Good food section if not a bit pricey and touristy.
For a traveler who wants to stop eating and shop for local produce and clothes or whatever he wants, I find it a great place to eat as well.
It is a very lovely place to go shopping for high end clothing. Everything formal related they have it, everything outdoor (eg. fishing, hunting, walking etc) they have it. It is a wonderful store with lots of goodies.
Fabulous sandwich with a coffee in a lovely location.
Lots of shops and eating places in the middle of no where! A welcome pit stop on the A9 from the highlands! Great fish and chips! Gets busy at times especially with tourists. Shops are quite expensive but the deli/food hall is fabulous!
Very expensive and fairly poor customer service. Doesn't take a lot to be friendly, you know. I can understand the appeal for tourists, but go to Bruar Falls for a walk instead and come here for some food afterwards.
An extensive range of country/outdoor clothing and high end food. Quite expensive, but we'll worth a visit.
Great Food, Great Shops they have something for everyone. House of Briar is a definite stop on out way too and from the Highlands
My idea of hell. Overpriced pseudo-Scottish retail experience with restaurant serving something like school dinner at ludicrous prices, all within a revolting context that looks like a cheap Hollywood set meant to be Scotland. Lots of people seem to come here because they think it s posh; the only reason to go is that it s very close to the A9 and there s nowhere else to stop if your driving to or from Inverness. Even then it s not worth it as you may have to queue for half an hour to get a horrible coffee.
I agree with Duncan colburn below, I have heard this place described as the Harrods of Scotland a lot of posh people there think it is. It was very interesting but honestly nothing you cant get for much less else where so i guess it is like Harrods. Its no where near as big as Harrods by the way. The art gallery is great i loved it , and the scenery from the coffee shop is amazing, it was a bit like self service at a posh motorway cafe though. Worth a look but as a commoner and i mean very common it was not for me. The place to be if your rich country folk, watch out for the oi polloi like me though.
Nice surroundings but expensive. They don't like coaches..... losing trade.
Normally this would get a 5 star rating, but my recent visit felt hustled and touristy. They have also done something with the lighting that makes you feel under interrogation when viewing items, shame as it was one of our fav visits in the area. That said the food hall is top quality still!
A class act - my favourite place to shop show casing all that we do best in Scotland!
A pleasant shopping experience if you are not worried about spending money.
Busy place for shopping and restaurants. No good place for decent tea or coffee though.
Great place to browse. Good quality clothes and food. Always worth a visit.
Visited here when we passed in December and had a quick look round. Bit pricey for me but a really nice place to visit. Bought a pork pie on the way out which I ate on the train to mallaig later. Was well worth it.
Far too busy. Long queues. Exit on to A9 congested and dangerous.
Had fish and chips a little expensive but very tasty sorry I had already started to eat before I took the photo
Always amusing to observe the Tarquins and Jocastas buying their outfits for their Highland hunting holidays
Only visited the food court but the spicy parsnip soup was delicious and well worth stopping for.
You can buy everything that is tasty and very beautiful clothing
Tourist place to visit very expensive but nice for a stop
Quik stop will do, shop selling old out of date stuff, very expensive
Very busy place, but you can see why. Great for country wear, shooting wear and food. Definitely worth the stop off for a few hours.
Always love visiting on my way up to the Highlands. I usually only buy a coffee or a pot of jam, but I love window shopping all of the knitwear and country brands, though everything is very expensive. Their clearence department would spark an interest if it was better discounted. Its usually very busy and the food is expensive as well but it is delicious.
Visited specifically for the wonderful food hall. Not disappointed by the selections available, but prices are perhaps a little high.
This place is a destination in its own right.
It s not cheap, but everything it sells is quality - the food hall is amazing and the clothing outlets are really very good. You ll struggle to avoid spending far more than you intended.
The restaurant is very good too, its legendary steak pie worth the visit on its own.
