Beautiful hotel that is very well kept up. The staff here are excellent and very helpful. The grounds are beautiful, especially the koi pond area with the waterfalls running throughout the property.

Amazing hotel, I don't want to go home! The room is beautiful, and the view from it was even better. The staff is amazing as well, everyone has been very helpful and friendly. Highly recommended, I will be back!
Always great with own bay for kids swimming and snorkeling. The only drawback is that the food is really expensive but you can always get cheaper meals by driving around to neighboring villages.
The hotel has very nice grounds and a reasonably sized beach however it does need updating as its very old. The rooms and bathrooms are in need of some major refurbishment as everything is very tired looking. They could also do with a bit of a deep clean including the balconies - quite dirty so don't really make it very attractive to sit outside. Overall there seems to be a real lack of visibility when it comes to staff....having said that the service on the beach was good as was concierge (when we found one!!)
The restaurant was used during the New Year's holidays from 2018 to 2019. The location of the restaurant is the best. Tears flowed unknowingly at sunset I stayed in the room on the first floor, but if I didn't pay attention to the processing of food containers, a horde of ants would come to greet me. I will take care again in the latter half of January 2020.
Can not say enough great things about this hotel. We stayed here for 4 days, and had the most amazing time ever. The food by the beach is incredible, drinks are nice and strong and delicious, and the amenities are fantastic. Staff were always incredibly friendly, helpful, and did everything they could to help us enjoy our stay. Would love to stay here again!
Outstanding resort. Everybody will go out their their way to help with any problems you may have or give advice on any locations you may want to visit. The only down fall is the resort is starting to show its age. Personally, I would stay here again.
Very nice hotel. The staff was very friendly. We had a misunderstanding when booking our room. We were hoping for a room with a nice stand-alone tub but most of the rooms have a shower and a shower tub combo. It's kind of redundant to have two places for a shower and would be prefered to have a walk in shower and seperate tub.
First of all, my husband and I would have to say this was the BEST vacation/anniversary we have ever had! We would have to thank Keisha Rodriguez at the Fairmont Gold office. I promise you that going Fairmont Gold is the best way and ask for Keisha. She went above and beyond to make our anniversary special. When there were ANY problems, such as the air conditioner not working and a part needing to be replaced, to the television remote not working she made sure things were taken care of quickly. I write a lot of reviews, but the small accidents that happen were more than taken care of because of Keisha, so we have already rebooked to come back next year. This place is amazing, along with the food, staff, and amenities. I promise you the poolside nachos are to die for, the best you will ever have! The servers we had Cindy and Eiko, were phenomenal. We never ran out of drinks, they suggested some great local spots and knew the details of the menu inside out. The place was worth every dime we spent. Awesome job Fairmont! We look forward to returning!
Beautiful resort and pool. Very comfortable bed and lovely bathroom. The room and ambience are very nice. Staff was very friendly. Rooms were beautifully tidied.
Downsides: -We were overlooked for service several times: at the pool and two of the restaurants, and on multiple occasions. They served people around us but we kept being overlooked, finally resorting to the bar each time to get our own food and drinks. -The hotel also charges for most things, which really gets me at a nice resort (though our parking was free). I needed to print a form and it cost me $5 at the business center. It would have cost us $50 to play tennis when we went to the tennis courts there were at least 10 and they were all empty.
Love the Fairmont Orchid! Beautiful resort with excellent service. Stayed in a suite on the Fairmont Gold floor. Complimentary breakfast every morning in our own 6th floor dining room/lounge. Complimentary afternoon tea and cocktail hour snacks every day as well. Honor bar, a lot of different alcohols and wines, choose what you want, write name and room # on a slip, leave in container so it can be billed to room.
Very nice spa and salon on property, some shops, pool and beach areas are great, cabanas available.
An excellent resort with great amenities, sushi, golf, massage on the beach, a great little salt water lagoon, sea turtles on the beach just a quick walk away, and plenty of activities that will pick you up from the front kiosk.
Award winning landscape and plants. Incredibly friendly staff that goes out of there way to make you feel the aloha. Beach is about average because its man made and very small compared to the Mauna Kea award winning beach. Snorkeling is hit and miss because the reefs in front of hotel are not very calm and still but does get pretty good early mornings when waves are calm. All in all amazing property and fantastic experience just stay away from hotel restaurants kinda a rip off for how expensive they are. Plenty of great restaurants close by the hotel.
