The Lazy Trout is very popular--and for good reason. With stunning garden views of the Roaches, it is a great place to recover from a hike with good beer (or whatever tipple you prefer) and excellent food. We visited on a Sunday and a lot of tables were reserved so consider if you intend on eating. We got lucky and managed to bag a table between two reservations. Both the chicken liver pate and deep fried halloumi starters were delicious but the real star of the meal was the beef Sunday dinner. The tastiest beef I have had in a very long time (local cattle) and excellent seasonal vegetables. Giant Yorkshire pudding and tasty gravy and you couldn't ask for more.
The building itself has old cosy charm and all the staff were very lovely and professional. Excellent pub!

Friday afternoon lunch. Very much happened across this as bellies started to rumble on our way to Leek for an overnight stay. Car park was busy which was enough to call us in and that call was answered with aplomb. Lovely pub with great character and a lovely menu. So much to choose from though we erred on the side of caution (light bites) as dinner wasn't too far into the evening. Cajun chicken ciabatta and thrice cooked chips was great as was the selection of cask ales to wash it down. Service with a smile, the perfect accompaniment to a hearty meal and we were on our way again with every intention to call again.

Visited July 2018:
I stopped here for a quick drink whilst walking around the reservoir with my 1 year old.
I was quite excited about having a cold cider during the hot summer of 2018.

We went outside to sit in the sun and tried to find somewhere half decent to sit. The beer garden is so unappealing. I found a bench and struggled to find any part where my son could crawl around in the grass. I literally drank up within one minute and left as I was worried about the potential of broken glass amongst the dirt.

I had lunch here following a recommendation from a friend. The Lazy Trout did not disapoint. A warm, friendly and traditional pub set in the countryside. Titisworth is just down the road and a great place to go for a walk and the surrounding hills and countryside is well worth the journey, all of which can be enjoyed from the inside of the pub or, on a warmer day, from the outside in the pubs garden.
The staff are very friendly, welcoming and easy going, so it was very easy to relax.
The food and drink is reasonably priced and the menu caters for nearly everyone.
The food was very tasty and, because i dont like mushypeas with my fish and chips, they were more than happy to substitute this.
I highly recommend the Lazy Trout and I look forward to returning.

Not tried the food yet as we just popped in for a pint and a breather after scrambling round the roaches. The staff were very good. The menu has good choices and seemed reasonably priced. The beer was excellent with a good choice of real ales. Will be going back for food in the near future.

Wow! Having stumbled across this pub months ago we went for our first meal with family. We were not disappointed. The food was delicious, the staff were extremely attentive and very friendly. Great buzzy atmosphere with fantastic views thrown in for good measure, we will definitely go again! As it is extremely popular always best to book in advance to make sure you get a table.
You will not be disappointed here 10/10 easily.
