The staff was professional, helpful and friendly. The building itself is under a bit of renovation but still is nice. The room we stayed in was nice also. No complaints at all. It was also nice that Starbucks was seconds away from the lobby.
My girlfriend had to go to the ER twice due to the super strong soap that they use. Her face was severely swollen from the allergic reaction. The soap smells exactly like Wintergreen smokeless tobacco. Not even kidding!
I got to visit one of the suites which had one of the most beautiful views of D.C. I would totally love to stay there for business or pleasure!
The location is pretty nice, the room itself is clean and spacious with lots of ports for charging and USB, there's a Starbucks attached to this hotel, and when I asked for slippers, got these nice American flag slippers.
The reason I'm rating it low is we had two luggage mishaps in our very short stay. First was the first night we checked in, we got a knock on our door for some luggage, but we already had our luggage delivered to our room. They had the wrong room, okay, mistakes happen. But then, when we were checking out, we still had business in the area, so we checked our luggage into the hotel with them. We had the luggage checked in, but I forgot to add my backpack, so I handed it over to the receptionist who said they will just add the item next to our other stuff. When we came back for our checked luggage, we got all of our luggage except my backpack. It took the hotel 30 minutes to find my backpack, and they found out, they left it in another guest's room with other luggage they delivered to the room! Luckily I had all my stuff, but something seriously could have gotten lost.
It's ridiculous that I had two luggage mishaps in a two night stay. You would think a pricey hotel would be very careful with personal items, but this experience is just unacceptable.
Valet parking was not so great. The restaurant is good. Washrooms are downstairs.
Good service and great happy hour specials. Location is also sublime.
Customer service was a complete joke. The pictures are fake probably from when they renovated it. Everything is old and has a weird smell. Wouldnt recommend at all.
They cheated us. We hired 1 room for 4 people and they gave us 2 full beds. We had to pay 200 dollars more to get what we had hired. Booking did not answer
Nice hotel, not too fancy, but good location and reasonable price. Clean, wi fi is, or should be complimentary, gym, and basic restaurant bar.
We sat at this gem of a hotel every visit to DC. Right off the McPherson Square Metro for the blue/orange/silver lines, and a short walk to the Red. Really nice if you us transit to get around.
Excellent staff and easy to get a cab.
I stayed one night here as I had an important appointment in DC right around the corner from the hotel. It was a quiet, pleasant stay. I could cast Netflix from my phone onto the TV in the room; bed was comfy. They will hold your luggage for you after you check out, which was useful to me as I didn't want to carry it to my appointment. The valet was convenient as well (can leave you car valeted until 3pm).
I always try to stay at this hotel when I'm in DC for work. It's in a great area near good restaurants and 2 minutes from a metro station. The rooms themselves aren't huge, but they are comfortable and the beds are very nice. The staff is super friendly and constantly asking how they can help you. As a matter of fact, the manager and staff went above and beyond this most recent stay. I dropped my wedding ring in the elevator and it rolled into the crack at the door and down the elevator shaft. The manager had his engineering office look not once, but twice for it and they found it for me. And for that, I'll always be grateful for the caring staff at The Hamilton Hotel. Thanks guys!
Room was nice but check in process was horrible and slow. Only one elevator was working so you had to give yourself 15 minutes to get upstairs and down. When I was checking out I just wanted the hotel to hold my bags at the front desk for a few hours and I had to wait in a long terrible line for that too. Very disappointing as I ve heard great things about this hotel. Overall, I wish I stayed somewhere else.
The Hamilton hotel is a staple in Washington, DC for great food, beverages, and service.
This Hotel has potential but right now restaurant is closed and that was not made clear to us upon booking. Only 1 elevator car appeared to be in service so getting down to the lobby was a fairly long wait. Staff was very friendly but since our room was not as advertised, they called us in the room to tell us they were comping our parking fee. This was not done and thankfully we had gone directly to the desk to check out. The "Facility Fee" of $22.00 plus $3.29 in tax was excessive and considering the fact that the hotel is under construction and has no facilities to speak of, should have been waived. Our room was clean but both bathroom and room were very small. I would NOT stay in this hotel again until all construction is complete. It is not worth the price and does not deserve the 4 stars it appears to have.
