Expensive mediocre lunch, slow service despite being half full. Perhaps the only reason to go here is to escape crowds. Pool table was practically destroyed. Room refrigerators are pumpless type that chill to wine cooling temperature and are the depth.of a half gallon milk carton. Room furniture was banged up. Bathrooms were nice if that's what you're looking for.

Nice hotel complex, spacious living room and bedroom. Service always ready to help in need. On the premises parking and many places for guests where YouTube everyone will find something for themselves. Small sandy beach with sun loungers and sport equipment rental.

My family stayed here for a week in early December. For the price we paid ($249/night +tax/resort fee, inclusive of breakfast), I have no major complaints. Had I been paying more, I likely would have been disappointed a bit.

Overall, it s beautiful property with little waterfalls everywhere, a small beach, a sea turtle sanctuary area, and a nice pool. Staff are friendly. Not sure I would stay here again unless we got a similar deal.

I have it 4 stars instead of 5 because:
1. Bathtub did not hold water properly....an issue for us as we had our child with us.
2. Room, while big, felt uninspired in terms of decor. No Hawaiian influences.
3. Kids 5 and under eat free had so many restrictions (no meat dishes on the free menu) that in the end we just gave up trying.
4.No welcome lei on arrival (we arrived at midnight)
5.No lighting on balcony....
6. Kids club was only operational if they had 2 or more kids....so we could not plan shared for an adult dinner

Stayed here last weekend. Not really feeling the Aloha nor 5 star service.
There was zero service at the pool for two days straight. No towel people or food service.
I'm very disappointed and will not stay here again.

Went to the beach for the day, was able to rent equipment and they even had a bar where you could order drinks and food. The poke was amazing and so was the ginger mule drink. Awesome Pina coladas, too. The only thing was the outdoor bathroom sign was a little confusing, and my boyfriend told me he almost went in the wrong one. When I went in, I came out to wash my hands and there was a guy in the restroom who was suddenly embarrassed he was in the wrong restroom.

The ocean view room we had was so beautiful. The grounds were gorgeous. I wish they had an adult pool, but the pool they have is large and beautiful, basically swimming right on the ocean. Breakfast buffet had lots of options and the service was fantastic

The staff is very warm and friendly. They're very attentive. The grounds and amenties are very pleasing and are detailed in some nicely unexpected ways that make all areas of this resort relaxing and pleasant to be in. The opening on to the pool and beach just past the main entrance is so inviting that you could easily pass by the reception desk without realizing it was there.

This was the surprise hotel of the trip. Didn't know what to expect. I have to say I was so impressed with the quality of the hotel, service, and staff that we will be returning. Check in was so accommodating. The rooms were excellent. The restaurants were great. I really don't think the pictures online do it justice. Just a beautiful property. Private beach. A turtle sanctuary on site. I was amazed how many people don't adhere to the sign do not go near the turtles as they are protected. We even saw a Mantra Ray from the shore. Would definitely return.

The staff is amazing and extremely welcoming and the room was perfect. The pool is beautiful but would benefit from a swim up bar. The open layout of the hotel is very cool but i feel that the grounds needs a lounge with a view that has ac so you can escape the heat if it becomes too much. But by far a incredible place to be and has turned my eyes to resort vacationing in the future.

So glad we stayed here on our honeymoon! Not crowded at all, stunning grounds and beaches, and the most professional and welcoming staff. They made our honeymoon so intimate and beaitiful

Absolutely fantastic! Very friendly staff, from the valet parking guys to the room service ladies to the front desk and the folks at the restaurants!! They are all great! The room was great too! Clean and comfortable with an awesome view! The gardens throughout the entire property is so tranquil! The water falls and features are exquisite! The beach area is ideal for whatever you want to do; swim, wade, paddle board, snorkle, etc. We love everything about this property!

Beautiful hotel and conference center on the coast (Hana, Maui is visible across the water). Removed from the "larger" communities on the big Island, but amenities are close by. There is a car rental shop located here. There are several beautiful open air courtyards within the hotel that are lovely to soak up the sun between sessions of conferences, and the hotel's refreshments and meals were varied and delicious. I hope that I am able to attend future events here and highly recommend it to those seeking a high-end venue tomhost a conference, wedding, or vacation.

It's a paradise amidst old lava fields on the western side of Big Island. It's a beautifully built resort, with a small private beach. Booking the ocean view room is not worth the price difference, though, as the garden view is plenty gorgeous.

GREAT. Entire staff was fantastic throughout our stay. "Beach boy" John, "Brown's Deli Server" Sara, and "Bellman" Mike all made our stay more enjoyable. Hotel was beautifully located and impeccably maintained. Thank You for the memorable vacation from my entire family. See you again....Aloha

Would be hard to overstate the friendliness and service of the staff here. They have really gone above and beyond to make the stay fantastic. In the spirit of trying to support this great hotel and it s employees, here s a quick rundown of what it is like staying here during the pandemic, along with a bit of advice for navigating the Covid test. First, the hotel has gone to great lengths to ensure that care is taken to minimize the risk of Covid exposure. This includes additional sterilization of both in- and out-of-room surfaces that you might come into contact with. On arrival in your room you are also given a kit including a mask, gloves, wipes, etc. In short, they have spared no extra step to insure your safety. Currently there is both sit-down and take out (to your room, around the pool etc) dining available, though slightly fewer options then when the hotel is running at capacity.

