Booked for a last minute night away with my partner and was very disappointed. Booked a small double room so wasn t expecting too much for the deal we got it for however didn t expect the room to be shabby, mouldy, and dated. Multiple tiles in the bathroom were cracked, and one tile was completely unattached to the floor, you could lift it right out of place. Surrounding said tile was pure dirt and filth. Not only was the bathroom unclean, but also unsafe. After asking to change rooms and being told to wait, we checked out not long after and got a full refund, which I am still waiting for. Seen better rooms at Euro hostels!!

Room 405 was a superior room or should I say was meant to be, no way should they describe it as that , very run down , wallpaper coming away from the walls, grout in bathroom badly needs replacing, cheap carpet not fitted properly, no fridge, the bed and pillows very soft needs replaced, over all room needs a revamp, on a good note ,staff very polite and helpful, Paul the concierge, was excellent.... breakfast was good, disappointed as the Hotel bar was closed on the Sunday due to a private Party ?

The hotel is perfectly situated near the train station and with a 5 minute walk your in the centre of Newcastle. The staff were really friendly and since their were no problems I didn't need to bother them. Overall it was a pleasant stay

The hotel is situated in the centre of Newcastle and st james park is only a 10 minute walk. The room was fantastic and the bed was huge. Breakfast was excellent and you had every variety from cereals to full English.
Full recommend this hotel.

Was at the County for a Christmas Disco. Food was good considering how many people had to be served quickly. Although it was a beautiful room with original stained glass windows it could have been decorated in a more festive manner. Disco music could have been more varied.

Overall clean hotel with pleasent staff. However I would never stay there again or recommend due to the constant loud noise. We had absolutely no sleep due to outside noise and really loud fan which we had to keep on because you couldn't open the windows.

Love the hotel, staff cannot do enough for you, buffet breakfast but the chef made fresh sausage for us as the prepared ones were well done. Cute little gym too. Will definitely rebook on our next visit to Newcastle

I stayed 3 nights. 2 for a stag do & 1 for work. Single beds in the first room were uncomfortable and the room was roasting (in January!)
2nd bed was much better but none of the windows can be opened more than a few inches.
Great location however!

Good food and drinks in the bar, despite the high prices but that's par for the course on a city center hotel.

The hotel itself looks good and has recently been renovated however the rooms are quite small and cramped with some bathrooms making you squeeze up against the wall to close the doors. Lots of the features of the room are clearly old and dated, including loose tiles in the floor and uneven surfaces.

The staff themselves were more than helpful when help was requested however we were still given the wrong room and the requests we made for the room that were agreed (travel cot for a child) were never supplied.

If you can sleep through anything, prefer tight spaces and have no plans to swing and cats then room 432 is made for you. This is sold as a small double but I would not recommend it for one let alone two. The rooms in the website and in room brochure must have been done up this is well past its best. It was not clearly designed as a bedroom but seems to have been maybe a corrosion an earlier life. Also as handy as being central is this is a noisy area with loud music until well after midnight and traffic sounds from 5 am. To add insult to unjust no safe , no hairdryer not even a shower cap. I am sure Newcastle has better.

Rated as a 4* hotel, unfortunately it is not. 3* is the highest I would rate the County on a good day. The glossy pictures of both the hotel & rooms are misleading. The rooms and corridor areas are tired and we'll passed their sell by date. Would I return or recommend, No, I would not.

My husband and I just back from spending a week here, couldn t fault anything or anyone from the moment we checked in with ever so pleasant receptionist, porter carrying our luggage up to our room which was lovely and serviced daily with clean towels bedding etc.
The restaurant was gorgeous and the food more so,had dinner 3 of the nights in it,staff so attentive.
Have been to Newcastle few times and this has been the best hotel due to all of above and location being directly across from train station and 2 min walk from city Centre shops bars etc. Will definitely book again.

Lovely, warm and an inviting hotel. I am giving it 5 stars, but there are some bits that need taking care of.
Staff are really nice, and helpful. Front desk was very efficient with a smile. Restaurant service was faultless, hosts and hostesses were excellent. The food tastes top class.
The room is clean, tidy with everything you can ask for.
Improvement suggestions:
Could consider replacing the existing power sockets near the bed to include a USB socket.
The bathroom let's the otherwise excellent experience down. Tiles are dated, bath is dated, there is no fan and there is no pressure in the shower.
Perhaps re-tile with something more modern, get rid of the old bath and have a nice shower instead and sort out the pressure. It felt very much like what we get at home, i.e. if someone else open the water tap somewhere else the temp changed to very hot. And it seems the more people use the water, the pressure becomes less.
It puts a small dent into otherwise a very satisfying stay.
Value for money is very good too, see if you can go for dinner and breakfast option, worth every penny and more.
Thank you for my stay...I will be back.

Sat in the lounge ready to depart and just had to get this off my chest, Been wide awake since 05.30 due to banging doors and guests up and down the corridor. The breakfast is small and very basic for a 16 stone man with the beans served in something a slight bit bigger than a thimble. Watched the chef put all the items on my plate with his bare hands one at a time and then carried on his normal duties without washing them. The room itself was quite pleasant and the staff were very nice but overall I don't think I would book this hotel next time. Perfectly located opposite the train station with everything within walking distance.

AT ONLY 8.0PM. NO DUCK,NO CHEESECAKE,AND EUROPEAN CHEESEBOARD WAS ONLY 3 CHEESES( blue brie and chedder) Very poor selection so we went home for desserts. As it is an extension of the bar area it is not a quiet restaurant .Service was ok.food ok but expensive for what you get.Wont be back.

Lovely small single room. Well laid out with all the amenities well laid out including an informative information pack and work desk with sockets. Friendly and helpful staff. By far the best of the 5 hotels I have stayed in in Newcastle.
