I loved everything about this place. Dinner was very good and I think the front of house manager might have been the most polite and genuinely pleasant person I have ever interacted with lol Do WHATEVER you have to to retain him for forever. That man is literal gold.

Had one of the best massages I've ever had by Diane. The overnight accommodations were wonderful. My only complaint was the people who were staying in the casita a ways down from us left their dog alone from 11:00pm to about 3:00am. The dog barked the entire time.

I stayed for two nights and did not have a positive or zen experience. When we arrived the phones were down and we couldn't call out the entire stay and cell phone service is non-existent. We were over charged for our stay which I had to inquire about and we were overcharged for spa services which I had to ask why we were charged more. I did ultimately receive a refunded amount but the staff were rude about it and don't seem phased by the stress I endured trying to figure out the discrepancies with my bill. We did not receive enough water or breakfast food in our room for 3 people and we couldn't call anyone to ask for more. We ended up going to the store to get what we needed. This was a special occasion for my daughters and I as we were celebrating my youngest daughters college graduation. All of us were disappointed in the entire experience and would not return

Went for a message, this was to be my forth time this year. Wasn't what I have experienced before. Maybe because of all the construction or off season, but I won't be going back for a while. I still give it a high rating though.

I always have a great time at Ten Thousand Waves. The communal tub is beautiful, the setting is great, the prices for admission are reasonable, and the staff are wonderful. Izanami is also excellent.

I was highly disappointed that the chef would NOT accommodate my food allergy of lactose intolerance in Izanami. In this day and age you would think that most chefs would be understanding of this. I was told we couldn't order the chef's special dinner because the creamy rice had milk in it and they refused to substitute white plain rice - not a huge request in most people's minds. Be aware that this restaurant is NOT flexible with special requests!!

Clean, beautiful, relaxing, peaceful. We expected crowds on a Saturday, but the layout of the spa meant there was room for everybody. Could use use more space in the dressing rooms but we all made do. Highly recommended.

Wow! You have the easiest job on earth, asking about one's experiences at Ten Thousand Waves. Ten Thousand Waves is miraculous, and any of us who get to spend time there are fortunate beyond measure. Thank you for being there for all of us. Aaaahhh!, such care you give to your guests. At Ten Thousand Waves, the design, the service, the food, the Houses of the Moon (we have now stayed in four different Houses) are all glorious. Each visit, whether it is simply to hang out in Kojiro all day, rotating from tub to cold plunge to sauna to deck to cold shower, or eating at Izanami (our first but not last dining treat there) or the 90-minute Hot and Cold stones massage, or the shuttle from one location on the premises to the other, Ten Thousand Waves is a dream come true. Thank you. Oh yes, I must remember the delight of the in-room treats. I am sure I am forgetting more wonders, but thank we thank Ten Thousand Waves for those, too. We can hardly wait to get back. We have now committed to make a visit at least once each month. Thank you.

Parking could have been an issue if we came later in the evening however we found parking at the top by the spa entrance. Massage and private spa was very relaxing. Will definitely come back again. Overall this was a great experience.

Ten K Waves has gone full disneyland with the new communal tub and mandatory bathing suits policy. If you were considering coming here because a friend recommended it to you, things have changed. If you are an adult without kids, find a different place to go.

The new tub is too shallow for adults to enjoy and too hot for children. It is also too wide to enjoy conversations with other travelers. The sauna used to be a comfortable wooden interior and now it's an uncomfortable tile that will leave you branded if you accidentally touch the walls.

However much money they spent on ruining what used to be a wonderful experience, it was too much.

I might suggest to them that they make the women's tub the new communal tub with a 'no clothes allowed' in order to save the business that they have definitely lost.

We had a wonderful experience at ten thousand waves. The dog friendly room was perfect, the meal was delicious, and the spa treatments we're wonderful. The staff was very accommodating. We would definitely return!

We visited in mid December and were lucky to get a private pool for 25 minutes. It was VERY hard to park our small campervan, and both my husband and I thought the changing rooms were subpar...very cramped and not that clean. While we enjoyed the time in the Waterfall Spa, 25 minutes was more than enough time for us.

We are surprised how high the reviews were. Maybe it's just not our "thing", and if you think it's not your "thing" either, definitely don't waste time and money here.

