One of the best parmies I've ever had. Great service and great beer selection!
Room was well priced, spotless and comfortable. Staff were awesome. Friendly and welcoming. Food was top notch. Will stay again for sure. Not a luxury hotel, yes bathroom was small. Was given 5 stars for value for money and quality food.
We went here with baby, it was good for us, but we are easy going young parents, I dont think other families would want to stay here with a young one. Family rooms are on the top floor and it was a pain to carry to pram upstrairs.
Fantastic food, schnitty and pint deal was great value too. Would happily eat there again
Friendly pub for a quick drink with friends in Central Hobart.
Its good. Just dont order the Wild Pig unless you love Clove and Cinnamon
It is a shop said to be No. 1 Palmi in Hobart.
I got Jacka Lantern recommended by the waiter with Wallaby's meat. It was easy to eat without smell and haze.
Tapas are mushrooms maybe Maiko? Well, I think that the smell was good and the taste was familiar to Japanese people.
Recommended for evenings with wine and food in the heart of Hobart.
(The hostel at the hotel is no good. It's dirty. Please think different.)
Visited on a saturday night for dinner, kitchen closes at 9pm, we had been to a sports match, so we only just got in - a common problem in Hobart!
I had squid which was ok.
Well heated, live singer who was good.
I would recommend looking for another place to stay, if you can. We payed 145 for 2 pp/ night in a 6 bed dorm. The facilities are very old, the room smelled funny, showers and bathroom are super old and were dirty. This place is not managed with love. The price was weight too high for what we got. There is no towels included in the price and when we asked reception for towels to hire. Staff was too lazy to go upstairs and get us towels, but rather was complaining about longer working hours. He saw our disbelief, when saying he can t go upstairs to get us a towel and so he promised to leave towels on our beds after 9pm for free. When we came back from dinner there were no towels. Not dramatic, but definitely no hospitality.
We stayed here in the delux room, it was ok, no hair wash only soap and a little noisy but it is what it is a hotel above a pub, it was clean and affordable
Cold beer next to a hot fireplace on a cold night - winning!
Great chicken parmagiana selection. The chicken is always nice and moist. You can eat inside or outside most times. Service is pretty quick.
Can be a bit busy and noisy but great venue with good food and beers/drinks
We were impressed with the friendly service and well priced meals. The menu had something for everyone, with an impressive selection of chicken parmas. Adding to the relaxing atmosphere was a musician playing a good mix of acoustic covers.
We just snuck in in time for the kitchen to still be open and ordered lunch and drinks. Wine came almost instantly and the food wasn't far behind it. The meals were big and tasty! Well worth the money. Only thing I'd like to have seen was some different kid options and maybe more options for those with allergies/intolerances. Also service was a bit icy HOWEVER we did arrive fairly late so I understood that.
Good food, great service. Can get very loud even early in the night.
Their fish of the day will feed a small mouse. If you leave a restaurant hungry, what is the point of the restaurant?
Thoroughly enjoyable meal. Service was prompt given we were there at 8pm on a Friday night. Bar was fairly busy and live music was pretty good, and not so loud that we couldn't hold a conversation. Will be back again.
Location great.. nothing wrong with this place... Kitchen area is stairs away...
Service was a hit and miss - the atmosphere seemed quite eerie and dark inside with no music and very dim lit dining area.
They mucked up my room, I had been paying for the private room which was quite nice & then due to their"double booking" so they put me into the dorm room where the bed was uncomfortable! It was so unsafe in the hallway & when I mentioned to he water drioping down from the light when it was on it wasn't fixed?! The restaurant bwas awful as my food was inedible?! So old & needs a refurbishment. Had something stolen overnight in the communial despite being clearly labelled. The oven didn't work properly either. Communial kitchen always dirty although cleaners in it daily.
We had dinner at the Brunswick, service was great and so was the food
Omg the Parmi selection is amazing and taste as good as they look.
Some of the best parmies in town coupled with some of the worst service.
Made a booking for Sunday for two, thinking it would be a quiet night - once we arrived we were notified we would not be sitting in the dining room. Instead, we were seated in the cold bar area and instructed bluntly to order at the bar as their table service could not possibly extend past the dining room.
Key takeout: It's a pub meal - don't expect an intimate dining experience.
The food is pretty good though.
The food was amazing, and the staff were friendly and happy to cater for dietary requirements.
Live Music Wed-Sat. Decent selection of beers from tap. Friendly waiters. Not too cheap.
