I like to say I adopted mAh Kobe from this shelter. His name was Jolly an amazing 8 yr. old Chihuahua. Great shelter but there are CONS... What I have noticed is that you get what you get. This shelter I believe just wants to get rid of these animals ASAP without knowing their behavior. Day I adopted mAh Kobe I noticed:

1) He doesn't walk on leashes
2) He is deathly afraid of MEN!!!
3) He is scared of loud sounds
4) He scared to even eat sometimes because his collar with his tags hits the bowl
5) It seems like he has OCD especially when he eats... He goes back and forth a few times before he grab some food...
6) He ran away from me twice because he was scared of mAh man cousin and since he doesn't walk on the leash he follows me but I have to walk him alone at night where there's no one on the street
7) Pros: He loves kids (I think because there small just like him
8) He love women (lady's man )
8) His little tiny bark is cute he was quite for like 2weeks no bark but my house was getting remodel and he didn't like the workers so that was the first time he barked, it's such an old man bark too
9) We moving to Boston soon and he will be surrounded by good ppl that will love him.. no more Vegas
But thank God he trust me . It was hard in the beginning and we still have a long way to go before I see any dramatic change.

P.S. Please know these dogs before they get adopted, because it can be a dangerous situation. You don't know the dogs likes or dislikes... I'm patience and will do whatever I can to make his little life amazing and comfortable... 1st thing is to get him to walk on a leash. 2nd to get him use to men because we will be living with men So wish me luck

I adopted a very sweet kitty from here in June who I then had to have put to sleep in August. She first had a very severe upper respiratory infection which I know many shelter cats develop URIs but I have never had one this severe. She almost died from it. I had to leave her at the vet a couple of days after getting her home so she could have a fluid IV. She was sick for almost three weeks but pulled out of it. Then her abdomen started to fill with fluid and it turns out that she had FIP which is a death sentence. The vet said stress can cause the normally dormant virus to mutate and become deadly. I obviously understand that sometimes things like this just happen but I was very attached to my little girl and am still deeply saddened by her loss. They said she was 4 years old and the vet said she was definitely much, much older than that.. which is fine because I've adopted senior cats before but I may have been slightly more prepared for her sudden loss if I had known she was a senior when adopting her. They also held her for a day after I adopted her to spay her but then realized she was already spayed so that was extra stress she didn't need to go through. In the end, I spent $2,000 trying to save her life.
I also had a sweet stray in my backyard last year and since my husband and I used to volunteer here, I called Animal Control as I knew she'd end up at the Animal Foundation which we were told in the volunteer orientation only euthanizes animals as a last resort. Well, someone I had spoken to said they were going to go to the shelter the next day to pick her up and she was told that they had to put her down because she was "too aggressive". Not one time while she was hanging out in my backyard was she aggressive towards me and I deeply regret not keeping her even though I already had three cats at the time.
My husband and I have since decided that we will adopt only from one of the smaller sanctuaries in town. I got my heart broken too badly this last time.

This is a big facility that must take in all dogs ...

This is a big facility that must take in all dogs and cats that are brought here. The problem is that by sheer volume, they can't find homes for animals fast enough and statistically, many animals don't make it out alive. Yes, this is a "kill" shelter but because they must take every animal in, and don't turn any away, this is the way it must be for now.

I chose to foster a dog in hopes of helping at least one life. We picked the saddest looking black dog they had and took him home. He had been turned in as a stray and seemed to have had a very scary life before the Animal Foundation. We kept him for over 6 months and helped him find a forever home. Most foster animals take less time to find an adoptive family but we were doing this for the first time and didn't know that the majority of the marketing, was supposed to be done by ourselves.

The Animal Foundation was supportive and gave us the initial supplies needed to get situated. We had never done this before. Going in blindly was not easy, but I can say it was very rewarding. We had the opportunity to watch a dog develop and find his way back to a "normal" life.

The Animal Foundation is not perfect but they serve a the community in a much needed way. What they need is more outreach to get people involved and to inform the public of their existence. We'll foster again and we hope to inspire another family to do the same.