We had a wonderful time at 10,000 Waves. It came highly recommended by the locals and I can see why. The spa had a very traditional Japanese feel, was immaculately clean, and the staff were all welcoming and professional. The temperature of sauna and hot pool were perfect. Price of admission is reasonable given the quality.

On a personal note, I left a valuable ring behind in the locker room. The staff was kind enough to search for it, locate it, and ship it to me. This gesture meant so much thank you!

I have been to the spa/bath and Izanami dining multiple times and I had a wonderful service every time. It is worth getting private bath and relax. It reminds you of ryokan in Japan. The bathroom in Izanami is a nice touch with all the Japanese equipment and enka. I love dining outside at Izanami during sunset, it has very good ambience.

The water here takes your pain away as you body dermally absorbs the minerals. It is much cleaner than Ojo Caliente. Swim suits are now required after they renovated to accommodate tourists. The private tubs have also been renovated. Instead of teak wood, everything is tiled and modern. I also love their relaxation room where you can meditate and relax and listen to seen music or nature. If you have a local driver's license, you can get s locals card and get 20% of treatments and private tubs after 5pm.

Ten thousand waves is a place where you can forget about your worries. The rooms, the food, the spa are all amazing. Surrounding you the whole time is the beautiful natural world and perfect grounds. Stay here if you can!

Spent 4 hours at the spa. The overall staff and what they have set up to do at the spa are quite good. So why only 3 stars? 1) Bob the front desk manager was too abrupt and only talked policy. He had a disturbing approach and way about him. The issue was I made a mistake and called to see if I could change the type of massage and treatment. He said I could not as it was under 24 hour window. He said if I did not do what I set up EXACTLY THE WAY THEY ENTERED IT INTO THE SCHEDULE, I WOULD BE CHARGED 50% OF THE TOTAL AMOUNT OR $200. WHOA! 2) WHEN WE ARRIVED BOB SAID HE THOUGHT I CANCELLED THE APPOINTMENT AND THERE WAS NO WAY HE COULD FIT US IN. EXCUSE ME. WHY WOULD I PAY $200 AND NOT SHOW UP. A BIT of a CONFRONTATIONAL EXCHANGE AT THE FRONT DESK AND ANOTHER STAFF MEMBER HAD TO INTERVENE AND KIETA DID AN EXCELLENT JOB. Bob did not want to take the time to address my service needs and get the staff services set up. Kieta did that. 3) a $30 charge to use community pool while I waited for my partner to get her 4 hour treatment. For what is charged for spa, one would think they could wave the community pool charge. Ouch. 4) no moisturizers and lotions in the men's changing room. Petty. 5) at 9PM went to restaurant for late dinner and sat at the counter. Nice menu but what we onserved at the counter really turned us off to eat there. One staff member had exposure of his underwear while he was prepping food and looking at that was a huge turnoff. The other staff member would occasionally take a piece of the serving such as an ingredient from the spicy cucumber salad. Gloves were worn but eating the food from the dish they are serving was disgusting. 6) SUGGESTION-- TRAIN THE STAFF ACROSS THE BOARD AND WHEN SENDING EMAIL CONFIRMING SPA APPOINTMENT, INCLUDE THE SERVICES PAID FOR INSTEAD OF JUST THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE AND TIME OF APPOINTMENT. THAT GIVES GUESTS TIME TO REVIEW AND MAKE ANY CHANGES IF INCORRECT. PROCEDURE CHANGE NEEDED. "THAT'S ALL FOLKS" AS THEY WOULD SAY WHEN A LOONIE TUNES CARTOON WAS FINISHED.

While the facilities are clean, and our therapists were attentive and professional, I was very disappointed with our overall experience. Far from tranquil, the grand bath had children splashing about with goggles underwater as if it was a regular swimming pool but what was worse was the groups of grown men speaking at full volume. Although I respectfully reminded them there is a policy of maintaining a quiet environment, they continued their boisterous banter. There was no staff member present to enforce the posted policies
The other element that was woefully inadequate was the waiting area. Between services you are required to wait in a sitting area that is steps from the loud, busy front desk with ringing phones and clicking keyboards. It is very drafty as you are seated near the front and back entrances which is not where you want to be on a snowy winter day while sitting in a damp kimono. In no way imaginable is this an environment conducive to relaxation In summary, I regret fully the $1000 we spent here for four hours of services. Besides the building style, this is far from the experience of onsen in Japan and I would not recommend it to anyone.