Beautiful rooms and attentive staff. I would stay again.
Place is good but there are no vending machines or ice to take to the room
Fun little hotel in the downtown area. Close to the sights (like Monument and White House). A little bit in a restaurant desert but the front desk staff was nice. Would be nice to have a little more food options in the hotel (only the nice and expensive Via Sophia).
Pros: fast, free and convenient wifi. Helpful housekeeping staff. Starbucks inside. Decent gym.
Cons: For having 4 elevators, they are slow and always seem busy. No pool. Limited vending/sundries.
Very slow elevators wait a lot to go up and down. Good hotel well located, Bells very friendly.
This place would have got a 5 almost if not for their policy of a 4 pm check-in (check out is 11 AM). While I understand that this is their policy, I would have been thrilled if they were okay to give the room to us at least an hour or two before 4 PM. The rooms are spacious and clean. The mini bar is well stocked (again, quite surprised that they didn t offer one bottle of water complimentary - we got that in NYC hotels). Overall a great hotel and at a fantastic location.
The concierge team is excellent. The person helped us with the hop on and off tour and he was so patient in explaining the entire tour and the city monuments to us.
Definitely a place to consider if you re looking for hotels in Washington DC.
Was there for happy hour. Good portions at a nice price. Good quality.
Booked a double bed room for 2 nights on the weekend to see the sights, on arrival the room was sold and we were forced to a king suite with sofa bed for my brother and me. Bad taste in my mouth right away. No waters in room when we step in. We tell the front desk and the excuse is the employee who stocks the mini-bar left, bottled water is $10, or you can go to the CVS around the corner . Really? Rooms were nothing special, elevators were broken causing over crowding.
Hotel is a joke, STAY AWAY!
Lovely hotel, friendly staff, great rooms - would recommend
It's OK. Looks fancy, though beds could be better, and they could offer free WiFi.
Overall a good experience. My key card rarely worked in the elevators. I brought ot to their attention, they just gave me another key card that didnt work. Walls are a bit thin. They put crying kids on both sides of me. Fair amount of police activity and if the president is in town, don't be surprised if his noisy rides drive by a few times. Rooms always cleaned well and like the location!
Nice older hotel, convenient to Blue line, Starbucks in hotel.
Call first! I stayed in February 2019 and the hotel is under construction. Must schlep bag up and down a flight of stairs to reach the lobby to check in. Drilling began on my floor before 7 AM. Still safe and clean: just difficult and loud.
Don't stay on the 14th floor! There is a deep rumbling from some machinery there that will keep you awake and may end up giving you a headache. We tried two different rooms, and 1444 was the unbearable one. Management was aware of the noise issue but put us there anyway, and were quick with a backup plan with a modest Norse reduction. Wouldn't stay here again.
All rooms should have a fridge vice having to request one. Great location close to a lot of the nightlife. Lima right across the street. Nice bar to pregame and decide the next move. Also, they offer great facilities for professionals.
Loud place!! Definitely not sound proof. Elevators were broke
Simple hotel ... highly recommended ... very attentive staff
Overpriced, had an experience where the toilet was clogged and flooded the room!!
Most unpleasant hotel experience in a very long time. Staff did not respect request for privacy and entered room even with privacy placard in place while I was out. Desk staff completely unhelpful in resolving the issue. Elevator noise in the room was very loud and kept me up all night. Could hear every noise from the neighbors. Walls are paper thin. Stay somewhere else.
Great location for visiting the Mall or Smithsonian. Rooms were spacious and quiet for city center. Excellent dinner at the restaurant in the lobby.
Only one elevator working in the hotel. Otherwise staff is very nice!! Great location
Very nice hotel, no parking available and offers conceirge service at 53 dollars a day which is rediculous. Very unhappy about parking. Also noticed staff being mean to a homeless person. And homeless outside of hotel is extremely bad, was haggled for money multiple times a day.
High price on beverages inside room, no parking include, no breakfast include, when do you come to drop your suitcase and luggage you can park in front of the hotel but when you leave, they send to you park the car turn the corner.
