Really disappointed with our stay here. Our room was tiny, the air conditioning wasn t functioning, and when we asked for extra pillows (only two on the bed), it took housekeeping a solid hour to bring them. For a 5 star hotel, this missed the mark on so many levels.

Fantastic staff, looked after our family during our stay. Wonderful hotel with a great spa facility. Rooms with a castle view are well worth paying the extra and treating yourself. Highly recommend staying here.

Built in 1903, Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh - the Caledonian is a historic icon in the heart of Edinburgh's Princes Street and offers the most rooms with views of Edinburgh Castle in the city. Excellent views, excellent service, pets allowed. The hotel's health club occupies 2 floors and offers a pool with castle views and sun loungers, a steam bath, a spa and a multipurpose sports hall. There is also a beauty salon where a wide range of manicures and massages are offered. Central, walking, which is healthy, to discover the beautiful adventure.

The hotel is 5 Stars and that s a good reason why I won t mention its advantages. Two issues to be considered: first, my room (including the bathroom) was very narrow, and second, they charged the internet service (WiFi) - which was strange.

Extremely attentive professional staff who went out of their way to ensure everything was right without fuss .
A beautiful listed building full of its own unique history.
A piper on the door when we arrived and doorman and concierge available at all times to add to the excellent reception team
This was a work visit but I would return with my wife/family

Had a lovely one night stay to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. Lovely room, nice added touch thrown in for our celebration, lovely staff and a great breakfast. I only wish we could have stayed more than one night.

Nice hotel, but afterwoods, when I contacted them to get some information about our stay, there was no response at all, even after three emails I sent. Makes me wonder how high the client is respected. Not joining them again. There is other luxury classed hotels in Edinburgh and will try them next time.

Stayed here on the first night of our honeymoon. The location is competely central. The service was brilliant, staff were helpful with special gratitude to the concierge staff. Room was big, and had everything you'd expect for an establishment of this size. Found the value for money really good with the added bonus of having access to gym and pools etc. A fantastic breakfast finished off a wonderful stay and we will 100% be back again, next time we visit Edinburgh.

Expensive place to stay but mostly you get what you pay for. Though some things could be improved, like the plumbing. It took 10 minutes to get hot water through to the shower. Also the bed was very uncomfortable and the windows need double glazing to keep the noise down from the very busy street below.
The Hogmanay ball was a fantastic experience and the food was excellent. We also dined in the Pompadour French restaurant which again was excellent.

The service in the Peacock Alley was awful every day we were there. On a non busy afternoon, my coffee took 20 minutes. Our pre ordered salmon platters took almost 30 minutes to come out when it literally consisted of salmon pieces and toasted bread. It is as if the kitchen is on the other side of princess street.

We arrived early to the Edinburgh location after a long night of traveling from the US. Unfortunately they couldn't check us in early which was understandable but promised to send a text once the room was available. The hotel staff graciously held our luggage while we checked out the local castle and Easter activities. However, the staff never contacted us and when we arrived back to the hotel around 3pm they had a room ready. Entering the room we were disappointed in the very small quarters. We noticed holes in the walls and after using the toilet and pressing the button to flush the casing fell off into the toilet. Being exhausted from our travels we debated contacting the front desk to move rooms....but than we thought this is the Waldorf Astoria and this seems more like a Motel 6. So we walked down to the front desk and explained the concerns with the room. They offered to move us and we decided to take their offer even though we had already unpacked. We were told to call the front desk when we were ready to relocate and to make a long review short.....the new room was even worse. Plastic over the carpet, no refrigerator, lost our exterior view.....the employee who helped move us was very sympathetic and relayed our dissatisfaction to the front desk. The same staff member who helped facilitate the move called us back to discuss the new issues and at this point we were done. Traveling with no sleep, expecting a great Waldorf experience and being disappointed repeatedly was to much for a institution that prides itself on being the best in the world. This experience has ruined our 1st day in Scotland. I'd recommend staying somewhere else if your expecting something more than a motel and the best service you get is from the bell boy.

My biggest regret of 2016 is choosing to spend the new year in this hotel .

Another thing you do not expect from a five star hotel, the mini bar didn't work so drinks were warm! The spa was also very underwhelming and the Jacuzzi broken.

Oh and then, when checking out I was charged for room service I did not have. For a lunch that was not ordered. Not only did the receptionist act like she had done me a service by removing this incorrect charge but she did not ask me how my stay was - I'm sure she knew exactly what the answer would be. But just said "you can go now".

