Went for the early morning rehearsal of four pieces of new music. Some of them were being performed for the first time. The members of the TSO are very experienced and skillful. The conductor was unbelievably knowledgeable and commanded the entire orchestra effortlessly. He's very kind, encouraging but firm with his visions.
I was so happy to witness the magic happened in front of my eyes and seeing the four new pieces of music from four young artful Canadian composers being performed from fine wine to champion.
Always a great place to visit. Remember to allow lots of extra time to park, find a washroom, your seats, maybe a snack. Remember if u are late by even one minute, or if u exit your seat for a bathroom break etc. you are prevented from re-entering until applause in the performance. A mother and daughter in front of me yesterday left a few minutes into "TSO-Snowman" and were not allowed to re-enter until most of the first 1/2 was completed. For $80 or so of tickets for the two of them plus the hassle of getting to the concert, that hurts. But I support the policy. It's not a cinema or rock concert.
Beautifully designed auditorium. Excellent acoustics. Not a bad seat in the house.
This is the second-best concert venue in the city. Good seating, great acoustics!
Stunning venue. Phenomenal acoustics. Great experience.
Always a wonderful experience, whatever you're coming to listen to. The hall and the orchestra are world class.
Lovely concert hall. Been here for a call to the bar and many concerts. Great acoustics. TSO also offers student discounts and subscriptions
I attended a Brain Tumor event. I never knew this space existed. Those living in the area and fortunate to have this available to them. Well kept park. So much grass in the city. I really enjoyed the park.
Great venue. I enjoyed the ambiance of the heart of Toronto.
I love shows in this venue. Every seat has a great view of the stage.
Great venue excellent sound quality comfortable seating
Always had a great time here, whether it's for the symphony or a tiff event, beautiful sound in this theatre.
Toronto's classical music destination. Getting more inventive with performances including comedy.
Acoustics are fantastic, friendly staff, comfortable seating with great view of stage
Very impressive hall, comfy seats, good sound system
Great concert hall but ticket prices are over the roof
Must love this place. Great music. Especially like the new creative programs such as the collabo with Second City. Highly recommend.
I really like seeing shows at this venue. The building is beautiful and the sound is great. Better yet, the leg room in the seats is reasonable and the seats are comfortable, unlike so many places where you see a concert. We saw one of the classic album live concerts here and enjoyed it.
I had knee surgery a few days prior to a comedy show on December 9, 2016 (Joe Rogan with Russel Peters and Big Jay Oakerson). I contacted the manager of Massey Hall (Cal) and he was very accommodating. He put in an alternative seat which allowed me to have my left knee fully extended.
Thank you so much Cal! Your staff were also very helpful!
Lovely concerts! Definitely above-average concert ambience, sound, lighting, orchestras, and experience.
Great venue, excellent acoustics, and good seating.
The best venue in the city for seeing the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, or any orchestra for that matter, given its space, bar offering, and the acoustics of the performance area itself.
Can't beat the under 30 tickets
Made very accessible to all and state of the art hall.
Excellent musicians all year round plus big names in addition to tso
They do call you on occasion to be a donor but they can take you off the list.
I had a really good time at the show only thing is was really cool go and have fun guys
Beautiful music hall. Service was very friendly and the AMEX lounge was cozy but well furnished.
Roy Thomson Hall is the home of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. The acoustics in the hall produce a wonderful spectrum of sound from the Orchestra. I think anyone who attends one of the concerts at RTH will come away with a pleasant memory.
The stadium style seating is comfortable.
Mostly good ambience during concerts. The staff behaviour is very professional and they offer coat check ins for a fee. But I attended a Persian concert here once and there was very huge crowd gathered and they weren't maintaining lines, were shouting at the staff and the security guards found it very hard to manage as they weren't coping for metal detection checks. There were incidents of kicking out drunk and abusive patrons involving cops. They do not allow outside food or water inside.