We were pleased with our stay here. Comfy beds, clean. We were informed about certain amenities that would be covered by a $28 fee gym, unlimited channels, shoe shining service... However, since we only booked a room to sleep and were at a show until late, and left early, we didn't have any need or desire to take advantage of any of these amenities. We felt it was silly to be charged that fee and not have that included in the room fee just don't like surprise fees. Otherwise, happy with our stay!
My 5 star review from last year is being edited to the following
Change in management shows, and its disappointing. Room not ready upon arrival had to wait over an hour despite reservation made well in advance, dust everywhere, beat up furniture, broken door knob in the bathroom, no complimentary water, not enough towels or cloths without having to ask for more...I'm from the south, we hate to "make trouble" so I expect everything to be there without asking for more. Elevators made loud clacking noises all night and didn't always work reading keys, had to take stairs. Not handy with a broken foot and luggage.
Due to the loud clacking elevator noises we requested to change rooms before we left (the following day of check-in) Upon our return we were given keys to a new room. Imagine our surprise when we got to our new room...in front of the elevators, just a different floor. We again were short towels and cloths, desk dusty, no makeup mirror, no complimentary water...I over looked it all and grabbed a bottle from the fridge...$7 or $8 per the card. Can't swallow pills without it...
When asked via text if there was anything they could do for me, I was polite, never complained and kept all these "disappointments" to myself. Having had an exhausting day I asked for a late check-out...I was told 1 hour. Til noon. After much thought, I requested a manager override to allow me to stay until 2 pm. I was told it would be an additional $50. I agreed as my flight didn't leave until 5. Seemed ok. Upon checkout at 2 I was instead told it would be $136 due to a facility fees. When I advised them I wasn't told and maybe my company was covering that charge she advised me no, it was mine because I stayed longer. The bottle of water on top the mini fridge was noted to cost 7 or 8 per their card but the front desk said, $10. When I advised them there wasn't a complimentary bottle of water in my room to take meds, she advised me they don't do that...which is when I learned new management had taken over. So if management reads this, you should know my stay last year was 5 stars with thousands of views on google. Everything was perfect and everyone went out of their way to accommodate. Room was spotless, never had to ask for anything. Your text request for my review could not be contained so I have removed my 5 star review from Google and given you this.
I would not choose this hotel again and can only hope if I come back that our company was frustrated enough with arguing over the facility fees that they book us elsewhere.
Be careful - I never received my incidental hold money back. I have emailed them multiple times over the last few months without any response straight to their email at the hotel desk which I know is monitored and through their website contact us page. Not even an acknowledgement response. Very unimpressed.
Great service. Quick to give new room when there was a problem with original room. Food is a little expensive for what you get.
My experience was wonderful in the hotel,I love the location, very nice employees, the most things better for me was the food in the hotel restaurant,I would like come back again.
My husband and I were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary this was our first time ever in Washington DC staff was very friendly, beds are super comfortable.. we plan on coming back thanks for the great hospitality
My college and I just found out that this hotel double charged facility fee and taxes($114.96, $28.74 per day) without any explanations.
When I checked out, hotel clerk made me pay for facility fee which I never heard of. And even worse this hotel charged us facility fee again through deposit card.
It's been more than a week since I asked explanations through hotel e-mail but they do not even respond.
Other hotels never charge this kind of additional payment.
When you reserve this hotel, you have to aware that you will have to pay almost $30 a day without any explanations. And It can be charged again without permission through deposit card.
Location, location, location....The location is excellent to walk to bars, restaurants, monuments.
Clean room and comfy bed. The entrance is on the side and would be confusing if they didn't have explicit signs.
Room was nice, but the employees were a bit cold. Not rude, just a little blunt and not overly nice. Overall I enjoyed the stay.
Very nice and ornate building. Conference rooms were roomy and we were provided with plenty of coffee and water. The staff was also very kind and helpful when answering questions.
I stayed at the Hamilton Hotel in August, in addition to comfortable rooms, excellent location and helpful staff, the concierge Antonio Brown was truly exceptional in solving my problem with relocation to New York. Really beyond all expectations! strongly recommended.
