My little girl was born sick we have been going to tx children's for almost 11 yrs , here lately she has been sick again and she is getting ready for surgery. Usually the staff at pediatric surgery are great but here lately I'm lucky for a phone call back . I had to take her to the ER bc she's suffering so much having to wait for surgery they kept me their 8 hours and did nothing except an xray I was so disappointed, that was Tuesday of last week 10/18/16 I had to take her again bc she got sick at school on 10/24/16 so I just took her to out local hospital here in tx children's I was wowed bc I doubted their talent bc tx children's is suppose to be the best ER but they did in 2 hours what tx children's ER didn't do in 8 hours . It didn't last long but with the care they gave her she had a great day feeling better bc she hasn't felt that good in like 4 weeks since she became I'll again ...maybe the floors but I won't recommend the ER might as well take your child to your local ER . They would probably get treated better. At least they didn't tell my child well this isn't oureally problem it's surgery dept problem that broke my heart.

Words can not describe how thankful I am whit all the Doctors, Nurses and just all the stuff. I really thank everyone of you from the bottle of my heart. They really help out a lot. made every detail clear, did everything they could to fix the situation. called not only one but many experts and I know that some people would think that they are just doing their job but they are actually doing more than that! lots of support and help. Made my nightmare (having my 2 month baby sick) less stressful even when they had their own stress while going trough hurricane Harvey unable to leave the hospital and be worried about the situation with their family. God just send the right people to us. The heart center is amazing! even after discharged they have helped me out a lot.
kangaroo crew is amazing too! i have nothing but good things to say they truly care about there patients and the patients family. May God bless every single one of you. (my review also includes The Woodlands Children's Hospital)

I m very disappointed we had an emergency our 3 week old baby definitely had something wrong with her at 2:00 am we decided we should go to the emergency room because her Pediatrician isn t open until 8:00 am. The only reason we tried Texas children Is because her doctor works for the same organization. We waited for hours to the point we gave up and told the nurses we might as well go home and take her to her Doctor it s sad that we got to that point what s the point of an emergency room If you re going to wait hours pay for parking literally for nothing! Wasted our sleep time & money because I had to call in to work. I m so upset I m even thinking about finding a new pediatrician We want nothing to do with Texas Children out child is still in the same condition and we have to wait 3 more hours before we can even call her doctor because of the lack of service of this emergency room

@TexasChildrens
Texas Children s Hospital does wonderful things for kids. However, a dear friend of mine recently shared the post below on FB. Seriously? With all the worries and medical bills parents have, the Texas Medical Center is fleecing them for parking?!? This needs to stop! Post from friend: It has always sickened me that the Texas Children s Hospital parking garage owners charge parents of sick children $12-14 per day for each vehicle they park. If both parents have separate cars it can be $175 per week. This is the most asinine thing I have ever heard of. Potentially parents of a sick child could pay around $750 per month if they have a long term treatment situation. When our little Rylee was in the Egleston Children s in Atlanta, family members do not have to pay a penny to park. And mommy and daddy get their meals in the cafeteria for free!!! Thank you Atlanta!!! Rant done for now.

Worst Hospital EVER! I had the worst experience . My child had a palate repair and it was hard enough for us, but the staff and caregivers had no intention on making it any easier but rather more miserable. I wish i would have found a better hospital to care for us and help us. The nurses rarely went in to check my son and when they did it was because i had called about an hour ago for something I needed. I had to ask for my sons's IV to be removed because they hadnt even noticed it was bad and his whole foot was swollen. They didn't give but one frozen pop to help with the swelling. I had to go get ice cream for him from the store and thats how he got better. I would NOT recommend this place anymore. My siblings had been treated here in the past but theres no doubt alot has changed!

Tch DERMATOLOGY CLINIC .. is the WORST clinic within the Texas children s network.. first . They have a 4 month wait list and even if u express urgency theY could care less !!! The triage nurses have ZERO REGARD for patients or parents !!! I got 2 referrals from 2 different pediatric doctors and they still neglected to make my son a priority.. the most unprofessional and complete disregard for patients.. NEVER AGAIN!

We were transferred there for appendicitis evaluation from St. Lukes, for my daughter. We waited eight hours and were never seen. The unprofessional-ism of the Texas Children's emergency center is what really bothers me. One nurse told my husband that the ER was a "f*****ng mess" and redirected him to the lobby to wait some more without even doing anything for our daughter. I had to go complain about her pain level and rising fever three times before they finally offered tylenol. This experience was horrible and if her appendix had ruptured while waiting... My daughter was in so much pain we finally walked out and drove to another hospital down the road. They saw us in 30 mins and were great.

