So far from their past where it was an absolute pleasure to go here. They need better chefs or better quality meat or both.

A romantic setting with great food. My husband and I had our second date here, that was the night I knew I was going to marry him!
A very impressive historic site serving delicious food. The craft beer selection is strong and offered regional brands that I have never tried. We had an enjoyable evening and I highly recommend this establishment.
Sorry to say, service poor.
We ate upstairs and perhaps that
slowed the wait staff .
In general very disappointing for
us to celebrate our anniversary
dinner.
Needs to step it up a bit.
I arranged a family/friends party for 35 at the Inn and couldn't rave about it more! Bob, the chef/owner was fantastic to work with and confirmed in writing everything I requested. When I went to check things out before the hour, Monty and Greg were attentive, flexible, accommodating and friendly. They adjusted last-minute needs with alacrity and calm. The food options and accommodation to special diets were delicious, including a dramatic flaming crepes suzette! The food was delicious - fresh, attractive and hot. We will go out of our way to dine there again.
The food, service, atmosphere all were amazing. The duck was cooked perfectly, not too dry, not greasy. The house old fashioned was well done as well.
Absolutly, positively will be going back. Great place for any American history lover.
High quality food and high prices. Very traditional, nothing nouvelle about it. The kind of place your parents would like. Quiet, small rooms, very cozy and romantic. For something more contemporary and a little less expensive try their other restaurant, Blue Pear Bistro, just around the corner.
one of the few historic spots that does history without the kitsch. the food is impecable as is the service. there is something wonderful about sitting in a beautiful old buiilding with warm, traditional food, and being served by someone who cares, or at least acts like it.
Beautiful place loved the service , food and atmosphere was 5 star all the way !
Delicious food and cocktails. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Perfect for a special night out.
Not the same old Dilworthtown Inn. A very disappointing experiance.
Service was extremely friendly, although the room we were in was very stuffy, everyone was sweating. But my god, the chicken here was out of this world. I was blown away by the sauce served with it, it was fantastic. The whole meal was absolutely delicious
The food was great they taught you about wines and me and the wife are planning to go back more than one time
We usually come once a year at the change of seasons. We dine outside and the service and food could not be better.
I have attended many functions an dined their often. My favorite restaurant in the area.
Was on grounds for Crush Cancer Event for Chester County Hospital. Lovely event. Thank you Dilworthtown Inn for hosting.
Not the same experience from my first visit. Steak temperature was cook incorectly for all four of us.
Elegant restaurant in a beautiful old building, great for special occasions.
A quaint place for dinner. I believe it is a historic building (?). The food was good but not extraordinary.
We had center cut chateaubriand. It was good. A little too done for a medium rare.
I was disappointed and for that price...won't return.
Christmas Eve tradition never disappointing, always friendly staff serves consistently delicious meals enjoyed by three generations of our family
Great food, great wine and spirits, and great staff! 5 stars times ten.
Excellent Service our waitress Amber made our EASTER Sunday Dinner Fabulous.
Cudos to who hired her!
Would recommend her and come back because of her. Food was high quality. You can tell Chef was on his game!
Had one of the best resteraunt experiences here recently. The building is beautiful, the mood was quiet and romantic, and the food was beyond good. Both service and dinner were better than we expected. Very pleased with our experience and we will definitely be back.
We have been going to the Dilworthtown for 25 years with two other couples on the first Saturday in December. It has really gone downhill. I ordered the crab crepes. I was told they were out of crepes, but he offered me a crabcake. My crabcake was burnt on the bottom and inedible. Our food took over an hour to come out to us. Service was slow. Their wine list used to be a book; now it is a sheet of paper. We have all decided we are not returning.
My cocktail gave me severe indigestion. I felt like I was going to throw up. The food was overpriced and very underwhelming. Our waiter paid little attention to us and her attitude was not empathetic when I told her about feeling sick from the cocktail. She became defensive even. We will not be back and I do not recommend this place at all.
Beautiful, historic setting. Helpful staff, delicious food. Great place for large or intimate events.
This is an incredibly beautiful inn to see. The excellent food and service add to this experience as well. This is an upscale place but it is also has reasonable prices. You can BYOB for a small fee if you want. Again, white tablecloths, impeccable wait staff, and a diverse menu make for a very special night. It's fun to watch the menu change with the seasons.
Another wonderful meal at one of our favorite restaurants! We go there a few times a year and we are never disappointed! After reading a few reviews on the website I was surprised and a bit concerned. It seems that a few people had been disappointed which shocked me. We have been going there for years and have never had a bad experience with the service or food. Hopefully, they just had a an off night and will give it another try! I believe that it's so worth it.
