Lovely cakes. Generous servings. Would have awarded 4 stars if cutlery wasn't single use plastic :(
It's a hit or miss here... Always a great selection of food and drink beverages but taste and cleanliness is always a hit-or-miss. But taste and cleanliness is always a hit or miss the place is always so busy great little go to especially in the winter
Great food here. Efficient staff. Great local place to go when we are in the area.
Pretty decent spot. Bit pricey food is above average
independent deftly owned restaurant/bakery with a warm, unpretentious, homey vibe.
Used to be amazing. They switched up their gluten free bread and it s not edible. I was embarrassed to eat this sandwich in front of my friend because of what a crumbly mess it was. Thank goodness it wasn t a date. I ended up eating the inside of the sandwich with a fork and knife sans bread. Considering how expensive it was and paying extra for gluten free, it was a disappointment for sure. Won t be back.
A bit on the pricier side, but there's still cheap options if you don't want to spend much. Delicious food and a pleasant atmosphere. Love coming here.
Fun little factory turned coffee shop. Fantastic baked goods, and good coffee. Perfect for a walk by the river.
Old looking. Asked for my eggs poached medium on my Eggs Benedict and got them slimy and yolks uncooked. Fruit that came with meal was not appealing at all. Guy next to me said he got bacon instead of his ham, and his eggs were not cooked either. My eggs Benedict were very pricey at $14.95
coffee leaves something to be desired. baked goods are pretty alright though. Sort of a win-lose situation
Good ambience and quick service. Had a very nice breakfast. Cleanup could be further improved. Enjoyed the place as usual
Great breakfast!
Cozy place
A great place to get coffee and breakfast! Their kettle loaf is fantastic!
Very great and tasty sandwiches. The coffee is smelly and it has good flavor!
AMAZING FOOD NO matter what you order. the the inside of the restaurant is trendy and the staff is very friendly and will accommodate any person's personal taste. This place is AMAZING ALL THE WAY AROUND.
Very nice atmosphere, personalized service and freshly prepared food. Whether it's coffee, lunch or dinner or dessert or a snack - it's always yummy AND fresh.
Love the place with a lot of good desserts except the cheesecake brownies I got. It was too hard for me to take a small bite. Other stuff was great.
Expensive and no table service. Food is delicious. Atmosphere is average at best.
Great place to have a sandwich made. I love coming here after a long bike ride along the river path. Make sure you save room for dessert as they have a really large selection of sweets made in house.
Rude service, the lady taking my gf's order stole the paper and pen out of her hand before she was finished ordering. Food was mediocre at best. Pretty grungy, no reason to come back.
It is a. Very pricy place and soups are usually very salty. salt is that not common for humans. Sandwich may be ok but have no pickles. Etc in your sandwiches. It is popular place but the quality is no more than 2 stars. Service is frienly....staff is excellent.
I go there because their awesome cookies justify dealing with their long lines (and poor methods for dealing with the lunch crowd) and unabashedly poor customer service...sometimes.
Amazing food, delicious bread and the service is quick as I thought. Everything is delicious and the staff is very friendly!
Great coffee and lunches. Parking may be a problem, but there is overflow behind the mall
I'm pretty sure I met Satan himself here. Fella at the next table had one eye and interjected into our conversation. Offered me a job and suggested a couple of message boards. Shook with his left hand. The whole ordeal left me uneasy. Being a graphic designer sucks. There are too many of us in this city and not enough jobs. And I don't think I need to make a deal with the devil to make ends meet. Not that desperate yet. Food was only okay.
Nice cozy atmosphere and is clean (usually). Only complaint is things are quite expensive for what you get.
Best sandwiches in Calgary. KETTLE BREAD. nuff said. :)
Sizzling rice soup is the best soup you can ever eat, ever. Everyone should come here for lunch and dinner.
Very good quality food. Price reflects that. The lunch soup is always homemade and very tasty. Sandwiches are substantial on their own bakery bread. My soup came missing my side bun. Very busy on a Sunday. Seating is at a premium.