I got to Texas Children at 2:45am. A nurse came in seen me at 3:00am. At 4:00am my child still have not been seen by a doctor and the nurse did not come in check up on my child. I ask a doctor with the nastiest attitude to call my nurse he was rude. Then I ask a nurse to call my nurse as well around 4:08. My nursed arrived to my room at 4:11 in said they were on down time because of time change. Time change at 2:00am. They should have already had down time before I got here. My son is 6 weeks old and was born 3 weeks early #premmie. In the service is just absolutely horrible. I wish I can give y all no stars cause that s what this hospital deserve.

TCH PICU is crazy good at what they do! We're so thankful that TCH PICU was there for our child during a really rough time. The in-house Ronald McDonald House was such a blessing as an out-of-town parent. (Also, there are public washers and dryers for use. One of the general floor nurses gave us a dryer sheet and soap, too.)

One of the best hospitals that I have been to. Only problem is that they never have any urgency to get you going home. You could go for a simple checkup and be stuck there for days even for something as simple as a blood test. They need to get the ball rolling. Waited an entire day just for them to print discharge papers.

I HAVE MIXED FEELINGS ABOUT TEXAS CHILDRENS HOSPIT...

I HAVE MIXED FEELINGS ABOUT TEXAS CHILDRENS HOSPITAL. MY SON JUST HAD MAJOR HEART SURGERY AND I HAVE HAD TWO SERIOUS ISSUES SO FAR... FIRST WAS WITH ONE VERY UNPROFESSIONAL NURSE OUR FIRST NIGHT POST OP IN ICU. My son who is 7 years old was in EXTREME PAIN and this nurse refuses to give him pain meds even thought the doctors orders specifically said he could recive them on top of another pain med he was on. This nurse decides to BLATANTLY LIE and say s she is getting a pain med for my son. She administered the med and my son immediately lost all awareness of we re we were and was very upset because he didn t understand what was happening. I knew right away those weren t pain meds. I ask the nurse what she administered and what the medicine was for and she hesitantly said ADIVAN. Which is a heavy anti anxiety med. my son was not having anxiety he was in EXTREME PAIN and she felt it was ok to self diagnose him with anxiety! I then proceed to ask another nurse who I can speak to on the matter and I was sent the charge nurse. She explained there was no reason for this and apologized for the nurse. She Also states that the nurse is quote under ALOT OF STRESS this was a slap in the face for me because how is her personal stress a factor in my sons care situation? I can guarantee mine and my sons stress trumps hers... the charge nurse did speak with her and she comes back in the room with a grudge and then proceeded to ignore me and my husbands questions I asked her to stop what she was doing to my son (stripping his chest tubes) because I didn t feel comfortable with her attitude and hostility. She then calls me liar by saying she never said it was a pain med she was going to administer. I m very non confrontational so all the while I am speaking in a calm and reasonable tone. She then Runs out of the room crying as if we had done something to her! Mind you this is our fist time here at TCH. I was very upset by her behavior and I feel it is unacceptable for nurses to behave in this manner. I had very good experiences with all other nurses and staff. Surgeon dr. Imamura saved my sons life. And I am greatly appreciative of the work him and his team have done for my child. SECOND ISSUE We were moved from 15 floor cardiology on his 3rd day post op to the 10th floor neurology because they needed my sons bed for another child. We were told there were no virus\illness on the unit wich was another lie from his nurse come to find the patient next door has strep throat and many other in the unit have flu and viruses. No one once told us to take precautions on this floor and he is still here recovering from surgery. I pray my son didn t come into contact with these viruses because of his weakened immune system he is very susceptible to virus. I am waiting for family advocacy to come by our room but still no luck. In my opinion there should be better protocol on post op patients being around patients with contagious illnesses like these... I am not a confrontational person at all and I felt very upset by these issues. Again everything except these two individuals was amazing and I am happy my son doing well I am keeping him isolated in our room until we are discharged just to be on the safe side. Masks and hand sanitizer is not enough to keep him from these illnesses I feel. This is just my feed back. In no way am I trying to bash the hospital. It s an exceptional place.

Texas children's hospital

The experience in the hospital was pleasant everything went smoothly. The service that the hospital gave was good that they weren't so fast. the wait was quite long but once it reached the back everything went well. I liked how the employees were very kind to all customers and how everything went. The hospital is open for all funds.

