Location and decor is beautiful. The service was really slow. Food and drinks were on par.

Rude staff at breakfast buffet, unwelcoming atmosphere, nog understanding the concept of paid for SAVING food from the trash bin. Well, they Will understand this review

Very noise at nights...also you hear from other rooms flush toilets and running water......bad included breakfast...make sure to ask if anything you order at breakfast it is or it is not included because a charge for 1 egg omelette is about 8 USD...I was expecting much better .!!

Old-fashioned decor, failing staff who cannot remember orders and charge high prices for that ... not done !!

This hotel is currently next to a construction site that will last until 2018.
It is worked there 24/7.
I and my partner could not sleep at all.
On the answer why this is not on the website told me the nice staff that no hotel in the area makes.

Nice quiet terrace close to the Leidseplein away from the tourists. Slow service, English only. No knowledge of beers. Beautiful restaurant: old glory.

Food was ok, but service not very well. We were served by multiple people, had to wave for somebody with all needs, dishes didn't come together.

Last weekend I had an overnight stay here with my husband. We had a wonderful overnight stay and have not missed out on anything!

A period hotel in the middle of a renovation to become a Hard Rock Hotel. Even with the renovation in full swing, we were greeted by a very pleasant young man, all smiles and ready to help. We arrived earlier than the website said for check in, but it wasn t a problem. He found us a room, in fact it was an upgrade, so bonus. Our view was over the canal and nice it was.

The food in the restaurant was not to our liking, which was a shame as it was very well presented. But the breakfast was very good, plenty of options, plenty to choose from and go back for more. As in stock up for a days walking.

Good location if you are happy to walk around, but it s not the town center. So look before you book.

Staff were very nice and helpful, and as the hotel is in the throws of changing to a Hard Rock. I hope it does not become a rock monster and still has all the charm from its previous years. I doubt it though.

We stayed in this hotel twice this month, and I highly recommend it to everyone traveling to Amsterdam. It's in one of the best locations in the city and within walking distance to everything. Its surround by bars and restaurants, however, it's very quite in the room. I did not hear a single sound coming from the outside or a next door room (the hotel was full). We got a nice room (#409) with a balcony facing a canal. Rooms which are on the forth floor have a balcony (FYI).:) I would like to thank the hotel management for accommodating us in the same room as we requested.

Look forward to staying in the hotel next time I am in Amsterdam.

Good location in the heart of Amsterdam. Like almost all hotels in the center of the city quite expensive. Our room was stylish, a bit dark but nice, very modern bathroom. Everything was great. The breakfast was ok, measured by the price and in comparison to other good hotels you can expect more. For us no repeat offenders.

Remains a beautiful hotel .. rooms are on the small side.

Comfortable beds, clean, you could hear the wooden floor of the upper floor crunching but nothing too annoying, maybe prices a little above average, strategically located, the metro and boats right in front.

Very clean room, friendly staff, good amenities. Worked well for a business trip. Great location central to shops and restaurants.

Had drinks in the bar while waiting for a nearby canal cruise. Drinks were processed as you would expect in Amsterdam, atmosphere was relaxed.

The hotel restaurant is very art deco. We eat a brasserie cuisine very correct.

Beautiful place, but expensive, no Dutch-speaking staff, and staff was dressed in shabbies! Do not expect on such a beautiful occasion.

They have "rock and rolled" this beautiful old building's rooms not for the better, though still well appointed.

Extremely friendly staff and lovely atmosphere, only let down was the double bed was just 2 singles pushed together!

Sensational Art Deco bar, which used to be a chapel of a church. Go and drink a Bottle of wine!

Beautiful lunch.....great service and dining experience

When we checked in in the morning we were very lucky that our room was already ready. Got a wonderful room on the fifth floor, very clean, big enough, great view from the mini balcony.
The hotel is very centrally located, you are right in the middle of the action.
Still, we heard absolutely no outside noise and slept very well. There was hardly a sound to be heard from the hotel.
Breakfast was OK too, good selection. The dining room is really pretty.
Staff was very friendly. We had a good time here.

(Restaurant review) Classic place in a magnificent building in the city center of Amsterdam. Inside the atmosphere is grand as well. And my burger was delicious. I do miss the charachter here. I wanted to see the place again after seeing it on the map of El Cafe s del Mundo in Tortoni, Buenos Aires. There you feel the spirit and history of the place which is missing in Cafe Americain, but it has the potential to be one of the most stylish places in Amsterdam.

Hotel was clean and rooms were nice, great location in the city close to plenty of transport and food options.

They even fulfilled one of my wierd requests to put a picture of Max Verstappen in my room. Rooms are very unlike other hotels- they seem individual and unique. Second time staying here, will go back again.

A classic! All small defects will be offset by spectacular surroundings and location. The hotel bar is fantastic. With a classic decoration, the space has already received hundreds of celebrities as proven by the photos. Great breakfast served in another class setting. The consierge service is impeccable.

Decent rooms, very well equipped (even with iron / board). Friendly staff and good service. The breakfast buffet costs an extra fee, but it's worth it.

Only in the hallway there was a smell of marijuana, which did not draw into the room, nor was it tragic. (Stop Amsterdam ...)

Really great hotel with a second world war ambience

Participated in a high tea on Saturday afternoon 20 October. Fortunately, the company compensated for everything because the high tea did not resemble higg tea at all. Three baguettes with cheese, salmon and meat toppings. Then a piece of dough filled with ragout and a mini cage of onion soup that was very bland in taste. The only good thing was the taarr that followed. All in all sparse and without taste and also no alternative for those who do not eat (pork) meat. They no longer see me there.

The only thing going for it was the beautiful building. Otherwise not recommended. Expensive.

Great location, breakfast is okay, very good starting point for shopping and exploring the center of Amsterdam, car rental Avis is only 500 meters away - so the surrounding area is very good and flexible

Very nice Ambiente. It's a really relaxed atmosphere in a classic bar. Futhermore everything seems to be a bit more luxury and there are some little food specials when ordering a drink. All in all it's not that expensive compared to the expectations I had when entering this Bar/Restaurant. So I recommend it!

Good position, comfortable and nice decor, noisy at night and don't go for a bit breakfast - they don't know how to keep plates warm making sure the food is cold when you eat it.

The rooms have been put up to every single detail to make you as comfortable as you can.
The building from outside looks like the sort of building you would take a picture of.
Great buffet breakfast with English and continental options.

Nice room with a wonderful bed! Good service. Minus point was the absence of toiletries such as a disposable toothbrush, hairbrush or hairnet.

The dinner was excellent and the service excellent we are very spoiled

Very well positioned for sightseeing and evening entertainment. Hotel nice, no walk in shower. Lots of steps, not suitable for old or infermed. Staff all helpful, good food.
