It's the type of reataurant/bar my grandmother might have loved. I was hoping for more of a modern menu, not just the usual fried steak/scoop of tuna or cottage cheese entree-salad type of thing. They had a decent bottled craft beer selection.

I went to the Thayer Brunch. The dining room is extravagant and overlooks the beautiful Hudson River. The staff is polite and works hard to help you. The food is a bit overpriced, but is the best food for about a 40 mile radius.

It's a lovely historic hotel. A shame someone was staying in the Eisenhower Presidential suite (one can see why I'd have liked to take a peek!). The rooms are spacious and comfortable... the motion-sensing lighting is a pain in the keester . The plumbing in the larger property sounds like a sleeping monster with indigestion, but that's part of the charm. (I do suggest using the handy earplugs provided! For real! Sleepytime tea and earplugs! Clever! And useful!)

The view and the food are really nice, but we came here for Easter Brunch and I don t know if I d come again for an event like that. Everyone was seated at exactly the same time, which made for really long lines for all the food. The lines also didn t move very fast. I waited 20 minutes behind two women who had never seen oysters in there lives. They needed to marvel at the novelty of it all while arranging said oysters on their plates. This was pretty common among a lot of people there.

A big disappointment. Perhaps it was because we had really high hopes.... Afterall, four presidents have stayed here. First the good: the staff was very polite, the rooms seem very clean, they offer ice water and ice lemon water in the lobby, they have great water pressure in the shower, and they put in some effort into keeping up the grounds as there are lots of flowers. Beyond that, it was a let down. We checked in on a Sunday and by Monday night, the same dirty glasses were in our hallway that greeted us on our arrival.
The arm chairs in the lobby are thread bare.
The rugs need cleaning.
There are no nightstands in the room, so there is no convenient place to charge one's phone.
I booked a king-size room, but it only came with one chair--It isn't as if there wasn't enough room to put another chair.
The free coffee that they include for $14.99 daily charge had a lot of coffee grounds in the bottom of it.
Although the bed looks very comfortable, I found it lacking and I woke with a sore back.

If you're looking for a good brunch with a GREAT view and setting all year round, go at least once. The food is descent l, not amazing (they could ramp it up a little and make it a 5 star plus buffet), and the hotel is historic.

My friend and I took part in The high tea at the hotel. We had a lovely time. Fresh sandwiches, scones, fresh fruit and madeleines were on the table upon our arrival. In addition, four tea options were provided on the table. Between the two of us, we ate everything! There is a supplemental menu if one would like to order additional food.
Reservations are required.

Happy hour overlooking the Hudson River Valley at the Zulu Time lounge is a wonderful experience. We love stopping there on Friday's before an Army game for the ambience and good food and drinks.

I stayed in this hotel for one night with my family and do not recommend it. We had the Do Not Disturb sign at all times, but the cleaning person went in anyway when we were gone. Not sure how, but the money (over $100!) in my wallet went missing and the only time I left my purse unattended was for 45min when we went for breakfast. The cleaning person claims she changed the towels, which was NOT the case and she had no right to break our privacy with the sign. Hotel management claims no fault, but in this case we are right. Beware and take good care of your items. The hotel will not be on your side!

Nice views, but unless your just going for the buffet guess its ok, but if your going to order a la cart, thats different, ordered the baked chicken, it was so dry that even if i soaked it I would still choke. My husband ordered the filet mignon which was good i ate some of his. Wait staff friendly.

I had a wonderful stay in a suite at the Thayer last week. Very attentive staff, who accommodated a late check-in, among other needs. Great food on premises, gorgeous views, and a very helpful concierge who made solid recommendations on things to do in the area. Already planning another getaway soon!

Enjoyed our stay! Professional staff, clean room, and enjoyed the rooftop bar "Zulu time." I accidentally left my phone charger in the room, staff retrieved it and returned it to me promptly. Thank you!

Stayed at the Thayer a couple of years ago and enjoyed it so much we decided to just visit the grounds again while in the area. When we stayed the weather wasn't very cooperative, so on a beautiful day we explored the grounds again, they are meticulous. Although coronavirus prevents cocktails at the beautiful bar in the restaurant or dining in, it was still a pleasure to see the magnificent interior. Pick up a postcard to mail to friends and family to share the beauty and mail right from thier own postal code. Some older pics from our stay.

This was my first visit to west point for my brother in law's wedding. The west point campus is absolutely gorgeous and I could not be happier with the service and accommodations of Thayer Hotel. Aside from being a beautiful historic building, the rooms are nice and well kept, spacious and modern. The staff is 5 star. Every employee from the valet to the cleaning staff have been more than helpful, pleasant and polite. It's worth noting that I stayed for two nights with my wife and three children (3yrs, 2yrs and 11 months) As far as a hotel stay I really couldn't be more pleased. When you take into consideration the location, history, the fact that it is an active military Academy/base and the breathtaking scenery surrounding, it is truly a unique and magnificent hotel. I will not soon forget the experience I've had at the Thayer Hotel and would encourage anyone visiting west point to consider the Thayer for an upstanding stay

Rooms are OK but definitely not worth the price you pay for them. Nothing special just your typical room. The Sunday brunch is fantastic. The Zulu Time bar is a great place to hang out but the service could use some improvement and the food is just ok.

Not a family friendly environment. I gather it's owned by previous graduates and the reunion crew of 67 was there. You don't get your monies worth. Not worth the hype between scratchy towels, key cards not working, chipped tiles in the bathroom and full blown partying on the second floor Zulu lounge until 2 am which you can hear from the fifth floor. It's a "prestige" thing to stay there and many of the "older people" we're not pleased to see children, even if well behaved. The staff is wonderful however, very short staffed. For adequate service, you really need more people. The food was average at best. We food the local eateries to be great. The best thing about the hotel was the view but you can enjoy the view from West Point itself!
