Michelle C. Torres-Grant Review of Ten Thousand Waves

A friend and I bought one of the day spa packages and it was a wonderful and relaxing day! We started out in private SPA areas, i.e. we each had our own. My private SPA area was called Ichiban, and it was amazing! There were two tubs (same temperature, but with varying depths, 1.5' & 2') set in a small, but beautiful private Japanese style garden. One wall of the garden faced the natural Pine Forest surrounding the spa resort, so as to incorporate the "borrowed landscape" into the design of the private space. Included in this outdoor space was a daybed (behind a sliding rice paper covered door) for resting and cooling off. In an enclosed space there was a Japanese style shower, a redwood sauna, and double sinks. Included were nice quality spa toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body wash). There was a separate water closet with a deluxe Japanese bidet style toilet that does *everything* for you (wash, temperature control, dry, etc.)! After 90 minutes of SPA cycling (shower, hot tub, lounge, sauna, repeat) we went to lunch at the SPA restaurant. I had the ramen, my friend had the bento box, and we shared the coconut panna cotta with fresh berries. I would say it was all "Very good," although not "The best" (all dishes) compared to what I've experienced elsewhere. The restaurant itself was very attractive, and the views of the surrounding wooded hills and New Mexican blue sky and white puffy clouds were dreamy. After lunch we had our SPA treatments which included a head & hair treatment with warm oil, a full body massage, and a foot massage. Ronan, my therapist, was excellent! All in all our experience was outstanding due to the good service, the design of the spaces, and the ambiance that was created. I look forward to spending time at Ten Thousand Waves during future visits to Santa Fe!
