I love Ten Thousand Waves. I have never been disappointed. This place is so beautiful. Please don't change or go elsewhere.
I love Ten Thousand Waves. I have never been disappointed. This place is so beautiful. Please don't change or go elsewhere.
So relaxing. Only bad thing is got burned on shoulders because you can't put sun block on the neck down...
I have never experienced a more relaxing setting. The baths are amazing, the natural setting lends to the tranquil vibe. Wonderful staff and an all around amazing experience. A must visit!
The very best place to go to! I saw it on YouTube when searching for Japanese onsens in the US. It totally blew my mind with the amazing ambiance and exceptional services. I had to come back and did the head to toe massage which left me in heaven. I came back again for Izanami and it was delightful. I am so enamoured with this jem. I recommend it to friends and family and it's a must stop for me as I travel frequently. Next time I will definitely try the lodging! My highest regards. Arigato Godaimasu!
Fantastic Japanese style bathhouse tucked into the foothills. Make sure to go to the restaurant after your soak for an amazing meal.
I loved 10 K Waves the way it was, and the nudist communal hot tub experience was my reason for going. Unless/until they rethink this change of policy, I won't be going back either, and will tell anyone who asks not to bother, either. The 'behavior' issues they've cited are something I've never personally witnessed, although I've been there many times over the last 15 years.
Me and my husband try to go every year for our anniversary and in the past we always get two 80 min massages and soak in the bath, the massages are always shorter than the 80 min. This year we were able to save up to go in, however I could only get the 50 min massage for us and soak in the bath. First our massage therapists were running late, that is okay with me as long as I get what I paid for, nope we get rushed in, rushed out. After our massages we went to the sauna stayed in there for a bit and than went to get dressed, at that time I check the time and according to the time our massages were roughly about 30 min?? I left with this on my mind and was pretty disappointed after confirming with my husband within our massage time and the time I picked up my phone. The bath is nice and hot, the saunas are neat, the locker rooms are stocked and clean and that is huge plus. I like the place but more than likely will not be doing any more massages with them, just the bath soaks. They are pricey and I do not seem to be getting the time I paid for, which is sad.
Best spa experience, hands down! Gorgeous setting, welcoming staff and beyond skilled therapists. My wife and I can't stop talking about how lovely this place is. If you're in Santa Fe, definitely check it out!!
What can I say but wow. Sits up above santa fe in the hills. If you are looking for relaxing spa this is it. Very well done Japanese decor. Foot baths, communal hot pools, a meditation room and of course a full complement of massage therapy. This is probably not the place to bring children. Some of the women guest will go topless in the pools. They do have a low talking policy, so no shouting or horse play. This is really a place for adults. There is no cell service there so leave your phone in your locker and just Zen out. They do serve a bit of food in the reception area. My only complaint is the locker room. The showers have large shower heads that is completely relaxing. However they recently upgraded their lockers and many of them don't work and require the locker attendant to run opening stuck lockers. They really need to fix that. Overall this place is amazing and I won't dock them a star for that. Namaste!
Went on Christmas Day and it was a bit busy (wait was about an hour or so), but staff was generally pretty helpful and we had a good experience. There were some loud visitors in the spa area and so would have appreciated some employees enforcing whispering but otherwise great.
Great relaxing spa. The Japanese restaurant here has great food too.
A lovely way to enjoy Santa Fe's lovely weather in a soothing tub.
Reservations is terrible!!! When booking a reservation a very juvenile sounding female was very rude and hung up the phone in the middle of booking the reservation. Maybe she was having a bad day, however I do Not condone bad service. I am sure management would not appreciate losing customers due to ignorant reservation receptionist. Will not bother going!!!
This place is amazing! Best way to end our vacation!
I have been going here for the past 20 years and it has kept me coming back. However, I was actually very disappointed this time around. I have children of my own but I go to soak in the tubs to relax and be free without children. Bathing suits are optional in the women s tubs but I find it extremely awkward when someone else s children are present in the tubs. I don t recall children ever being in the hot tubs before but I had to go back to the locker room to put on my suit. Luckily I had one in my bag. I feel like there should be a separate family hot tub for those who bring their children if that s what you allow. But I would personally prefer a women s only tub without children. Other than that, our massages were great as usual.
Always a pleasure to visit. Whether for a quick lunch, a hot soak, or a fantastic massage. Always impeccable service in a fantastic setting. If you go in or near Santa Fe and don't hit 10,000 waves, you're cheating yourself
Ten Thousand Waves is magical. The private tubs are so peaceful. I wish it was a little less expensive so I could go more often!
