Comfortable rooms and great service. Only one issue was an alarm going off during both nights we were there. A bit annoying but not enough to reduce the stars.
Visited for afternoon tea. Was underwhelmed by the cake selection despite being the Christmas variant for the season. It wasn't a bad experience, but not what we'd expect from such a large hotel chain. Glenelg less still wins it on the afternoon tea front.
Had a great weekend here on a major family celebration. Brasserie is a must for first class food
Amazing hotel and the service was outstanding. 100% recommended.
Lovely rooms, great location in Edinburgh. Wonderful Scottish breakfasts!
Beautiful place. Staff smiling and attentive. I recommend the bar and restaurant very good value for money.
Great location and wonderful service. Quick walk to many popular sights, restaurants, pubs, etc. Would definitely go back. We had a great view of the castle from our room!
Great service, fantastic view of the castle, brilliant location right in the centre of Edinburgh. A weekend treat to give January an extra taste of indulgence.
The only place I stay in Edinburgh. Beautiful building, helpful staff- strongly suggest you book a king room. The queen room is a disappointment both size wise and quality. King room with castle view will blow you away!
Great location and facilities. Rooms were beautiful but service was horrible.
Great staff here with good training, the breakfast here is great and the rooms are luxury with great services
Staying at the Caledonian is a luxury experience. I am more than pleased with the excellent service and comfort.
Beautiful building and decorations, very friendly staff.
Perfect location near Prince's Street and Old Town. Huge, well-furnished (if a tad traditional, but this is Edinburgh!) room - we had the king suit. Tasty, but not stunning, breakfast buffet. Sincerely helpful staff.
But - no cold water for our shower the first day, which is as much of a problem as no hot water! And very little cold water the next day. Also, an administrative issue which resulted in a double charge for a night of our stay. The staff did correct that, but only after we brought it to their attention on two different occasions. So, a very good place to be, but a couple issues to watch for.
Very disappointing. Cramped rooms, haven't been updated in a long time with meaningful conveniences will not return despite being Hilton diamond
Fabulous beautiful setting and a scrumptious afternoon tea I would rate this venue as the best in Edinburgh.
Was ok. Rooms are so dark due to the decor and size, the lighting is not good enough to compensate for that so it was a bit like living in a cave. We also witnessed a guy bringing a prostitute in to the hotel and up to the bar and the staff didn't seem to mind. As there were kids around, this made me feel quite uncomfortable. Cleaners were not good and they didn't tidy the room as I would expect in a 5 star. For example our sheets were not changed for the duration of our stay - 4 nights. Also the pay per view movies were not working. When I called reception to find out why she said that their website was out of date...not acceptable for a 5 star. I also left my hairdryer behind and no-one ever bothered to contact me to let me me know or see if I wanted to collect it. Wouldn't return.
Lovely rooms, fantastic location and perfect spot for romantic getaway.
Lovely hotel. Great ambience, not overly attentive staff but always around if you need them. Comfy beds... and biiiig too.
We loved our stay!!!
Such a friendly welcome, and friendly staff. Our room was great; the shower was fantastic. Lots of little touches to make our stay special.
We made good use of the pool, sauna and steam, and gym.
Friendly welcoming staff
Truly enjoyed the stays here. Beautifully appointed spacious rooms and closets. Morning newspaper delivery and great breakfast
Very good supper in the brasserie and we'll attended by friendly staff
Excellent hotel in a prime location close to everything and lovely guerlain spa, Joanna was very helpful at front desk.
Faultless. Lovely atmosphere, staff attentive without being overbearing and food beautifully prepared and presented.
Their afternoon tea set sends you straight to heaven. Top up with a glass of Champaign to round off a great afternoon!
Not quite as swanky as I expected, but that's just coming from a spoiled American. The staff was spectacular, and the building did have historical charm. The Spa was impressive, and very clean. The location is pretty central so walking to the Royal Miles is a breeze. Overall great stay.
I went in to ask if there were any pictures of when the hotel was part of the railway station. I thought i would probably get a blank look and short shrift but my welcome was fantastic. The man i spoke with gave me lots of info on the history etc and was very knowledgeable. He told me some facts about what is still there and i was very impressed with the attitude he had and how much respect there seems to be at the hotel for its heritage.
We stopped in here on Saturday for a quick refreshment, first time we've been in. We loved it. We had a black forest bloom and a Innis and gun beer. The staff were fantastic with great stuff - we'll definitely return. Oh and the detox water was a fantastic touch.
Had tea and scones which were very nice. Though the waitress initially forgot to bring the scones.
Stayed here on our 3rd leg of our family trip and absolutely loved it. The rooms were beautiful and the service was 5 star.
