Wonderful hotel with history inside and castle view outside. Staff all very attentive and put you the customer and any needs you have first. Tess looked after ourselves and was a pleasure to be served by her. Accommodation is what you would expect to find at this kind of establishments - luxury

I have stayed at the Caledonia at least 4 times in the last few years. I like going to Edinburgh during the Christmas season and look forward to staying at the Caledonia. The hotel is decorated for the holidays. I have found my rooms to be very comfortable. The towel warmers are such a treat. I have also been very warmly welcomed by the staff and my Hilton status has been rewarded with room upgrades and a delicious complementary breakfast. I also look forward to being able to use the swimming pool. I hope I can return again in December 2016.

Hands down worst hotel experience I've had. Missing reservations when we arrived. Put us in the wrong room (Supposed to have a suite facing the castle, which we never got). Had to move rooms the next night (Again, not facing the castle). Disorganized staff. They lock the front doors after midnight. It's just a mess. They comped our nights, but when you spend $2000 on flights, a comped room doesn't really matter.

Good hotel, very old building and will be good place to stay for people who appreciate history. Service is just ok, nothing outstanding. Have a gym, pool, steam and sauna. There is a lounge that was quite good.

Its not the experience I was expecting. Reminds me of the Hilton grosvenor in Edinburgh except not a run down sh*t hole. However, its still its twice the price and not getting a wow factor I expected. I will say this though, the restaurant (grazing) is very good (food wise) had the braised beef tonight , WOW.

Just arrived to this beautiful hotel in Edinburgh city center. Visiting Edinburgh with wife and our kid. Until now everything from service to the room has been more than satisfying!
Update day 4: breakfast here is amazing and the breakfast staff deserves more than 5 stars for their excellent service!

Friendly staff and lovely clean, spacious room. Would highly recommend, given the circumstances of covid and the restrictions in place the staff made it a wonderful and pleasant experience to stay there.

Typical bait and switch. Advertise Castle View on Expedia. Accept reservation and payment BUT upon checkin there is no castle view available. And to make matters worse and likely illegal ... only provide the difference in price with a hotel credit that must be used during the one night stay. Essentially guaranteeing the hotel receives the full amount even though the hotel substituted an inferior room. There are several other high end hotels available in Edinburgh Scotland and I recommend staying with those hotels. The Waldorf Astoria in Edinburgh is living off its reputation rather than its actions. Again, this was the front desk s suggestion to correct their mistake. Either Waldorf should stop using the convenience of Expedia or start honoring their commitments.

Everyone here is amazing The afternoon tea was really good!! My favorite sandwich was...all of them! They were all so light which surprised me. I thought I'd be full by then. The dessert was yummy, too! Our view of the city was GORGEOUS! My camera could not do the picture justice. My friend and I almost cried at how pretty it was..

To the standard I would expect. Rooms were nice, and spa facilities really good, but what set it apart was the front of house staff. The receptionists, doormen and concierge were all top quality, and a credit to the hotel

We were a family guest in this hotel.
We really liked it, luxurious and tasteful. Wehrmutstropfen was the pool in the
Basement, which we did not like and smelled like cloak ..
Nevertheless, we have been very satisfied, especially because of our great room,
the restaurant and breakfast . Also the bar and the foyer were great .
For an Edinburgh trip, this hotel is highly recommended due to its location and history! We give 5 because 4.5 does not work .

Disappointing. Took 2 hours to get our room ready despite arriving well before it should have been ready. The room itself was not as advertised on the website; a 'Castle view' of Edinburgh castle being through a tiny window with a large air conditioning unit placed on a chair in front of it. The room was also smaller and gloomier than the images online. Staff were helpful and we received a discount but it was only when prompted and overall it just didn't live up to the cost or expectation.

It's not cheap, but for a truly lovely place to stay in the heart of Scotland's capitol, it would be hard to do better than this. The staff are really helpful and welcoming, the rooms range from comfortable to palatial, the food is first class and the spa is excellent. If you can't (afford to) stay, at least come in for a cream tea - your taste buds will be thanking you for hours.