This place is amazing! As a first time spa and resort visitor I found the atmosphere, services, and lodging to be most luxurious and enjoyable weekend I've ever had.
Fabulous fabulous customer service fabulous environment very clean and very calming
If you're coming to Santa Fe for a relaxing getaway or just need a breather, you have to visit Ten Thousand Waves, a Japanese-style oasis. There are traditional spa treatments, private tub areas and zen vibes. They also serve complimentary hot tea for all guests.
Ideal for singles, couples and groups. Something for everyone! I want to shout-out Sean who set us up for a lovely experience and Blake who came to the rescue with a scheduling snafu.
Their customer service is incredible and it's clear they value their client relationships for the long run. I'd highly recommend to all travelers.
Pro Tips:
- Book in advance!
- Save room for a bite to eat at the stunning restaurant and request a table on the deck
- Try the wagyu beef skewers and Panko avocado slices
- Ladies, use their amazing Dyson hairdryer in the locker room!
We had a fantastic time. We stayed overnight in the Moonlet lodge and loved the suite. The staff was very attentive and courteous. Dinner at the restaurant was awesome. The spa was incredible. Overall a excellent experience, one we plan on repeating.
Superb! Great way to relax while on vacay. And, I think they allow dogs too! In their rooms, not the pools. C'mon
We stayed two nights. And had a private bath. Was really nice. Will go back again.....
So relaxing, go for the whole nine yards.....private tubs, massage, lodging, etc etc. Great time
For being the thousand review we deserve a meal their restaurant! All jokes aside, this was an excellent meal, paired with great service, along with and exiting bidet experience. We cannot wait to go back!
Beautiful property, worth every penny, so relaxing!
The staff was polite and let you know how everything worked and gave you a short tour of where everything was. Had a very nice and relaxing atmosphere! The pools were great and the massage was amazing!
More hype than it's worth, but still a nice time in the grand bath.
Kinda pricey. Definitely caters to the Santa Fe crowd.
This spa is a must every time I am in Santa Fe. The community pool is very clean and well stocked. The sauna is hot hot hot with two heaters and there is plenty of room with two tears of benches. The dressing rooms have pretty much everything you would need and if it isn t there, the front desk has it. The restaurant on the property is absolutely delicious and the staff feels like family. Don t forget you can buy the kitchen a six pack! They appreciate it greatly.
It was awesome! Everyone there was friendly. The hot tub was great. We wanted a private on but they were all booked. Next time we go we will plan ahead.
My stay at Ten Thousand Waves was fabulous. The staff were all friendly and helpful, especially at the restaraunt. We also rented two of the private tubs - the Ofuro and the New Wave. The Ofuro was my favorite because it had showers in the room. We also got massages that were wonderfully relaxing. The only downside of the place is that theres no cell service anywhere on the property.
I received a master massage after hurting my neck snowboarding. I had been in pain for two weeks and Marie focused on my neck leaving me feeling much beget and out of pain. It was my first time and I plan on going back soon!
Great private tubs and saunas. Nice, friendly service.
Had a great relaxing time here. Intercoms we re down so they had to knock. We didn t hear the first knock so we had to rush out at end but still worth it.
Such a relaxing environment. Has fun gift shop too!
Wonderful food and environment. Staff are extremely accommodating and knowledgeable.
Tubs were enjoyable. Recommend getting a treatment if planning to be there a while.
Great place to go relax very beautiful place and scenery. I encourage everyone to check it out!!!
Baths were so relaxing. Facility very clean. Friendly staff.
Last minute decision, but one we thoroughly enjoyed. Staff was superb. Accommodations were great. If you are over 75 you might take advantage of the van. We climbed the trail and it began to thunder, lighting, and rain.
It was horrible. It started with the check in office. The lady was rude and short with me.
it was my first visit to the spa. I needed some information about the food and how to get to town. She was impatient and wanted me not to ask questions and move on.
i went on a sunday afternoon planning to stay for two nights and get a package treatment. First of all i couldn't relax in the tubs. It was noisey and people where chatting loud you could hear their conversation. These are people who come for few hours and they pay for using the tub. I came there for the total experience of R &R.
When i complained about putting signs that people speak softly and not disturb others i was told that is how the communal spas in Japan...
