I had the pleasure of working with Jose who helped me pick out the car I wanted. He was amazing and helped me with every question I had. He was also very transparent and let us know everything going on with the car and our situation. Nick the sales manager was also amazing. They were both great to talk to and helped me out with my car choice. There were bumps in the road that made buying the car difficult but the team at Honda Universe made it a pleasant and welcoming time. I will be back for my next car and tell everyone how wonderful it was to deal with Honda Universe! ASK FOR JOSE!

Told us over the phone they had several cars that they actually didn't. The management was a little too impersonal for me and ultimately lead me to go to another honda dealer

I bought a used vehicle here and financed it. A week later the dealer called and said they made a mistake and I needed to pay an additional $50 a month on my loan. I told them no and to take the car back. Then they said don t worry about it, they will fix it. Ridiculous!!
Follow up:
I took it there 3 months later cause car was shaking when I hit the brakes. They said I needed rotors turned, but they were nt covered under warranty. I thought it was covered under warranty for a defective part. Another reason I would not deal with them. Sell and forget!!!!
Customer service manager called me and said he would check into it and call me back in 1 or 2 days. It s been over 2 weeks and he never called me.
Wish I never bought my honda at honda universe in lakewood, nj.
Follow up:
After a second incident with the service dept., the sevice manager offered me a free oil change and tire rotation. He said when I bring the car in to ask for him. So about 2 to 3 weeks later I had to get an oil change, so I brought my car in and asked for the service manager. When I told him he said he never said that and would not honor it and that he never talked to me. So again I say I am sorry I dealt with this place!

DO NOT GO TO THESE PEOPLE. worst experience i have ever had buying anything. they told me i could buy the car myself, then told me i had to have a cosigner. they lost paperwork, then lied about losing it. they said they would finance the car through bank X, then bank Y, then bank Z. they gave me the runaround about getting the contact information for the bank they finally chose. don't go in to look at cars. don't go in to talk about financing options. don't even go in to use their toilet, as they don't deserve the contents of your bowels, much less your business

Update: I was told that the part for my car would ...

Update: I was told that the part for my car would be in first thing in the morning and that the car should be ready mid-late morning. The part didn't arrive till noon, the car was ready at 2, and upon returning home, I noticed scratches and a dent in the bumper, as well as damage to the personal property inside the vehicle. The agency seems very reluctant to take any responsibility for this damage, and I am awaiting a response.

They definitely DO NOT operate under the principle that the customer is "number one," contrary to their intro message.

The staff and other workers here are extremely rude and unhelpful. I am from out of state and have a leased Honda. A sliding door was broken while visiting family, and I had to use this dealership to fix it. Communication was horrible, there seemed to be only one person working who could access and give out information about my vehicle (who was never available), and I was repeatedly dealt with in a brusque, impolite manner. My trip home was delayed, not because of time to do the diagnosis or repair, but because it took a day and a half to get a report back on what was wrong with the vehicle and what the cost would be to fix it. There is another dealer in TR. Use that one.

My experience with Honda Universe is always wonderful. I recently bought my Honda Hrv and my mom's CRV from here and I honestly wouldn't go anywhere else. Both times i left feeling confident about which vehicles to purchase and my my mom amd I are so happy with or awesome cars! Rahsaan Jones and John McGraw always go out of there way for me which is why they will continue to have my business. Thanks guys!!!

Miguel was so friendly , helpful and really wanted to help us!!! He gets 5 stars!!! The financial department tried to pull a fast one at the end of the deal ... said they forgot fees (wish they didn't)and tried to get us for$1,000 more. With Miguel's help he contacted the owner and came in on his day off!!! He got us the original quoted price sums made the deal!

Rahsaan Jones was professional, eloquent, intelligent, and friendly. He listened carefully to what we were looking for and found it easily. We appreciated his patience and kindness. He took the time to answer our questions and explain everything about the car thoroughly, and we never felt rushed. His enthusiasm was infectious. The manager we dealt with, Anthony Maffucci, was equally friendly and helpful. The 2012 CRV we leased was our third Honda, and we would gladly come back to Mr. Jones and Honda Universe in the future. This was one of the best experiences we have ever had in a dealership!

