Been to N.O. many times but never stayed here before. This a great hotel! Located on St. Charles Street in downtown conveniently located. Walking distance to all downtown attractions and good eating places such as Emeril`s. Hotel was clean and newly renovated and service was great. Would stay here again!

I stayed here on business with a large group on business. We used the bar at the restaurant in the lobby regularly, and were consistently jumping on a shuttle to the MCC, or in an Uber or taxi. The back of the house staff was fantastic throughout the booking process. The front of the house staff was even more amazing... The concierge was extremely helpful, the bar and restaurant staff were wonderful, and the valet staff was always happy, smiling, and welcoming when we would come and go.
More personally, I accidentally left a very sentimental necklace of mine behind when I checked out. The process of calling to follow up and getting my necklace shipped back to me was easy and helpful. Huey was a true pleasure to work with and I am grateful for his service.

I have stayed in many hotels around the globe, and...
I have stayed in many hotels around the globe, and I have never had a bad experience until this one. Like a lot of people, we had booked a room for the weekend that T Swift was playing. We drove 3 hours to get to this hotel, walked into a room full of people backed up in the lobby, waited in line for about 20 minutes and then when we got to check in we find out that there is going to be a wait because the rooms are not ready yet . When I asked the receptionist for an estimated time for us to be allowed into the room we had booked, she was not permitted to give us any information, only it s going to be a wait . At that point I was a bit taken back. Why is a hotel of this standard not organized or prepared for people that had booked a room MONTHS ago for this event? The concert starts at 7pm - we waited 4 hours in the street because they were supposed to call us once the room was ready, so when it was 6:30pm we had to get ready in our car in a parking lot... could not shower or iron the clothes or enjoy a nice drink beforehand in our room as was planned. We finally got to the concert around 7:15pm, at which time the hotel called me to tell me that the room was ready... Luckily the concert was amazing and definitely took some of the annoyance and stress out of me. When we checked out of hotel the next morning, we asked if there is going to be any compensation for the inconvenience that we were all put in, especially since we were given no explanation as to why nothing was ready when we arrived. The receptionist said that there will be no compensation, only a drink at their bar or a snack from their gift shop?? Typically in these situations I have been given a hotel voucher or something a little more substantial, even in events that were a lot less awful than this one. We even tried calling the manager on our 3 hour drive back home, only to be told that he is with customers right now, you can leave him a voicemail and he will get back to you right away . Well... it s been longer than a day now and we still haven t received a call back, and I have a feeling that we are not going to be getting one in the near future. No manager was present at the desk the day that about 30 people were told that their rooms weren t ready for them! They were hiding away in the back making their poor receptionists deal with all the scrutiny from the customers.
I will continue staying at Intercontinental hotels (because I know they have a high standard to live up to), just not this one in NOLA. Sorry...
Do not book this hotel if there is any kind of popular event happening in town.

Staff is excellent and attentive. They followed up after room service see if all was ok, checked to make sure my room was cleaned to my liking. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Food is good and restaurant happy hours offer good value. Unfortunately, some rooms face the trains and are loud, otters face the parking deck where people can see into your room and car alarms go off, and others get noise from the cruise ships boarding. Just check on your room location and you should be fine.

I mean this doesn't scream Intercontinental to me. This older run down hotel needs lots of help before they should even think about charging 350+ a night. The internet everywhere in the hotel including conference areas was worse than dial up, the gym is from 1980, the pool needs major work, the lobby is OK, the rooms are OK, the bathrooms are better than average, the service overall in the hotel was average.
Would I stay at this Holiday Inn .... I mean Intercontinental again??? NOPE.
**Also never ever walk around New Orleans at night anymore. Unless you are directly in the French Quarter the town has become a war zone. Never walk back to your hotel, never walk even one block outside the FQ. "Knockout Game" is played here nightly but they (the city) tries to keep it under the radar, Muggings, people getting jumped, shootings, bums harrassing, sketchy ppl trying to take your $$ etc etc. This is no longer a safe tourist/conference destination.

