Can't recommend this spa enough! The staff was amazing, the pools were perfect, the massage was the best I've had, and the food at the Japanese restaurant on the property was just what we wanted! If possible, reserve a private tub. If you're in the area, Ten Thousand Waves is a must!

Very relaxing. The fireplace in the room was magnificent and added a lot of charm. The spa is incredibly relaxing. The houses of the moon are beautiful, and the shower in half moon was incredible.

Our stay here was the most magical experience. Every staff member went above and beyond giving us the best service imaginable. The host Liliana, and servers Brad, Gabe, and Tara at Izanami gave unparalleled service. Nancy and Sally in the office answered every question flawlessly and made sure every detail was taken care of. We can not wait to come back and have been telling everyone who will listen to us that this is the only place to stay while in Santa Fe if you are looking for a true zen getaway!!!

We love this peaceful, woodsy escape! It s so refreshing. I don t know which we loved more: the homemade granola in the mornings, the luxurious foot soak, fresh air, clean spa and rooms or the super limited cell service. Definitely check out Ten Thousand Waves if you re looking to recharge!

The staff was lovely, as was the ambiance. The entire area was clean and maintained. They provided above and beyond with amenities. I loved the options between the types of baths, co-ed or women only, or private tubs! The restaurant attached served amazing Japanese food, and the beer selection was surprisingly full of imported Japanese beer to try!

This is a beautiful place. The baths are lovely, a good variety of temperatures, and really relaxing. When we went there were multiple communal baths, and they were each different and fun to explore. We each got facials which were so relaxing. Also the restaurant is surprisingly reasonably priced for a tourist attraction in Santa Fe and the food was delicious.

I found this place by accident and was little skeptical. Japanese spa in Santa Fe? To my surprise, we had a fantastic time there and actually extended our stay.
The lodging felt very cozy and comfortable. They very carefully decorated the rooms to make it feel autentic. The spa was wonderful as well. Very clean, not too crowded tubs in beautiful Japanese style gardens. I especially loved the spa early in the morning and late in the evening (quite snd serene). We also had therapeutic and shiatsu massage and all of the pratitioners were surprisingly skilled. Highly recommended.

My partner and I came here once a decade ago, and had a fantastic experience. Our return visit the other day...less so.

The good: our treatments Thai massage for me; therapeutic massage and salt glow for him were first-rate.

The bad: last time we were here, the communal grand bath was clothing-optional, so we did not even bring swimsuits, which are now required. It would have been nice to learn this when booking (they asked if we had been here before, so this should info should have been offered). We learned too late that we could rent suits for $5. Although we both prefer going suitless, this wasn t a huge deal (had we known), except this policy change to be more family-friendly brings us to...

The ugly: There were screaming kids running around everywhere, the complete opposite of what these adults consider relaxing. An 18+ or 16+ policy seems much more appropriate. In general, the place was overcrowded and loud.

I will not be returning. Next time I m in NM, I will go back to the less-luxe, but more sedate Tamaya.

Such a great experience. Seldom do my wife and I have time for a half day at one location but I wish we had more time. A private couples bath, treatments and then sashimi at the partner restaurant next door. We will be back

My wife and I first visited 10,000 waves a few years ago and had an enjoyable experience. In February, just before the Covidpocalypse, I booked a return trip for the middle of August, coinciding with Indian Market. As they have had to close the spa, and the Market has been cancelled, we cancelled our reservation. At the time we made our reservation, their website stated that we should receive a full refund of our deposit. My reservation confirmation states the same. See my photos attached to this review. In acknowledging my cancellation, they sent an email stating that "Presently, all deposit refunds are being processed via gift certificates." The property has been unresponsive to subsequent emails and phone calls attempting to discuss the situation. They've since changed their cancellation policy on their website; I had to use web.archive.org to pull up the version that existed when I made my reservation. If they become willing to resolve this situation and honor our agreement, I will update this review.

This is easily the BEST place in the US to relax and enjoy a wonderful massage.

I have been coming here for 14 years and I always compare other places to this one in terms of ambiance and quality of massage therapists. As other reviewers have mentioned, the therapists here tend to stay instead of bouncing from establishment to establishment. That tells you right there how good they are!

I had a chuckle reading the 1 star reviews - honestly many seem to be attempts at just extorting refunds or free services from TTW, or someone has an axe to grind on a personal level. This place is top notch, I can't take those reviews seriously at all.

Come see for yourself! Love TTW!!

Never had anything but the best of the best massages and spa treatments. We live to rent a pool/hot tub. With the remodel, these are very nice private hot pools with a perhaps an invigorating cool plunge pool and a sauna. Pretty views looking at the mountain side and if it's dark, fantastic night sky. Parking is a mess. Best to park below and hike up to the spa. Please ignore the phone team, their attitudes do not reflect the excellent service of the rest of the staff.

