Wow outstanding onion rings and our waiter was correct about how yummy the tomato basil soup is.

Service was great and food was delicious. The atmosphere was everything! Loved the old Texas small town feel.

This place was great. The Ribs and Steaks are fantastic. The best Tomatillo Chicken I have EVER had (ever). We walked around the building for an extra hour taking pictures.. Cool stuff.

I don't like to eat the same place over and over, but I ate here 3 times last week while in the area on vacation. I love the ribs, chicken salad sandwich, mashed potatoes, broccoli and cheese soup, and onion rings. Not a fan of the coleslaw, and had better margaritas, but overall I love this place. Expect to wait to be seated, it's always busy because it is so good. I wish this place wasn't four hours from home.

Great food, good service. Great location. I ve eaten here a few times and the food quality has been consistently good, although not special. There can be a looong wait (as evidenced by the cattle-style holding pens for people), but if you hit off times there s plenty of space. When they re busy I ve seen a dip in quality overall, with a definite rushed feel to the whole experience.

Always great service food, and atmosphere. Highly recommend to take groups and in town visitors.

The place is beautiful. I ordered the cheese burger on the menu, the bread was soggy and I told that to the waitress, the manager came immediately ( I didn t ask for it) and he was very kind and offer me another burger. I m definitely coming back, maybe just ask for another thing in the menu.

Awesome place to eat, dine, visit with friends and family! There are lots of great choices for every appetite. Even heathy~ish choices. LOL

The views are spectacular from the lower deck, and the music area is thriving at night with great bands. Awesome destination anytime you visit the New Braunfels area.

Absolutley love this place!! I've been coming here for years and have loved it every single time. Unbeatable views of the Guadalupe River and an amazing atmosphere with food that always delivers! A must stop if even remotley near-by, wont disappoint!

Food and service is always great. And despite always eating to much...we try to always save room for their amazing desserts. But at $6 fir a piece of cake or pie, I would expect more than a 2 inch slice?? Oh well, the dinner was amazing. Staff is often students from local college or high schools but always have a smile!

Dyid was good. Good choices. Atmosphere was to notch. Happened to walk in with a waitress coming on shift. She was quite friendly and helpful. The wait went pretty quick. The misters and fans in the waiting area were fantastic.

Salad wasn't great but cute restaurant. Just too hot to eat. No AC..lol

Beautiful view and good food. It is popular, esp. on the weekend, so be ready for a wait. Also, dress light in the summer as most of the seating is outdoors.

Very nice atmosphere both inside and out. Food is always delicious, and the portions are large. The prices are a little high, but the nice setting makes up for that.

Overpriced. Chicken fried chicken was undercooked, still pink in the middle. Sent it back and an explination was provided that chicken cartiledge 'doesn't turn white and will stay pink when cooked ' but then, 'We made sure we cooked this me one all the way '.

Also had a filet mignon (ordered medium rare) come very rare. Sent back immediately, and the exact same steak that was cut into was cooked and returned. I've never seen a place do that before.... hope they cook everyone else's food on a separate grill (food safety).

The "chopped steaks" were ground beef.... essentially Salisbury steak... that costs $16.

Overall, the kitchen was providing awful food. The servers were polite, but I was disappointed they made a poor cover story instead of owning up to a substandard kitchen (saying that chicken stays fleshy pink due to a vein).

The side dishes and appetizers were nice. The bar drinks were great.

Been many times, have always had great friendly service and good food. Generally a wait, so it's good to plan for some time out in the patio with their live music and a Bloody Mary or beer.

Massive onion rings and burger slathered in queso. Chicken salads are massive and tasty.

It was nice but I think they forgot us. We went to the graduation at the alamodome. When we got to the restaurant and put it names down they said we had 11/2 hours but it ended up being over 3 hours whereas most people didn't have to. We had a long trip home to Azle afterwards. We had not been able to eat before the graduation so therefore extremely hungry and tired. I doubt if I will ever come back.

