I spent a wonderful afternoon in their restaurant with a friend. It is a large, grand structure which is furnished a classy, old-money style. The staff is cooperative and friendly. The selection of food and wines is excellent.
The best thing I like about this place is they don't try to rush you either for order or after you have eaten. This is fine dining at its best.
And you may like that it's not murder on your wallet.

There is no wifi in the room, only at the ground floor. The breakfast was poor. The bed was too short, despite I am only 1.77 m tall. The room smell reminds a closed dusty cabinet, very dusty. You can hear any noise from the street and the other rooms, which amplified my impossibility to sleep in such a small bed. I had to survive there for one night only, otherwise I would have changed hotel immediately. As an aside, I don't know if this is a standard in London, but not having private toilet and shower is not acceptable to me at those prices (my bad I didn't check before booking, but I cannot believe hotels like this exist in a "civilized" world).

The County Hotel is probably the most convenient hotel to stay at if you need to be near the station. It's also right next to a Subway and a Gregg's! Personally, pluses for me. Stayed last night, complained about my room being adjacent to a rather dark place accessible from the window. The staff were refreshingly professional and very courteous. They upgraded me to a better room! Rooms are cozy, warm, and have a good circulation of air by opening just one of the windows. Breakfast was to be expected, but what I liked was the personal professional approach the concierge treated each guest with. All in all, would be my first choice if ever I'm in Newcastle again.

We found this hotel really nice, the staff were polite n friendly, and alot of the rooms have been redecorated and refurbished, so we were the first people to stay in our room. The room was large with lots of window s overlooking the main street. There were lots of freebies in the way of biscuits n toiletries in the room. There was iron n ironing board and a hairdryer to be used, the bed was a very comfortable double, but our mini bar was locked! There wasn't a chain on the door which I would have liked (I was woken up firstly by a massive racket at 6.30am by people walking past the door, and secondly at 7.30am by two random men knocking on my door??). The breakfast was delicious, but there was no scrambled egg n the tea was stewed. The bar in the hotel was awsome. I would definitely stay here again and my tip would be wear ear plugs.

Clean enough, breakfast was good. But I don't think I've stayed in a hotel where ear plugs are provided as standard and is so hot you have to have the window open... At least you would if it'd actually open more than an inch. Maybe I was unlucky and this was 2016.

We stayed in the deluxe double room for the weekend and this room was a newer area to the hotel. The staff were very friendly and inviting.

The hotel parking is hard to locate if you don't have an eagle eye and the parking area is quite small however meaning we had to double park however thee concierge took our car keys to move the car if there was any problems. The next morning was parked in a space of its own.

The room was clean and was topped up while we were out. It's in a great location in the centre of town facing the train station. 10/15 minute walk from the main shopping mall. Plenty of bars and pubs along the front and round the back of the hotel to enjoy.

The rooms are old and outdated, the WiFi does not work, actually the TV also did not work, broken tiles, broken radiator. The list is long and for the price you pay it is heavily overpriced. (part of the hotel is being refurbished and maybe the new rooms are good)

After spending the afternoon at the Nuffield hospital. I stayed one night at The County Hotel I found it to be very comfortable, very clean. Staff very friendly, great customer service. We ate in the Hudson restaurant food good although my friend sent the steak back the chef was not impressed; he cooked it to my friends liking eventually adding complimentary potato wedges!! I had the haddock which was delicious portion was too big I had to leave a small amount. No dessert although extremely tempting. I give a star rating of 5. I will return in the future.

Its a great central location. Room was ok but bathroom quite shabby without any chic. The shower had a mind of its own temperature wise. Ok to stay for one night if you arent too fussy. Staff all pleasant. We didnt eat there so cant coment on that.

Really enjoyed our lunch with Santa and then with the Easter bunny last year but this year was a huge disappointment food wise - tiny portions , bearly warm and veg was very al dente , the whole family was very disappointed with it don't think we'll be booking next year , that's at least 10 if us . I am an assistant chef and I would not serve that to my clientelle , i would be ashamed to

Attended a leavers ball in the Mozart suite which was large enough for a comfortable function. Rooms were ideal for those staying the night. We'll located in the city centre, perfect for events. Additionally, staff were incredibly accommodating and helpful.

Pleasant staff and reception. Rooms seem to be a mix of larger and tired or smaller and refurbished. Restaurant and bar are pleasant. Worst thing is the car park which is small and seemingly full of staff cars.

Room was nice, but it was uncomfortably hot, this has been reported. We were put in a room near to the escalators which unfortunately you could hear evertime someone came in and out. The house keeping staff parked there cleaning trolley near the escalators and we were woken up to them talking and laughing loudly at 7.45, after a sleepless night of being disturbed, we were shattered. It was such a shame because it's in a brilliant location, the staff were friendly and the restaurant meal was lovely.

Stepped off the train, walked over the road and the County Hotel was there, fantastic location due to proximity to the station and it is 5 mins walk to the centre for an amazing selection of pubs, restaurants, shops and things to do. Our room was small but was fine for the 1 night we were staying, had the usual tea tray, hair dryer, huge towels and was lovely and warm ( big plus for me ) Would definitely recommend :-)

The hotel staff were nice and the hotel is in a great location. However, the room wasn't very clean which was alarming in the current time. The room was too hot to sleep in, the window only opened a couple inches and we only had a desk fan. More

The room and Hotel were clean. Our room and bathroom were very small. When we arrived the room was cold because the heating had not been turned on and when we returned after our night out in Newcastle the room was cold again because the heating is on a clock system. Outside our room their illuminated lettering and lack of suitable blackout curtains meant our room was bright throughout the night leading to a sleepless night. The desk advised this was because the hotel was under refurbishment.

Grand staircase and friendly staff. My room was huge. Bed could have slept five people! Great location and good breakfast. The bar had some character. Very friendly staff. Slightly faded decor in rooms.

Shockingly small room for the price. I couldn't use the toilet properly as it is so cramped. Bed covers didn't fit the bed. And trying to leave in the morning with the car park was an absolute joke. Better off at a premier Inn.

The room and bathroom where cold as the heating didn't seem to be on. We were only given 1 large towel and there where 2 of us staying. The walls to the rooms are very thin and one could literally hear conversation word for word from the guests in room next door.

Beautiful building in a perfect location, a minute walk away from Newcastle station. Very inviting and friendly staff. Clean room, cosy bed. Outside is noisey with people out on the town at night, but that's to be expected from being so close to the station. It didn't bother me. Very cheap for the quality of room and comfort, it will always be my first choice if I stayed in Newcastle again.