My baby had an extended stay at Texas Childrens where she spent most of her time on the PICU floor. Though the time was very stressful for me as a mother there were many people that made our time a bit easier with excellent communication and those that just had a caring heart that was felt. These people just don t know how their caring soul and presence made a huge difference for my baby and me, I know it s a job for them however it meant a lot to me and I can t thank them enough. There are so many people I want to thank so just to name a few, first will have to be the great Dr Jacobs :) for being such a great person overall and having a great personality through it all, Demi, Jenna, Janice (nurses) and most of all Dr Spielberg and Dr Desai (spelling is wrong I m sure, IR doctor). This hospital has made its mark in my babies history and I want to thank everyone involved for being amazing

Very quick and attentive to my son when I had to take him in to the ER. They made sure I understood what was going on with him and how they were going to move forward with helping him get well BEFORE they proceeded with treatment. They were available to answer all questions no matter how many times I asked. My sons procedure was least invasive and successful. Thanks to the team of doctors and nurses at this hospital!

After waiting for almost 5 hours at UTMB, only to be told that the specialist that we had been told was with another patient actually WASN'T there and wouldn't be in until 7am IF she came in then, I took my daughter to Texas Children's. Her nurse, Alma, was amazing and so helpful in getting us in quickly. Texas Children's will ALWAYS be my first choice of hospital for my daughter. Thank you so much.

I'm giving four stars because the people in phlebotomy were great. Especially Omar!! The lady who checked us in was very helpful (finally).
BUT...everyone else we dealt with prior was rude and not at all willing to help. Especially at check-in on 1400. We did not need oncology, but I hope the parents of children who do, are treated better. Even the cafeteria staff were unpleasant.
I cannot believe that is acceptable behavior anywhere... Sick children and their parents deserve kindness and consideration.

This has been THE worst experience of my life! We ...

This has been THE worst experience of my life! We came from Cincinnati children s hospital to here for a medical life saving trial.

Let s start with my daughter has childhood cancer. Stage 4 high risk Neuroblastoma. She has a compromised Immune system. We came into the emergency Center for vomiting and dehydration. I informed the front where you check in for the emergency Center that she is immunocompromised. They still had us in a waiting room... waiting bout 30 minutes. We finally get to a room. They were polite and did all necessary tests, an ultrasound, 2 view X-ray, a COVID test and then a CT scan. But, We ended up in our very cold room in the emergency department for 11 long hours! That s a long time to be cold, uncomfortable and hungry. So many mishaps that could have been prevented. Yes, you read that right! 11 long hours! A whole shift!

I had asked for pain medicine for Callie as she had a continuous high heart rate with no fever and she would wake up roll over and cry out. An HOUR later I m asking about those meds, the nurse informs me that the doctor was going to hold off since she had a bowel movement to see if that helps relieve some pain. That s fine, if I hadn t asked AFTER her bowel movement that she was in clear pain.

After me complaining about the hours, They then want to send us up to the 7th floor temporarily until her results from the COVID test come back so we can be more comfortable. Great! But then, they already had her negative results before sending her up here for us to have to move to the BMT floor. They should have just used the rapid tests for one, they didn t know if she needed surgery and two she s a cancer patient! They didn t mention we were waiting hours for those results.

Just to top it off, The monitor for transferring patients died on the way up here. Thankfully nothing happened and she s ok.

Such an emotional and stressful roller coaster. We are then moved to BMT unit where we had an amazing nurse, but after she leaves thestaff went downhill! I assumed they would change her while I was asleep. I was wrong. Now we re doing an Unnecessary dressing and cap change that could have been prevented if they would have just changed her diaper while I was asleep.
Lazy staff! Like they let the amenities of this take over and only reason it s nice. It s big and has slot of stuff. But this place sucks

This hospital will not see you if you do not have ...

This hospital will not see you if you do not have insurance within their network. They don't care whether it is an emergency or not. If you mention that you will pay out of pocket, they will sum up all the procedure they ASSUME you will need and ask you to pay before being diagnosed or seen a doctor. I am a high risk pregnant mom, but today I was told that they won't make my appointment until I make a payment of $68,000 in full. This is illegal and no one should pay without being diagnosed to know what it is they will be treated for. This is very inhumane.

Thank God this not the only hospital in Houston.

Texas Children's is the ChickFilA of hospitals. They go above and beyond to take care of my complex care child. We drive over two hours for her specialist visits because they are just that good. Everyone we encounter, from the cleaning staff to the physicians are kind and friendly. My daughter receives top notch care from multiple specialist services. TCH is head and shoulders above every other hospital I've ever encountered.

I've been taking my kids here 1996 and I have had great experience every time. I have gone to other hospitals and they just want to write a script or blow you off. When no else can find out what's wrong I know Texas Children's hospital will get the job done. My son's pediatrician is even associated with them as well. I love Texas Children's hospital they really care about the person it's not just about making a quick buck.