Great food. Great ambiance. Good service. Highly recommend.
First I want to say the pub is amazing; food, drinks, staff, and entertainment are just awesome (pub gets 5 stars). On top of the the staff at the front desk of the hotel are great too, very helpful and friendly (the staff and only the staff get 5 stars).
Sadly I will have to be honest and say the actual hotel is horrible, I stayed one night and found accommodation else where before I even went to bed (there was no way I would ever shower there even if you paid me). The pictures on their website aren't what it is at all. I think they only renovated the pub. The other comments below are conflicting because I think some are only for the pub and the others (the bad ones) are for the hotel.
To give you an idea: I was trying to sleep on the bed (which was as hard as cardboard and sunken in like 10 000 people have slept on it) while there was a baby crying above me and I could hear the guys in the room beside me talking about the baby crying above us. Then when anyone walked in the hallway my whole bed would shake. The part that I could not handle, and my breaking point, was the showers, holes in bottom and honestly look like they are out of a horre movie. Be warned.
Paid $13 for a can of beer. Not so sure that's quite right pricing for an IPA
Its OK to sleep and have a shower, but not to comfy and old
Great food, friendly staff and fairly reasonable prices.
Plenty of space for large groups between the restaurant and the 'beer garden' out the back (it's actually fully enclosed).
They were very accommodating for our group of 15 for dinner and service was prompt and attentive. I would definitely go back next time I was in town.
Nice place for a few drinks. A bit expensive but great service.
Great location, clean rooms, kitchen mostly clean (it is a hostel after all), nice hot showers, great food and atmosphere in the bar downstairs.
The accomodation was pretty pathetic. Bunk beds straight out of a 11 year olds scout trip, no ensuites or proper linen. The noise was also outrageous and if you stay here don t plan on sleeping. At least the wifi was good...
Great service - they were happy to move us to new seating to accommodate a friend with a bad back. Yummy food and a friendly atmosphere.
In the heart of the city, great parmi's, great service!
The Brunswick make the best Parmi's in Hobart, period.
Staying here for two nights in a dome with 4 bunks. The place is quite filty, dirty floors and filty shower/toilet blocks. The bar/pub is quite nice though.
Rooms are extremely outdated and tiny, found a previous guests shorts next to the bed so questioning if it's been cleaned. But the food down stairs is amazing and such a cool atmosphere.
Gotten a little pricey in its old age. Doesnt really offer anything to match that. Still a good pub none the less.
Good spot, got busy on the Friday, nice and warm inside, good outside area if the weather is warm, good choice of beers
My Home away from home! Love the staff, the atmosphere, the beer and OMG the food!
Great inexpensive place to stay literally in the heart of Hobart CBD. Great atmosphere 4 a bevvie and a bite 2 eat. Swing by and sample a bit of Hobart hospitality....
The Swordfish and the fish and chips were good. One craft beer out of 5 regular beer choices. Service was good
Very impressed with our food, quick service, friendly staff and cold beer. What more do you need?
Food took a long time but was great when it arrived.
We had the chance to stay for 3 nights at this hotel while we visited Hobart in our road trip around Tasmania. The hotel itself is historic, which I do love old buildings, something very attractive to me. As you could expect from old buildings sometimes is the infraestructure inside. There are no elevators (lifts) to go up or down, the rooms are really small, unfortunately we had to share the shower and toilet. They are clean at least, so we were not very annoyed because of that. There is a bar dowstairs which is very convenient for the people that stays in this Hotel, nonetheless, it was closed for the entire Sunday we were in Hobart, but we did not mind as we preferred to eat and drink around the marina. This hotel is affordable compare to others, but, If I go again, I would rather spend a bit more and stay somewhere more comfortable
Undoubtedly the best Parmi in Hobart and nice selection of beers
It is a basic simple backpakers/hotel in an old building. However the rooms are well kept, clean and good enough. We had an ensuite bathroom that too be fair was very small, but worst case you could use the shared bathrooms. Location is very good in the heart of everything, with a Woolworths across the road and close to restaurants and other shops. The pub downstairs is nice with live music (not sure when though). It is value for money in my view.
Genuinely surprised. Went for an average pub meal and ended up with a pretty darn good feed. Was much more done up than your average pub and the food was delicious with a good selection. Portions were very reasonable too. Staff were very friendly and only too happy to seat us even though we had no reservation for dining area. Highly recommended for a night out.
Expensive for what you get, 24 hour music from the gym next door
