One of the only places that will adopt out for free most times just to find dogs and pups a home. Great clean place that houses so many animals of all kinds that you just dont know how they do it. I have never been to a pound or rescue that is as sanitary and committed to animal welfare as this place. You can go during hours of operation and tour the entire expansive place uninterrupted like a zoo. It's very overwhelming to see how many animals are there that need homes so please don't forget to bring plenty of tissues. I cried the whole time but it was comforting to know that Las Vegas' s unwanted pets had a decent place to live until they find their destination!!! Go here/Adopt here!!

With the Covid-19 Pandemic it makes it very difficult to make an appointment to see any animal. I know in the past they were a wonderful place to work with. I hope everything will go back to normal someday.

We re adopted a few animals from here now and we love it. The staff is very passionate about what they do and are always happy to offer assistance and answer questions. The facility is very clean and you can tell they care for the animals well. The adoption fees include vaccines, microchip, and spay/nurturing so I find it to be well worth the cost. They will offer refer you to various vets around town and your check up visit is covered. Our pets have saved our lives More then we have saved theirs

While it makes me sad that any place has to be a kill Center the fact is that these good humans go the longest distance they can to reunite lost animals with their people, and find furever homes for those that don't have them. I am incredibly grateful to this organization for finding my kitty and taking care of her when some very bad people let her out while I was in the hospital.

Horrible, I hope your animal does not go here if lost. My dog has been lost for 11 months now. My 6 year old niece, my whole family and I were so happy we had found him. When we called to go pick him him they had already given him up for adoption. I asked what were the next steps all they said and i quote "there is nothing we can do now." I am devastated we lost a family member and i have no idea if hes in a good home or if hes even okay..

I adopted a dog there and they were running a special that as long as the dog or cat was over 6 months old it was free. When I picked him up the next day he had been fixed, been given a microchip, nails were trimmed, and he was given all of his shots. This did not cost me $0. 01!! All of the employees there are absolutely amazing and love animals more than you can imagine. They are not, I repeat this they are not a kill shelter. They will keep an animal there for two or three years until it's adopted. The only reason they would put down an animal is if it is a danger to itself or humans. This is the best place to adopt your fur baby and give him or her a forever home!

I made the decision to lay my cat to sleep yesterd...

I made the decision to lay my cat to sleep yesterday due to illness and old age. The staff was very patient and compassionate. It is not an easy job to be around this level of deep sadness on a regular basis, and I want to say thank you to the staff for being kind.

I want to describe the experience for owners who have to make this decision:

During the pandemic, we park on the clinic side in the designated curb-side appointment parking spaces (orange signs). You call the number they post on the parking sign to let them know you've arrived. They bring paperwork to your car for you to sign. For Clark County cat euthanasia the cost is $10.

You have the opportunity to spend the last moments together in the Comfort Room where they can roam freely and you have privacy to say your final goodbye. The room has an ambient setting with dim light, soft music, a waterfall, treats, tissues, a hand washing sink and a display case of cremation packages from pet cremation companies they work with (La Paloma Pet Cremation and Craig Road Pet Cemetery).

When you are ready, you knock on a door opposite from the entrance of the Comfort Room. A staff member will take your pet from you, and you will be escorted to wait in the lobby. It felt like a 5-10 minute wait, but I'm not too sure. There are restrooms in the lobby if you need time alone.

Unfortunately, you cannot be beside them during the euthanasia. The euthanasia does not include a catheter or sedation. They find a vein, give an injection, and they sleep within 30 seconds. There are youtube videos of the same method if you need to mentally prepare yourself. The injection is a seizure medicine which in high doses will stop brain and heart function. It is unsettling to see, but it is painless for them.

After the euthanasia, you have the option to visit your pet's body one last time in private. They escort you back into the comfort room from the lobby, where they have now laid your pet on a table wrapped in a blanket. When you have finished your final viewing, you may exit toward the lobby on your own.

I chose La Paloma Pet Crematory and the prices start from around $100 and up. You will pay that company when you organize your pet's pick up from the Animal Foundation. The Animal Foundation has a 10 day holding period.

I hope this helps anyone who has to make this difficult decision for their pets.

I had to euthanize my best friend Loki there today. They were helpful & compassionate.

Amy Cosner: They have this policy in effect, because when it is all said and done, they are still, at this time, a "kill" shelter. They want an appt to evaluate whether the animal can be placed, or whether there is a chance it will be killed at their facility. If you show up in person, they are more than "happy" to provide you with a list of organizations that can take your pet.

They are working on becoming a 100% no kill facility, but that will be after the expansion. There is only so much money to stretch for all animals there....anywhere. They want appts. to help save more animals lives.

one thing I can say about the animal foundation is...

one thing I can say about the animal foundation is that they're amazing people. friendly, nice, awesome, cool, interesting, ect.. really I could just keep going but I adopted a puppy there, well, 8 years old but she's an angel to my wife and I. we've been trying to adopt cats for awhile but her and I just haven't come to a decision we can both agree on. if there was a more organized system... now wait don't get me wrong because they're amazing, truly are. I don't know the system but besides kitten separation from adult cats there doesn't seem to be any. i don't think that its right to organize cats by amount of fluff and fur they have but maybe by color? maybe by the current health. when i went in to look at them there were sick cats between healthy cats and i just think that might be a little bad... we wouldn't want a room full of sick cats then the kittens get sick.. i wish there was a suggestion box for customers and if there is already then more readily available... I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking it... i also have something with the dogs too. i understand theres a wall between two dogs but last time i was there i saw one dog try to bite another because his paw was through the the fence. now this wouldn't be a problem with small dogs but the ones that stand up tall it is. can we raise the board a little higher please? i know it may be a little more thought but what about separating the big dogs and small dogs? they just seem to be thrown into wherever theres space. if they did that then there wouldn't need to be tall walls everywhere, just where the tall ones are... if yall see this please respond on other ideas please.

