One of the most mind-blowing places we've been to on our trip to Tokyo. I would recommend TeamLab Planets over this one if you have to chose between the two, but otherwise both should be on "Must visit" list. A little bit crowded, but so is everything worth visiting.

Have you ever found yourself staring at your computer and thinking Geez, I wish I was inside that Windows95 ScreenSaver ? Well, this museum would make your dream come true!! Cute animations on the walls of darkened corridors. The place is maze-like so you are never sure you saw it all. The simplest rooms are the most effective, but not really worth the hastle, price, and distance.

Interesting exhibition of immersive sound and video by teamlab. Many of the works are responsive to visitor interaction and they sit between Art and kitsch. The work is completely populist but seemingly this is by design as many of their projects exist in public spaces and are designed to engage a broad swath of viewers. The line is long to enter despite having tickets already and it s pretty crowded inside so prepare yourself for negotiating both the show and other visitors.

I must have spent three-plus hours here. Amazing digital art gallery with moving images projected onto every surface (walls, floor, ceiling). Many, many rooms to visit as the facility is huge. Expect lines for the LED lantern room and the suspended net upstairs where you can lie down and experience virtual nature.

Protip: come on a weekday to avoid the huge crowds. It's not as fun inside when you're elbow to elbow with exhibit-goers.

Beautiful concept and was fun, but there are huge lines/waiting times for the different activities as the place is MOBBED with people everywhere you turned. It might be better with a cap on the amount of people, maybe by introducing available dedicated time slots to reduce the numbers?

An incredible exhibit with a unique theme. Having the different animations be able to roam freely throughout the entire building is a spectacular idea, and what we should strive to mirror in our world. I was absolutely mesmerized by the beauty of this placenta and fully understand why it is so popular

Not worth it

The exhibition is quite pretty but theres so much people in there its not worth the price
Some rooms like forest of lanterns have up to 1 hour waiting line for entering in big groups for exactly 2 minutes then you have to get out
Almost everyone is here exclusively to take pictures so they will stand in the way
Also it's really loud so dont expect to experience the peacefull exhibitions
Maybe worth it if you go at opening hours but still really expensive

Hype, hype and more hype. Flashy projections and nothing else. Only the Athletic Forest was fun. Way to many people for this kind of exhibition, the effects described don't work as advertised. Waited 1h in lines INSIDE the exhibition. Staff was not friendly at all. In the end, for the "interaction experience" that you get, is totally not worth the 3200 ticket. Won't recommend.

An interesting experience for any tourist - located right next to Venus Fort and Palete Town, for the price it's a great trip for visuals and music immersion. This is not a great place for massive groups - small groups of two to four would be best. Some of it can be similar, and there are no maps - a frustrating and also understandable decision, but not conducive to quick exploring.

This event was pretty mindblowing. Amazing technology I highly reccomend it. Just be aware all the instructions are of course in Japanese although the staff are more than happy to assist you.

Mind-blowing! Truly a must see. These light installations take you away into a dream land you never want to leave. For young and for old, you could spend so many hours here and never get bored. Can't wait to go back again and find all the things I missed the first time. Can't wait for their next project too. Keep up the good work!

PICTURES DON T DO THIS JUSTICE

PICTURES DON T DO THIS JUSTICE
(Warning: Young adults from Central Florida, USA in for vacation) You ve probably seen the famous one of a small group of people standing on an elevated surface over projected waterfalls but that s just a mere sliver of this place. Words and photos don t do it justice. Just go!

DON T HIDE FROM THIS TOURIST DESTINATION
This was the second place we ran into the most number of English speakers (the first being the Robot Restaurant) but these were vastly different experiences (Robot Restaurant involved lots of loud, half-drunk Americans). Although crowds are sure to get in the way of your photo attempts, I was still able to enjoy the many different experiences offered at this location. It s amazing to see the many ways lights, mirrors, projections came together in so many ways.