The biggest disappointment was the food. I was expecting better variety of salads than the wilted ones they offered in the fridge for $10 with two tiny pieces of protein. They said if you want better food you have to order. I bought the massage package for about $300. It was the worst experience i ever had. the package consisted of neck and shoulder massage foot massage and salt oil scrub. She rushed thru it to get me out on time to go to the facial. When she got to my neck she stretched me and moved my neck in a way where i got dizzy n nausea..i told her about that, she said i should have done it slower. She then proceeded to rub the salt and poured warm to hot oil ..when she was done she asked me to rush and rinse the salt because my facial was next..i did what she told me by the time i got upstairs i was dizzy and sick...i rushed upstairs to where the facial was. The girl there told me that they don't have chairs at this moment where i can sit in a chair position rather than lay down on the table..i said i cant lay down at this moment because i am feeling dizzy and sick. She said i will try to see if i can get a chair you might have to wait...i finally asked to speak to the manager. I walked around in a daze trying to figure out what happened i was feeling physically healthy and well. Now i am feeling dizzy nausea and sick. After about one hour the manager comes. i told him i asked you to split the treatment because i felt it would be intense to do all these treatments..he said we don't split these treatments..i said the massage therapist said i could . He said we can split them on the same day not the following day. His excuse was very lame and didnt make sense to me. He said we will not charge you for the facial. i said you are not charging me because i didn't get it and i am sick. To make a long story short i went to my room and was terrified of what was going on with me. I have had so many massages in the past nothing like this...i called the office to inquire what i should do if i get worse at 12 or 2 am they said call 911. I paid close to $800 for two nights stay a package spa treatment and order out food. i left feeling sick and disappointed. If you are looking for a place to get pampered, relax and get away from noise. This is not the place. Its very commercialized. They are looking for the bottom line of how much money they are making. They are not very concerned about your well being. Even though very few were kind and gentle. i m still disappointed, i had to rush home back to the bay area and visited my chiropractor to get adjusted...the lesson was DO NOT LET massage therapist touch your neck because they are not trained. I am also so disappointed because i was attracted to the name of the spa and the way its represented for a long time. It was my dream to go there and get pampered and relax. I forgot to mention that my room was so far from the spa. Each time i had to go to my room i had to go thru so many sets of stairs wearing my robe..
i hope you read this and not waste your time and money.
Unique Japanese experience. Cannot imagine this is in middle New Mexico. So impressed!
Amazing ! The staff was wonderful the environment was amazing couldn't have asked for better !
My wife and I came here to have some romance time for the evening and we absolutely loved it. Checking in was easy, everything was super clean and well-maintained, including the women's locker room. The service was excellent; manager gave us a discount b/c we had dinner at the restaurant earlier. The girl doing the check-in tour was very friendly and helpful.
The locker room did feel a little crowded at the end of the night, but didn't detract from the experience for us at all. But if you're there during an extremely busy time (like spring break), I could see how it would be frustrating. Or you could just avoid that altogether and spring for a private tub with a private changing room.
We rented a private tub (the New Wave) for 80 minutes on a Monday night and it was INCREDIBLE. What a luxurious treat!
PRO TIP: If you can, get a total outdoor tub (like New Wave or Waterfall) during the hour/hourYmedio of sunset. We had ours from 8-930, and watching the sky change thru sunset and then seeing the stars and moon come out... WOW!
We've been to Ten Thousand Waves several times with family. Highly recommend for a personal getaway or group retreat. Peaceful ambiance, excellent customer service and great package deals.
Great place to unwind. The saunas are great, the relax room is, well, relaxing. The restaurant is also very good.
Absolutely excellent! Sitting in a hot tub while it's snowing is probably my new favorite thing. 0 complaints, will visit again.
Beautiful location, great service, relaxing, and just the spa treatment that I needed!
I was fortunate to stay at Ten Thousand Waves and the spa was no doubt the highlight. I was only able to enjoy the Grand Bath but it was an incredible experience. The waters and its features were perfect. The sauna is also incredible. I can t wait to return already and check out other baths! The service was also wonderful.
My stay was amazing when we first checked in they were very friendly and nice the rooms were beautiful it felt like I was staying in a cabin and the Tub was soothing as well . Beautiful fire and foot soak near the front office . The view in the room I stayed in was amazing as well it was called Rising moon 10/10 definitely recommend going there as a little family get away it s close to Santa Fe national forest as well so you can go hiking :))
Exactly like being transported to an onsen in Japan (except amidst a bunch of white people .) So many thoughtful Japanese details. You can enjoy a communal hot tub, book a massage, or reserve a private tub. I'm sure they're all wonderful but the Waterfall tub was amazing. A large (and deep) pool under the trees and Santa Fe sky, along with a small cold plunge waterfall, and private sauna. So relaxing, such a treat! It'd been over 20 years since I'd been here last, happy to see that it's still thriving, but that also means it's quite busy and booked up. There's also lodging and a high-end izakaya that I'll have to try another time.