This was my 2nd visit to Ten Thousand Waves. Since my first visit a lot of changes have been made on the property.

The overall experience was great again. The property which is modeled after Japanese hot springs and spas in Japan is very scenic and relaxing. The hot springs are located on the same road that leads out to the ski resort. Tucked away in the trees on the mountainside, its a very quiet, scenic location, with great views of the night sky.

The pools which are filled with spring water are artificially heated, and are sulfur free. The pools have a flat bottom, so that soakers can sit anywhere in the pool without it being too deep.

The pools are surrounded by wooden Japanese style fencing with translucent frosted glass. At night time the area is very dark, with only walkways lit by little lantern shaped lights.

Community pools are topless, while private pools and mens and womens only pools are also available behind the community pools.

The Spa offers a wide selection of treatments, the lobby store has many oils, shampoos and other Japanese themed items.

The Spa and Hot Springs were very busy this trip, but it was a Friday evening. Even so, I had no problem getting checked in promptly and out to the pools. I even got to enjoy a nice sit in the Spa area, drinking some lemon grass tea next to the crackling fireplace.

I also tried the foot soaking area, which has a view of a small man made waterfall. This was something I didn't try on my first visit.

Since my first visit several changes had been made. A glassed in room had been added with reading lamps, and noise canceling headphones. This room was filled with people almost constantly while I was there, so I didnt get a chance to try it.

I spoke with staff about the recent changes, including the movement of the mens locker rooms. The locker rooms were smaller, and somewhat confusing, split into two halves. They informed me it was done to double the size of the womens locker room, and that more were being built. They told me the womens rooms will become the mens again.

The property is definitely growing. There was a price increase as well since my first visit. As of this visit the hot springs admission is $40, which is still in the range of being affordable as a stop for vacationers, but if the price were to increase anymore, I would be reluctant to stop here for a quick soak. You should expect to spend at least 2-3 hours here.

What makes this hot spring worth the $40 is that they dont charge for lockers, sandals, or towels, and include hot tea, cucumber water, lemon water, and have saunas. Hot springs in Colorado and Arkansas charge for many of these items. The admission here is more all inclusive, which I think gives a better experience over all.

This place is the ultimate escape if you want to feel like you're in a completely different country. They nailed the Zen architecture and the design of the facility is on a mountainside so each bungalow is 100% private yet open to the surrounding nature. You can be completely naked and nobody can see inside your outdoor suite. Their massages are probably the best in Santa Fe. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a long romantic weekend getaway.

Such thoughtful touches like handmade chocolates and a fine selection of teas. Love the extra soaking time you get as a guest, too! The aesthetic reminds me of the ryokans I've stayed at in Japan. Perfection!

We celebrated our anniversary by staying in Suigetsu, unwinding at the spa, and eating at Izanami. It was such a special and relaxing visit that we will always remember. I suspect we will make another trip back in the future too!

A little more commercialized than it used to be. Massages can be hit or miss, depending on your therapist. They are expensive so when you get a dud it's very disappointing. Private and women's tub are nice. Communal tub is a bit sketchy at times. The restaurant is fantastic and worth a trip just for dinner even without the spa.

Hotel room was very nice overall but there were some inconsistencies in our stay. 1. Massage was great but the therapist chatted the entire time. This really ruined my $200 massage. 2. Restaurant was not good. Had to ask for water for my son from 3 different people before it finally arrived, 30 minutes after we got there (apparently only adults count as actual customers deserving a beverage?). Food was very average. Lots of confusion about what was and was not in stock and what was vegan. Had to make multiple order substitutions and a lot of back and forth with the chef. 3. The futon in our room tipped over when you sat on it. So odd and unsafe. 4. Breakfast in the room was not so good and they didn't warn that the communal baths were closed due to pandemic, which I understand but they should disclose this information in advance.

I was given a gift certificate for Christmas and misplaced it. After giving them as much information as I had that my niece sent to me with the order number, names, etc....they were not able and willing to issue me a new one due to apparently an antiquated billing system. Very disappointed with the incompetence of 10000 waves.