Nicest hotel yet! Wonderful service and simply beautiful location and building. The room was spacious and the bed the first king we've had since we have been in the UK. Breakfast was ok, the hotel is conveniently close for a stroll to the grass market area and the royal mile within 5 minutes of walking . Do recommend for any stay in Edinburgh.

Public areas a little grubby with stained seating, service in Peacock Alley non-existent and drinks served in wrong glasses. Not the end of the world but hardly 5 star. A strangely incongruous electric fire on the side of the magnificent staircase at ground floor level too. Tiresome contact by formulaic text messages throughout. When I replied to express my concerns, they were simply glossed over and ignored so one asks oneself, what was the point and for who s benefit were they?

The Pompadour Restaurant provided excellent food but, even though there were only 9 diners, it took an hour for our wine to arrive. That was after being given an illegible wine list, which when pointed out, was replaced by another equally illegible version. Just careless really.

Our room was excellent as was the hotel position, the service and care, however, were 1 star not 5 star.

We stayed for 2 nights for a birthday treat. We were given an amazing complimentary room upgrade. With fruit and chocolates and a happy birthday balloon in the room on arrival.
The hotel is fantastic, all the staff are so friendly and helpful.
I hope to visit again one day.

I just recently spent my first time at the Caley after finding an amazing deal online for the Easter Break and I had a beautiful time.

The Caley is very much a character hotel. Despite a recent multi-million pound refurbishment it's kept its grand-palace style and this is reflected throughout the hotel. It does, of course, mean that if you're not into that kind of thing you could find it old-fashioned and stuffy but I loved it. The hotel's baby-friendly and the staff were courteous and helpful throughout.

It's a real piece of Edinburgh and perfectly located. If you book well, you'll get a room overlooking Edinburgh castle and the hotel is within spitting distance of Princes Street, a central shopping thoroughfare. It's also within easy walking distance of Edinburgh Waverley if you've come in by train. Its location means that it's really well-served by Edinburgh's ever-improving public transport system. You can easily find buses nearby to head to Edinburgh Zoo, the Mound, the Royal Mile etc.

If you're up for a spot of cheeky room service, it's expensive but great quality. We had a broken minibar fridge throughout the stay that they weren't able to fix, which was a shame because we would have loved to refrigerate some baby milk. Their pizza was a surprising delight. You should also check out their spa treatments for some pampering. If you don't fancy the spa, then at least you've got the bathroom. It's not the most luxurious I've seen but their baths were large and perfect for a great soak.

If you're planning on staying in Edinburgh, you won't get a much better mix than this.

One of the best afternoon tea places in Edinburgh. The portions were large, very tasty. The selection of teas is also very wide which is always a plus. Only wished there would be some live music taking place in the background (harp or piano) as it was awfully quiet when we went there with my fiancee.

First and foremost we want to thank Robert Hargreaves for his extremely welcoming service and attention. We decided to have our honeymoon in Scotland and spent two nights in Edinburgh. Our first night was at the Waldorf Astoria (The Caledonian). We arrived after a day of train travel to find a very welcoming reception and a personal tour from Robert himself (who I had emailed in advance about dinner reservations). The hotel is beautifully adorned. Our room on the third floor looked straight out at Edinburgh castle. We had a large room with ample space and a great bathtub. We also had dinner at The Pompadour - the Galvin brothers restaurant on the 1st floor of the hotel. It was an excellent way to kick off the night. We had breakfast at the other Galvin brother restaurant onsite, which was also wonderful. Overall, I would say that we felt like truly special guests at The Caledonian and I would highly recommend this hotel for those looking for excellent service at a centrally located hotel in Edinburgh.

A few other notes - this trip was booked with Hilton Honors points (I have gold status). The water temperature and pressure were great, but I did take a moment to figure out the handles. The have a spa on-site that I did not take advantage of - nor I did I take advantage of high tea.

Yes, there were few little issues to start with but I have not seen much more friendly and amazing staff members from reception to bar, restaurant and ofcourse the spa girls especially the Manager. Their service made everything better, so thank you again.