One of the best spas anywhere with great service and tranquility...
I went there for the community spa. The grounds were beautiful, asian inspired, and very relaxing. The community spa was okay, more variety or another spa would have been nice as it was crowded. But, I still enjoyed myself. They give you everything you will need from a robe, towels, and even shampoo and a hair dryer. For the 25 buck I paid, Ten Thousand Waves was very worth the 45 minute drive from Albuquerque. Highly recommended!
Friendly staff, unique and relaxing place to hang in the beautiful SF mountains. Nothing like it in NM!
I treated myself to a massage and an overnight stay at Ten Thousand Waves (Spring Moon) to celebrate my 70th birthday in October 2020. I lost my husband in May 2020 and this was the perfect pick-me-up to relieve my sadness. The weather was gorgeous and the staff very helpful especially Javi at the front desk. I d never been to TTW before so I needed someone to show me around and answer my questions and Javi was kind enough to be my guide. I ll definitely be returning to this wonderful oasis in the mountains of Santa Fe!!
Pricey, but such a relaxing experience. We both had the "Nose to Toes" massage, then a couple of hours in the pools and saunas - now that's the way to spend a Sunday...
Very nice, pretty space. We enjoyed our time in the wet and dry saunas, and with a couples massage.
A place that should not be missed, truly amazing and unique.
A friend and I bought one of the day spa packages and it was a wonderful and relaxing day! We started out in private SPA areas, i.e. we each had our own. My private SPA area was called Ichiban, and it was amazing! There were two tubs (same temperature, but with varying depths, 1.5' & 2') set in a small, but beautiful private Japanese style garden. One wall of the garden faced the natural Pine Forest surrounding the spa resort, so as to incorporate the "borrowed landscape" into the design of the private space. Included in this outdoor space was a daybed (behind a sliding rice paper covered door) for resting and cooling off. In an enclosed space there was a Japanese style shower, a redwood sauna, and double sinks. Included were nice quality spa toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body wash). There was a separate water closet with a deluxe Japanese bidet style toilet that does *everything* for you (wash, temperature control, dry, etc.)! After 90 minutes of SPA cycling (shower, hot tub, lounge, sauna, repeat) we went to lunch at the SPA restaurant. I had the ramen, my friend had the bento box, and we shared the coconut panna cotta with fresh berries. I would say it was all "Very good," although not "The best" (all dishes) compared to what I've experienced elsewhere. The restaurant itself was very attractive, and the views of the surrounding wooded hills and New Mexican blue sky and white puffy clouds were dreamy. After lunch we had our SPA treatments which included a head & hair treatment with warm oil, a full body massage, and a foot massage. Ronan, my therapist, was excellent! All in all our experience was outstanding due to the good service, the design of the spaces, and the ambiance that was created. I look forward to spending time at Ten Thousand Waves during future visits to Santa Fe!
When I lived in New Mexico, this was one of my favorite places to go! Loved soaking in the women's pool anytime of year and hanging out in the lodge when it was cold. Lovely place to spend a relaxing time. If you're in the Santa Fe area, I highly recommend taking a few hours to go and partake of the waters...and their great energy!
So relaxing! And the prices are great! Loved every second of it!
Nice place relaxing no birthday special though? Hmmmmmm 4 stars.
Great place to visit as a couple or alone. Wether you visit the private hot tubs or the communal pool you are guaranteed to have a relaxing and enjoyable time. If you do visit don't forget to grab some food at their restaurant Izanami.
I made a reservation for a soak at 10:15. I never received a confirmation email. I didn t have any kind of hold charge on my credit card as well. I didn t think my reservation went through. I started calling at 10::00 to confirm my reservation. No one would answer the phone. I called all the way up to my scheduled appointment hoping someone would answer. I left a message canceling my stay if I had one because no one answered the phone to confirm my appointment. I then got a call 45 minutes into my soak time saying I was being charged for half because I didn t cancel my appointment 24 hours before. I didn t want to cancel, I wanted to confirm my reservation. You should have someone taking calls earlier than 15 minutes before your first scheduled appointment. It takes 30 minutes to get to your location for me. I wasn t offered another appointment, no sorry that we didn t answer the phone and they blamed my email address for the problem of not getting the confirmation email. Terrible customer service! The lady on the phone was very unprofessional, not helpful and rude. I will not be returning if this is what customer service is provided. I also have a large group of friends that soak at locations we go to and I will encourage them to not do business with you. Very disappointed! I wouldn t even give you one star on service.
Everything has been amazing and it's only our first night!