WANDER ON YOUR OWN
There are no maps, and almost every square inch inside (including the hallways) is art. It s difficult to find the bathroom, relaxation room (where there is no art) or exit signs inside, but they do exist. You really are meant to just wander. A few exhibits involved getting in line to experience them, but during our visit, the longest line was just 15 minutes long. Families of curious kids keep an eye on them! Since all the lights are dimmed, it s very easy to have a child wander, and then they ll get lost in this literal art maze. We spent more than 2 hours inside.

This was an awesome experience. The line to get in (even for ticket holders) is long so factor that into your planning, but it moves quickly and efficiently. The exhibits themselves can get crowded, but overall everything is very organized and extremely well run. Each exhibit was unique and interesting, with options to both observe and interact.

Highly recommend the interactive tea house if you don't mind spending an addition 500 JPY

Overrated, super commercial and crowded.

Overrated, super commercial and crowded.

A museum that is made for taking photos. It is made for the screen. It looks better on screen.

There is not really a spatial quality.

Every artwork promises you that it will change when it touches your body. But they aren t really interacting.

For the room with the lanterns we waited for 40min in oder to be able to enter the room for just 3min!!!

Go early and buy your ticket in advance to to avoid long lines. Place is a little confusing to get to using public transportation and Google Maps doesn't provide the best way to get there. It's a little expensive but certainly worth it. Great place for family with various activities to do.

A very unique experience of digital art. You can buy tickets online. Go as early as possible to avoid the crowd. There are a lot of hidden rooms for you to explore. They have lockers for rent if you don't want to lug you bags inside. Highly recommended.

Go to the Planets exhibition instead. Much better experience, the tickets are sold for different time slots and there were no queues to wait in. By comparison, the Borderless experience was less stimulating, consisted mostly of waiting and was overall ruined by the sheer number of people. The art itself is nice, they do need to control how many people get in there though

I am so happy we missioned out here. This was such a beautiful experience. The art put me right in my happy place, I could have spent hours just being still in those rooms. The athletic garden was amazing for the kids, lots of opportunities to move with the art, to jump, climb, slide, draw, so much to do! We spent around 1.5h there, if child free would have been another hour or two. Highly recommend.

The exhibits were beautiful and we'll put together. Definitely a memorable experience. The one thing I didn't like was the extremely long lines. We got a reserved ticket and we had to stand in line outside for 30+ minutes and then stand in line inside for about 15 minutes more. Once inside it was a bit crowded and there were two popular exibits that you had to stand in another line for 40 minutes to get into. We were unaware that it would be so busy once inside and we were unable to see both popular exibits, which was a huge disappoinment.

A great experience. I strongly reccomend it. Truly a amazing, a great well thought out exhibit. Even have a area for the kids. What they draw shows up in the exhibit in the kids area. Also an athletic area. Wear good shoes, not heels or sandals. Floor is uneven in places. It's real dark so people do bump into and step on feet.

Amazing! Bring your camera and be sure to book tickets in advance. There is a very long wait to get into the lantern infinity room section once inside. There are no maps and very little instructions given so be sure to take your time and explore as some rooms are hidden.

Amazing experience. A definite must see for tourists and make sure to take your time exploring all areas. Would advise reading the signs for each display as they contain info on how the display changes depending on the crowd actions.

nice museum but it s ok. great for kids. i am giving one less star because the entrance is very badly indicated.
recommended : stop by the tea bar inside and the more you drink from your cup tje more the flowers images projected your cup bloom!!!

All in all, pretty OK experience. Since most people buy the tickets beforehand - hang in there even if the line seems impossibly long outside! We waited less than 40, moved consistently, and got in. From there, the tea room and forest of flowers and faces were cool. Floating nest was an hour wait and straight up not worth it.