Take your time here, explore fully. Enjoy
Only stopped off for lunch. Situated just off the main road and facilities are excellent. You can, if you so wish, spend oodles of dosh on lovely things!
Good place to stop off for a coffee on a long journey.
Did not like the American style toilets though and the floor was covered in tissues
Always have something different and staff are very friendly and helpful
Would have loved to see more but not very wheelchair friendly.
Very interesting location. Large selection of clothes and accessories.
A wonderful place to stop on a long journey up the A9. Whether it is to buy clothes or food, there is a superb choice. A good lunch to be had and nice toilets, too.
One of my favourite places to visit and shop. They always have new and unusual products available.
Totally love the food hall, I always spend much more than I intend. Really high quality clothing but a wee bit fuddy duddy style-wise for me. Food in the restaurant is delicious. Always a great day out, even better if you include a walk up to the falls.
Lovely place gets better every time we go. Always expanding. Well done.
I've enjoyed the House of Bruar experience for many years and have spent far too much money in the Menswear department which really is first class! The Food Hall is another favourite area which I often find difficult to resist!
On a negative front, I'm becoming less impressed with the restaurant operation. As the business has increased over the years, so has the pressure on the catering operation and parts of it are starting to creak!
Having the coffee and tea service at the same location as the till means that during busy periods you can be stood with your tray and your hot food with up to 6-8 people in front of you potentially also wanting to collect hot drinks and process their payments. All of which takes time. As this happens, your once hot food is getting colder by the second. Factor in the cold draft coming from the opening door to the extra seating area and by the time you actually get to your table the temperature of your lunch is not as appetising as it started off.
I'd also highlight that as the place has got busier the civility and hospitable nature that cashiers in the restaurant used to have appears to have diminished proportionally! Whatever happened to "service with a smile?" The sanctimonious woman who I had the misfortune to deal with at lunchtime on Thurs 15th of March was downright rude! She appeared to be training someone younger too, which doesn't bode terribly well if bad habits are being passed along.......
Great location staff really friendly and helpful great food
Overly priced country goods and food. Clean bathrooms though which make it a good place to stop along the road.
Shockingly bad customer service. The staff are arrogant and lacked empathy and when in the wrong they blame royal mail. I was told tale upon tale, given three different dates my item was dispatched. Having waited almost 2 weeks for an in stock item told ""if you wanted it sooner you should have paid more." The staff were antagonistic and rude.
No stars - only gave it 1 to leave the feedback.
Fantastic selection of Scottish fair and good food. Every time we pass we stop by.
Love it! Lovely food, beautiful products on sale. Definitely worth a visit.
It's always an experience! A little expensive for our family, but it's a nice treat. Currently have lots of reduced stock. Recommend the restaurant!
super complete shopping place. relatively cheap and super friendly staff.
suitable for those who want to buy typical Scottish souvenirs. I have checked prices with edinbrugh city and cheaper in bruar.
A great choice of Scottish Produce, but priced for the Tourist Dollat.
Perfect for a tourist shopping stop. We did not do their clothes shops but we scoured and enjoyed their little food shop! Very nice selection of tea and local biscuits as well as typical drinks. We brought hot spicy wines to serve hot, caramels and excellent shortbreads!
The cafe sells expensive coffee taken from a low quality coffee machine - you're just paying for the reputation when you're here. Also bad pedestrian access to the shop itself from the carpark.
Great place well stocked lots of choice.ample parking.
No dogs allowed poor when you are having a drive in Scotland
Nice stores but not very special. Fun for a rainy day.
Food good a little expencive, good customer service
The scone was lovely, great place for a break & a wonder round the shops
Beautiful store & catering - more of a day out than a stop & shop!
Amazing selection of high quality Scottish goods. Not cheap. The only coffee stop for a long way.
Very high quality goods, expensive but worth a visit
Lovely food hall. Pretty snobby however.
Certainly not dog friendly, as some reviews suggest.
