful ambiance and right off the highway for those having to travel a bit. We actually had the whole restaurant to ourselves - which they do private functions on the weekends during the day. Zero complaints - everything went smooth and well. The staff that worked were a great group! The head server Yuri was making sure everything was going as planned. The whole wait staff were always available to help, answer questions and provide awesome service - and that goes for all staff, the cook at the omelette station included! Definitely recommend Marlowes!

I called on Thursday, May 4, 2017 to reserve a table for 20 for my best friend's surprise engagement party being held on Saturday, May 6, 2017. Hillary and Britney were great! They were both kind, courteous, and prompt in getting back to me. I speak on behalf of my party when I say, we ALL had an absolutely AMAZING time!!! The food was great and the serving staff (Paulina and Anton), were efficient and kind. Britney is a great manager, very friendly and sweet! She was so busy that night but still took the time to come talk to me a couple of times. Keep up the great work guys! :)

Went here on a Friday night for a birthday gathering. Our server was very helpful and came by multiple times to ask for our orders. We did not need to flag him down. I ordered the butternut squash ravioli and it was good. The sauce they use is creamy and it s cheesy. It was still flavourful nonetheless. Also had a Shirley temple which was the usual. Their dance floor opened up around 10pm and there was quite a crowd. There was still a good amount of space for everyone on the floor. When we were leaving we noticed a sign for a cover fee. I m assuming if you eat there, you don t pay the cover but anyone coming just for the dance floor may have to. Would go back!

My friend had her bridal shower here and this place makes for one classy shower! (Easily the fanciest shower I've ever been to.) We were served two courses - choice with salad/soup and choice of main course of fish/steak/chicken. There was another party as well going on in the restaurant but we barely noticed them. It says they're closed Sundays but I guess that's for private functions then. Lovely staff and great atmosphere too. Definitely consider them for both a special event and for regular dining (I've come on a weeknight with a friend and the patio was fantastic). Glad to have been here!

This is our first time to visit this place, nice venue, more parking space and food except the music he always played the music that never understand and more rap which is sometimes its not appropriate in the dance floor, if he played English music as soon in the middle of the song he cut it off and change what he likes.I think it s better to survey the customer if they really dancing and enjoying or they just standing waiting for good music. One of my friend requesting the title of the music but he never play. I always go to the bar and disco that s why I have an idea about music remix but this one it looks like more on his country music and his age. He needs to open minded what is the majority age go for dancing and how they adapt the music and new songs. My friend went for dinner around 8pm but the food serve almost 10pm and around 12 midnight even still has a food in the plate there starting tidy up they look like in the hurry. That s only my suggestion so that your customer satisfied especially people love to dance.

My boyfriend and I decided to give Marlowe a try for the first time last Saturday night. I opted for the salmon which to my surprise was done quite nicely and not over cooked as they usually are. Kesha was our server... she provided punctual service without being overbearing and was friendly. Will definitely be coming back in the near future!

Booked a table for a party of 20 weeks in advance with their "event coordinator". Upon arrival was told they only had patio available and that we had to wait for one inside. Reservation was made for 8pm we only got sat at 8:45!!! They didnt try to accomdate us while waiting in the front, manager avoided coming up to us, and didnt even check in or apologize once we were sat. Absolutely disappointed at their level of service.

Had a great night. Good foot and beautiful ambiance. One of my favorite spots north of Toronto

Love the patio during these days , I definitely enjoyed the truffle Pasta , sooo yummy , also love the pomegranate raspberry cocktail, perfect , the only point that I need to mention is about one of the waiters , he has to been told to wear his mask correctly , his nose was out of the mask ! Lol

I ordered the chicken alfredo when I went yesterday night and substituted the chicken with shrimp. I had some leftovers that I got packed. By the time I was leaving, I felt really uncomfortable in the stomach area. I passed that off thinking that maybe I ate too much. It took a while for it to settle down after. I ate the rest of the pasta today and now I m having an upset stomach again. This clearly speaks to the quality of your food and that you definitely used some expired product(s). Never visiting again!

Server forgot to put in our mains, and the pita had mold. They offered to buy us dessert.

The service is good the food is not that good and McDonalds fries test better than their fries and you can't even test the cheese on the fries

I had my 50th birthday celebration on Dec 30th, 2016 at the Marlowe restaurant for 60 people. I booked the mezzanine room which was adjacent to the dance floor. Without a doubt the venue and staff are fantastic. Steven, the sales manager, was extremely helpful in making all the arrangements prior to the event. He was very accommodating and professional. The food prices were fair, and the quality was superb. My guests were very happy.

On the night of the event, The Marlowe, dedicated two staff members just for my event. Yuri and Paul were great. Very attentive and accommodating to all my guests. Even the restaurant security team were very polite and friendly.

We checked all the bars and restaurants in the area and none offered the value and ambiance the Marlowe offered. Thank you.

It feels like this is the first night they ever ran a restaurant. It is the worst. Our server is good despite what she is up against. If you want a cool night, this is not the place.