Great breakfast spot. Serves alcohol for an afternoon quick sip. Cute as a button and great location.
Nice spot for brunch or coffee! The kettle bread is delicious. Lots of yummy baking to pick from.
Great custom sandwiches and the soup is always good.
Making your way in the world today
Takes everything you got
Taking a break from all your worries
It sure would help a lot
Wouldn't you like to get away?
Sometimes you want to go
Where everybody knows your name
And they're always glad you came
You want to be where you can see
The troubles are all the same
You want to be at lazy loaf
Except not everybody knows my name
And I m not sure they re glad I came
But you can t beat the breakfast here
*Update: still totally awesome but temporarily closed due to covid-19 as of April 27*. Some of the best sandwiches in the city, and they have good lasagne too!
The sandwiches are really good. I find it much too expensive for a lunch place. Others must disagree though because it's usually jam packed.
Great place. Good sandwiches in a pleasant atmosphere.
Fresh bread, warm potatoes and we'll crafted omelette. Service was friendly and quick. Prices push the limit for counter service.
Very expensive rueben sandwich, over $15, fruit salad basically diced apples and cantaloupe, and low on the meat and sauerkraut.
Crowded seating. Would be helpful if they listed prices for all the desserts and squares so you didn't have to ask.
Changed their Muffin recipe recently and now are some of the best muffins in the city.
The food was amazing especially the millionaire bar! The people taking your order were friendly and had big smiles
This place has a great price point. It is the kind of restaurant where you order a simple meal and a latte at the counter and they bring it to your table. It is very busy for weekend brunch but worth the wait. Otherwise throughout the week it is a great place to meet up over a soup and sandwich. Parking is easy and free. Walkable (if you're up to it) from the university area.
Horrible service. A little pricey but good food. Parking is awful.
This is a cute little breakfast and lunch spot with easy access off of the #1.
We wanted to pick up a couple of sandwiches before a hiking day and thought we would treat ourselves at the Lazy Loaf.
I thought the sandwiches would be quite large since a whole was $9.95 and half was $7.50. We ordered a whole vegatarian wrap to share, which was at the bottom of a list of meat (ham, roast beef....vegetatian). Other choices were types of condiments & vegetables. Guacamole was $1.75 extra.
What we received was a very sad looking wrap, on a flimsy paper plate, toothpicks sticking out of the cellophane wrap. It was a smallish sandwich and if you are vegatarian, you really pay up for the vegetables that come with a meat sandwich. There was nothing extra to "replace" a meat choice (avacado, hard boiled egg, etc)
The baked goods were nice (cinnamon twist & scone.)
It's cute, but overpriced for what you receive.
Service was mediocre.
My niece recommended this restaurant to me, and I am happy I gave it a chance. Delicious sandwiches, and good service. Would definitely recommend. Some of the best sandwiches in Canada.
Soup and sandwiches are always fresh, great bakery style desserts.
Yummy! If they used better meat on the sandwiches and had friendlier staff I would give it a 5. The parking lot is neat. Lots of delicious baked goods and bread that has carrots in it.
I love the Lazy Loaf. I've been coming here for years and it's still amazing - good coffee, great food, incredible baked goods and desserts. Homey and satisfying.
I Love this place. Great food & service. Breakfast or Lunch !!
I ordered a half sandwich for 8$ and it was terrible. The bread was hard and the chicken absolutely flavorless. I also had to wait 15 minutes for it to be made and I was first in line.
The best thing about this food was the pickle you get on the side and I don't even like pickles.
The rest of the food looks good and large portions but please don't waste your money on a sandwich!
Very nice place for meeting friends. Good coffee and good food, not too sweet. If they can offer their wifi from morning, it will make everything perfect.
Our favorite sunday lunch. Home cooked food and bakery items. Staff is happy. Only down side is i wish it was bigger for more seating.
Just had a wonderful first experience at the Lazy Loaf - a tasty BLT and a delicious piece of raspberry crumble bar. Service was polite and quick, the food was fresh and so tasty: I will most definitely be back!