Very romantic place food excellent and my wife had a great time
Warm , cozy , and romantic candlelit dinner and some of the best scallops I've ever had.
The food and service have drastically gone downhill. Management was made aware of our bad experience and has not gotten back to me.
Slow service, average food, nothing creative or new. Escargot bland.
Horrible! Like many others, we would return year after year for birthdays, anniversaries, special occasions. Quality had been waning. Tonight was the last.
Our waiter reeked of cologne as did the kind gentleman who tended to our table between servings. I could barely smell my food with the offensive odors that lingered after every visit. The Tuna tartare came with 2.5 tiny, very tiny, pieces of toast. Not nearly enough. We were teased "Why? You'll ruin your appetite!" when asking for more. My Ceasar salad was "ok" but the croutons were horrid. I told the waiter, "The salad is good, but the croutons taste store-bought." His reply "Well, they are NOT". I've had many many Ceasar salads and croutons homemade, at the best restaurants and the not-so-best over the years. These tasted like they came out of a box.
I asked for no pepper on any of my plates. The main course arrived. I had ordered the seared scallops - they were peppered. I ate two ... Between the unsavory croutons, the pepper and the odiferous cologne, I became sick. I spent way too much time in the bathroom while my date ate alone. yes, my husband celebrating his 73rd birthday sat by himself while his young wife got sick.
We're going to have to find a different restaurant.
One of the best places anywhere for a classy evening in a classic place with excellent food.
This is one of those places that you need to go at least once in your life if you live in the greater West Chester area. Atmosphere is great. Food is phenomenal. Order the cesear salad, it's prepared table side. They do have a very good wine list, but the mark up is ridiculous. The server was very attentive and picked up on our slow pace of dining very quickly.
Went for a bridal shower. Awesome food and the service was fabtastic!
Extremely dissappointed. While our waiter (Charles Joseph) was excellent, neither the menu nor the meal met expectations. Used to be one of our favorite restaurants. Doubt we'd return.
Certainly not as good as the fare served 10 years ago. Way overpriced for the quality of the food served. I couldn't justify ever going there again.
Amazing food, great atmosphere. Pricey, but worth it for a nice night out.
My mother had her wedding here. A beautiful event that went off perfectly. Thank you very much Brenda and Bob for all of your hard work
Good food. Very much a higher end restaurant. The spring rolls are amazing. Definitely worth a visit.
I agree with others: Dilworthtown had better make some changes. This is not the restaurant it used to be, and I've been coming here for 25 years.
SERVICE: We were a party of 7 tonight. Our waitress, Patty, was not good. She was not attentive and disappeared for long stretches (and it was not busy at all.)
She wanted to tell us the specials before we had even ordered drinks. Any experienced waiter would know that's a faux-pas.
It took almost 40 minutes before we were able to order our food, not because we were not ready, because the only person around was the guy filling our water. She delivered a few drinks, but then would scurry off. She never asked if we were ready to order. Finally, I was about to get up and go find her when she appeared for our order.
I ordered a bottle of white for two of the people at the table, and Patty brought out glasses for all of us. One bottle of white can not even fill seven glasses, so I'm not sure what she was thinking. She should have asked "how many glasses." Again, any experienced waiter would have asked this question.
FOOD: My lobster bisque was cold and bland. The esgarcots were equally bland. My $45 steak (ordered medium rare) came medium-well and was tough and dry. The mashed potatoes and asparagus were retirement-home quality, at best.
Total Time: 2.5 hours, and not a good 2.5 hours.
I eat out a lot, and this was sub-par all the way around. Management: I hope you are listening, because you lost a long-time customer tonight.
Food was just ok..our waiter didn't pay much attention to us. My salmon was undercooked. Got the second plate after 15 mins. The table next to us was waiting for the same server for about 25mins just to make an order. We asked for drinks, and he simply forgot what we ordered. So we reordered drinks..waited 20 minutes for it. And the restaurant was not even crowded. At that point i was so frustrated I just asked for a check. This was supposed to be a nice birthday dinner for my boyfriend, but it turned out to be very miserable..I probably won't be back any time soon.
Delicious!! Filet mignon medium rare melted in my mouth like butter. Absolutely perfect, from salad thru desert. Everything was beyond expectation!