Ok this place was nice... but maybe a little too crowded to have a legitimate relaxing spa atmosphere. It was a Sunday morning, and very difficult to get booked in. I think we called about 4 or 5 days before so make sure you book early. It is a nice place the welcome receptionist was nice, but the check out receptionist was making us feel very judged... it was awkward. Both of me and my husband s massage therapists were amazing. I am a licensed massage therapist so I feel like I am a little more difficult when people give me a massage but overall it is a nice place for relaxation, but the common areas feel a little over crowded. I don t think I would come back again, it was a nice time the first time but it wasn t my favorite place and we spent about $600 for two people 3 treatments each, which is about average for a high level spa experience. I do like that they have signs where everything is so you don t feel lost... and that they have signs for no photography In the spa area I think it s important when you are trying to relax and not worry about the outside world. I give 5 stars because for a first time spa experience this is very nice.
Called and the person I spoke with was completely rude! I ve always loved 10 thousand waves my wife and I are regulars but one bad time can really turn us off and that s what happened. We will never return all BECUASE of one bad apple. This place is nice but when you re going for a massage you don t want negative vibes or rude people. Did not appreciate this one bit.
The food at Ten Thousand Waves' restaurant is absolutely to die for with amazing service and a great aesthetic. The spa is amazing, with it's tubs, baths, and massages. It is absolutely amazing
Amazing place! Great energy! Staff was very friendly.
Beautiful place......massage not the best and very expensive.......80 minute massage for $180. Facilities are beautiful though and very upscale. Definitely worth it to get just a 25 minute service and just hang out to enjoy the spa facility included for free. The restaurant was a great experience with beautiful views and royal treatment.
We went up to have a private soak, massage & lunch. The property was beautiful. It was a wonderful experience & the staff was very nice & helpful.
I have loved this place for many years; but today I came back for my yearly visit and the kid situation is Absurd! Today I complained to staff about loud behavior of 4 kids in the sauna and it never got fixed for the whole time I was there. I even told the check out lady I was going to try another facility next time and no one cared... I guess business is too good now to care, fine! I won't come back!
This is the whole package. Spa, hotel, and restaurant wrapped into a Japanese sento experience. The people are friendly and knowledgeable from beginning to end.
The main problem I had was that it was overwhelming the first time I went. They don't explain the experience well or what to do. It's so open that it's almost confusing. The tubs were a bit hot for me, but you can jump out and lay down if it's too much.
Do your research and just relax. It certainly gives you a stress release with enough time.
The place is fabulous! The staff is incredibly involved to assure each guest has a great experience. You're going to love it!
Great soaks, hot saunas, very relaxing atmosphere. Always leave refreshed and excited to return. I wish they offered a combo season pass discount with ski santa fe
One of my favorite places in the US. Such an amazing place to stay. It s truly magical. It s at the top of my list of places to stay in Santa Fe. Everyone should have the experience of staying here.
--Overrated, expensive, disappointing and crap service--
Was already a tad disappointed by the fact that the swank surroundings only offered a single hot tub, tiny cold dip pool and wee sauna for $25/person. My husband and I have gotten used to much more complex 'aquatherapy' spas in Quebec, Spain, etc which offer multiple pools at multiple temperatures with a 'circuit' that can keep you occupied for a couple hours plus lots of places to relax.
This place is clearly all about getting people to book expensive treatments or private pools -- saw one when wandering around lost and really doesn't look worth the money as is just a big square tub in a squishy room.
I was enjoying looking at the stars while in the rickety wooded hot tub, until I went to the bathroom and noticed my sandal was filled with blood.
Went directly to the desk for help and was told to sit and wait for security. Very little concern beyond asking how it happened. Just told me to sit down and wait for security to arrive with first aid.
Was kept waiting ~~forever~~
When I finally was able to shower the blood off my foot and get dressed, the manager tried to make us pay $50 for the 10 minutes my husband and I used the communal pool. Said it wasn't the spa's fault that my foot had been sliced open and my night had been ruined and accused me of threatening him when I said I would write a review of the awful experience.
He eventually gave in and returned the driver's license he'd been holding hostage, but for a place that is obviously sucking in thousands a day in massage etc fees making someone that angry over a $50 fee for access to the pool is just stupid.
Awesome retreat to either stay at or come visit. Everyone was very nice and the facilities were spacious. I received an 80 minute massage which was truly excellent.
Very nice spa in the low mountains. Polite and generous employees. On the expensive side for my budget.
Pure heaven. Have had a lovely hot stone message and facial here. The surrounding are beautiful.