One of the coolest museums out there! Buy your tickets online in advance as they do sell out. Give yourself at least 2 hours, preferably more to explore. Pictures and videos do not do this place justice. Wear flat shoes and pants, though you can borrow shoes and a wrap around skirt if necessary (several glass floors and uneven terrain for heels). A few rooms had a wait time. The lighter coloring your clothing, the more things will show up on you :)

Spent hours here. Everything was beautiful and there were many interactive exhibits. Went around noon so it was very crowded but lines moved swiftly. Lantern room was a favorite but you only get about a minute inside because of its popularity

An awesome experience mixing sound and visuals, with a lot of immersive and interactive art, highly recommended. You need to book tickets in advance, and well in advance at that - fortunately this can be done online and in English as well, so look at doing it before you arrive in Japan. It opens at 10 on weekends, but arriving at 9.30 is a good idea to ensure you're not stuck waiting in a queue for ages. I spent five hours there and didn't manage to see it all, so set aside at least most of your day to do it. Furthermore, I recommend finding the exhibits that require queuing and doing them first, so you don't have to spend 45 minutes waiting inside. It is good for children for the most part, some of it may be scary for very young children, however on the whole they should enjoy it - though you may not spend five hours there if accompanying children. The athletic forest which is just before the exit is great for kids, featuring all kinds of kids activities and things to play on/with, while still having the digital art flavour of the rest of the museum. Finally I recommend the cafe, though not with children. It only does matcha green tea, for 500 yen a pop, but you will not be disappointed by the light show that accompanies it. A must do in Tokyo

buy your tickets online with time, (i mean days or weeks), before going.
it can get really crowded but that doesnt make the experience less joyful, the place is incredibly cool, very different to anything else i had seen before, it is full of color and mysteries, perfect for kids and adults, i walked around for nearly 4 hours and didnt get to see all the rooms, it has many secret rooms and some keep changing so it is easy to get lost and loose sense of time. the rooms and halls have sounds and sometimes music but i was glad i had my headphones with me.
also, eat before going cause there is no restaurant inside, they have free lockers, and also chains with locks to secure things that dont fit inside the lockers, like suitcases.
after leaving i felt that the price was fair.

An amazing experience! After entering you are encouraged to explore as some areas are a little hard to find, this was great advice and we enjoyed the surprise of finding a new area that was hidden away in a corner that otherwise we would have missed. It was a real sensory experience with all the sound and lights. There were many different areas all with different experiences. One of my favourite was the room with the hanging lights that synchronised with the music to simulate a (digital) storm. It's a family friendly place with even more interactive opportunities for kids in the final upper area.
This was a real treat! I would recommend that everyone experience it!

*WARNING* Please remember to buy your tickets BEFORE planning a trip and coming over just for this, as you cannot currently purchase tickets on the door.

Okay so, this place was stunning. Me and my girlfriend were already over in Tokyo this week, and happened to see an ad for it on Facebook that it had just opened, and bought some tickets for it, and we're so happy we did. The place is really breathtaking, and no photos I post can do it justice, but I'd say if you like a lot of the endless mirror type of stuff, this place is perfect for you. There are some fun interactive exhibits, and only 2 exhibits you needed to wait in line for, which only took like 20 minutes tops.

Also worth noting that I have seen some complaints about finding the place, but we found it to be incredibly well signposted from Tokyo Teleport station all the way to the location. There were plenty of signs and arrows telling you where to go, and as long as you follow those it's difficult to get lost! You also pass through the completely free Toyota museum on your way, if you want something else to do, but if in doubt, just head for the Ferris Wheel, as it is directly next to that.

All in all, I would completely recommend this place if you are in Tokyo at the time, and even just to kill 2 hours or so it was really nice!

It s awesome to wander, explore and discover and feel like a kid all over again! It s dark and fun with all the beautiful installation! It just get a little confusing sometimes because this place has no map and that s what unique about it! The only thing is that it s really crowded and can be tricky to take a nice photo. There s also a room with the beautiful lanterns exhibition but the queue was too long we didn t go for it. Singapore s Art Science Museum is done by teamLab but the one in Tokyo took it to the next level. It s worth a visit if U re in Tokyo!

Great stop for an amazing experience in Tokyo. Some minor drawbacks include large lines, so get there early, and not very convenient via Train. But overall very worth it don't miss this one.