Cold breakfast. Shabby rooms. Very unfriendly service. This hotel requires a serious overhaul when it comes to customer service, starting from the top. There was not warm greeting at check in. The front desk person could not find it ini her to smile even a little. There was no orientation to the hotel, what services are provided, any request to help with our luggage, or indeed any small gesture of warmth or attention to guest service that we have come to expect from Intercontinental. The rooms are shabby, run down and dated. The walls are paper thin, so we could hear our neighbors from both sides when they came in at night or getting ready to leave in the morning. The breakfast, that was included in our room charge, was meager and the hot food was lukewarm at best. We had coffee and appetizers at the bar one day. The appetizer, a combo of fried squid and shrimp, was horrible and was sent back. In New Orleans, to not be able to serve a reasonable breakfast or know how to fry shrimp, is unthinkable. Only saving grace was the location, close to Bourbon St. But with so many hotels in this area, I would look anywhere else first.

Overall it's a great hotel but there were some mistakes that happened. We did get compensation for the inconvenience so that was nice. The coffee maker was dirty. There was only one set of slippers and robe, which seems like oversight for a king size room.

My husband and I stayed here last weekend (8/21/15). I fell in love with this hotel. I loved the convenience of a covered drive-up and valet for check-in and parking. The hotel is beautiful and everyone I encountered from bell-hop (Hank) to concierge to room service to desk clerks were all very nice and helpful. The room we checked in for the first night's air conditioning did not work well so they changed our room for the next night (much better). The bed and pillows were super comfortable. Rooms were very clean with very updated decor. Cab service is always waiting out front. Food in the restaurants inside hotel was exceptionally good. Concierge helped book our tour (I will use a different tour company next time though). Location is great and safe feeling. They are a very busy hotel so there may be a little "wait" time for responses. We are returning to New Orleans in a couple of weeks to finish out our visit to several other sites there and I am booking this hotel again. (I don't understand the negative reviews but guess since they were a year ago maybe the hotel has worked really hard to better things).

Nice room, friendly staff. But the stay was spoiled by the payment experience. The room was paid in full through Expedia. But, when checking out, the intercontinental charged charged a second time for the same room the same night. When the funds were returned, three days later! Only part of it was. Where did the rest go? Services I understand. Not there. Taxes twice? No explanation ever given.

I recommend this hotel to anyone who asks me, "Where should I stay in New Orleans?" I stayed here with my kids for three days, visiting the Aquarium of the Americas, and just to see the city. I want to say how nice it was to stay at the Intercontinental - We loved the comfy beds (pillows galore), and breakfast. The staff were very helpful with directions and things to do around the city, it was VERY clean and well-kept, and I never waited more than 5 minutes for my car (This is WAY better than most of the other places I've stayed in New Orleans - one place was over an HOUR!!!). I will definitely be staying here again! There's just one word for Mr. Roberts and his staff: AMAZING.

Very nice spacuous rooms. On site restaurants. Check in was simple. Parking at the hotel is pricey $45 +tax per night. The room did not have a mini fridge or microwave so not convenient if you planned to eat out and take your left overs. Great location for a business trip as its in the heart of downtown. Also great location if you are in town for and event at the Superdome or the Arena. Walking distance to both as well as the casino.
The one issue I did have was there was a parade that no one mentioned and we were unable to get our rental car from valet. We were told they didnt know when we might be able to get it. While the manager was professional I did not appreciate being told it wasn't their fault (that they had my car and couldn't bring it to me or me to it) and how I needed to understand that even some of the staff was stuck unable to get their cars. As a customer, I am not interested in the excuses given. I was refunded a day of parking since we had to use Lyft to get to all scheduled events we had that day. I didn't feel appreciated as a rewards member. And as someone who trains customer service, I hardly think a manager needs to go into all the excuses. Fix the issue and move on. It certainly wasn't my fault they put my car somewhere and couldn't get it and didn't tell me in advance if they park it I wouldnt have access to it for at least half a day.

Good location 8 minutes from the French Quarter. Super comfy beds, fairly quiet, and so far good service. TVs are nice, HD and got to catch Game of Thrones new episode on HBO. Breakfast at Pete's was pretty good but expensive for buffet at $25/pp. I'd stay here again, good value for money.

Sink was set fairly far in on the counter and it was difficult to use it without getting water everywhere.

