We live locally and wanted to go out for a birthday. Had been here previously under old management but had since heard good things since the new family took over. We booked over facebook which was completely painless (booking is highly recommended) and visited on a sunny Sunday lunchtime. The short answer is - this is the best place we've been to locally this year. Everything from menu choice to quality to location to friendliness of staff was top notch. Can't wait to visit again and would heartily recommended the lazy trout to everyone. Well done.

We booked a table for a family of 10 and 2 dogs following a walk around the local reservoir.
We requested the dog friendly area as we have visited previously and are aware that this is a dog friendly pub.
Our experience today was amazing. The food was fabulous.... proper pub home cooked grub... nothing was too much for the waitresses who were busy around the pub and then when a member of the family unfortunately fell ill, the staff stepped up and supported us until she was well enough to leave. This in my opinion is above and beyond and means so much.
The review is 5star without the extra mile just for the food and drinks choice!
Just wish you were closer to our home !
Well done Lazy Trout - don t ever change!

We always have a great meal and delightful service at the Lazy Trout. It has what must be one of the most spectacular views in England to enjoy a pint outside if the weather allows! We run a holiday let nearby, and recommend the Lazy Trout to all our guests, and they always give us consistently great feedback too.

Great village pub, close to the Roaches and Tittesworth reservoir.
Very clear about current rules and decent priced clean place with plenty of outdoor seating.
If you are in this area for any reason nio in for a pint (the food looked OK, but we were not eating)

Had a beautiful 3 course meal for my partners birthday recently, and the measures they have in place during these unsure times are brilliant (they have a button system on each table- it's awesome!) Thank you so much for our brilliant evening!

First time in the Lazy Trout and the food was absolutely insane. Attempted the Pasture-fed Angus Burger and it was the tastiest burger I have ever experienced, seasoned to perfection with some hearty homemade slaw, salad and chips. Starters were amazing too.

Highly recommended. Going to go for the steak next time around

Christmas Day Dinner, even with two sittings the young staff did exceptionally well under pressure, behind the scenes I gave no idea but I am it was very hard work .The food was of a very good standard , vegetables were cooked perfectly. Can't fault anything, starter main and sweet all good .I can honesty say on the many visits I have never been disappointed. They have a great team particularly not forgetting the Chef and his team.Great .

Nice little traditional looking pub with a pleasant atmosphere and a real fire. Was very busy when we went but service was still good and speedy. Interesting selection of items on the menu with a decent number of veggie options. Food was excellent and well priced and I really enjoyed my visit. Will definitely come again!

The best pub for miles around. From the moment you walk into the pub and feel the real world village atmosphere to the amazing food that they serve up at all time of day. It's our favourite in the whole of this area in the Peak District. Highly recommend you visit. And take your dog... ,

5 real ales on draught, loads of Sunday lunch going out. Good range of fuzzy beer for the lager drinkers. Lovely atmosphere. Exposed stone work and funk on the stereo. All sorts of locals and day trippers, walkers, runners in. Recommended.