This is just my experience in this place. We found a dog we wanted to adopt and we went through the paperwork process then the day we were supposed to pick up the actual owner showed up and was returned to then promptly. So they showed us another dog same thing happened and just frustrated with the experince. This is just my own I heard and seen people get their dogs and were happy about it.

BAD EXPERIENCE FOR MILITARY VET FAMILY. NOT RECOMMENDED!

I chose this shelter because they advertise and honor military discount which is great. The shelter is also clean and top notch and I feel like they try to make their animals as comfortable as possible in this place. There also appears to be a pretty large selection of a variety of pets. I am not pleased because they wasted my valuable time. They advertised a particular puppy as adoptable and therefore I got my daughter's hopes up for a pet. We showed up at opening hour and went thru the procedures, and waited while they went and got the puppy. After eagerly anticipating some time with this potential pet, the manager comes out and states that the animal is no longer available because the original owner is considering taking the animal back and they put the ad online by mistake. So I wasted my morning and now am having to console my daughter that there will be no puppy visit today based on The Animal Foundation's website ineptitude. If you are considering an adoption from this place, adopter beware! Either make sure they are not going to lie to you and waste your time, or keep your (and your kids) expectation level very low.

This is a kill shelter and what's worse is the lousy low life staff will threaten to kill your animal. This happened to me when I called to see if they had a cat of mine. They did and proceeded to say if I didn't immediately give them a couple of hundred bucks my cat would be killed.

I took my 5 month old puppy in at the end of October for her first set of shots. I asked multiple times if my paying covered everything and that I wouldn t have to pay any additional fees for vaccines on the next visit. I took her in today for her second set and was told I owed $30. Staff miscommunication here is absolutely horrible. The only ones who seem to know what they re doing are the ones administering the vaccines. I will not be going back.

I only went into cat trailer and the staff was really nice and helpful. They answered all my questions. I was able to adopt my beautiful girl Lucy (the all gray kitty) and she is great. Really healthy and well taken care of while in the shelter from what I can tell. I would adopt from them again.

Cause they save our pets. But not enough customer service tech. If you need to ask questions, there is no one for information. I know that there where 12 same kind of dog like the one I had lost, but no one could tell me if they where adopted out & any status on them what so ever. So if my pet was there I just got to be praying I get him back

We adopted our loving puppy Benson from this shelter. He has been the light of our life. When you come here please dont expect excellent customer service or a smile. When I went to the adoption booth to ask about how to adopt Benson, they automatically assumed i wanted to put him away and asked if i dont like him. When I told the young woman that I wanted to adopt him she rolled her eyes and sat at the computer to proceed with the adoption. Then she grabbed the leash from me rudely and gave him to someone else. I asked what was going on upset that she took him and she said you cant take him today he needs to be neutered. That would have been nice to know before she snatched the leash from my hand. The people who run the adoptions are young and have a horrible attitude. Although I cant be mad at them because I found my adorable Black lab mixed Benson. He has been the smartest and playful dog that I have ever owned.

Adopted an abandoned 2-year-old Calico male!

Adopted an abandoned 2-year-old Calico male!
1) Animals should be already spayed/neutered, healthy, and ready to go.
2) All animals should be taken for exercise/walks/playtime instead of feeling like prisoners constantly in a cage where they can't even move or stretch around.
They have feelings like we do and should "feel" safe and thankful they're indoors as well as respected too.

About The Animal Foundation

The Animal Foundation is a non-profit organization located in Las Vegas, Nevada. It is the largest animal shelter in the state and has been serving the community since 1978. The foundation's mission is to save the lives of all healthy and treatable animals in the Las Vegas Valley.

The Animal Foundation provides a wide range of services to help animals and pet owners alike. One of their primary services is pet adoption. They have a large selection of dogs, cats, rabbits, and other small animals available for adoption at any given time. All pets are spayed or neutered before they are adopted out to ensure that they do not contribute to overpopulation.

In addition to pet adoption, The Animal Foundation also offers lost and found services for pets. If you have lost your pet or found a stray animal, you can bring them to The Animal Foundation where they will be scanned for microchips and checked against their database of lost pets.

Another important service provided by The Animal Foundation is their low-cost veterinary clinic. They offer affordable vaccinations, spay/neuter surgeries, dental cleanings, and other basic medical care for pets. This helps ensure that all pets in the community receive proper medical attention regardless of their owner's financial situation.

The foundation also has an active volunteer program where members of the community can donate their time to help care for animals at the shelter or assist with events and fundraisers throughout the year.

One unique aspect of The Animal Foundation is its commitment to saving all healthy and treatable animals in its care. This means that even if an animal requires extensive medical treatment or behavioral rehabilitation before it can be adopted out, The Animal Foundation will provide whatever resources are necessary to give that animal a second chance at finding a loving home.

Overall, The Animal Foundation plays an essential role in promoting responsible pet ownership while providing critical support services for both pets and owners alike within Las Vegas' communities. Their dedication towards improving animal welfare through various programs makes them one-of-a-kind organizations committed towards making this world better place one paw at a time!