I had to put my dog to sleep he was 11 years old and really sick. I did 't have the money to go to the vets office. The people here were wonderful they give you a paper telling you about options you have. They take you and your pet to a room that is very calming like a little living room with calming music playing where you can say good bye to your pet and then they come to take your dog when your ready. The staff here are so caring and thought of your feelings and so caring to my dog. Thank you for having a place to take my dog to that was so calming and affordable. Thank you so much.

An amazing place. It's light and open and not a depressing place at all. It's very professional and also gives you a feeling of caring. I'm a senior and it didn't cost me one penny to adopt my cat. They even provided some food and a carrier. I brought a small carrier, but it wasn't big enough for my rather large cat. :-)

Donations are necessary for the place to remain open. But also items such as blankets and peanut butter for the dogs are happily accepted. If I had to say anything negative, which is important in any review, they're very difficult to reach by phone. At least during the time I was calling. So I recommend just going there in person.

Attaching a pic of the cat I adopted. Her name is Tribble. She had obviously been very abused, but now she's just incredibly spoiled and happy.

My experience was horrible. I brought in two dogs in for their annual shots. they usually get scared of strangers & the workers just dragged the dogs in without in care of the dog's feeling. Which cause my cousin's to tears. Never again.

We recently went down to the location to adopt a certain dog that we had heard about. We were told that the dog was NOT available for rescue since it was to be placed in some kind of upcoming event at the Orleans. We WERE ready to pay the $250.00 fee on the spot and were turned away saying that the dog was going to foster care until then?!? What exactly IS the mission of this group if NOT to find loving homes for pets as soon as possible??? So not happy and am going to look elsewhere with someone who actually cares about the fur babies and is willing to place them immediately!!!

This place is the worst adoption place in the City...

This place is the worst adoption place in the City of Las Vegas. The lady at the front counter was told we wanted to adopt a dog. She says to us, "Through the double doors in the back but we are closing soon [It was 6:14 PM] so you won't be able to adopt today. You are welcome to go in the back and look." Keep in mind this place doesn't hold dogs. So even if I found a dog I liked and came back it they would adopt it out to someone else. We even had the ID of the dog we wanted already so its not like we even needed to search. Their door says they close at 7 PM but adoptions close at 6:01 P.M. according to the lady at the front. No wonder there are so many dogs on their stuck there.

If you want a dog go to places like Petland. At least that way you get customer service, a pet you want, a warranty on your new best friend, and treated with dignity and respect. This place proved to me that adopting is a bad idea. I guess I can at least thank them for that!

BUYER BEWARE.......The current Pomeranian promotion is a rip off....do not put any money down unless you can afford to lose it...read the fine print.I missed it as it is not in bold face print...if you're not picked to adopt the Pomeranian you put money down on....you lose your money and they take it as a donation....they give you an opportunity to adopt a different dog .....but the money you put down will not be refunded.... so if you put down what is a LOT of money 200.00 per bid with a maximum of 3 bids..totalling 600.00.. youll lose it all....so unless you can afford to lose a bunch of money dont put money on this.....classic Las Vegas bait and switch which will wind up in court...i have already stopped the payment through my credit card

I just took my cat to this place a week ago. Today I came back to see if it was still there and if it was still there it was very sad for me to leave it and I miss it very much but I couldn't have it with me anymore. It seemed like a very clean place and they are very well taken care of everything very clean in their cages. The area of the dogs if it smells a little bad. But out of that all very well .. I hope someone adopts my kitten soon. He looked very sad there locked up. His name is Romeo Siamese breed. Very cute kitty.please !!

I go here for the low cost of shots, but the wait is always so long. There is only one person giving them and it takes FOREVER. It s clean though and it s a nice option for cheap services, so I can t complain much.

This is a beautiful animal shelter. The staff are so pleasant and helpful. They have many, many larger dogs which I suppose are harder to find homes for. It is a bit heartbreaking there are lots. But they are all in nice little shelters and are able to go outside as well. The place is kept very, very clean. I've been here a few times taking friends here to find dogs. I always love going there. I just wish I could take more of these beautiful animals home with me.