Here s a quick primer on getting to Hawaii in the Covid era:
1. Register an account on travel.hawaii.gov and fill out the preliminary information regarding your flight etc.
2. Review the accepted Covid testing partners. I used Vault health and was very satisfied. You can (and should) take the test at as close to 72 hours prior to the departure of your last flight prior to arriving in Hawaii. For instance, if your last flight is 12:00PM on Friday, you should plan on taking the Covid test a few minutes after noon on Tuesday. If using Vault I would suggest ordering your test roughly 10-14 days prior to this. You will need to use zoom during the administering of the test. For me, I was only in the zoom waiting room for about 5 minutes, though it said it might take 30-35 minutes. After finishing the test, I would immediately take it to UPS. Your local UPS distribution center is probably best/most efficient, but otherwise review when the last air service is for the day. You want to ensure that it will arrive in NJ at the testing site by T-48hours or so. For me, my results came back on Thursday morning (in the above scenario). I didn t put any special notations on the packaging, e.g. RUSH or HAWAII TRAVEL, I had read that some people are doing this but does not seem necessary.
3. Download your PDF of the test result and upload to the travel.hawaii.gov website. You should also upload a recent picture, though that may not be essential.
4. Print a copy of the PDF of your negative test and keep it with you when traveling. They want you to show them a hard copy at the airport.
5. Completion of the required forms on the travel website will result in them sending you an email with a QR code. You will need this both at the airport and the hotel. You should take a screenshot of the QR code on your phone for simplicity
6. Expect about an hour at the airport after you land to go through process of confirming your testing. They are retesting a variable amount of people at the airport
7. All of the above are subject to change, but hopefully this may help make you a bit more comfortable in planning your future stay.

Remember that everyone is under more stress than normal. Try not to take out your frustrations on the airport or hotel staff for minor inconveniences.

It's good.

It's good.
Room is fine.
The pool is great.
I'm sorry to have not eaten rice.

Singles can be snorkled at the beach in front of the hotel. There are many kinds of fish and turtle is easy to see. Snow Cool Equipment Rental for free.

Staff are incredibly friendly and caring. We have never received such good hospitality in a long time. We arrived slightly early, and instead of waiting for our room to get ready, they upgraded us to a suite instead. We reported some food allergies and the waiter ensured the chef custom made our orders based on our allergies and we were very impressed with attention to detail. We have been to Fairmont in Victoria (Canada) as well and loved our experience there too! Fairmont is our #1 brand for stays and looking forward to our next stay :)

The hotel grounds are beautiful as are the common areas. The pool is closed for construction, which the Fairmont Orchid is to be commended for their excellent communication alerting us to that fact. The rate we're paying is great, probably because of the construction, but we knew before we booked this would be the case. The little lagoon on the property is a wonderful, protected haven - better than a pool in my opinion! Our room is a partial ocean view, and we have no complaints, though it isn't much fancier than your average Holiday Inn. The rest of the view is pretty special, too, though - you look straight to Kohala mountain. Very nice place.

This property is absolutely amazing. The rooms are gorgeous and all of the staff are so friendly and helpful. There are a few restaurants and the food and drinks are delicious. The property is located right on the water and they have a small beach. You can rent kayaks, SUPs and snorkel gear. There is coral and plenty of fish and turtles to see. I will definitely stay again.

Scenic grounds, great location, incredibly friendly yet slightly uninformed staff. Unauthentic but delicious food with speedy room service and well varied selection. Weird unenforced dress code in places with no sandals allowed (in Hawaii?). Rooms are comfy and luxurious with everything you would need from home.

Just like any beach side resort, the view is amazing, but it's facilities are a little worn down and staff are nice but not exceptional.

I thought following things were good, the buffet is OK considering it's only $30/person, the staff at the beach hut area accommodating, the staff at Brown's is nice.

They do have a very nice calm beach, which is an ideal spot for kids.

- Their valet service staff could be more helpful, friendly, and more professional considering they are the first set of staff that guests see.
- Our bed had a big hump in the middle.
- Towels were thin and worn.
- No carrying bags for guests to use for the day.
- Cabana rentals are a little on the pricy side.
- There was only one pool that gets shared with all ages.
- If windows are not closed properly, it will make a wind noise all night long.
- The gym is on the small side.
- Horrible WiFi that loses connection constantly, in turn draining my battery.

The hotel is about average.

Great resort location. Family friendly and relazed. Service was a bit slow, but friendly and professional. Prices for food and beverage was very high and the quality and preperation did not match the high price. Our room 2231 was very clean and housekeeping did a great job, but at the price of this resort, rust stains and missing grout in the shower was disapointing to find.

Very nice and quiet. Room, service and select are great!
Food and drinks in different restaurants are delicious. Hawaii-style open-air spa with very good treatments An ideal place to relax or explore the island: car hire on site, helicopter service nearby. Also for not golfer very nice! Good price-performance ratio!