Wow!!!! Went here with my bf for dinner and we were in food heaven!! I'm a very picky eater and I loved my meal. We started with the escargot and then I got the free range chicken and my bf got the veal ragu. My chicken wrapped in proscutio with fig was amazing. The sauce for my chicken was delicious. Probably one of the best meals I've had eating out. Also service was amazing. Our waiter was awesome. I've only given one other restaurant 5 star review so that's saying something. We will be back
Had an adult birthday party in a private room. The food was fantastic and the service was impeccable. Very hospitable staff and beautiful interior.
I have been dining at the dilworthtown Inn for 25 years and it is absolutely wonderful the ambience atmosphere the food and the service excellent
Great wine and beer pairing dinner. Food was excellent. I want to go again.
Limited menu. Great service by Josh. He deserves *****
Attended a private party at the Kitchen at Dilworthtown and was very impressed. From the appetizers to the meal there was no disappointment, even for buffet style service the food was incredible.
Best atmosphere. We got married here last year and enjoy every memory created that day. The food is amazing, as well as the service and cocktail bar.
Service good food not up standards expensive for quality gone down hill
Beautiful historical place. Great atmosphere, friendly people work there. And the food is great.
Felt like a patriot spy in this terrific revolutionary war era resturant.
Had an amazing company Christmas dinner in a private room upstairs with a fireplace.
The Inn is a great place to have special dinner or drinks in the lounge. When the weather is nice The Stables is great for dining too!
Excellent historic atmosphere! The food portions are huge but delicious. Each member of our party enjoyed their meal! Service was friendly and quick. They have adorable outside seating during the spring and summer which is a definite plus.
The dishes were very good. Loved the mushroom soup. But the "classic" Ceasar salad wasn't made at the table nor did it seem to have anchovies. The biggest disappointed was that the Zaget touted and their own website claim was the "800 bottle" wine cellar no longer exists....now just a paper wine list of a few dozen wines....
Chefs kitchen on Tuesday night is an intimate dinner with the chef and sommelier. It was a great way to enjoy a multiple course dinner and pairing multiple wine selections with those courses.
Food was good. Service was awful and so slow. Even with 2 waiters and a bus boy things were incredibly slow.
My wife and I had been to the Dilworthtown Inn, West Chester, PA several times in the past and were eager to have dinner there once again. We were staying at The Inn at Grace Winery at the time. (Another delightful place.) When we got to the restaurant Thursday evening, July 21, 2016, we were greeted like old friends. Dinner was wonderful; I had the Atlantic salmon, and my wife had the halibut. Service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable. As we were leaving we struck up a conversation with the owner, Jim Barnes. When we asked about one of the fireplaces, he treated us to a great history lesson and some behind the scenes looks at that beautiful, historic inn. He truly takes pride in the Dilworthtwon Inn. We look forward to a return visit.
One of the de facto standards for good service and excellent food in Chester County. If you are looking for fine table service excellent food this is your choice. This particular building was actually occupied by the British directly after the Battle of Brandywine. Many of the rooms used for dining are those that were used during that period. The owner, Bob, in an extremely generous individual and his staff is wonderful. The chef, Paris, is excellent and it's been there for years.
Classic formal dining in a beautifully elegant old inn
We have been to Dilworthtown Inn a couple of times and enjoyed ourselves but this last time was really a disappointment. We went for our 30th anniversary and asked for a quiet room for a little romance. The waiter came and had a hard time remembering the specials and didn't really seem interested in the menu overall. We made our selection and ended up waiting an hour for our dinner, which was tepid at best. I had lobster, which was cool to the taste and tough. The next table over the couple started playing youtube videos on their phone (loudly) and the waiter actually joined in watching instead of encouraging them to tone it down. We ordered a creme brulee for dessert and it was really bland, even with the candied orange peel. We were so underwhelmed by our whole evening that we probably will not go back. Definitely not a memorable anniversary.
We visited the restaurant this past weekend and were very disappointed. The server was not informative and was very slow. The food was ok but very overpriced. Will not be going back.
We were looking forward to this dinner for some time. While a lot went well, it could have been better. The ambiance is great, nice separate rooms with three tables. Great for quiet conversation. And the staff was great, very knowledgeable and congenial. The main course took a fair amount of time to come out, but still acceptable.
The scallops my wife had were great. Absolutely perfect. I ordered the tuna with cinnamon. This sounded like an unusual combination, but I decided to trust the chef. I found the cinnamon flavored tuna to be a bad idea. What. Was the chef thinking?
Our out of town friends chose the chateaubriand for two to be poorly seasoned. The meat itself was ok, but it had zero seasoning. Not even salt and pepper. And the Bearnaise sauce was thin and not very flavorful.
Not sure that we will ever go back.