We got our beautiful boy Benson here and I couldn't have found a more perfect dog. Benson is a black lab mix (the black dog) who loves his brother Otto (the white dog). These two are inseparable and bring our family many smiles. I love rescue dogs and Benson is the best I've ever had.

To my point of view I would NOT bring your animals here if you are thinking about giving them away! FIND A HOME before you even dare to come bring your pets here. I had brought in a NON stray cat & found the cat injured on the streets the other night. I don t know how far they go with dogs but I ve heard bad reviews. SO please try & find your anaimals homes they re websites!! Please do NOT drop off your animals here.

TAF is clean, has a lot of space for each animal in comparison to other facilities, and a friendly staff of people who seem to really care about the well-being of animals. They're currently under construction though, and you should wear sneakers not sandals. There are usually a lot of animals and you should prepare to spend some time looking around and greeting different animals. If you have lost your pet, you can come here to look or you can look online.

Nearly 2 decades ago in 1997 I visited the feline area of The Animal Foundation. While the rather unattractive trailer was decidedly unimpressive, the interior was clean, well-lighted, tidy, freshly painted, and it smelled GREAT! No unpleasant animal odors at all! Additionally, the staff (2 ladies) were friendly, courteous, most helpful and completely professional.
I adopted Tess, an American Shorthaired yellow tabby kitten that day. My lovely Tess was my companion for the next 18 years and 2 months.
In March of this year I returned to the Foundation and adopted a little 9-year old mixed-breed dog in their "Seniors for Seniors" program. I named her Abby. We are inseparable and I love her dearly!
This latest visit to the Animal Foundation was in sharp contrast to my visit nearly 20 years ago. The facility is enormous, but it is still clean, beautifully maintained, and virtually odor-free. The grounds are attractive and free of litter and animal waste . . . and the staff has grown by leaps and bounds in keeping with the exponential growth of our homeless animal population. Still, the Foundation workers are courteous and eager to assist visitors. They are still friendly while remaining professional.
For anyone looking for the "pet of their dreams", you really must consider pet adoption at The Animal Foundation!!!
And remember, the adoption fees also include veterinary care received by your new pet. The donation is the least we can do to ensure that the Foundation's important work can continue!
FIVE STARS - DEFINITELY ***** !

About The Animal Foundation

The Animal Foundation is a non-profit organization located in Las Vegas, Nevada. It is the largest animal shelter in the state and has been serving the community since 1978. The foundation's mission is to save the lives of all healthy and treatable animals in the Las Vegas Valley.

The Animal Foundation provides a wide range of services to help animals and pet owners alike. One of their primary services is pet adoption. They have a large selection of dogs, cats, rabbits, and other small animals available for adoption at any given time. All pets are spayed or neutered before they are adopted out to ensure that they do not contribute to overpopulation.

In addition to pet adoption, The Animal Foundation also offers lost and found services for pets. If you have lost your pet or found a stray animal, you can bring them to The Animal Foundation where they will be scanned for microchips and checked against their database of lost pets.

Another important service provided by The Animal Foundation is their low-cost veterinary clinic. They offer affordable vaccinations, spay/neuter surgeries, dental cleanings, and other basic medical care for pets. This helps ensure that all pets in the community receive proper medical attention regardless of their owner's financial situation.

The foundation also has an active volunteer program where members of the community can donate their time to help care for animals at the shelter or assist with events and fundraisers throughout the year.

One unique aspect of The Animal Foundation is its commitment to saving all healthy and treatable animals in its care. This means that even if an animal requires extensive medical treatment or behavioral rehabilitation before it can be adopted out, The Animal Foundation will provide whatever resources are necessary to give that animal a second chance at finding a loving home.

Overall, The Animal Foundation plays an essential role in promoting responsible pet ownership while providing critical support services for both pets and owners alike within Las Vegas' communities. Their dedication towards improving animal welfare through various programs makes them one-of-a-kind organizations committed towards making this world better place one paw at a time!
