The LA zoo is fantastic on many levels. it's a working zoo with many success stories. There are always i.provements being made. The hilly terrain makes walking the zoo a great form of exercise. Special tours for members are a real treat, and memberships are affordable.

Poor customer service I came with my family from Arizona and informed the lady at the entrance the ages of my kids but because my kids are tall for their ages she was rude and stated that next time my kids have to pay the adult price

My day at the Los Angeles Zoo was so much fun I've been there twice this year and both times were great. Umm the only thing that kills me about this place is that knock off cookie monster making they children happy and the adults suspious he askes for a small tip after the picture just because he is a freelander. He has a beat down costom that looks as if he got dropped off in the hood and drop off at the Los Angeles Zoo again.

This review is for the LA Zoo Lights event: Came here expecting a festive atmosphere and wasn't TOO disappointed. The music playing over the speakers wasn't Christmas-themed, though. The only animals out were the reindeer and the L.A.I.R. animals - the reptile house was incredibly packed. It was basically a bunch of Christmas light strewn over the foliage in a zoo. Overall a little disappointing.

Excellent display of animals and very clean, however, the layout of the Zoo is awful. Expect to go around in circles to look for various animals and bring your walking shoes. There were some animals I really wanted to see but unable because they couldn t be found in the terrible layout. Sad to say I wouldn t go back nor would I suggest people to go there. The San Diego Zoo has a much better layout and map system.

They didn't let us purchase a ticket because we got there at 4:30 pm and they close at 5:00

I really loved this place, it brought the child out in me! We attended here with our nieces and nephews. Very big zoo, I absolutely loved the petting zoo. My top favorite are the Gorillas, Elephants and Chimps. We were able to get really close and interact with the animals. Amazing experience.

I loved this place. Although many of the food places were closed others were open. Assess to enclosures were easy even for buggies. We spent the entire day here. Only negative was map was a bit confusing.

Nice zoo. It's not huge, easy to navigate, and clean. Recommend getting here early not only to beat the crowds but it seems more animals are out early vs later in the day. We we're able to see alot of animals and when we were heading out I noticed that same ones that were out earlier went into hiding or taking a nap and no longer visible.

The zoo is GORGEOUS! I was looking forward to seeing the elephant the most & they came out as I walked up &I swear it seemed like they knew I was taking pictures. I got a good show of poses out of one &a little shyness from the other. There was one elephant off in a different area, he seemed sad & lonely, which isn't surprising, all he had was one "toy" to keep him busy. The chimps just so happened to have a huge fight when we went by them. It was amazing, none of the fighting could be seen bcus they went behind a wall but you could hear the screaming & all the other chimps got rowled up! Oh & there were babies

Full family fun! Great staff, wonderful care of the animals and an awesome place overall. Beer for adults, parks for kids, and cool stuff for teens. Covers it all. Will return in the future.

Very much enjoyed this zoo! Went with my girlfriend as we just moved to the area together and had a great time. It s a large zoo and is laid out nicely so you can see everything by walking in a circle. There s a variety of animals and mammals large and small to see and I thought it was a great way to spend a day with family or friends.

Los Angeles Zoo aren't the manicured, organized gardens one finds at the Huntington or the Arboretum. Instead, they're meandering, sometimes messy. There's something sweet and low-brow about Los Angeles Zoothat's simple and relaxing. Sometimes you can watch people who've set up easels painting the pops of color amid scrubby indigenous plants, sometimes the featured attraction is watching kids chase butterflies, and sometimes it's a small art exhibit. No matter the activity (or lack of one), Los Angeles Zoo is always a restful, restorative place to spend an afternoon and Angelenos are fortunate to have it in our back yard.

The exhibits seem pretty run down. Not much character to the park. No snow leopard, black bear, jaguar, hippos. Most places only had one animal. Not much shade. I debated about going to san diego but wanted to go somewhere closer but not sure if it was worth it. Lots of walking between exhbits.

The carousel ride was nice, cool animals to sit on. Parking was plenty.

If you able to go to san diego zoo, i think youll enjoy it much better. If you been to the woodland zoo in seattle, the woodland zoo is way better. If you need an afternoon to kill this may be ok for little kids.

I like the zoo as there is a sizeable amount of stuff to see close to me. They have become more popular through the years as they created the new exhibits such as the LAIR and the rainforest. I enjoy watching the bird show the most as you will be seated on an elevated position looking down at the birds at the theater and them flying over your head.

We decided to visit the zoo for my youngest daughter. The day was perfect and our daughters had a blast, unfortunately the weather changed and it started to rain and got cold quickly. Overall everyone had a great time and this will be a future destination with the family.

Great place to roam with your toddler and kids. Lots of beautiful plants too. The animals start to go inside at 4:30pm, so plan your day before that. The restaurant near the gift shops has the best fresh food.

A lot of my friends were telling me the LA Zoo was lame, so I decided to check it out on a whim. I was very pleasantly surprised. It s a nice mixture between botanic gardens and zoo. I would recommend visiting if you have a few hours to wander around, enjoy the animals and gardens. Despite being right outside of downtown LA, it truly feels as though you are in the middle of nowhere.

A great day. Lots of walking up and down hills. Wear your comfies. Didn't get through the whole park. But enjoyed the animals we were able to see. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Went on a Thursday. Not crowded at all.

Different animals. You'll forsure see an animal you have never seen before and also some of your favorites.. It's super cool too if you like to walk because it's such a huge habitat. But i felt like Elephants that they had there got smaller cages from the last time I came.. Theres also a spot where you could feed giraffes which i found so great. its $5 tho but oh well..

Came here at night for the Zoo lights for the first time and it did not disappoint at all. It was beautiful, very organized with pre sale ticket lines and gate entry tickets. Once it opened we were able to see everything in about an hour and a half. I would definitely go back. The churros were good too !

I have been coming to the LA ZOO since I was a kid. Over the years they hardly change anything to no changes at all. It just remains the same layout of where and what limited animals they have to show for. I hope when I go to the LA ZOO they have the majority, if not all, their animals to be there, but instead you will get to see 40% or so of their animals.

I don't know why they don't upgrade the park by expanding it with the amount of extra land there is.

Also, for them to charge what they do for admission and the food that is limited and over priced, it has to be better.

The boys had a blast they were able to feed the giraffes and see all their favorite animals. We went early enough to see the animals before they tend to sleep in hard to see places due to the heat.
