Our lunch here consisted of one and a half sandwiches, a small bowl of soup , two coffees and an iced tea and came to just over $30, pretty steep in my opinion. After ordering we then waited for 35 minutes for it to be served. Admittedly the food was good, but over priced .

Love this spot. Incredible baked goods and sandwiches. Feels like home. Unusual artwork on walls (local artists, I believe). Peach oatmeal muffins are to die for! A few gluten free options as well.

My favourite place to be! The food is AMAZING! The sandwiches are sooo tasty and their breads of the day are really good, and unique! I love the location, it's so pretty. Perfect place to stop at after a bike ride in the area!

I love this place when I am in the area! Great sandwiches, soups and more. I had the days special and a London fog with fantastic chocolate cake. it's hard to pick what to try, I'll just have to back.

I took a friend for breakfast last week... I hadn't been there for awhile, and have always loved it and recommended to others.
This time I was very aware that this place could use a deep cleaning... there was a lot of dust in women s washroom ceiling by the vent.
I think they should close for a few days to totally clean and paint...
Consider friendlier staff too...

The food here is really great. Our favourite is just getting a loaf of their fresh baked bread, "Kettle Bread". It is SUPER good, with grated carrots in it. However, the service is REALLY slow, even during non-peak times. Also, the prices are ridiculously expensive.

Update: the food is delicious, but they don't have any ability to do things quickly. Waiting for 30 minutes for 2 takeout sandwiches is ridiculous, and it wasn't even busy.

My fiance and I always come here to meet with friends. The atmosphere is very nice, very cozy. We typically just get a coffee and some kind of sweet from the counter. The coffee is good and the naked goods are hit and miss. Some look like there bought from gfs. Can be a little pricey. Haven't tried any of there menu items yet

Lazy Loaf is a casual neighborhood cafe that offers delicious eats. I love their cheesecake brownie and daddy dipped chocolate chip cookie - not too sweet but super indulgent! I still can't believe their kettle bread is egg and dairy-free. It's soft, seedy, and perfect for a grilled cheese sandwich.

Friendly with a huge menu where everything is delicious. Reasonable prices and actual free parking. Came for breakfast both days we were in Calgary - beats a hotel continental breakfast by a mile! Highly recommend.

I absolutely love their sandwiches and love how you can customize what you want. The deserts are amazing and the cookies are massive. Definitely a family favorite and worth the wait (average 5-10 minutes after ordering) for fresh and delicious food!

They totally lost their charm ,The quantity for the price used to be good now they cheap out on meat and toppings and the staff always seem to have a attitude , $46 for 2 sandwiches and drinks , how about the shirt off my back too !!!

Though the food is good, the sandwich PRICES have gone UP significantly and the portion size has gone DOWN tremendously! We are very, VERY disappointed. Not worth the extra cost to us.

I really like coming by! Nice cozy atmosphere, and the people are always very kind. I think they have a good selection on both baked goods, food items, and coffee/tea. I think the real downside to this are the prices in relation to the proportion of food you receive.

For example, I've ordered both the eggs benny as well as things on their lunch menu (mac & cheese and soup; $17). Those are prices I don't mind paying whatsoever, but the proportions you get for said prices seem inconsistent, and more often than not, on the smaller side. With the mac& cheese and soup combo, it just seems like I'd be able to get something similar elsewhere, for much less and with bigger portions (I'd be willing to pay closer to $12-13).

Any ways, the quality of food is really, really good. Maybe depending on where they source their stuff from, it's a bit more pricey but...I'd argue it makes it tough to go there consistently. Their coffee/tea on the other hand, I think is reasonably priced.

I'd still come again, for sure, though.

The breakfast potatoes were super crisp a d delicious, the homemade bread was also amazing but a little too toasted and was a bit hard. Omelette was also good and breakfast options are varied and affordable. The best part was the turtle brownie though! So gooooood

This establishment has gone severely downhill. I showed up for dinner with my girlfriend, and the girl who was working the till seemed inconvenienced to have to take my order. After taking a bite out of my sandwich and realizing they didn't put any meat on it, I took it back at which point they simply opened it up, slapped some turkey on it, and brought it back to our table. Perhaps she thought my bite marks gave the sandwich an edgy look that needed to be preserved. This place could use a serious injection of customer service! Hopefully the owner realizes that their great food is being overshadowed by discourteous behaviour.

They have amazing baked goods that will have you coming back for more and their soups and sandwiches are great for lunch, their meal options for dinner are decent but not a variety (they have lasagna and some pasta dishes) but for coffee or dessert, its definitely my go to!

Lovely atmosphere and large menu! There's lots of fresh breads, amazing desserts (would highly recommend the turtle brownie), and the salads are delicious as well. The artwork is cute and there's even a stand-up piano! Friendly staff and nice location. There's also outdoor seating which is great in summer :)

Really nice place to come and surprisingly I just found about it today! I came down there to try it out and enjoyed it quite a bit. Nice chocolate cake and very cozy environment, both in and outdoors.

Dropped in for lunch. We were told that it would be a short wait. Put down our name and were told to sit on the bench to wait. After about 5 minutes a couple left and we thought we would be seated shortly, however another couple walked in the door and were given the table. Obviously they need a better system. We decided to leave. On the way out I mentioned that we had been waiting to the guy who seated the other couple and just got a shrug. Won t be back.

My turkey rice soup was quite bland, lacking flavour, very basic. Italian salad dressing was good. Ok service, nothing spectacular. The staff were not grumpy but they did not appear to be happy either. Definitely Over Priced. .

Staff are so lovely, food is fresh and great, the bakery section is homemade in a good way and the tea selection has my heart. Always so lovely to see Genmaicha!!

Covid-19 note: They are possibly the most organized coffee/ bakery shop that I've come across so far. You line up for whether you want to sit or takeaway making entry and exit simple.

Keep up the amazing work!!

My family and I regularly visit Lazy Loaf and Kettle. It's a great place to stop for a treat when you're walking along the river, or grab a sandwich to eat on a bench by the river or on their outdoor patio. It's even a great place to go in the evening for dessert or coffee with a friend.

They offer tender baked goods, gigantic cinnamon buns, sweet brownies and squares, and a delicious variety of cakes. The Kettle Bunwich is so delicious that I never order the other sandwiches. There's a rack of day-olds hidden by the piano, so I always buy a loaf of cheap bread too.

At lunch time, this place gets crazy busy, so be prepared to wait (for parking, in line, for your food) if you are there between 11:30 and 1:30 pm. Other times of the day, it's not too busy.

*The service has improved since my last visit but I'm not quite ready to change the following section of my review.* It seems like Lazy Loaf sometimes has trouble with consistent and punctual service - I've gone when the service was humming along quickly and everyone is getting their food within a few minutes, typically at lunch when fully staffed. But I've also gone in the evening when a single staff member is behind the counter, and it's the end of a long day and it takes 10 minutes to get a drip coffee and slice of cake. And we were the only customers.

It wouldn't be a big deal if it was accompanied by a "Thanks for waiting!" when it's my turn but usually I get the staff member who clearly doesn't want to be at work and is just tired of serving. It would be nice if the service was friendlier and more consistent between day/evening. But that's my only complaint. I love everything else about Lazy Loaf and Kettle.
