Dilworth Inn is one of our favorite places. Located in a historic building it seats a lot of people but still feels intimate because there are so many rooms. Excellent food and service! Perfect for a romantic evening or family gathering.

one of the alltime great special anniversary dinners. food is delightful, wine list huge (choices and prices), candlelit colonial setting, and very professional service. if your wife/significant other isn't pleased, maybe you need a different companion for a very special evening. we keep returning for special evenings and are never disappointed.

My wife and I went recently for our wedding anniversary. We live in west chester and this is a nice alternative to the boro scene. Awesome, historic building. Makes for a unique and enjoyable atmosphere. Food was excellent. The service was a little slow and we were charged for a side dish which was never brought to our table. We had such a good time, I didn't realize it until I looked closer at the check when I got home. Would give 5 stars if it wasn't for the aforementioned issues.

Looks like the end of an era. Last night was the worst experience I have ever had at the Dilworthtown Inn and I've been visiting a couple times a year for thirty-two year. Gone are the tuxedo wrap waiters and matradee. We arrived greeted by young woman in a sweater-like poncho pleasant but not the professionalism I expected. In the bar, a very vocal bartender informed everyone in earshot repeatedly- that he was making all the drinks and there was no one working the service bar. I can attest to the truth of his statements because I waited close to thirty minutes to place my drink order. We were also informed that it was the manager s night off and the staff didn t know what they were doing. We were escorted to our table by a gentleman sporting a blue plaid shirt weighed down by a ring of keys suited for janitorial duty! Our waiter was flummoxed that we had specially ordered the tableside Caesar Salad. Long time patrons know that the creation of the tableside Caesar Salad was part of the allure on Saturday nights. We should have skipped the salad, it was prepared with as much care as a fast-food sandwich. The flavor of lemon and salt abused our taste buds as we choked down the bitter greens to mask our dismay in a vein attempt to salvage what was supposed to be a special night for my wife. The restaurant was clearly understaffed. When our food finally arrived the waiter ran by us asking if everything was okay, just after the plates hit the table. Well the food wasn t okay. My filet was tasty but tepid at best. My daughters chicken dishes were chewy and cold. My wife s duet (surf and turf) was piping hot except for the carrots, which were raw. All the meals lacked the care and precision we return for year after year. When we finally got our waiter s attention to explain about the chicken dishes he balked saying he stopped back to the table and no one said anything. He finally agreed to take the meals off the bill as they sat nearly untouched. To make up for the numerous errors we were told that the owner wanted to buy us a nightcap at the bar. We agreed and as we arrived back in the bar area, our waiter was telling the bartender about a customer who complained all-night and then gave him a jerk-off tip. I can t imagine whom he was talking about?
I have to admit I was disappointed with my visit there in 2014 and you will find my post on Facebook. Bottom-line skip the Dilworthtown Inn! Spend your money somewhere else.

My wife & I went to celebrate her birthday. She had a gift certificate that was more than 17 years old! It was accepted without even a hint of any reservation. Excellent food, excellent service. Best in the area. Go there often, you won't be disappointed!

Went there for dinner last night after not having been there in a while. While the Inn has maintained its same charm, and the staff were friendly, the food has definitely taken a dive. Ordered shrimp cocktail for starter. It was OK although I have had firmer, fresher elsewhere. Entree was a pasta dish that was supposed to contain crab - no crab was in it - instead it was served with a pile of shrimp on top that appeared to be cooked but again, not the texture of fresh shrimp.. I should have complained but ate it, as I was starving by the time dinner came and hadn't had much to eat during the day. Big Mistake - the shrimp were not fresh and should have been tossed. Instead they tossed it on my entree - paid the price and woke up sick as a dog in early morning hours and throughout today. Other comments - bread was like shoe leather and my husband's dinner was also not that impressive for the money. We dine out often, at some places better than others - even so, I rarely have given a place a bad review. However, with respect to Dilworthtown Inn, my advice is that there are better options for the money elsewhere in Chester County. By the way if you want fresh seafood and are willing to travel for it, try Seven Seas in Milford CT - they're one of the best.