Great venue. Comfortable seats. The people working there are very helpful when you need to find your seat.
Great acoustics, great atmosphere, awesome facility. Recommend. Underground access directly from St. Andrew station. Parking at rear.
The kindergarten very bad very hot everyone crying there were no games
Wonderful Acoustic's one of the nicest venu in Toronto
One of the best music and entertainment venues in Toronto. Great public place and food options in neighborhood. Interior is simply the best architectural wonder.
Starting to show its age a bit... But the sight lines, sound, price, value and staff were all way above average. Plus, the show, 32nd Annual Women of Blues, celebrated the blues, plus society's fight against racism and the oppression of women. Perhaps a touch militant at times but when society needs to be told that it needs to work harder at being fair, that tone needs to be shared. Realizing that all aging white males are not necessarily a part of these historical problems can be challenging and overlooked as people cry out for their rights...
There's lots of fun & free music events outside and on the patio during the summer.
Really enjoy the design of this concert hall. Never had a dull moment when I was there.
Went to a TIFF screening here and it's a lot larger inside that I imagined it to be. Loved the fact that there was a bar (most of the other TIFF screening theatres didn't have these) and the building itself is still in rather nice condition considering how old it is.
I expected more professional service from front-line staff here. Firstly, their box office seemed fairly disorganized when it came to ticket pick-up: the box office attendant disappearing multiple times into the back before eventually another person emerged to help with the process after the line-up had grown to fill most of the available space.
Unfortunately, we also had no support from the ushering staff inside the theatre in dealing with the person sitting behind us who was taking multiple pictures very audibly throughout the entire first half, and then proceeded to leave their phone turned on with audible notifications. My companion had to turn around multiple times to ask them to stop. Even though it was clearly disturbing patrons in our section, there was never an usher who came by to address the issue, and I got the distinct impression that we had been left to fend for ourselves.
The building could also use better signage on the outside to direct people around to the main entrance. We had approached it from the public square side and ended up going the wrong way around. Luckily, we had arrived about an hour early so we weren't pressed for time.
I am a front of house professional who has worked at other theatre venues for over 10 years, many of those in management. It is regrettable that this particular experience here as a patron is giving me serious doubts as to whether or not it is worth the hassle and expense of attending any future concerts here.
Acoustics in this venue need to be heard..Captivating
Parking issues. Great venue for acoustic events. Convenient by Subway.
Visited this venue to listen to a fascinating speach by a National Geographic photographer. Not only was the speaker incredible but the venue itself was extraordinary. Truly an experience I will cherish. If to get the chance to visit this venue for any event, take it. You will not regret the experience of being in such a beautiful, Grand theatre.
Beautiful concert hall, beautiful music. TSO wonderful as always.
Whether you're attending a concert, live performance or a conference, you'll be left breathless by the spectacular architectural design and the spacious stage and seating area. The speakers are placed well and you'll never have trouble hearing the main attraction. I've personally been here for a multitude of events and I've left recharged and refreshed.
TSO's home base , acoustics are great if you are one of those who like orchestra. Great place to enjoy some classical tunes.
Went to hear Carmina Burano. It was incredible. This is one of the few symphonies that's accompanied with a huge choir. The 250 person choir sang magnificently with the Toronto Symphony.
The Toronto symphony was fantastic. The guest conductor was amazing. My 15 year old granddaughter loved it. It was very special. Don't miss it if it returns.
We went to Rahat fateh Ali Khan concert... simply mesmerizing!!
Great acoustics...loved it there :) parking is a bit of a nightmare...it IS TO....just give yourself an extra 1/2 hour when driving.
Catch the tso here. Frequent specially shows like comedy with second city or a complete set of movie soundtracks. Best acoustics you'll ever hear. Smells like bengay though.
I saw Handel's Messiah here and was not disappointed.
Love this place. It's so beautiful. Not visited inside. However - it's a very beautifully built building. I like the Hall.