I think this hotel and it's environs are a delight. It is a beautiful setting for the Big Island. The staff are warm and friendly. They are helpful and courteous. They want their guests to be very happy and content! Food is pretty good too! Be warned, a price comes with this lovely place!
What a wonderful place for dinner & a show. The Buffet was exquisite & the show was first class. I strongly recommend that you include it in your itenirary.
Brilliant, absolutely fabulous resort, Staff from top to bottom all great and chatty, resort layout amazing, here until tomorrow, would love to stay longer, but will return.
After spending five nights at this hotel, I can say it is now my family s favorite place on earth! The staff, from valet to front desk to housekeeping were all kind, helpful and full of Aloha spirit. We found the hotel to be immaculate and decorated beautifully. Our room was well maintained by housekeeping and the beds were very comfortable. My son loved the turn down service! Our view from the sixth floor in the South tower was beautiful. Despite being a garden view room, we still had a view of the ocean as well. The pool area was relaxing and clean. Snorkeling in the lagoon and ocean was amazing. We saw many types of fish, eel, and lots of turtles! Seeing the turtles sleeping in the evening on the beach area was a nice surprise. The nightly torch lighting was fun, especially as the torch lighter allowed kids to help him. The overall atmosphere at the Fairmont Orchid is peaceful and enhanced our stay in Hawaii. We are looking forward to returning here some day!
Great hotel in a fantastic location, in the heart of the Mauna Lani Resort. 2 golf courses, beautiful beach, guarantee of beautiful sunsets. Nice pool area. Ideal for chilling out or for honeymooners.
love this place, excellent friendly staff, eccellent breakfast, excellent little cove and beach for swimming, excellent amenities, I would give it 6 stars if I could
Everything you would expect from a Fairmont property, beautiful grounds, great views, Immaculate facilities, friendly staff and expensive. No Stars deducted for expensive, cuz that is what you would expect here! It's Hawaii! It's the Fairmount! And it is awesome!
Amazing place to be, highly recommended for anybody. Like a small paradise on a big island. Lovely rooms, amazing food. The beach is also awesome and well take care of.
Went to the luau. Was fun... But not $140 dollars fun. Food was definitely plentiful if not very hot. Also there is something artificial about high priced resort hotels that , if you start seeing it, makes them feel like a set piece... Nice if your there on business, not so much if you are on an adventure.
We booked our room through Hotwire and received a discounted rate. Overall, I liked the size of our double queen room. We did not have a great view given our booking but there was ample space provided. The resort is expensive and there is not much around it at all so be prepared to pay a premium for mediocre food or drive 20 to 30 minutes away. Many of the amenities included in the price of our room and the resort fee were useless to us. It is also a long drive from Kona. We appricated the water pressure and hot water after staying in Hilo.
Arrived right at the start of hurricane Lane. The staff was incredibly friendly and warm when they greeted us. Recieved water and a lei and had my keys handed directly to me. Amazing service. Then was walked directly to my room while the gentleman (Luke) explained all the hotel amenities. Even though the hotel was getting ready for the hurricane there was still plenty to do. Enjoyed the spa and had a massage by the waterfall. Such a relaxing experience. The beach and pool staff was friendly and accommodating. The drinks were delicious and service at the beach bar was super friendly. Fairmont Gold lounge staff was amazing. We don t eat pork and they went and got us fresh turkey bacon evey morning for us to enjoy. We were able to enjoy Browns Restaurant for dinner the last night. The food was fantastic! Even with the hurricane we enjoyed our stay immensely, will for sure need to come back to explore more!
Still a great place in a great location with warm service. As a heads up though there are 0 baby changing tables in the public restrooms. This can make life rather challenging for younger guests who might need a change before their room is ready or by the beach / pool. Would have expected them by now given the number of guests you see in diapers.
Beautiful resort and beach where you can swim with fish, eels, sea turtles, etc. Only negative was additional $30 per day fee added to price after we arrived.
Always delicious and the service is outstanding. There is a waitress named Janice who remembered us after our first visit. She is outstanding. It is quiet and has gorgeous views. We love it here and always come back!
Very beautiful resort. However, expensive meals, Breakfast isn't free neither is shaded beach chairs. Snorkeling gears included in the price. This resort provides gorgeous views of sunset and service is overall good. We enjoyed our stay. .