This place is Mesmerising. It is suited for all age groups. There are some art displays where the land is not leveled, also, yo have lie down on a hammock kind of thing for one art display, so I recommend wearing comfortable shoes. Some rooms have a long waiting queue, we had to wait for around 1 hour for one.

I thought that this was a Breathtaking exhibition. I would especially recommend it if one likes projection mapping. BUT, there were more than a few problems here. The exhibition needed at least a couple of hours to be thoroughly enjoyed. There were no directions or maps, which is done to encourage free roaming. However, chances are that, because of this design choice, one is going to miss a room or two. A few of the exhibits require you to wait in line and have a limited viewing time due to affluence, which was not advertised. The staff was efficient, friendly and courteous but they felt a bit "robotic", and they failed to give simple suggestions that would have made the visit more enjoyable. Overall, I think this exhibition is a great idea with a poor execution.

The museum of instagram opportunities! Long lines for entry but it moves quickly, once inside you are free to explore the vast warehouse spaces in any order, it s easy to get disorientated so make sure you explore fully or you might miss a room. Drop back in to spaces you already saw as the displays change regularly. Lots to see and interact with, could use some more interpretation.

Wonderful experience, great for all ages. Plan to spend a lot of time here, there is so much to do. There are areas to observe and areas to play and get active. There is no re-entry, so bring something, or there is a cafe by the active forest. Lots of stairs and some things are physically demanding, but that is the charm of this place. It kept my 5 year old well entertained and wore him out! I will definetly go again and bring family and children.

I heard that this was a "Must See" so I went there and unfortunately it was sold out. I had to buy my ticket online and I'm glad I did because when I got there I was blown away! It felt. Like I was in a magical world! I won't say too much and let you experience it but i'll give you an advice... Buy ticket online and go there early or be ready for a long line up to get inside!

Resevervations needed! It s kind of a modern art museum, which digital installations in different rooms. Very impressive works and something totally different to a normal museum. It s worth to see it once, even it s not so cheap (3,400 Yen). There is a second TeamLab in Tokyo (the exhibitions are in some more cities in the world) which is not as spectacular as that one. So if you have the choice (tickets in that one are faster gone that in TeamLab PLANETS) take this one.

the place is so good but the staff in this place is not disabled friendly, my aunt just have a sit in the empty area, and a staff there says "no chair" i said shes foot is sick and he just said "no chair", dumb man there! here's i upload the place that he work.

Wow...okay, so this definitely was in the top 3 experiences that we had during our 7 day Tokyo trip. Staff was organized and the crowd control exceeded our expectations by limiting it so you can truly explore/experience the space. Our toddler had a blast roaming freely (within reach) and keeps talking about the experience. If you happen upon this and you are on the fence about going like we were the photos that you can take and the overall exhibit create a remarkable experience.

Absolutely awesome experience. A must see if you're staying in Tokyo. The line to get in can be long however you can spend hours inside (we spent ~4) making it well worth the wait and admission price. Make sure you don't leave without checking out all the interactive exhibits upstairs as we nearly made that mistake!

Overcrowded, overpriced and overrated. 1.5hrs wait time to see some rooms is completely unacceptable. Dont trust the website pictures, It s as crowded as Shinjuku Station. You can tell it s not a Japanese compony which puts reasonable caps on entry like the Ghibli museum.

A nice place to take pictures! Althoigh you are not alloe ti ise slefiesticks, tripod, or a stabilizer inside. Kids will enjoy this place. The cafe was a great experience although the taste of the matcha was very mediocre! There might be a long line if you enter at night time. Overall, it was a not bad experience

Wonderful experience. Get your tickets and go. It's that simple. There is so much to see and do here, even for kids.
It is very easy to get lost and turned around. Make sure you see everything. There are a lot of halls and door ways and stairs that will lead you to new areas outside of the main 3 rooms.
There will be lines for many of the exhibits, but they are all worth the wait. I spent about 4 hours here. So it will take a portion of your day.
If you are going to be taking pictures. Make sure your camera works well in low light environments

So much had been written about teamlab borderless online that you can simply Google to find out more. But really, make time to get to this experience when you are in Tokyo. You won't regret it.