The food was a lot, and tastes ok.
While the glasses and dishes are kinda dirty, you could see the oilly thing at the edge of the plates and on glasses.
Overall service was good, but The lady served our table wasn t very nice, not sure if it s because we used Groupon.

I recently went to Marlowe for a night out with my friends. We were seated right away and the service was very good throughout the night. The food was also delicious! I definitely recommend this place and would go there again. The music is great and it's a fun time!

I took some out of town clients here for dinner and paint night - what an absolute hoot! Awesome food, terrific service and a quinoa and spinach dinner that had me wanting seconds. Paint night was equally great..I mean who can really paint after 5 glasses of wine?

Food was delicious. Presentation was perfect. Service was friendly and efficient (thanks Amina). If you haven't been in a while, you definitely need to try again.

We hosted a bridal shower at Marlowe's. We had 48 guests who were amazed at the lunch that was
Provided. The service was excellent from the time the orders were taken and delivered to every guest with precise timing. I have yet to meet a better team that Marlowe's put forward for our event. We had several guests from all over Toronto, Barrie, Wasaga, Burlington who commented they would be back again for the delicious food. Special thanks to the organizing staff and entire team for making this a very special event for my daughter. Prices were reasonable, staff were very courteous and helpful.

Very poor management style. Promised a spot close to entertainment while booking but when actually visited the place the spot was quite far and remote.

The staff told us tables are given in order of reservation, and first come first serve basis.
My question is this: i had specifically asked while doing reserving over the phone that I wanted a table close to the dance show. And i was told that it is a good spot. When I called on the day off to confirm they will be holding my table, they specifically reminded me about the dance show starting at 9 and I confirmed my good table arrangement. Only when I went there I found that I can't even see the dance floor to know there is one let alone a good view of entertainment to call it "good spot." Why was I misinformed all along?

unfortunately when we got there, we were given seats as far as possible from the live show. Quite insulting especially after speaking to staff many times to confirm so many times about a good seating arrangement and the staff confirmed everytime.

If anyone is going for live entertainment while fine-dinning (ps: it is not a fine dinning ambience), this is not your place.
Staff responses are derogatory and lacks customer service.

I know this place since it opened in 2007 and been there tens of times including last year NYE party. However you should be aware that since new owners and management took over, the quality of food and drinks has gone down... big time....last time we had ice and water served as cocktails, and cheap flat beer served as Stella Artois ... we left in a hurry and never looked back... your money, your choice

Went for lunch today as a recommendation from a colleague and it did not disappoint! My cheeseburger was amazing, the beer (Goose Island IPA) was cold and tasty, and the service very professional and courteous!

I held my birthday here on January 12, 2019. And it was absolutely terrible. The server was horrendous and unprofessional. He mixed up orders, brought out meals over an hour later, and didn t even apologize for his own mix-ups. Cherry on the cake, he accused several people at our table of making attempts to leave without paying...when they were just getting up to dance. A table of legal professionals are not going to walk out on a bill. I called the next day to complain and they said management would get back to me. NADA. Now planning another birthday, I remembered this horrible experience and don t want anyone else to have such a bad experience, especially on their birthday.

So the reason for he low review is this place markets itself as a fine dining establishment and really it isn't.
Cons: food is really not that good. It's expensive but is low chain restaurant quality. Wine is overpriced for the types of winr they are (15 dollar bottles marked up to 47 dollars). Went thursday and the server was very obviously spread thin. Food took forever to come out and really wasn't impressive. We went on half priced wine day and ordered a couple of bottles but there a only a few on special and not very good ones. The problem is the location and within walki g distance theres at least 3 other restaurants far superior to this one. So no would not recommend.
Pros: very beautiful restaurant and a proper crowd.

I didn't like the food (it came almost cold) and the service was slow and haphazard. Very noisy in the evening.

The event planner is great and all but the restaurant and service is terrible. Def. wouldn't waste my time here again. The nightlife isn't that great especially for their price point. The DJ was the worst. Came in with a group of 20. More than half left right after dinner due to the "DJs" performance or lack of.

I doesn't even serve a star. It was a terrible night, the workers here were very rude to me and the people invited. Not only that but they were unable to provide what was ordered and the second option would have taken way to long to be served. They could not handle the amount of people coming and over all me and the people invited were treated and spoken to poorly.
I couldn't get the name of the bold guy. If he's the manager he's the worst in treating people. He screamed at me saying that I was the one who was screaming and I was pointed at him.

Very beautiful restaurant, very clean, kind staff, yummy food. We tried fish tacos and dessert. Nice space for a party as well. Patio is very cool too but it was too cold to sit outside.

My office had our Christmas lunch here today. The food was delicious, the service quick and staff friendly and attentive. The decor is nice and simple and lots of natural light. Very nice choice by our boss, what a treat.

Went here for dinner with a colleague and enjoyed the seafood linguine. The food was truly delicious. Our server Jenna was awesome. She helped us choose our wine which was also great. Jenna was extremely knowledgeable on the wine listings and very personable. She made our dinner experience enjoyable. Definitely recommend this place and ask for Jenna.