A really perfect hotel! With dream beach in front of the room in a quiet location, spacious and well-equipped rooms, I could really relax. The breakfast is highly recommended.
Resort is beautiful, but service is horrendous. Food and drinks are outrageous, yet mediocre at best. Here are a few examples of the level of customer service you ll experience at this five-star resort :
- When trying to get towels for an excursion, we were told by 3 different employees that we wld need to get our own from the overnight box (which of course was empty) - Paid an outrageous fee for a cabana on the beach only to discover there was only 1 server for the entire beach - Our canoe snorkeling trip through the resort was cancelled/rescheduled twice - Despite being promised a late checkout, we were informed the day before that they wld not honor it - Resort cld bot provide a copy of room charges because of a broken printer...apparently there are no other printers onsite.
Terrible vacation experience! Beware before booking this resort.
Very difficult to find the trailhead. Its marked with a mustard colored, wooden sign yet still extremely hard to find. I am local and have helped so many tourists walking toward the ocean (directly the wrong way) trying to find the trail. The experience is nice - if you can find it. Look to the north and west corner of the parking lot. Away from the ocean. It's the first corner (on the right side of the parking lot as you drive in) of the "car park". If you walking toward the ocean, turn around. It's there. Good luck.
Staff is friendly and the hotel is clean. Food is a little pricey if you eat at the resort, but there are options nearby with a free shuttle. get the recreation pass, unlimited rentals of kayaks, wake boards and any other rentals they offer
Very nice resort with friendly service. Only complaint is that upon arrival we were given complimentary drinks as we were on a honeymoon we never had 41 years ago. The drinks were redeemable at 2 places on the resort. One was closed the days we were there and the other was booked to capacity. When I mentioned this at the desk at checkout they said we could have used them at other places on the resort. Nice to know at the end of a stay. Not going to let not getting a few drinks spoil an otherwise good stay. I mention this as a heads up for anyone staying there and for management to make them good anywhere on the property. Aloha and Mahalo.
What a beautiful fantastic place. I was bumped off my plane and thankfully was sent here for my overnight stay. Most of the staff I encountered we're just wonderful, so cooperative and helpful. There was one restaurant that was terribly slow and almost made me late 2 catch my plane. But the desk people make sure I got out on time. Great place, but I'm sure glad my Airline picked up the tab and not me.
Six of my family members went for drinks and sat at an outside table with a wonderful view overlooking the pool and beach. A live musician set the mood while we ate o'dourves and had cocktails during the sunset. One of, if not the nicest resorts on the island.
Outstanding staff and property. Beautiful pool, private beach and lovely property. Tiki lights create ambiance around the property at night. Highly recommend. Have stayed here several times and will continue to stay at the Fairmont when on the big Island.
Exceptional hotel, beautiful comfortable rooms, very clean and quiet. Service across all areas was tremendous and very responsive. Beautiful pool, numerous restaurants, so much better than the other large hotel nearby.
Very enjoyable stay. Lots of activities for kids; including snorkeling, swimming, and kayaking. Large, well-appointed buffet. Very friendly staff. Highly recommended.
Best luau on the island. Some of the best food I've had in my week on the island. If you want a wonderful hotel or just looking for a luau look no further.
Spent four nights at the Fairmont Orchid and loved the resort. Service was very good and friendly.
I had a partial ocean view room with a King Size bed in the North Tower (Room #2526). Too was good size with a nice balcony. Views of the sunset were breathtaking.
Beds were very comfortable. Pillows were comfortable too. Shower had good water pressure and modern rain shower head. Bath tub was not the soaking type. But that's a small negative. Soap and shampoo were great. Room came with a fridge which was helpful to keep cold beverages.
Fitness center was closed for remodeling so they converted a conference room to the gym. Wasn't very nice but hopefully when the regular gym opens, it will be up to par.
Pool area was very nice. Lots of room to hang.
Location is very good. Has some nice running options to the North, South and East.
The Fairmont orchid is the best property on the big Island of Hawaii. The location is superb, the spa is fantastic, and the dining options are incredible. The management and staff of the Fairmont orchid are perpetually gracious without being obsequious. I highly recommend this property.
Went for drinks and pupus at the upper level outdoor lounge. The drinks were great, the food was only okay. The musician playing was fantastic and the servers were perfectly attentive without being overbearing. The atmosphere was perfect to just relax and enjoy the sunset. Get there before 6 to get a good seat and watch the torch runner blow the conch and light the torches across the property.
