Musician friends got tickets for Adrian Belew, so I drove up from Philly for the show. This is such an amazing venue. Big enough to hold a good crowd and small enough to still be really intimate. The show, sound and seats were astounding. I wish I lived closer. Seriously, this is a phenomenal place to see anything.

Architectural eye candy with its unique shape and design. There were no performances during our visit and the exterior was partially scaffolded, but we enjoyed staring at it and taking pictures from many vantage points around Empire State Plaza.

Saw Railroad Earth on Valentine's day 2019. Awesome show. Always great acoustics. Intimate feel. Hassle free. Line for drinks was long... Not a concert bar setting like you often get with RRE. Not as much dancing. But much easier to see the show than at the theaters that don't have seating.

World class acts in an intimate setting. My wife and I always enjoy seeing well known artists as well as some we may not know and have never been disappointed. I would recommend that everyone check out The Egg.

What's not to love?

What's not to love?

From the fascinating architecture to the comfortable seats, tasty concessions, fantastic sight lines, excellent acoustics, intimate setting, personable volunteers...

Oh yeah. You also get tons of great artists because of an outstanding booking staff. Enjoy!

Went to see a hard rock show here (Nightwish). The building is beautiful, the staff is very kind, the lighting rig is very nice with tons of conventional fixtures, and the venue has great acoustics.

That is where my praise ends. The sound system in the room is absolutely awful. I am a event sound and lights professional and it was clear throughout the night that this was not enough rig for the gig.

The subs were tubby and not clear and the tops were clearly being driven to their max and the room was not even all that loud. There were many times the vocals couldn't carry above the instrumentation.

I didn't take measurements, but, my best guess is it was hovering around 95dba where I was (not loud at all for a metal show).

A perfect venue for live music in the region. Great sound, great sight lines, comfortable seating, fair prices, and, in winter especially the underground parking is a plus. Two theaters, and even the larger one has an intimate feel.
I love it.

I just want to make it clear this is for the Eggs staff and not the show.. We had VIP tickets to our show, and when i got to the booth i had my ID ready and the women there said no need and just have me my collectable ticket and lanyard .. So you gave out two $120 tickets without id? Nice.. When we entered the show we where asked what our ticket numbers where and were just directed wear the seats where, again no one ever looked at my tickets. Most of the staff seemed uninterested in being there . Then durring the show the performer had to give the lighting controller direcyions on how the spots where supposed to be set; 1 not 2 and tighter. She even mentioned 'why did we even have a sound check.' Overall the theater staff just seemed to not care about anything. Seats are great, all of them have a good view of the stage and the sound in the building is wonderful.. The staff are just sub-par.

I haven't been inside the egg but there's an auditorium inside which hosts shows. The architecture is unique and the place is located right at the heart of Albany next to the capitol building. One of the trademarks of Albany!
