Not the best food variety, but they more than make up for it in choices of beer. From lambics, to sours, to hop bombs: they have it all. Great atmosphere, nice service. Knowledgeable wait staff compared to other beer bars (cough, cough, biercraft).

Not an exceptional place but decent enough for a drink and a bite. A group of 6 of us went on a Tuesday evening after work and had to wait 15 minutes for the downstairs to open before we could even get a drink. No table service downstairs which was a bit inconvenient when trying to maneuver around the big tables and benches. (Meant everyone had to get up just to place a drink order)

From one of my favorite spots to my least favorite.
I took my friends there last wednesday around 9pm, the host was extremely rude and didn't accommodate us coz "there was no room", while there was actually plenty of room.
I don't get why. there were 6 of us, we were polite and friendly... I wonder if we didn't look cool enough for the place.
Disappointed :(
Anyway, that host should get fired.

Great everything; food, place, etc. The only thing that we noticed is that the place was 100% busy and there wasn't enough staff to really keep up fine. They were hustling like pros but still too much.

Love this spot and have for years, the beer selection is all ways killer with a wide variety of styles, they may not all be to your taste but there is a delicious adventure to be had here. The food is always great weather its brunch or dinner too.

After my first visit, I'm left feeling that the only reason to return would be the large selection of beer. The food left something to be desired for sure. Had a burger, and while the portion of fries was excellent, and the coleslaw delicious, the burger itself was lacking. Had to get a flight of beer, and it was truly exceptional. Choices available were almost overwhelming, but I managed :) it's absolutely what bumps this from a 3 star to a 4 star review. Atmosphere is nice. Spacious, nice, and not overly loud, but unless you like beer, you should check out somewhere else.

Good craft beer selection, layout isn't too crowded but it does get loud when it's busy, small street side seating, 2 levels, and simple decor.
Typical prices for that area and style. Food was pretty good. I had the tofu ginger stirfry. It had 3 pieces of tofu and I was still a little hungry when I was done. However, the lava cake dessert was amazing. It was delicious and almost a meal.

Great selection of beers but not cheap and a little way off the beaten track if taking transit.
Its a busy bustling bar with rows of benches and tables regimentally set out in lines, but worth making the trip occasionally.

Beer beer beer! Great taps from local breweries and beyond. The food is no joke either. I'm a fan of the burger with the works, and the fries (with homemade ketchup and infused vinegar)

Wonderful little hidden gem on the outskirts of Gastown. Great selection of local and imported beer, good menu selections, and fast and friendly service. Nice mix of heritage and eclectic decor round out the warm atmosphere here, great for small groups or a meetup with friends.

With a large beer selection consisting of some great local craft beers as well as some fantastic options from around the world this is an excellent option for anyone who enjoys a good pint. The food is delicious and for those who are not large on beer there is wine, cider, and other beverages as well.

This place holds up to the hype. A must visit while in the area. Beer selection is amazing. Go for the flight. It will give you the opportunity to try many different flavors. The fries were delicious as were the chicken wings. A unique way to serve them in a delicious sweet vinegar sauce. Not what i would normally do or how they are made in the south but delicious non the less. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Place was spacious and welcoming. If you like beer, good cookin and a warm environment, do visit.

Great place to hang out with friends downtown. Quality and taste of the food is great but not much selection from the menu downstairs. The veggie Burger is fantastic!

Seats are a bit uncomfortable after a while, but I would go again!

Recommend to try!

Absolutely fantastic food and drinks no matter your preference I had the chicken wings and a veggie burger and I was blown away by the great taste and termendous value. Too top it off the the amounts of Kraft beers available are stupendous.

Good food, great service and a decent selection of beers. The area is underrated making this a great starting location to a bigger night. Get a reservation if you can because there's often a queue.

Great selection of beers here! The food menu has a lot of care put into it and the food is quite good. I got the fries, and the vinegar that it comes with made it well worth it! It does get quite dim at nights though! So don't expect midnight book clubs here!

Extensive beer menu. Haven t tried the food.

Extensive beer menu. Haven t tried the food.
Was a little bit confusing as on our first visit we were told that there is a at least 30min waiting time to be seated - even though half the bar was empty and didn t seem to be reserved (no signs).