Excellent service from all staff, Peacock Alley, despite its grandiose appearance, offers a warm and friendly environment to enjoy afternoon refreshments, lunch and snacks in a plush, casual environment. The restaurants within also offer a bit more of an upscale dining experience, with a very style-forward interior. The rooms are always excellent and beautifully comfortable, beds are like clouds and if you are lucky enough to receive a nice view, it s bliss.
A mix of the luxury of one of Hilton's top hotels and the heritage of the property. The interiors are elegant and the rooms grand. What they may lack in floor space, they make up for in the grandeur with the double height ceilings. I'm yet to try the 2 Michelin star awarded brasserie but I'm confident it'll match, if not surpass my experience at the hotel so far.
Had Afternoon Tea Birthday treat. Wow! What an awesome place. Luxurious comfort. Excellent variety of savoury options and cakes to die for. Specialty tea choices a wonder. Service beyond reproach. Highly recommended.
Nor very impressed with the quality of the stay , in comparison to other Hilton hotels in the area. The corridors are quite confusing and there are not enough signs to help you navigate them. E.g it took me 20 minutes to find the gym . Breakfast is not included in the standard room price and you can get a cosier room with breakfast included for less money at the Hilton Carlton. This hotel is very well located and has a nice vintage feel - if you like vintage this is the place for you. Staff is very polite and helpful
Nothing to say about this exceptional place, you are in the center of Edinburgh, you are received by exceptional people (from breakfast to the end of the evening), Thank you again to Elena who with her French, guided us so well for our girl who had minor health problems, thank you to all the teams at the Waldorf Edinburgh for your kindness and sympathy towards your customers. We are sad to leave this beautiful place after 6 days in Edinburgh.
Thank you

Wonderful staff, clean rooms, beautiful hotel in general
My worst experience, never expected a worse service from the Waldorf Astoria ! Being a luxury hotel you wouldn't expect a 20sqm room a Deluxe Room ! And just imagine the poor level of service for the amount of price you pay! Make sure you don't fall in the trap and stay in the small rooms
My experince has been great! The staff is friendly always willing to help, and the hotel is placed in a great location with plenty of pubs and other fun things within walking distance. If you plan to travel to Edinburgh I heavily reccommend looking at this hotel first!
Superb function and fine dining but service was too slow
So disappointed: woke up in the middle of the night because the A/C in our room was broken and the room was boiling hot. Complained the next morning and after an entire day, the A/C was still not working. Had to keep complaining till the evening, were misinformed that it was fixed, when it wasn't. Final brilliant "solution ": an incredibly loud portable A/C unit with nowhere for the exhaust to go out, so hot air was recirculating along with the cool air. It would be comical except that with the cost of the hotel, you'd expect something better. BTW, we asked for a new room and got a no. Thankfully we're leaving tomorrow AM so just one more night of this. Lesson: never again Caledonian Waldorf Astoria.
Fantastic Hotel. Friendly staff. Great facilities - the spa is a must for anyone staying here
Top notch hotel. Every single staff member went above and beyond to make our stay relaxing and comfortable. Sparkling clean and beautiful throughout the entire building.
Wonderful place. Room is really comfortable and the staff is exceptional!
Perfectly located in centre of Edinburgh and devine, romantic experience
Great central location, great service, enjoyed my time thoroughly. Only negative was the poor sized windows in the room. Went to see New Year fireworks but viewing was restricted as windows were small.
If you are after a very nice afternoon tea with the amazing service this is the place to go to. Walford is our family's firm favorest place to go to. It's very relaxed and you wont feel out of place for bringing a child with you but still receive the expected 5* meal and service
Amazing atmosphere in the lounge / restaurant. Try the hot chocolate!
Difficulty check on computers were down ,but l was given a lovely upgrade so worked out on the end
Great view good location for cool heritage building
The finest hotel in Scotland. After all Laurel and Hardy stayed here. Superb service. Excellently managed. Staff very welcoming and pleasant. Love it!
Good quality hotel with a great position at the West end of princes street in the centre of Edinburgh
We went to the Caledonian for drinks and a meal, ended up having drinks after the meal as well. The atmosphere was great, the service attentive, and the food was tremendous. Very highly recommended!
The Peacock bar is one of the most relaxed places for an evening drink in the city.
Attended a family friends wedding. Well prepared food and accoutrements, but everything was very slow to get done
Hotel located in a very central position. As soon as you enter the hall, the many photos of celebrities on the walls testify that the structure is the top: large rooms, classic furnishings, fitness room, swimming pool with hydromassage.
Buffet breakfast, including smoked salmon.
Better than that is difficult.
Was there on a work function, food was good and service was great.
Despite some trouble with the equipment, the level of the service by the staff made this a fantastic experience.I had never given 5 stars when I had a cold shower! Definitely worth it.
Lovely hotel. Good hard working staff.
Bar staff are lovely
