I would definitely recommend this hotel! Service and staff were faultless. The hotel grand and luxurious with a great location. The gym was better than most hotel gyms with complimentary pool, sauna and steam room use (can t comment on these as didn t use these).

Fantastic building, and the location is great, walking distance to the grass market, Edinburgh castle and a number of gardens or other spots of interest to tourists. We mostly ate at cafes in the immediate area just to get out and about so we didn't try the restaurant though it looked just fine. Room was modern and nice if a bit small though that could just be a matter of what we booked. It's meant to be more upscale I think as the price would indicate so being on vacation and showing up in shorts we looked a bit out of place.

Nice hotel, great position, the Peacock Alley is amazing, but the hotel is dirty! The rooms are dirty, on the floors is smells like public toilet and sometimes like kitchen! The housekeeping is extremely bad! We had to call 5 times to get the towels that they forgot to bring after cleaning! First room we had to change it because it was incredible dirty! The concierge very lasy and unorganized! The doorbell has been asked to empty the ashtray from the wall, it was full and he said is not his responsibility, i should ask that to the concierge! To get to the pool you have to walk through the renovation area, meet all the workers, who were very polite, nothing to say, but i have seen guests actually living in that area of the hotel! It is sad because the hotel is really nice! The view is also amazing!

If you want to treat yourself this is a great place for Afternoon tea. Good variety of teas, sandwiches and cakes and they are happy to substitute if you don't like something. Surroundings were beautiful and there was a harpist playing in the background xx

Brilliant hotel with a very classical vibe. The breakfast selection is excellent and the two in house restaurants Pompadour and Galvin Brassiere are superb. The hotel rooms are spacious and there is also a spa, gym, pool, steam room and sauna.

I considered it a privilege to stay here on my last night in Edinburgh. The location is great and depending on the location of your room you will have incredible views of the castle! The restaurant (or bar area) was very interesting, alot of pictures of celebrities who have stayed there over the years. Would certainly stay again. My only criticism would be that there is a bit of old school "stuffiness" in the atmosphere.

Initially we were given a room so far away, took around 8mins to walk there! Then once we saw out room, it was pleasently decorated, but very small, there want much room to move around the bed. Also the bed was very squeaky, so we asked if we could move rooms. The reception staff were lovely and managed to move us to a same grade room. We couldn't believe the difference, the new room was huge, lovely. Such a difference. The hotel is lovely and the bar area really feels like and old fashioned railway hotel.

I had to move from my initial room as the air con didn't seem to work and the room certainly needed some maintenance. The staff were very nice and moved me to a room where the air con worked and the room appeared in a much better condition. I was disappointed that I was put in a room that was clearly below pass to start of with but was happy with the response when I brought it to their attention. Fitness services very good and location was great with fantastic view of the castle

We were having the most spectacular time, loved our room. Now we have been asked to move due to a plumbing problem. Our new room is much smaller and very noisy and a hideously small bathroom. So disappointed. My birthday present was a couple of nights away from the kids and it has been ruined

A tale of two hotels. If you book a "Castle View" premium room, you should temper your expectations. Apparently a room that could easily have been found in a Hampton Inn where the air conditioning doesn't work and the "view" of the castle is through a 8" wide "window", is a "premium" room.

If however you book a suite, you'll be treated to a really nice space with all of the luxury that you'd expect from the Waldorf brand. I shouldn't have had to complain to management to get this experience.

This fantastic building used to be s railway station so you have huge halls and spaces. I was just meeting with a friend so didn't partake of any of the refreshments but the ambience was very relaxing.

Great location opposite the castle and next to Princes Street. All the staff were very polite, friendly and helpful. Attended a conference and meeting room could have had better acoustics. Feedback from mics.

An older hotel, but a great service, the rooms a bit cold in the winter and yet with a view of the castle a great hotel. Breakfast ok, but the price performance ratio, modest.
Our daughter with a family had rented an apartment near the castle and was definitely served as we were.
Our next visit will be in June and this time we will go to the Ballmoral Hotel, will report again!
But Edinburgh / Scotland is always worth a visit, no matter where you are staying!

Rather disappointing stay. Initial room a deluxe double..... Only able to get round one side of the bed. Unfinished paint work. Fittings falling from ceiling. Complained and moved for second night. Second night room better.....but some similar issues. Overall not worth the money..... Stay at the Sheraton

Had dinner in the Pompadour Room with my family. The food was excellent! We tasted blends of flavors that were just heavenly. Since it was my husband s birthday, i wanted something special and it definitely was. The staff was professional and helpful. The room itself was lovely, classy and memorable.

The Caley Bar used to be a place I'd avoid at all cost. But walking past after a delicious meal at Galvin Brasserie next door, we peered in and thought to give it a go. I'm glad we did.
I felt like we'd walked onto the set of Mad Men. The bar has been completely refurbished with a cool 60s vibe, vintage style furniture and photos of Jean Shrimpton et al on the walls. Table service was in place, even on a Saturday night and they make a mean Manhattan.