If there were zero stars I give them that. My son bought a car from them he bought his own financing this was 30 days ago. The tags expired and they told him to just drive the car its not a moving violation they'll pay the ticket WTF ..Who says that. They have not summited the paperwork to the financial institution so they want to take back there offer. The financial guy says dont worry we'll get you financed through us .I doubt then can get him 16% interest but I guess they think he'll take whatever because he has had the car over 30 days now . He has given them $4800.00 He has numerous text messages and unanswered emails from them. I am advising him to call Consumer Affairs, The BBB, and splash this all over social media. I feel like they ran him through the ringer so the can get more money through them. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS PEOPLE. I will keep you post on this scam there playing . I will also be contacting a Lawyer.

I had pretty bad experience with this place. I have enquired about one the car which is available in their inventory. After speaking with one of their representative, I have taken appointment to see the vehicle and most probably planning to buy that car in first meeting itself since I have almost loved the offering which they kep it in website. One they day of appointment, I made everything is ready like took rental car to drive from my place which is almost 80 miles to reach. And finally, when I am about to reach the place ( 15 miles far away) got a cal from the person who scheduled the appointment and mentioned that the car which I am interested was sold out. This is how they show value to the customers and no ethics in their job. Terrible experience....i definitely not recommend this place to anyone.

Our credit was less than perfect and Brian worked tirelessly to secure me the payments we agreed upon. Best leasing experience to date and I have been leading since 2006. Highly recommended

Horrible experience, 1st u went clearly letting them know what I can pay in pymts they promised they could keep the pymts no more the 350.00 had me give a down payment couldn t get a deal for those pymts they kept pressuring a $525.00 monthly pymt. I didn t agree and 2 weeks later many calls and 4 visits and they have no refunded my down pymt and now they are telling me next week which will bring me to the 3rd week waiting on my Monet I gave them immediately the first day I went and cash. My refund shouldn t take so long, I did not have a good experience with them at all. Do not believe them when they promise u something they goose you to give a deposit and try to get u into pymts you initially stressed about that couldn t be done. They are not honest and customer service is poor, giving me the run around on returning my money back, I was warned by a couple worker this happened to them last year and took my chances and they where rite. Poor honesty and Service. I do not recommend them(my opinion) not satisfied. Pine belt of rt 37 instead helped me kept their word in pymts I can afford and are holding a vehicle I purchased patiently for me awaiting on my deposit to be returned by Honda, they offered honesty loyalty and good customer services to their customers, highly recommend pine belt in TR over Honda for sure.

Aside from the car itself, SCOTT DUPONT is the reason we purchased with this dealership! We'd been looking to buy something for a while now. Scott greeted us outside and as always, I just wanted to take in the cars before getting 'involved' with someone. Over the next few hours though (and eventually days), Scott proved to be a true advocate for us. He was down to earth, attentive, compassionate, and very patient. Nothing shook him and he was clearly focused on making us happy while still doing his thing. All this while his manager was rude and abusive to him, and eventually to us when we returned with our trade (reason for 4 stars and not 5). Scott remained on our side when Nick tried to reneg on the agreed upon value and afterwards, was extremely apologetic and caring throughout the process. A real gentle soul that obviously wasn't just trying to get the sale. We got the vehicle we were looking for with the features that mattered to us and eventually at the right price. Nick did have a say ultimately in that price, but his efforts were neutralized on the back end with his antics. It was Scott Dupont that kept us there or we would have walked out for sure. We walked out with a Honda, so we're happy and would follow Scott anywhere if we ever need a car again, regardless of the dealership that employs him. Thank you for the experience, Mr. Dupont and all the best in the future. Keep that integrity strong - it's rare in this day and age.

