The food and refreshments are unremarkable, and the location is unlikely, but zOMG! Watching the actors leap from role to role, both at the front door, in the kitchen, and on the stage, was mesmerizing. We watched one of their shows with our grandkids and we all enjoyed it so much that we're all going back again to see the other. Excellent!

This place is absolutely not for families with you...

This place is absolutely not for families with young children or babies. My wife was told to take our sleeping baby out of his carseat because it was a fire hazard. Then once we had to retreat to the rest area because we had woken him up we were approached and told that we could purchase the extra seat we had our child on prerequisite that we pay $12. Nevermind that we had a handicap seat reserverved and paid for but was not in use due to our handicap guest being in a wheelchair. That chair was taken from us and then offered back for payment. How the hell are we going have our 3 month old occupy their own seat. I cant even review the show because this situation was handled so poorly my family ended up waiting until Intermission to tell them we we leaving and had sat in the car. Not impressed with how this was handled and our tickets were not refunded either even though we missed the entire show.

The Great American Melodrama has been a family favorite for 20+ years! Always well run, reasonably priced, and some great theater. Slap stick comedy, pupeteering and musicals, coupled with well trained actors in fabulous costumes and sets are the well attended entertainment...get your tickets early if possible. The "snack bar" open before the play begins and during intermissions serves wine, beer, popcorn, hot dogs, coffee, GREAT deserts, and more...and maybe the most fun part you are served by the actors! Season tickets are a deal! Enjoy!

What a fun experience. The cast make all aspects of the evening enjoyable. Scary Poppins was a cute show. I can't wait to go again. I would definitely recommend for a fun family friendly night out. Not recommended for children under 10 since they may not be able to sit that long without being disruptive.

Enjoyed our evening very much! What a terrific surprise to find such BIG talent in such a compact venue. The seating on the floor is tight but there are two intermissions and you don't even notice once the show starts. I would go back in a heartbeat! Thanks for the "How the West was Really Won" show and a great celebration of my parents 55th anniversary.

Not much else to say here that hasn't already been said. This is by far the best place we have on the Central Coast for entertainment value. You're not going to get a good boo hiss show anywhere else. It's a real gem sitting in Oceano. The people who work there, the cast and crew, are very talented and also work their butts off as your servers, hosts and hostesses during the show. Plan on being there for two and a half to three hours with two intermissions. Plenty of great food to eat and drinks. If you're only in town for a little while, make sure you get tickets to go see a show. Season ticket subscribers since 2009.

The Melodrama is such a fun thing to do in the afternoon or evening.. We are lucky to have it here. The young actors are so talented and full of energy. They're amazing to watch. We will definitely be attending another performance.

The holiday show is incredible! Like many professions in this area, we are blessed with amazing talent that you can normally only find in large metropolitan areas. However, keen souls are drawn to the Central Coast, thankfully. Intimate, classic, lively, hilarious, corny, and heart warming. Take the family, put the phones down, and get away from the screens for a couple hours.

Always fun and never a dull moment at the Melodrama in Oceano, California. Just ten minutes south of Pismo,on the Highway 1.Playing now and for a few weeks more is the ever so adventurous, "Treasure Island"!A comedy with twists and turns, that leaves you on the edge of your seat with suspense and laughter. Safe for the whole family and good for your soul. Better than any television or movie date any day! Bring the whole family and get there a few minutes early so you can get some drinks and some snacks before you sit down and watch the tale unfold. They've got everything from hot dogs to nachos ,cakes and pies, beer ,wine, soda and plenty of cold water and goodies to accommodate all of you swashbuckling pirates that are 400 years too late. Go get you some fun and some good memories to log in with your close friends and loving family. Certainly gives you a good welcoming feeling of family and wholesome entertainment. You'll definitely come back for another show. They usually change up about every 2 to 3 months during the year, prices are very reasonable and they have annual passes for you die hard theatrical buffs. Go for your birthday go for your anniversary just go either way. They will celebrate your highly anticipated attendance. Don't be shy get involved, have, boo, clap, cheer and get involved with the vaudeville entertainment at the Great American Melodrama in Oceano California.if you have never been I highly recommend you getting your tickets and going to see a live performance. Once you go you will be a loyal patron for years to come.I will be 49 this year and I have been going since I was 18. And laugh every time! Thanks a million for the cast in tonight's performance and of course thank you to all of the former actors and actresses that made me a huge fan for life.PS don't forget 2 tip the snack bar and the piano player anytime and especially after the show. Sincerely JC

This place is so much fun and has a long history of keeping it lively in SLO. We attended the Christmas special with family and it was a blast for all ages. Get there early if you want food and drinks before the first act. They are big on participation and a bit risque, which adds to the experience.