Simply amazing. Very relaxing and the contrast (during Feb) of cold air and hot spring water was amazing. Try out the sauna too. Overall a great experience and kid friendly, provided your children are fairly quiet and respectful of the other guests. One thing to note, if you do bring children the general spa area is clothing optional (tops only, bottoms required) so there may be some female guests who opted not to wear a top. It's pretty dark and there's lots of steam so your kids might not even notice but just wanted to warn in case you have an adolescent boy in your mix. There's an amazing restaurant adjacent so after a relaxing time at the spa you should treat yourself to their cuisine and maybe a hand crafted cocktail.

Ten thousand waves is very nice, as traditional Japanese bath as you will get in NM. Men have access to only one bath, while women have two. Despite this limited selection the service is very good and the property includes lodging, restaurant, and spa.

The public areas were really crowded. The private pool we had was fantastic! They have a spacious room with a shower, changing area and a sauna.
Room is open air area with a deck that overlooks the grounds. We were there at Christmas. The snow was magical. Getting out of the hot water enjoying the cold then into then the sauna was so invigorating! Loved it.

Not as many different kinds of Pools (with different mineral types) as Ojo Caliente (the only other spa in New Mexico I can really compare this place to) but 10k Wave's atmosphere is far superior. Very relaxing asian vibes with lots of greenery and koi ponds. And reasonably priced for general access. Highly recommend if you are in the area.

Such a beautiful, special place! Give yourself extra time up there to relax and take it all in. Private suites like Ichiban are nice because you can skip the locker room and take your dog. The waterfall by the restaurant entrace was heaven to sit by. I love the koi ponds too. Treatments there are expensive but great. I definitely recommend calling first to ask questions, make a plan and reservations.

I've gone here for years, but after my last visit I will only be doing the women's jacuzzi. No more massages, they are not worth it. Nor do I want to feel like I'm a # or cattle.

Massage Therapist - if massage is NOT your passion anymore, find a new place to work or a new career.

Owners - if you are not giving the therapist enough time between clients, shame on you...because it shows.

So disappointing. The massages use to be amazing here, not any more.

I have been enjoying Ten Thousand Waves Spa since 2004 every time I go to Santa Fe. The place has changed greatly since that time. The common pool area is larger but the amenities area still the same. Besides the spa there is lodging (no review since I have not stayed there) and a restaurant, Izanami. I find going here relaxing. They even have a mediation room. Prices are a little high but so is much of Santa Fe when it comes to spa services.

We had the best day here! We did the couples Buddha package and had a private tub, a wrap, and massages followed by drinks and dinner at the restaurant. Everyone here was so helpful and nice to us. We aren t used to snow so all light, fresh snow was a nice treat! the I think next time we come to Santa Fe we will stay here a night to finish our trip.

Wonderful spa experience in the mountains of Santa Fe! Very relaxing and a great day trip if you re visiting, I prefer to go in the cooler months or evenings.

Can be busy on weekends so be sure to make your massage appointments in advance. Sometimes if it s super busy they ll open the private baths to the public so there are more baths to enjoy with less people.

Booked a stay and full spa day here as a surprise for my sister's birthday and was not disappointed! The spa is very relaxing and we all had great services including nose to toes, deep stone massage, facial, etc. as well as a private bath in the Ichiban bath. The bath facility was great with two tubs and a sauna as well as showers, ice water, etc. We booked 90 min but an hour would have been enough. Because we booked over 3 hours, we got $36 vouchers to the restaurant and got to enjoy a nice dinner (izakaya style). The room we stayed in was the Sailor Moon room. It was super cute! It's small, but cozy with a huge two head shower, a day bed with twinkling starlights, outside hibachi grill/courtyard (which we didn't use since it was cold), TV, coffee, tea, fridge with a few drink choices, and a microwave. All in all, we definitely visit again!

I have been to numerous top notch spas around the world, and this was truly a WOW experience from the moment I walked in the door. So tranquil, so many extra perks not found at other spas, excellent staff that give phenomenal treatments!! And a lovely setting...the 4 hours flew by. The prices in gift shop, the shampoos and products they use are simply divine. The toilets are a magnificent treat in themselves, but you need to experience for yourselves!! GO!!

The locker rooms are EXTREMELY small with poor lighting. I had to go to the lobby to apply my makeup. The communal and women's hot tubs were nice and hot. There was construction noise during my stay. We were not told there would be renovation work. It was not a relaxing experience. My massage therapist was good. Overall I think the prices are inflated for what you get. I won't be going back.

My Wife and I have been coming to Santa Fe since 1...

My Wife and I have been coming to Santa Fe since 1992 and my sister who lives there turned us on to Ten Thousand Waves. We get to the spa and usually have a massage or a package treatment nearly every year. We have watched the facility grow and we really like the architecture and the intangible that that brings. Despite a robust growth in the facility's size, there has been no attention . to increasing the size of the locker rooms. I took my wife, son and daughter (both in college). The attention to MODESTY in the common areas and locker rooms is entirely absent. There were no less than 20 men in a locker room with two tiny benches. There were a lot of other families that brought their sons and daughters and I'm sure there was apprehension on the part of those young persons.
My wife took care of the reservations more than a month before the trip. She wanted the Lunch Special but was upsold to the Natural package, less the Salt Glow. Despite the web page indicating that a 10% discount applies to packages, including those that you customize, we were charged full retail. My services wer about 25 minutes shorter than my family's and there was no reasonable comfortable place to wait for them.
We stopped coming a few years ago, and would never do the men's communal spa as it seemed like a gay enclave. No complaint about the massage I got, but my son sure felt uncomfortable with his male therapist and is at an age where modesty matters. He would have preferred a female.

