One of my favourite local haunts! Exceptional beer selection and great service. There is often a wait in the evening to get in, the food is 4/5 - it s pretty good most of the time, and they open at 5pm on weeknights. They also do weekend brunch and take reservations (for up to 10 people with 48 hours+ notice). Upping to food game and extending the hours would bump it up to a five out of five for me. All that said, this is the place to go for good beer, communal ambience, and positive Gastown vibes!

Great food options and an amazing selection of beer- if you want to try a number of different beers- order the flights. The staff are knowledgeable about the beer selection and are very attentive. Different seating options- bar, comfy chairs, booths or tables. Cool ambiance for any occasion.

Love getting flights of beer here. Always many to choose from. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Try their burgers! They are all tasty. Check either online or call to see how busy they are before going as there is a long line up and wait during peak times.

IGNORE THE WEBSITE WHEN IT SAYS "We only take a couple of reservations per evening; we leave most of our seats open". Make a booking unless you want to wait nearly 2 hours while other people walk straight in.

Food was good and staff are nice but the experience was somewhat diminished by the 1hr 45 min wait...

We didn't book as the website suggested it only took a few bookings and most tables were reserved for walk-ins. We were told half an hour for a table. We waited a little longer than that before they called our name and during our wait LOTS of people, who had obviously booked, went straight in.
They took use to a bar section and told us a table would be ready shortly. But we were at this bar table for as long as we were waiting outside. We were asked twice if we wanted to order food, but as the bar is right by the front door (with people constantly walking past and a cold draft) and being told we would have a table, we waited to order.

It had been nearly 2 hrs by the time we got a table and our food. If we had known the wait would be over triple the expected time we would have gone elsewhere. Had we known they actually took more than a few bookings, we would of actually booked! Very frustrating!

A long time Vancouver favorite and always the first place I think of when going for drinks in Gastown. Great selection of beer and good food to boot. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly.

I've lived in the neighborhood for over 4 years now, so perhaps I'm a bit biased, but I love the alibi room. There is little turnover of staff (from what I can tell as a patron), so this feels like a place where those who work there are treated well. But most importantly, I always, without fail, find a new beer I didn't know I wanted. I prefer sours and stouts, and they always have a superb selection of these. By offering a few adjectives (ie fruity, no hops, a bit bubbly) the staff always select a new beer for me that I fall in love with.
I had a boulvardier (cocktain) the other night and I was floored once again by my love for the alibi room: not only good beer, but good cocktails too. Their veggie burger is satisfying, but the fries are meh. (Oh and I love the vibe; dark but well lit, high ceilings but cozy, noisy but intimate)
Ultimately, I bring all dates, all friends, all family members here when we want a great drink and some silly conversation.

Amazing selection of beers. I've also had great service every time I go here and enjoy the atmosphere in the restaurant. Food selection isn't amazing, but the star of the show is definitely the quality and quantity of beers they have on tap.

Nice place at the far end of gastown. The only have a small outdoor seating area that can only accommodate parties of 2. They have a large selection of beers of all varieties from lagers to the darkest ales. Food was not available when we went and we werent given a reason why so that was disappointing. The place is pretty big as it has a below ground bar as well.

We were there around lunch time on a Sunday, it was quite busy but we got a table without a wait. A great selection of beers and taster flight trays available. We didn't try the food but what was being served around us looked good

Busy place. We were seated right away for Sunday brunch. Waiter was friendly, but the food took a while and was cold once it arrived. I'd say the brunch was mediocre at best AF not good value for money (small arcing sizes). There too many other great places in the sea to eat at for me to go back here given the quality of the food.

Exceptional! Alibi Room has been a favourite in our downtown Vancouver rotation for the last few years, but recently their COVID-19 protocols have really helped them stand out. Contact tracing and hand sanitizer on entry. Open air inside and outside. Serious sanitization after every table, and restrooms sanitized every 30 mins religiously. Tables very well spaced. I've always loved these guys, but they're really doing things right as we adjust to these strange new times, and I appreciate them all the more for it.

Food was good, however, it was busy and there was no room upstairs so we went downstairs to the self service bar part. The bar tender was good, very knowledgable, friendly, helpful etc. The host could have been more polite and there needs to be more food selection (barley anything).

Menu is hard to read, it looks like someone just wrote it out in pencil. If you are looking for a place to have a beer with friends, this is a good place. If you are looking to have good food and good beer with friends I wouldn't recommend this place. My friends and I agreed that we would go back, but not anytime soon and we wouldn't necessarily recommend this place to anyone.

This place is so fun and a great spot for drinks! If you're a beer lover, this place is a must-visit. The tap list is phenomenal, and the ambiance just makes it better. All the bartenders I've interacted with have been a pleasure.

My only complaint is how long it takes to get a seat sometimes!

You will feel like you are going in the wrong direction, or like you are definitely not about to stumble on a cool spot. But hey! That means you re almost there.

This was a really cool spot with good food and beer. They do flights and the variety they offer is impressive. The service was pretty good but could ve have been prompter at times.

Get there early - it s fills up fast.

This place is one of my favourites to grab a beer! They have always changing taps so you can't get bored. Food is also A+ and I love the brunch - if you can get a patio seat on a sunny day, you are doing awesome!

Beware! They don't seat parties greater than 10... even on an empty Wednesday night.

My colleagues and I attempted to get into Alibi Room after a company outing. We were greeted by a staff member at the door and asked if we could be seated for a group of 12. The pub was not even close to 20% capacity. We were told that they do not seat parties greater than 10. We then asked to split our group into two groups of 6. We were there to have a few drinks and call it a night. A manager or another staff member told us that they didn't want to seat us as a split group because we would converse between the tables, causing additional traffic. Anyone who has been to Alibi, knows that the tables are rather long. There was plenty of room to seat us. We asked if they had any solutions for us, but they just said, "no, sorry, you can try Portside"
Ultimately, they told us they could not serve us.

I don't know what pub / restaurant would refuse business at 9pm on a 20% capacity Wednesday night. Maybe we weren't dressed appropriately (we had come from an office job....). But I can assure you, the reason for refusal would have baffled the majority of reviewers here.

Alibi Room has lost 12 patrons.

Loooong wait. Don't tell me 15 mins when it's an hour. The beers are a-mazing, but the menu is impossible (half the listings are unavailable). Food was okay. Fries were really good but not really special. I was expecting more from the pork belly sandwich so a bit disappointed there.

Great list of beer, cider, etc. Really helpful bartender and great atmosphere. Not a "go out get wasted" place, more a sit at the bar or a table with friends and enjoy good drafts, try something new kind of place.
