I stayed with my wife and daughter of a kindergarten child at the end of the year. There was a Japanese desk and everyone was kind enough to respond. It was saved because the pool was heated, but the difficult point is that it was a somewhat illegal area because there were no guards. Most of the non-Japanese guests also had common sense and did not feel disgusted.

The grounds are maintained and clean. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and accommodating. The rooms are clean and spacious and the materials for the furniture, bathroom tile, and others are of great quality.

We recently, (August- Sept 2013) spent 5 glorious nights at this hotel! It was a fantastic experience! If there were 10 stars I would give this hotel 10 stars! From the beautiful grounds, beach, plumeria trees, pools, courteous, helpful staff, NOTHING was a problem and they helped make the time we spent with our granddaughter and her best friend a vacation to NEVER forget! I would return to this hotel in a heartbeat! <3

The Fairmont orchid is a great resort with very helpful staff and a full range of different amenities like snorkel equipment rentals, paddle boards, a spa, and great beach access. Reefs off shore have a great amount of wildlife including seas turtles

We didn't stay here but walked through the complex to Browns restaurant which was fantastic. The hotel looks absolutely stunning compared to the Mauna Kea. If you have the choice choose the Orchid.

Where do I begin? We took a weekend trip here and immediately felt like Ohana. I wish I payed attention to the names of each valet but you all are a class act. Jasmine greeting us at the front desk with a warm welcome and Serrah met us in the hallway to explain to us the property layout. Our room was perfect including the turn down service.

SPA WITHOUT WALLS, worth every penny "more please"!!!!! Bobby met us at the front desk and explained how the pampering would begin. My wife and I had Lilly and Shawna as our providers. These two... attentive, soothing, and tender taking time to identify and focus on the problem areas. I will have to take a trip back just to visit SPA WITHOUT WALLS.

HALE KAI. We learned a secret after attempting to book a table at Browns Restaurant; guest can order off the Browns menu while eating at the less formal Hale Kai. The food selection was perfect for dinner. The only small feedback I would offer is updating the bar pupu menu. It seemed frozen to table vice fresh to table. However, the best Mai Tai's I have ever had quickly made me forget about the bar food.

We would like to thank the staff of Fairmont Orchids for making our weekend memorable. The property is nothing without the Aloha offered to each guest by the staff.

The service is excellent, though forced on you (I'd have preferred to push my own luggage cart instead of a bellhop I have to tip). Great, small beach, decent pool, but not hot tub to use on cloudy days. If you need wheelchair accessibility, avoid this hotel. No roll in showers, overly soft carpets, and no elevator to the outside ground floor from the lobby.

We had an excellent experience at Fairmont Orchid....

We had an excellent experience at Fairmont Orchid. The resort is laid out well and has so many beautiful and lush areas. You really feel at one with nature. We had an excellent experience at the spa, with a couple's lomi lomi massage by the waterfall. It was so serene and by far the most beautiful spa experience I have encountered.

We spent a lot of time by the pool and in the cabanas by the pool, overlooking the ocean. Regular sightings of whales was a real treat. Food and beverage service by the pool/cabanas was great, especially the friendly server with the braces. Food at pool restaurant was excellent, especially the lobster fried rice, tuna poke and pizza. Breakfast buffet was also very good with excellent variety. Often a small wait to get a table.

We had a garden view room which was tastefully decorated. There is a large closet but I could have used more drawers/shelving for storage. I felt everything was appointed well and it was lovely to be woken up naturally to sunlight peeking in and birds chirping.

I was most impressed with how helpful, friendly and happy every single staff member was, whether we were being served by them or just passing by. We would definitely return, although next time with our kids because there were a lot of families with young children at the resort. It was not ideal for an adults only vacation.

My husband and I visited the Fairmont Orchid 8/30/2013 to 9/3/2018 and we can't wait to go back! It is a beautiful property with an amazing pool area. The sunsets are stunning! And the lagoon is great for snorkeling. My son and his wife saw a huge tortoise when they were there. I would definitely go again!

We are Gold members of the Accor program but little attention was paid by the staff to recognize this affiliation. We work hard to show our loyalty to a brand that rewards such labor and appreciate when recognition is given. This was not the case at this location

When checking in there was a wait due to the imbalance of guests needing assistance and the number of staff to accommodate the need. Although there was three additional agents at the foreign assistance desk that could have provided support but did not.

Upon arrival to our room we noticed a mildew smell that was prevalent throughout our stay. The room was well appointed, clean and well serviced by the housekeeping staff.

Food services were average with food quality inconsistent and service at times more interested in their conversations with each other than they were serving guests. This was very apparent at the pool bar and dining area. The staff at the Browns deli/coffee shop were outstanding among their peers and were consistently pleasant and efficient.

We have visited the resort before when operated by the Ritz Carlton group who I must say did a much better job with service and maintenance of the grounds. While the setting is spectacular, during this visit the grounds looked tired and in need of attention in many areas.

My last comment would be the unannounced construction occurring during our visit. One of the restaurants was closed for renovation but not announced to guests when booking. The facility is in the center of the resort where all interior rooms were subject to the sites and sounds of the construction. Poor planning to close one of the higher end restaurants on property when the only other hotel in the Mauna Lani resort was completely closed for an extensive renovation.

