Lovely friendly staff, clean and spacious rooms, great location
The staff are amazing especially scotty in the restaurant an the head of housekeeping
Very noisy hotel. Everything creaks and you hear everyone what they do. You can also hear and feel the metro drive under the hotel (slept 3 high). Beds are small and interior is quite old. Slept poorly 2 nights due to heat (no air conditioning) and noise. View is a gray wall 1 meter away. At breakfast there are dirty cups from which you can drink your coffee and tea. No longer worth repeating for me. Come to Newcastle often but never this hotel. Very poor quality. Personally was friendly.
Ideal location for forward travel. Very comfortable bed and room and bathroom really clean and well maintained
Great location and friendly staff. Comfortable beds but the feeling in the room reflected their low prices.
perfect location across from train statiom a short walk from shops and restaurants
Was nice to stay at close to everything you could need staff were helpfully only downside was the car park is small and was full but all in all we would stay again
Poor customer service, receptionist was miserable. Also, note that this place requires you to make a deposit of 25 pounds when you check in. I wouldn't stay here again, poor service.
My husband and I stated here in April and we had a delightful stay. One member of staff went above and beyond when we wanted a cup of coffee! Very kind, extremely clean. We will look forward to returning.
Good price. Very very basic rooms. Good location. Very warm inside..very. good for an overnight or a weekend break.
Situated directly opposite Newcastle Central Station and a short walk from the city centre, the hotel is in an ideal position for those arriving by train. As I attended for a meeting I am unable to give any information about the rooms but I can say that all of the staff I met were very helpful and welcoming. For those interested in the local history of the area the castle from which the city gets its name is a short walk away.
I went to an professional engagement at this hotel and it was well suited to the event, well prepared and easy to find. The room was more than adequate and I could find no obvious faults with it.
Attended for a business event. Easy for all the clients to locate easily being directly opposite the train station. Room was clean and well laid out. Had everything we needed for a successful workshop.
Hotel rooms are quiet and comfortable. Check in is always efficient. Restaurant does decent breakfast (apart from the coffee) but evening menu is poor quality. Staff are always nice.
Good hotel not stayed at the hotel for some year so was pleasantly surprised on the furnishing and interior, I didn't eat here but Hudson bar is worth sitting and having a drink in
It's a nice hotel, only down side was the room was very hot, no air con so like been slowly broiled
The hotel take unauthorised payments for drinks you don't drink and I am still waiting for a refund!!! Do not give your card to reception, avoid this hotel
Family room is very spacious, we are one child, two parents, another child would still feel a good sized room. Interior was smart and not dated, with complimentary toiletries. Hotel staff were professional and friendly, opening doors and lifts and taking our bags to our room. Parking next to the reception just off the high street opposite the train station was great.
Great location to wander into town. Obviously some noise would be expected as this is in the city centre and we stayed on a friday night... It was a bit noisy but the comfy bed helped and the noise stopped when the bars closed, I would stay here again so it clearly wasn't too noisy.
Reccomend for a comfortable stay in the heart of the city.
Very clean. Very comfortable bed.Great staff. Nice and cool air conditioning
An overall excellent Hotel and Staff
Great location. Nice bar an restaurant. Room on the 5th floor somewhat outdated but clean
It is possible to book including breakfast and dinner, but you have to ask for dinner at the guide desk. Can you eat? One of three course meals, but ...
There for a meeting. Lunch was awful. Room too noisy due to meeting in adjacent room. Really poor
Fantastic stay at this hotel, very clean and well run, not many Car Parking spaces though.
Just what I was looking for. Right next to the train station, plenty of shops, pubs and places to eat nearby. Was in the city for a visit to Newcastle greyhounds evening meeting
The room was slightly dated but not to an unacceptable level and to be fair, I'd booked a standard room. For a standard room, the bed was comfy, the room was clean and had a decent shower. My issue was, outside of my room (room 214) window was the hotel sign, which the hotel kept lit up with a very bright spot light all through the night casting a lot of light into my room. This made it difficult to sleep. On the plus side, the light had me up early for breakfast and it was a very good (small portion but well cooked) breakfast. I would stay at the hotel again (when working in Newcastle) but would hope for a better room. So tired right now :-(
Brilliant but tea for greatest shownam was not the best scones were like rocks
My favourite meeting place near to Central Station with disabled access and facilities, cafe-bar and light lunches. Good napkins and proper cutlery
Really nice after the renovation. Nice big rooms and bathrooms. All clean and tidy
Let down by restaurant...
The staff at the hotel were excellent and very helpful and friendly. The room we stayed in was very nice, the bed was extremely comfortable, the shower and AC worked well. However we paid for breakfast every day and was left disappointed by it.
It is forgivable that the quality of breakfast would suffer due to covid etc but we felt like the restaurant was much more geared towards walk in guests, than those from the hotel who had paid for breakfast with their room booking. There were 7 different options for hotel guests v about 40 for regular customers. You were offered a choice of different options (no vegan) but items were missing from that described on the menu. The vegetarian breakfast said you had a choice of eggs, yet it only came with 1 and the nut roast described on the menu was missing completely. With the continental half the items in the description were not provided. The breakfast was similar quality to that found in weatherspoons. Furthermore, eating out in the evening at the restaurant meant we had to wait over an hour from ordering to our mains arriving.
In conclusion I would recommend staying at the hotel. The location is probably the best in Newcastle, and the room we stayed in was nice and spacious. But either don't book breakfast or prepare yourself for disappointment.