Alibi has become a Vancouver institution and it still is. An extensive local beer selection, chilled out atmosphere in any weather and exquisite seasonal menu with local fresh ingredients sourced from as close to home as possible. The reason I give this place 3 stars is their burger. It used to be one of the best in Vancouver... freshly ground chuck cooked medium rare still allowing the juices to roam free. I was told on a recent visit that they were no longer allowed to serve burgers as requested by the customer as the food inspector had called them up on this. In no first class food city is this EVER an acceptable reason to improperly cook a burger...and for this reason Vancouver will continue to rate lower than many internationally.
Without allowing chuck ground on site to be cooked to the customer s desired level, the food scene in Vancouver will never come close to competing with a city like Miami or New York.
It is indeed a shame that this had to come out from such an establishment as Alibi, but it is essential that these kind of places work together and rise up against this tyranny of monotonous overcooked burgers that is plaguing the city of Vancouver and many other similar over-paranoid cities around the world.

A cool spot for craft beers and eats. It's a short food menu with nice burgers/sandwiches, and a fresh sheet with special salads and plates.

Food was good and the beer selection is really extensive and excellent.

Only two drawbacks...we didn't have the most attentive server (glasses often empty and a long wait for the bill) and it's NOISY in there!

Pro tip - downstairs is cool and casual with a neat walk up bar.

Had a great experience getting a drink at the bar! Ellen was a great bartender! Very personable and knowledgeable about the beers on tap. She made the experience great. If your looking for a large variety of beer on tap and a good atmosphere try this place out!

Beautiful simple but inspired inexpensive menu, great beer selection and an eclectic atmosphere.
A local gem, well worth the (very) short walk out of Gastown. (Sorry locals, this place is too good not to share.)

A massive selection of rotating craft beers. If you're not a beer person they also serve a few wines and cocktails. Knowledgeable staff. Delicious food. And they have this incredible dessert. Chocolate souffle, brownie, cookie crumble and a scoop of bourbon cheesecake ice cream. Soo effing good. Made in house.

My first time to Vancouver and Alibi came highly recommended so I stopped in and Sat at the bar. I went for a flight of local ipa's and a Belgian blond picked by my bartender along with the warm salad. Both beers and food were incredible as well as the vibe so went back last night. Different bartender same great experience.

Place has great atmosphere, drinks were great and great prices. honestly they had a huge selection. It was a little hard to find but worth the drive. Another thing was that it is definitely in a shady part of town. And I'm no stranger to shady but it was weird to say the least. Aside from that there are no complaints about this place. Loved their dark beer selection. A little out of the way but this was a great little beer joint. Stop by if you're on a personal beer tour. You won't be disappointed.

A pleasant suprise for us was the Alibi Room as we were looking for a place to have drink and a small bite to eat. Inside it was very crowded and loud but fortunately we got a table on the (tiny) terrace in front. Alibi has amazing selection of beers which changes a lot. The salads we had were great and all other food on the menu was reasonably priced too.
This is a great place for a beer or two but perhaps too loud for dinner. We might come back though to try some more beer!

The reservation system is smooth and the alibi room staff contacted me quickly. They were able to accommodate a large group of us on a Friday night! Lots of pay parking around the place. The food was great and they had a lot of beer selection. The service was great and there are also trains that will pass by occasionally.

Overall a really cool place and definitely recommend!

Cut off? Understandable.

Cut off? Understandable.
Last Call? Understandable.
No room? Understandable.

But to not be seated on a Wednesday when the restaurant was below 30% capacity continues to baffle me. This past Wednesday I arrived along with 11 of my work colleagues (nicely dress from an office job) just to be turned around and sent on my way. The reason you ask? Simply put, it was due to our group being too large to be seated. "Serving a group as large as [your's] would pose too large of a logistical challenge for the servers." The polite way of saying "we don't want to serve you." I won't go so far as to say that this was an act of racial discrimination towards a multi-cultural group of individuals but I am sure you can come to the correct understanding.

I can comfortably say this will be my first and last experience with the Alibi Room, and I highly recommend you avoid the trek out there as there is no need to make the journey just to be refused on the grounds of your group being too large.