I'm a young adult with a decent knowledge of cars. Went in January for an oil change on my 2004 Civic, they were nice enough to give it to me for free because I had to "get some work done" on my car. On the R.O., in addition to brake pads & tires (which I knew I needed), it said that I needed control arm bushings, a timing belt, and a battery. It runs fine and I've had no problems whatsoever. However, when I went to a different place in May to get my brakes done, the place said absolutely nothing about these parts needing to be replaced. Honda Universe, to me, is just another car dealership that likes to give the run-around to squeeze money out of their customers & give them a false sense of security. Thanks for the free oil change, but I'd rather have paid for it & let them save the B.S. for another schmuck.

I want to thank Greg Levine for being the best salesperson!! I was looking for a Honda and after going to a few Honda stores without any luck, went to Honda Universe. My sales associate Greg Levine was by far the best. He was beyond helpful, professional and honest!!! I was not ready to purchase that day but Greg still took the time to help me with no pressure. Because of that I will be back soon to Honda Universe to purchase a Honda and will be asking for Greg. Highly recommend this store over the other Honda dealerships in the area.

They charged my fiance money while the car was under warranty claiming a rock put a hole in the AC Compressor. When asked for proof they would not provide. Here we are 2 years later and the AC doesn't work again. Will be bringing vehicle elsewhere. Do not purchase from them. Stealership at it's finest.

He listened to what I needed which made the negotiations completely non stressful. He also followed up with my purchase to ask how I liked my car and if I was having any problems. Worst dealership ever. Never go to sales man Danny Patel. His immediate boss Glenn is also very rude. Window Etch is optional still Danny and manager Glenn force me to take it. They would not sell the car to me if I don't get the window etch option .After several phone calls to genemal manager James (also very rude) and threatened to complaint in state consumer office, they gave us our money for window etch.
I would not recommend to any one to go there. They are very rude and dishonest.

I visited the dealer on 3/10 without any expectations of getting me a car right away on Lakewood; I was supposed to "dealer hop" my way to see options. Right away I met Christina who, from the beginning, was supper nice and friendly. During he whole interaction her best interest was for me to get a car that fits my personality but most important my budget. I moved recently to NJ and she was on top of everything I needed to know when getting a certified pre-owned car. She fought the car deal and the insurance deal like it was a deal for her; she was just amazing. I highly recommend anyone to visit this dealership and just do business with them!

I went to Honda Universe and had a great saleswoman. Izabella Frattaroli was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I spoke with her about the pros and cons of leasing vs buying new. There were a lot of details I never knew about that she thoughtfully explained to me. The best part about the entire process was that she didn't pressure me once to buy or lease a car from her. She just helped answer all my questions. I would definitely go back.

I have leased three cars from Honda Universe. My experience with them has been typical for a car dealership. On my last purchase however, I had a bad experience. With only a few days before my temporary tag expired, I got a postcard in the mail instead of my registration and tags. The postcard indicated that I owed more money for my registration. Salesperson Steve Umoru told me that the fee I already paid in my lease contract was "only an estimate". Than, to add insult to injury, Steve Umoru told me that I had to come pick up my registration and plates, when he explicitly agreed to send me the registration and plates when I bought the car. I am currently living in PA, and Honda Universe is a four hour drive Steve Umoru was well aware of this, as we specifically discussed it. The bottom line is that Honda Universe management Nick Salerno and salesperson Steve Umoru have unethically squeezed additional money out of me after my lease was executed. If you buy a car from Honda Universe, make sure to ask if the registration fee is "only an estimate".

By far the best Honda dealership out there! My family and I have been shopping around several Honda dealerships from NY to PA. Every dealership I have been to never treated me with the respect and honesty that Paul Dugan and his manager Glen Swenson have given me the very first moment I walked in with my notepad. They were transparent with there pricing and financing option. I am so astonished how easy and painless it was dealing with them, and I didn't sit there for hours before anything was over with. The other dealerships I went to I was there for about 5-6 hours and I didn't get to take the Honda Odyssey home, At Honda Universe I left there within 4 hours with my brand new Honda Odyssey. Thank you guys so much, my family and I are very happy with our purchase!!