Overall the Fairmont Orchid disappointed and did not live up to the standards we associate with the brand

We've tried a number of resorts in the Waikoloa area, and after staying 9 days at the Fairmont Orchid, our family agrees we have finally found a resort to return to for our yearly trips to Hawaii.
We purchased our package through Costco, but we were still treated quite well. We traveled as a couple with my parents. Despite none of us having Status with Fairmont Hotels, every concern we had was addressed promptly, with the hotel going above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable. My parents had someone smoking on a lanai nearby, and the hotel bent over backwards to move my parents to a different room.
The food here is expensive, I would imagine getting a package with breakfast included could save some money. The breakfast buffet is delicious, with unique fresh fruits every day, along with a crepe stations and custom omelettes available to order.
The rooms were generously size, particularly the lanai and bathrooms. Beds were comfortable and housekeeping came by twice daily.
Despite being practically fully booked (including having a conference group staying on site), the resort never felt crowded. We were always able to find lounge chairs at the beach and the pool. The cultural activities offered by the resort were fabulous; my parents could not stop raving about the petroglyph hike.
We attended the luau and felt that the food and entertainment were much better than other luaus we have attended on the Big Island.
I cannot stress enough how fabulous the staff here is. They are absolutely top notch. Every single staff member we interacted with was pleasant, helpful, and made us genuienly feel that sense of "aloha". On our last morning we happened to sit next to an older couple at breakfast whom we later overheard has been coming to the resort every year for well over 10 years; staff greeted this couple with hugs and warmth. It is clear why so many people return to this resort, and we look forward to being one of these return customers.
Fairmont Orchid you officially have two families who are eagerly planning next year's return trip. Aloha and mahalo for making our vacation so amazingly memorable!

Security sucks. Stuff turned up missing from our room security sent this fat idiot who blamed us and was racist. He refused to provide his name, but we later learned it's Warren Shaw. No aloha. Don't stay here.

While I did not stay at the property, I did attend a Lu'au there. It was a great show. Even the food was outstanding, well cooked and lots of good options. They did run out of the chocolate lava cake for dessert. The best Lu'au I have been too.

Worst Fairmont I ve stayed at! I was extremely disappointed because when we arrived the room we had was old and dirty. Literally swiped my finger on the bedside nightstand and a layer of dust was present. They couldn t move us into another room until the next day. Then, we spent an hour at the concierge desk booking cabanas etc. to find out the next day that none of the cabanas we booked were available. They had to accommodate us on the spot due to their miscommunication. Room service took an hour EVERY time we ordered it no matter what time. Finally, we got a courtesy room (something the hotel promotes) because our flight didn t leave until 9 PM and the room was filthy. The bathroom had several dirty towels in the tub and half the bottles of shampoo, etc. were opened. Oh, and when my boyfriend got to the front desk to return the key one of the front desk staff was telling another guest that the courtesy room wasn t ready because WE were taking too long when we had to wait for housekeeping to clean the room in the first place. The Fairmont In Maui is 1,000 times better.

UPDATE! Less than two weeks after my stay a hotel manager reached out to me and I was pleasantly surprised by the outcome! Thank you for listening to me about my experience and I look forward to giving the Fairmont Orchid another try!

Very disappointing service for a place at this price point. I can't remember another bad Fairmont experience. In addition to the poor service, the facilities are showing their age, and just don't measure up to many other cheaper places in Hawaii. And maybe the biggest deal breaker is the food here. For dinner you basically have 2 options, 1) over priced microwave food at the beach tiki bar, or 2) two expensive and fairly formal reservation only restaurants, one of them was not bad, the other was mediocre at best. Both were over priced. And neither we're something I'd would want to eat every night for a week. Six months before staying here, we spent a week at the Grand Wailea on Maui... It was considerable cheaper, but way, way better.

They know the job! We got the best room was available and small gift for our honeymoon, service was excellent! The room was well decorated, functional and clean, so clean! you can feel the Ritz in the air when you walk in hallways. Pool and beach are awesome! One of the most beautiful beaches in Big island, we took the free snorkel and SUP, saw many turtles and fish. The only problem was lack of shade in pools and beach.

This exceeds 5 stars by far! The most beautiful hotel I have ever seen. Breakfast buffet is an absolute must and our server, Joyson, at the grille for dinner made for an over the top experience. Beautiful beach, hammocks under the palm trees, outdoor seating... I m ready to go back now! Elegant.

First class resort, with great service. Shopping and restaurants a 15 minute walk or 5 minute drive away. Pretty much everything you could want in a luxury resort. Restaurants pricey but there are many restaurants nearby that are less expensive.

Cozy hotel, this is my first time to stay in Fairmont Orchid, and I really had good time there. Not surprisingly, with the Fairmont brand name, the room is comfortable and clean; the staff are friendly and dedicated. I enjoyed the relaxing island atmosphere at the property. We spent a lot of time at their beautiful beach area. I also loved the resort kept an sanctuary/preservation area for the wild sea turtles.

We absolutely loved our stay here. The best part was snorkeling in the ocean in morning. Beautiful views :) Resort also has organized and guided tours, and activities every day of the week. Don't miss out on those, especially not the snorkeling one and night sky viewing. They are FREE.