We arrived at 11am with check-in not available until 3pm. Very helpfully, Paul O'Neil the Concierge helped us in with our luggage and got us checked in early. Excellent service. He even helped us up to our room with our luggage, where we discovered we'd been given a free upgrade. Exceptional service.
Room was lovely and comfortable. Facilities superb. Hotel bar and restaurant excellent. We had a lovely breakfast both mornings and a beautiful dinner on our last evening.
Over all an excellent location for a short city break - so close to the City Centre.
Lovely hotel, bar & resteraunt look great, obviously been done recently. Rooms could do with an update & they are very warm. There is traffic noise but not a lot you can do about that. Very clean & staff friendly & accommodating.
Great location for a Newcastle stay. Over the road from the train station and a small car park at the back. Staff at check in made no eye contact with me at all when I arrived! Security staff were more pleasant. The bar and restaurant areas are gorgeously decorated and look very high-end. I stayed in a small double on the 5th floor, which was delightful with a comfy bed, wardrobe that held an iron, ironing board and hairdryer. Loads of plug points around the room and the bathroom was really nicely decorated. Downsides were the location of the TV, squeezed in right next to the door - asking for trouble if tilted the wrong way - and the noise! Someone somewhere was drilling or digging something from very early hours of the morning and every reverberation was felt and heard in that room, so very little sleep was had.
Hotel is opposite the station. Rooms are spacious and well equipped. Staff are pleasant and attentive without being cloying
Lovely staff, great comfortable rooms, would definitely stay again
Amazing hotel which is very conveniently situated near the train station and a short walk from the centre shops, restaurants and bars
Extremely noisy in room. Here for work and haven't slept a wink because of howling people on their night out. Went to reception at 1130pm and was told to wait whilst there were three other people in the back room doing nothing.
The location is great, straight across the road from the train station. The rooms are clean. The hotel is on a busy road, so if you have a room that faces onto the main road you might not get much sleep
Nice hotel and great staff. Rooms are a little dated but clean. Breakfast options are great. Overall a good hotel
A lovely venue for a Christmas party but spoilt by the food.
Room was in need of updating staff exceptional ,the building is in renovation so locking to stay in the new rooms
Rooms very dated, dirty, way too small and way too hot (no ac).. staff was friendly.. still: never again..
The location is nice and centrally located and everything is within walking distance. Furthermore, the rooms are nice only the view was not really nice (a kind of passage for the ventilation e.t.c.). The staff was nice and the breakfast was nice too
Great hotel. Alarm didn't wake us up and the hotel staff allowed us one more hour to leave the room. Thank you! Spot on well mannered place and staff is a key and this place gets 5 stars from us.
Lovely hotel only 2 faults the president suite which we stayed could do with double glazing as street noise was bad . We were given this suite as an up grade but had to pay the difference from our original room which I think is just a money making scam
Cause heating was not working , the plug holes had to unscrew for the water to drain and tap so close to side part of the sink when it runs it over the sink . All we got was a sorry
Just hotel. Were in a renovation. But the room was neat
Nice, clean but been twice n no views.Asked 4view as well.
Just had an overnight stay in the West Wing. Beautiful room. The Hotel was ideally situated to access the surrounding bars and places to eat. Booked a table in The Hudson, the food and drinks were fabulous and all in stylish and comfortable surroundings. Breakfast next day was again served in the Hudson and the staff could not have been more helpful. The food was fresh and beautifully presented. A really nice treat and well worth a visit. Loved it
Hotel was OK, people friendly, but rooms not that great, obviously the ones they mainly show in photos are the deluxe rooms, whereas the standard is not all that - kinda more like a B&B, with 20 year old furniture, stains on the bathroom door, dingy lighting, shower is part of bath and was a little complicated to work out. Nice though is that it literally could not be closer to the station, so within 5 minutes I had gone from my room to checking out, purchasing ticket and standing on platform.
Great location if you're here for shopping and great cocktails! Beautiful room!!
The room was starting to look a bit tired but that's to be expected for the age of the building. But it was warm and comfortable with everything you would expect in it from coffee machine with pods and tea making facilities to TV and hairdryer etc so no real complaints. Shower was hot and powerful with the ability to change both of these as you wish. The staff were very polite, friendly and helpful. Breakfast in the morning was more than adequate with a good selection on the buffet on both hot and cold side. There is also a chef there to cook items to order as you wish.
Nice hotel. Very central, near Station and DFDS shuttle bus stop. No meat / cheese at breakfast as standard. Can be requested.
Great location for meeting across from station, friendly staff could not do enough for you
Good service and a warm welcome. Really nice food. Drinks are a bit expensive. Nice atmosphere and good location.
Nice massive old hotel opposite the train station Very easy
Great location, across the road from train station. Good dinner and cocktails! Good all round service. One word of caution, the rooms are lovely in tbe West Wing but there are a number of staircases to get to it!
Me and my husband spent the night here the day after our wedding it was a beautiful quiet hotel great for unwinding from all the stress and the restaurant is very well priced and has good portions, the only downside is I made one request and it wasnt carried out which was a little disappointing for something so simple but still we had a great stay
Stayed before but really gone down hill. If you want a noisy room with rude staff then look no further. A REAL DISAPPOINTMENT AVOID
Good for an overnight.excellent location next to metro and vefy nice prices.
Visited for a haircut which was very good. Wouldn't hesitate to go back.
Meeting room was a little on the small side. Good staff. Annoying that we couldn't bring in a coffee.