I was for the first time at ten thousand waves a week ago, looking forward to a much needed relaxation time with my girlfriend. We absolutely enjoyed the private bath, how wonderful to be outside and switch between bath and private sauna and the cold plunge. Heavenly indeed. Very beautiful surrounding and friendly staff. I had a package deal. Comes with a private bath, hair treatment, massage and salt glow. The beginning two parts of my package deal felt amazing and as I was looking forward MOST to the full body massage, I was very disappointed when I didn t receive what I hoped for for that part of my package. The massage was extremely fast for my taste. I asked my therapist for a relaxing massage and he started to work on me with such fast movements, it was quite the opposite of relaxing. I asked him 3 times to slow down. He tried. It was still to fast. The therapist who did my hair treatment was extremely gentle but good pressure so I thought my massage will be the same. It s was a very unpleasant 50 minutes. Too bad I didn t know upfront which therapist does relaxing and nurturing well. I would have liked to give 5 stars but my massage experience (which in my opinion is the most important part) reduced it to a 3. I would recommend to inquire before booking a massage who is good at what. I am sure the person I had is perfect for sports massage type but not so good in a nurturing relaxing way. Next time I come I ll be better informed!

General admission includes one small hot shallow pool, sauna, and relaxation room. The pool and sauna quickly became overcrowded. When we tried to leave the women's locker room was full so I waited about 30 minutes for it to clear so I could shower and get to my locker. The setting is beautiful but the spa experience was lacking. I would not bring my children. Two women went topless even though swim suits were supposed to be required. Staff did nothing to stop them.

It was pretty and relaxing, but the options were limited for men. There is a dedicated women's area/tub, but men are limited to the communal tub. The men's locker rooms are a bit cramped and there are no curtains on the showers.

The spa and lodging is top grade. I stayed two nights here. The room is Japanese style. Very special and clean. The service is great. I will definitely come back again. I ll give seven stars to them.
The restaurant is just average. The sashimi is good. Pork rib is good. But others I ordered is just average. The service is just ok. I ll give three stars to the restaurant.
So the overall is still five star. Highly recommend the lodging and spa. Not recommend the restaurant.

Well... This was my second time at Ten Thousand Waves. It gets such rave reviews I thought I'd give it another shot. It is a beautiful place... Very japonese/
Zen-like but .... When I go to a Spa and pay top $$$, I want a relaxing, spa experience. This is anything but... It's like a zoo! You check in, get your Robe, wait in a highly trafficked Communal area with uncomfortable benches but once you get to your treatment room, you get to relax... Finally! In the communal area, it was like kiddie land! Who brings kids to a $$$ Spa? The relaxation room was anything but! People in and out which isn't such an issue except they were SO noisy! Services were good but given all the problems, way overpriced!

Amazing. Love coming here. Therapists are very well trained, I get weekly massages in Oklahoma and when I go to Houston or other places to visit family, none compare to this place. Prices are higher but you have access to quiet meditation room, sauna , hot and cold tubs and amazing view of Santa Fe Sky Which you can't get down where Santa Fe is due to light pollution.

It was the second time I visited ten thousand waves. Amazing private hot tub, great massage service, and very lovely wonderful Japanese style garden and villa brought me back after almost 4 years. Just one thing, there're several remarkable improvements in the spa area, but doesn't seem to have big improvement in the lodging area.

There were some issues with the power so some of the menu items were not available and some items were served with missing ingredients. I believe we should have been informed at the time of the order. Part of our order was never delivered, which was unfortunate.

Me and my wife personally loved it. We couldnt get a private hot tub. I'm sure you need to reserve that quite far ahead of time. Nonetheless we tried the grand bath, saunas, foot bath and it was all amazing. Photography not allowed in most of these places because obviously people are not fully clothed. What a nice find in the mountains. We had no phone signals, no 4g, just fyi. It was a nice "digital detox" though.

Highly recommended to us and occur. Perfect end to your adventures. If you want packages etc. Make sure to book in advance. We called day before were able to get late evening massages and book a private tub with plunge pool and sauna. Get there early for appointment and enjoy foot bath and/or meditation room.