Honestly the entire experience was stressful and unenjoyable and now even on my return back to London I am having mystery charges on my credit card appear where they have stored my details and are using them for god knows what.

The only good thing about this hotel was the door staff and the location. But unless you want your card details to be mysteriously charged multiple times during your stay when you barely set foot in side of the hotel I would avoid this hotel like the plague. It hides behind a prestigious name but does not live up to the expectations in any way shape or form.

There are no communications between staff and donot adimt their mistake when they made something goes wrong, seems like myself trying to make unreasonablely troublesome, digusting attitude for puting self mistake on customers.

This hotel is beautiful, from the architecture, to the interior design and furnishings; great time and care has been taken in every detail. Everything about it conveys luxury, efficiency and a high price tag - right down to the service. The staff are friendly, efficient and helpful - not an ounce of the sort of snooty cold service you might get at other high class hotels.

The location is excellent, and even the food (a common let down for hotels) is superb. I faced an issue with my bed during my stay which was immediately resolved - and every query I had was resolved with impressive speed. Whilst the room itself was nothing too lavish, I loved my stay here and would definitely stay again!

Lovely hotel in a nice location. Staff were very accommodating and the concierge reached out several times to offer assistance with our travels. Rooms were clean and well-outfitted. The location is convenient to everything.

What a grand old hotel! I love the view of the castle thru the windows! The location is ideal. The rooms are wonderfully appointed. There is a beautiful buffet breakfast not to be missed. Make sure you book it with your room otherwise its 25 pounds each person.

The staff could get some additional training on customer service. Guaranteed check in at 3:00 except they didn't allow us to check in until 4:30 and that was the same day we flew in from the US. Bad experience for a supposed 5 star hotel.

I've stayed at many luxury hotels in the past and the Waldorf Astoria in Edinburgh ranks at the bottom.

For the good: The room was very nice, the bathrooms were great, the location is also very good.

The bad: The service was "okay" and the spa/pool was pretty bad compared to other high end hotels.

Overall I wouldn't recommend this place, especially if you're expecting a certain level of luxury and pampering on your visit.

Aspires to 4/5 starts but fails to deliver. It has an iconic building and superb location but the service was too inconsistent across our stay. One breakfast excellent the next was too busy and slow for this class of hotel! Receptionists and concierges were present but queues at one didn't gain a change of function at the other to minimise them. The pool was unavailable when we arrived, but it didn't stop the attempts at upselling rooms, despite clearly being unhappy at changing our days plans. Finally a request for a small jug of fresh milk to be placed in the rooms fridge while we were out, asked of a very stylish guy on reception, failed to materialise! The Pompadour restaurant was superb for food, ambiance and service. Expressing this at check out solicited a decent response as regards a specific contact for a next visit, and we will consider here again next time we visit Edinburgh, but as our CHOICE for this visit we were disappointed.

This is, without a doubt, the gold standard of customer experience in the UK. Thank you to the entire staff for making our first visit to Edinburgh so enjoyable we didn't encounter a single employee who wasn't enthusiastically willing, unprompted, to take an extra step for their guests. Hospitality at its finest.

Hotel tested in July of last year. The rooms are ok. On the other hand the corridors, nooks and crannies show the dilapidation of the place - dust, patchwork ... everything would need to be renovated and dusted

I was fortunate enough to stay at the Waldorf and wasn't disappointed. The room was modest (small), but the size was compensated by the amazing view of Edinburgh castle.

The service levels experienced by the team was amazing and couldn't been faulted.

the minute I arrived in the taxi, I was greeted by the cheerful doorman. I lost a bag in the taxi, the concierge and manager managed to locate it and return it on the same night. The spa team were lovely, a special thank you to the beauty therapist Kasia for helping me with my manicure issues.... the service and hospitality at this hotel are exceptional.

I stayed 4 days in the Waldorf Astoria in Edinburgh and I was very much disappointed. This hotel never ever has the standards for a 5star hotel. The room was very small and dark. It wasn't really clean and the temperature cold.

Even the food in the Brasserie 'de luxe' wasn't overwhelming! I ate better in some of the local pubs!
This hotel doesn't deserve the this big name!

We're staying there just now and really not worth the money. Have a rubbish view and when I told them it was our wedding anniversary they put the saddest balloon on our room. Much nicer alternatives in Edinburgh.