The Hospitals in Austin are not advanced as Houston. We took both of my twins as soon as they were released from Austin. They told me at the Texas Childrens in Katy that my son had a tumor that was fatal to his health. They rushed him from Katy to Downtown. They saved my son. If I didn't go to get a second opinion my son would have died. I love the Dr. that my son has he is great! I also love the staff that has been there since 2012 when he was a baby! Everyone in this hospital is so nice I don't take him anywhere else!

Tried accessing their psychiatric services for my teenager. First they send you down a paper work rabbit hole. Then they tell you it will be 6 to 9 month before you can get an appointment. Wonderful hospital that saved my daughter's life. ...

Wonderful hospital that saved my daughter's life. However being stuck in the NICU for 3 months opened my eyes to how much miscommunication there was and how some nurses weren't thoughtful or kind to the parents. Everyone in NICU level 4 was nice, but getting moved to 2 was awful because they were planning and changing our daughter's care behind our backs. Charge nurse Bessie and nurse Anna were generally horrendous towards me. Anna ruined her nice going home clothes we'd been given to akind family. It neatly in the gift bag it came in, only for Anna to put it on her 3 days before her big day and get it ruined... can you say space for rent between the ears?? Like.. serious... she had a LOT of other options for everyday use. I was already emotionally distraught by the day and she strong armed me into changing out my daughter's NG Tube. And the condenscending charge nurse, Bessie, defended all these actions and stated the going home outfit wasn't included in the chart. Excuse me? The chart is useless. They threw away her first pacifier they special cut to fit around her tubes, and threw away 3 more after that. And lost her umbilical cord. Us NICU parents want keepsakes too. Parents, beware that no one looks at that chart. They use it as an excuse to do something that upsets us and when it is inluded in the chart, "oops, accidents happen." Oh, and Bessie seriously said Anna couldn't wait another 30 minutes for me to calm my emotions. I have been diagnosed with depression, anxiety, and ptsd from what me and my daughter went through. That is awful, and the nurse practitioner was angry that I went though that. Changing an NG tube is so dangerous to do even without being emotionally distraught.. the nerve.

Literally would never go back here. Dr. Sulek Was so rude and dismissive. She needs to retire if she doesn t like her job anymore. I went to the check out lady and ask to speak with the practice manager right off she knew who I had a problem with. Of course he was unavailable so I spoke to someone under him. She did nothing but waste my time talking to her the problem wasn t solved and clearly dr. Sulek will still walk around treating patients and parents ugly. Just because someone is a doctor doesn t give them an upper hand to belittle other. she needs to be handled because I m not letting this go.

My son had surgery here last 3/18/15, West tower floor 3. From the amazing and knowledgeable check in clerk (who was very thorough about the process), the insurance and HIPAA woman (who was with her trainer, also very kind), to the tech who took my toddler's vitals (who pretended my son was a superhero so he could see his muscles when taking his blood pressure) to the nurse practitioner who answered every question I had in detail and kindness.. I was so impressed. A huge special thanks to the amazing Dr. Duncan who kept my son safe and explained the procedure to us and kept us calm, to the two wonderful OR nurses who were the kindest ever to my son. The anesthesiologist was so sincere and polite, she explained in detail what was going to happen before, during and after surgery. I was also super impressed with my son's recovery nurse, Mary Jane. She was simply wonderful. I had a fabulous experience here and the whole staff was excellent, detailed and kind. It's hard to trust strangers with your child and the staff made me feel so confident and secure. I felt like my son was truly cared for, as a person, not just a number and that means the world to us. Thank you so much, Tx Children's staff.

When I am constantly hearing workers calling for other workers to help with the influx.. and stuffing clients into creative places to continue treatment.. it is time for more resources.. maybe less beautifying remodeling. shout out to the security officers that escorted us to places too far away when it was obvious we weren't going to make it there alone.

My 1and 8 months year old babygirl had inserted pieces from pillow Styrofoam in through her right nostril, meanwhile I was at work. Her dad tried his best and took most of them out, Best Babysitter Ever, 2 weeks later and turns out she still had one little piece stuck way up her little nostril. We took her to pearland and from there they transferred us to Texas Childrens Hospital, and they helped us in the best possible way that they couldve have helped a worried and desperate mom, THEY GOT IT OUT!! Blood and pus was build up in the little sponge, wait time was worth it.
So, if your little one gets something stuck in any part of her body, have faith and take him/her there.

I came in because my 6 month old had a fever of 104.3, vomiting, diarrhea and no eating. Worst mistake ever to ever come to this place we arrived at 11pm and didn't get seen by any doctor until 5am. Horrible service, dirty and they take forever to see your kid. I honestly dont think they care at all. If you have an emergency look elsewhere. Beware if you come here you will wait over 5 hours to be seen by a doctor. Worst experience ever.