Attended a reception at this hotel, but have also stayed here in the past. The staff were very kind. Really enjoyed the variety of appetizers available. It is close to the metro which makes it easy to get around DC for whatever you're in town for.
The hotel is located conveniently in downtown DC, so we had everything we needed nearby! The rooms are clean and service is great, especially the men at the door.
Lovely hotel. Everyone friendly and helpful. Great area for seeing the sights. Would stay again.
I would recommend staying somewhere else, elevators are super slow to sometimes wait 5 mins for one! Service is D- waited 30 mins for the luggage carrier. Everything was very slow!!!
A stellar hotel. Great location and very nice inside.
Clean & spacious. We were lucky that they accomodated our request to have our room on their high floors and away from the elevators. We'll definitely go back here.
Absolutely amazing hotel. Beautiful and great service.
Comfortable rooming though the room service can be slow. Had to call multiple times to get room service to come.
Beautiful hotel!! Cannot wait until Via Sophia opens in May!!
Great food and service and the rooms have nice views
Great hotel, great bar/restaurant and the rooms are updated and relatively modern rooms. My only complaint is that the staff seemed aloof at times and the parking situation is not great if you bring your own car (or a rental). The location is good and pretty close to alot of food as well.
A great welcome hotel very central very good memory
Stayed in the district Labor Day weekend for a family event and had an amazing stay at the Hamilton. The location is within walking distance of tons of restaurants, bars, and attractions, including the museums, which was our main draw. Our hotel experience was amazing as well. The front desk and house cleaning staff were friendly and efficient, and our room (the executive suite) was spacious and clean. And really nicely made up. Excited for our next stay here!!
Our vacation was going pretty horribly until we switched from the Donovan to the Hamilton. A little pricey, but it made our stay ten times better. Close to the national mall, walking distance to all of the museums. No pool, and no free continental breakfast, but there's a Keurig machine in the room, mini fridge (mini bar, room service, if you want to pay for them)... It's a nice set up.
Beware of resort fees in dc though. Make sure you ask about exact taxes and resort fees.
Great stay. Very friendly staff and convenient to many downtown locations.
The only reason to split the nightly charge into the room fee and a 25/night facilities fee is to mislead your guests. Trick them into booking the competitive online price, then charge more.
Great hotel, with the perfect experience from the moment you arrive until the moment you leave. Everyone is very friendly and doing everything to assist you during the stay. The room was super nice and clean. The location was also perfect.
I've traveled the world and stayed at the finest hotels, somehow this hotel manages to be a cut above the rest. The decor, dining and mostly EXCEPTIONAL customer service. 6 Stars, great location. Highly recommended! I'll be back.
It was great all around. Wise the check in was earlier.
We had a queen size room but we were given a full size room which was clearly meant for only one person, not two guests as the reservation stated (we did try to take it up at the front desk to no avail). Also the room seems to have not been ready by the time we got there and they were scrambling to find a room.
Great historical hotel (that has been nicely renovated) right downtown just north of the White House.
Lovely hotel in a perfect location for exploring the sites of Washington.
Very friendly staff and good customer service.
Our room was a little small but clean and modern.
Terrible service. Small rooms. Uncomfortable beds. No restaurant. Pictures are not accurate for the hotel. Stay somewhere else.
I reserved two nights directly on their website. When I arrived, they let me know there was no record of my reservation in third system. I showed them my confirmation and they told me their system has been making errors. They put me in a cab and sent me to a nearby hotel (Hilton Garden) letting me know they would take care of the details. I arrived at the hotel and they said they had no idea what I was talking about. They called the Hamilton and determined that the Hamilton had sent me to the wrong hotel. I walked back to the Hamilton (10 minutes at 10pm at night) and they apologized. I requested speaking to the manager. He said there was nothing they could do. They sent me to another Hilton Garden (farther out of downtown area) and checked in with no issues. The next day I paid for an Uber to get back to the Hamilton. They checked me into my second night, gave me coupons for free breakfast and two free drinks at the bar, and upgraded my room. They took care of the bill from the Hilton Garden. This was not a pleasant experience. If I were rating and reviewing on this experience only, it would be a one star. However, my experience the second night was quite delightful. The room was fantastic.