Pretty much what you'd expect from a top tier hotel... unless you're committed, expect to pay to valet park, and carts are only for the bellman who will handle your luggage, for a tip of course. I parked my own car, and we carried our few bags and saved $50, min., I'm sure. Rooms were perfect, staff were accommodating, professional and nice, and breakfast was worth the difference in room cost without a doubt! Do NOT get the slightly cheaper room, it does not come with breakfast! (Yes, I tipped.) We had a view of the concrete was of the adjacent building... ask for a view if you want one. Still, nicest place I've stayed in ages.

Four nights, overall a nice stay but very different between the weekday and the weekend. This is a very nice hotel and I'd hoped far enough away from the quarter to to skip the crushing rabble of Bourbon Street. We had some issues with noise, however, both from neighbors and from construction next door, and the desk could not find earplugs. Also, I came on business and needed a 'wet signature' on some documents. I had a very bad experience with their 'business center' (the computer charged $11 for a 10 minute session just to try and print the doc, then ran out of paper before the job was done), and the front desk scanner was broken. I had no luck at the UPS across the street, either. I know that's a bit unusual but I was working on a real estate deal that needed an ink signature. As long as you don't need to deal with paperwork while you're there, and bring your own earplugs, you'll possibly survive. The concierge was friendly and the staff as well, they just weren't very persistent when a problem arose.

The location was ideal just outside the French Quarter but within easy tram , taxi , or walking distance of everything really. Staff were all helpful including the concierge. They couldn't do enough to help . We ate one night in the hotel restaurant and that was enjoyable. Room was excellent and of a high standard . Could recommend a stay in this hotel .

Each May, my beautiful mon c ur and I make the trek from Florida to New Orleans for an old friend's annual Birthday Bash!
Wouldn't miss it for the world. We love the road trip, the party and all the excitement The Big Easy can dish out!
There are PLENTY of Hotels and room options available, the competition is fierce, especially since it also just happened to be Mother's Day weekend. Each year we've booked a room at a different hotel, hoping to, but never quite finding a place we could call home.
This year was different, as I do believe we finally found our home away from home!
Upon check-in, there was an immediate issue. What I will say is this.
It is NOT the issue itself, but rather how well the establishment handles the issue.
Our concerns fell into the more than capable hands of Davis S, who went FAR ABOVE and BEYOND to ensure a prompt resolution and our COMPLETE SATISFACTION!
What could have been a less than stellar stay turned into a magical and thoroughly enjoyable stay.
Standing with, and backing up Davis, was the manager Brookelyn! She used her authority and position to unconditionally GUARANTEE our visit would be memorable for ALL the RIGHT reasons!
Knowing Intercontinental New Orleans has folks like Davis and Brookelyn in their family of staff makes us 110% positive we can, and will recommend this beautiful hotel property. We are already looking forward to booking next year's Birthday Journey with them!
Now, let's talk about the hotel itself.
Our gorgeous room was a suite on the 10th floor. With two sides of windows in the huge living room overlooking St Charles Avenue, this is where we chilled and entertained. The bedroom was as large as most typical hotel rooms in itself, with a monstrously comfy king sized bed.
The spacious bathroom had a large marble lined shower, his and her vanity areas and a bubbling de-troubling jetted bathtub.
We 'almost' didn't want to leave our room, but the call of the Cajun(food) and the partying mood ultimately won out!
Saturday night late, after returning from our party, we got a case of the midnight snackies....LOL
The weather had turned foul, or should it be called fowl?? Blowing winds and hard driving rain hammered the glass of our first class palace.
We made it as far as the lobby, but NO way were we venturing out in this weathering heights melee!
Noticing our hunger panged predicament, Brookelyn(Manager Extraordinaire) came to our refreshment rescue! She had several recommendations on where we could order our midnight munchies that would include delivery! We quickly settled on and ordered our storm-bound snackage..
Brookelyn visited with us as she handled her more important managerial duties, always with a smile, as we waited for the poor bagged burger carrying rain-soaked bicycle man.
That night we soundly slept with dill pickle breath sweet smiles on our weary faces...ahhhhhhhhhhhh.
If you are in New Orleans in the year 2020, around Mother's Day, you'll see us dancing about & prancing in and out of the Intercontinental New Orleans.
Tell them John & Beth sent ya, then share in our Joie de Vivre!