Incredible setting with beautiful Japanese architecture, garden, and overall vibe. Courteous staff go out of their way to ensure your comfort. The outdoor baths have a serene feel that is soothing to the body and spirit. There's an ambient temperature soak next to the hot water pools if you want to push your body ha ha. The locker rooms have secure digital locks and the shower provides pleasant, gentle shampoo, conditioner and body wash. While you wait there's a relaxation room and hot water foot soaks available. The restaurant and bar is a great time as well. Large sake selection. Nice izakaya style Japanese small plate tapas. A little spicier than usual Japanese fare. Probably a Santa Fe influence :) lt's an incredible experience that I highly recommend.

One of the most considerate places I have ever been: everyone is there to help you relax. Japanese politeness is a huge part of everything, and the focus on leaving material goods behind is great. They make sure you have to carry nothing with you, so you can truly get away. Spa treatments are phenomenal, best massage I've ever had possibly.

It is an absolutely gorgeous location. Zen gardens abound everywhere, and it's so well made. Also the rooms were amazing, pricey but easily worth it. Finally, Izanami (the restaurant) was incredible, huge sake list and tons of cool Asian fusion small plates.

Overall one of my favorite places in the world :)

This place is awesome. It s my second trip and the first time actually staying in one of the rooms. The rooms are nice but if you stay in the Luna room be aware that they have two small sun roof windows directly above the bed with no way to close them. At 5:45 the light is directed straight down on to where you rest your head. The rest of the room is dark but it s like a magnifying glass focusing the sun straight down onto where you rest your head. The bed is super comfortable and has plenty of pillows to cover your head and block out the light. Also, the air conditioner was so loud we had to download an app and put on white noise to cover up the squeaky oscillations of the AC. We will come back again but will probably avoid this room. Everything else including the staff are friendly and helpful. We are hoping to make this a yearly vacation.

Immersive, unique, fantastic staff, amazing location a great resort, highly recommended. Ten Thousand Waves is a jewel of a resort set in the beautiful mountainous area just above Santa Fe. The theme of the resort revolves around Japanese culture split between the lodging, spa, and dining. First and foremost, the staff in the office, housekeeping, spa, and restaurant were all consistently fabulous and key to the relaxing experience of the resort. We stayed in the Blue Moon suite, a lovely, three-room accommodation highlighting Japanese styling. The suite included: an expansive, comfy bed in the Japanese styling of firm and low; kimonos and sandals; plenty of bedding and blankets; private patio; fireplace/wood; microwave/fridge; fruit, milk, and granola; two sinks with plenty of vanity space; a nice shower; an electric toilet (heated seat!); a private parking spot; and more. The hilly property is beautifully landscaped and bisected with paths and dirt roads/parking. We enjoyed three trips to the spa for the Ofuro (spa suite), (Shoji) private tub, and massage. Hint: pair a trip to the Ofuro private spa suite with dining at Izanami for a fantastic, romantic experience with your sweetie. The spa is incredible, well run, and well-appointed in Japanese styling featuring soaking tubs, massage, and skin care. The restaurant, Izanami (covered in a separate review), is a great upscale izakaya dining focused on small plates of delectable goodness and a wide variety of sakes, teas, and beers. We ate at Izanami four times and loved it. The resort location is a quick drive to a wide variety of mountain/forest parks with hiking trails, the Santa Fe plaza, and Ski Santa Fe; there are also other northern New Mexico attractions just an hour or two drive away, such as the awesome Bandelier National Monument. You can visit Ten Thousand Waves for any mix of lodging, spa, and dining experiences; consider all three for an immersive experience and combine with some visits to local attractions. The costs at the resort are moderate to high but priced very reasonably to the quality of service. Overall, I rate Ten Thousand Waves as a great value for amazing staff, excellent services, immersive relaxation, outstanding location, and on-target pricing. Highly recommended one of the great resorts of the U.S.

I felt very taken care of by all the staff at Ten Thousand Waves. From Lodging, to the Spa, to Izanami, my experience was memorable and comfortable. The rooms were gorgeously decorated and luxuriously outfitted. Their Houses of the Moon are some of the best rooms I've ever stayed in anywhere! They keep them nice and clean and they always leave little Buddha chocolates for you on your bed. I highly recommend the Sailor Moon room for it's unique design and it's giant shower that can fit six people in it! The spa facilities were well maintained and taken care of, and the treatments were relaxing, refreshing, and revitalizing. The food at Izanami, though a bit on the pricey for the amount they gave you (at least for some of their dishes), was delicious and beautifully displayed! And no matter where I went they always tried to make me feel welcome and at home. I would definitely come back to Ten Thousand Waves, and plan to in the future!