I give Honda Universe a 5 Star rating all around! Kristen was my Saleswoman and let me tell you I would hire her in a second! I have Managed large companies and was very impressed on how she knows what to do and when. My husband has been stuck on buying a Dodge challenger, myself was looking at the Mazda 6. Last stop was Honda known for there excellence and cars holding value and no problems mechanically. I owned a Honda civic 11 years ago and had given it to my daughter. This car is still holding strong, she loves this car! Honda Universe was where I had purchased her car years ago and I was very happy all around with Service to Sales name it. They treat you like years ago when the customer matters. Ok here's what happened. I was asked by Kristen a few attempts to take the accord for a test drive but I just wanted a price and my husband would'nt even come inside. After she realized which is experience not to ask again just make me happygave me the cost on the 2014 4dr accord, then she went outside pulled up with a 2014 Honda accord exl sport two tone leather and called my husband over just to look. Well he did and smiled ear to ear and test drove this car. Impressed the power of this car, the luxury look and all the extras. Smart move Kristen!! Next after turning his head went to sales manager and spoke with him on pricing to bring down to a cost to keep me happy. Thanks Honda! Good Job! I would like to thank the manager can not remember his name but speak to Kristen if interested .

Very disorganized, unprofessional environment and not only that had a very rude experience with the manager that had a snarky attitude. Will never return or refer! Got a better price at a different dealership with 100x better customer service and left with a car that day!

Tons of hidden fees. These people are scam artists. Do not trust Internet prices. All prices advertised online does not include the 600$ 'Internet fee' that they sneak in when you sit down to do the paper work. You pay for the car you want to buy to be advertised. The price listed is just to get you into the door. The car I was looking at had a flag that said certified; however when I sat down to do paper work found out that the price did not include the certified warranty and that it would be another 3000$. I do not understand how these people get away with things like this. Very sad.

I can not believe my experience today and I hope whoever reads this learns from my mistake of using this Honda Dealership.

1. Find car listed at 7999 at Honda Universe (special advertised markdown from 9999). Make appointment to test drive.

2. Show up for appointment and get told car is in the shop. Told to come back in 6 hours.

3. Come back, car still in the shop. Told by salesman that price is an error (though it is listed explicitly on website, car gurus and on the actual car). Told that there is no special and that all advertising sources are wrong. Also told by salesman that they charge a $1300 prep fee on all used cars. This prep fee includes cleaning and some other stuff.

This review is for the service department only. Be aware that you will significantly overpay for service at this location. Also, I have been given inaccurate pricing over the phone for service multiple times. I will no longer continue to get service here after attempted Loyalty because i bought the car there. For example, I was told over the phone it would be $187.50 to install front and back brakes on my 2012 Honda Pilot. I had already purchased the pads from AutoZone. After dropping the vehicle off they called me and told me it was actually going to be double, "which was a discount". I took the vehicle to Jiffy Lube and they did the entire job for $200. Unprofessional, Inconsistent, and overpriced!

My hometown is North Bergen New Jersey but I happened to be in the area and stopped by Honda Universe in Lakewood. Was not disappointed. My sales guy, Steve Adams, was great - knew a lot about cars and made the process very easy. Will def be making the trek back there. Thanks!

Easily the worst car dealership. EVER. They do not care about anything besides the money they are making. In the process of financing my car and it s been a NIGHTMARE. First was told I didn t have to put any money down by someone who wasn t knowledgeable, her name was Heylin. Horrible. Also, they called my old place of employment and asked the receptionist for all my information and got angry when they wouldn t tell them any information and told the girl that I lied on my application I told them several times that I no longer work at that place and they continued to call anyway harrassing the staff, completely unprofessional. It s a shame they treat their customers this way especially one who s been with them for awhile now. So if you want to be disappointed, then go here. I ll never refer your business to anyone.