Great town to walk around in and this restaurant was amazing. If you order the TX size onion rings, you better have lots of friends or TX size stomach. Good food!

The Gristmill never disappoints my family. Great environment, great food. Be sure to get there early. This place brings quite the crowd and long wait times.

Had a great experience. Service and food was 10/10. Texas torpedoes are a must try. I put one in my butt!! Had some shiner bock to go with it as well as my main entree was the Guadalupe chopped beef. Mmm delish. Will be going back for sure.

Absolutely PERFECT! We have eaten here many times and it's best attribute is their amazing consistency! They have a very strong group of customers favorites.... and have remained true to them. Staff is wonderful and work hard. From the front door staff all the way to bussers they work as a team. Tables DON'T sit dirty or open for long.
With the capacity of seating and feeding 1000 guests at a time ( YES it is no typo. One THOUSAND guests when full) They must work as a machine... but the place and the staff and the menu is much more like Home in Texas. Don't miss it!!

This place provides such a wonderful dining experience. The scenery is nice and the food is amazing. The catfish and the chopped steak meals are top notch.

Worst place ever!!! Who puts tomatoes on ceasar salad!?! We sat in the heat for an hour waiting on seating. It was more cooler outside then in the Grismill. We ordered the chicken fried steak and pull pork sandwich. The chicken fried steak lack seasoning and the pull pork sandwich was dry. Wouldn't recommend this place to noone.

Good food, nice atmosphere, lots of wine. Beautiful scenery, if your going get there either early or later in the day. Parking is very hard to find.

Sat outside with a view of the river and had one of the best steaks I've ever had. Would recommend the Caesar salad (it comes with pico on top)

It was my first time and I love the atmosphere, there was a long wait but you got to sit and listen to a singer songwriter playing his guitar. The food was excellent , my husband had the ribs and when he tried to pick one of them up the bones fell clean off... if that tells you anything , I also had the trout that was absolutely amazing. I can't say enough good things about this place

Had the bacon wrapped filet, cole slaw and mashed potatoes. Apple pie for dessert. All excellent! Table mates were all pleased with their choices. Server Dylan was kind and attentive. Highly recommended, get there early.

We've eaten here several times but today was a great disappointment. The onion rings crust fell off just picking them up from the plate, the chicken fried chicken was way over cooked & the hamburgers were a soggy mess 1/2 way in eating it. It'll be awhile before we go back.

Came here on vacation and we wanted to sit by the river and sadly it started to rain. Our amazing waitress moved us to the inside and we ordered the chicken fried steak. Oh my it was so delicious! I recommend getting a basket of fries because they were also so good. We want to come back soon!!

I use to work here. Don't order any type of salad, I've seen bugs in the lettuce and they just pick them out. One empoyee played with a lady bug they found in the lettuce, while making salads and they were sent out to customers. They treat their employees like slaves and have to pay for our own meals when working long shifts. They couldn't even remember my name and I worked there for a year.

Food was warm and delicious. I ordered the tomatillo chicken with bean sauce on the side. Nice spice and tang! Waitress was very attentive. Treehouse feel and view was spectacular!

We had the spinach artichoke dip and it was delicious. Hubby had the valentines day special. Steak was cooked perfectly. Portions are huge and everything tasted good. I had the potato soup. It was delicious but barely warm. And it is cold inside. I had to put my coat back on and I saw three other ladies do the same.

My favorite restaurant in Texas! Fantastic spinach and artichoke dip and the Rib eye is always perfect!

Saw the good reviews and they were correct. The scenery around the restaurant is awesome. If the weather allows, sit outside. You are at treetop level. I had the chicken fried steak and it was huge and flavorful. Service was great also.

If you are traveling to New Braunfels for the river, this should be one of your restaurant stops. The atmosphere is fenominal and with a party of 20, we were immediately seated and there was no complaints on the food. The staff was friendly and took care of every request.
