THE CLIFF BAY – Porto Bay Hotels, Madeira Review

We were sent here for the night when flights from Madeira were suspended. Not here long enough to appreciate it.

I write this review with a year's distance because I wanted to wait what pisitive or negative of the stay in my memory. First the pleasant things. First of all the brilliant location and architecture. Hard to beat the view from the breakfast table through the tropical garden on the steep coast to the sea. The entire Hitel is very tastefully furnished

The hotel is gorgeous staff friendly from the maid to the front desk.
Mango the Sternenrestaurant had no table for hotel guests the whole week.

Service is always excellent and felt very safe this year. Well done to the Porto Bay Team.

Disappointing experience at this hotel. Very old decor, rude staff and a general 'stuffy' feel. Won't be returning.

We only attended the Spa/Wellness as well as the Blue Restaurant and the Cactus Bar; that said it was all wonderful value for money. The very polite, well trained staff was certainly a strong point of the entire experience. Security/lifeguard duty were highly professional. Nice facilities at the Spa, nothing special. Tasty food, good cocktails. Definitely recommend.

Near the sea 5star hotel, good management and fantastic friendly reception...

We have been going to Cliff Bay for years, it's the only place where we really relax. It's always nice here, the friendly staff, the spa area, the food, everything
And don't forget Madeira is a beautiful island.

Excellent and personal service. Housekeeping is the best. Breakfast service is so efficient and polite, just what you need in the mornings. Nice bar and delicious cocktails. I recommend the Pina Colada.
Free bus service to the town centre is a surprising bonus.
Could not belive it when at checking the hotel management gave 10 per day per person compensation for the building work that did not disturb us at all. That is true customer service. Also nice to see the hotel manger frequently around the hotel.
We recommend this hotel and will be back.

Hotel The Cliff Bay is a 5 star hotel, where the staff absolutely want to pamper you. No effort is too much.
The hotel has (2019) a 2 star Michelin restaurant. They also have a simpler restaurant. The quality is high in every respect.
The Spa is great, definitely recommended.

As ever: Excellent staff we met. Decided for a tea time, but got the most relaxed and quiet place in Funchal. A different world to enjoy the afternoon sun with an afternoon tea. Thanks a lot!

Excellent hotel all that you could ask for - breakfast was fantastic room and service can't be faulted

We had a very pleasant week here in February. Good base for exploring the island. Great facilities and friendly staff. Ate at the main restaurant once which was fine but we found it better value to go out.