Cozy little place with all-day breakfast and make-your-own lunch sandwiches
The quality of their bread is great but their service is absolutely terrible. I tried to place an order for pick up and prepay but experienced all sorts of problems including attitude from the staff. If this is a service that a restaurant cannot offer that s totally fine but the manager told me that they could do it so I trusted them! I had only heard good things about the lazy loaf and kettle until this point. Due to this experience and the poor attitude of staff, I will not go back to lazy loaf again! From the perspective of a paying customer, there is absolutely NO excuse for rude behaviour!!
Ok. So it was my moms birthday and I wanted to surprise her with my sister and bring her dinner and dessert. We ordered in and I picked up dessert. Well...the girl at the front was HORRIFIC.
2 chocolate cake and 2 carrot cake And 2 cookies. Not hard order!
She crammed all the cakes so tight into one container. They obviously did not fit and she could not close the lid, so she decided to put the chocolate cake to a different container. They still did not fit and she decided instead of separating them again. She would take her hand and squish it all down!! It literally looked like a mushy pudding mess you could not even tell it was / pieces of cake. There was a line of people and one lady actually tapped my shoulder and said OMG Say something she s destroyed the cakes! So I said you destroyed the cake. It s someone s birthday cake and we are putting these on a platter with fruit. She ignored what I said and stared at me waiting for me to pay. I repeated what I said and she still didn t respond so I said look at the cake. It s all destroyed. It is a mess. This is someone s birthday cake and I am paying for it. Do you think that looks ok? Do you feel this is adequate? She slammed them to the side and said so what do you want? A new piece of cake or what?
It was so bad. Yes of course I want new cakes carefully packed up! She finally went and got new cakes. And packed them all separately (still banged up but at least I could salvage them!).
For 2 slices of awesome carrot cake, 2 slices of dry chocolate cake and 2 very hard cookies.
The bill was $53. Lol.
Not joking!
The gal that Was rude was a bit of a bigger gal with long dark hair.
She needs to be fired or get a serious attitude adjustment.
The people standing in the line were even commenting on her. It was atrocious.
Overall the food is not BAD here. But they need to step up those game and loose the entitled attitude.
Great location, great food, great staff, always a great experience. ... Great.
Loved everything about this place. Great staff. Amazing breakfast and super great bread!!!
A nice cozy environment decorated with art from local artists, with plenty of spaces to sit and eat. They have a nice selection of drinks and food. We got the meat lasagna and shepherds pie which both came with a side (soup or salad). The shepherds pie came later but it was worth the wait! Kale salad had poppy seeds which gave it a nice crunch and had a light dressing. The staff were friendly and we will definitely go back to try a dessert (explosion cake peaked our interest)
This was my first time eating here and I am blown away! As soon as you get there you are welcomed by an assortment of food and tasty treats. I couldn't make up my mind, everything looked so amazing! The sandwiches are fresh and delicious. I would highly recommend!
Hmm, where to start. The woman at the front didn't greet us at all. We proceeded to order our food and paid for it. We then went to take a seat and all of the unoccupied tables either had dirty plates / cups or had hot been wiped down. We found a table that had been cleared but there was still some stains on it. The food arrived. The mac and cheese was the blandest I've ever had and the tomato soup was mediocre. Won't be back
Delicious desserts. Good coffee. Can be a bit pricey
Great cream based soups and lots of sandwich options.
Great place to meet for a business discussion. A favorite hangout for the local crowd. Amazing coffee and bread selection, has a bohemian vibe. One of Calgary's best coffee shops, and it adds a bakery twist!
Prices are high and service for my last visits was very slow. Great lively atmosphere and wonderful bread. Cinnamon buns used to be my #1 draw but have lost the love they used to possess.
I am sad I have not found this place sooner! Great tea and the best tuna melt in Calgary!
Great London Fogs. If you're willing to pay extra for great food and drinks, I would definitely recommend going here. Make sure you've got some spare time though, because it takes them awhile to push food out the kitchen.
