Excellent experience at sun island unique and unforgettable report .. all magnificent ..

The resort is very well maintained and the staff too is very cooperative. Overall a great experience.

I want to say that the island is very beautiful and clean.
I had a bad experience, because the first thing is that it is not a 4 star hotel. It is old and you can see the furniture and in the bathroom that they are old ...
The food there is not much variety (for a resort) there is hardly any fish and seafood, since you are on an island that is what you expect there to be.

I had a problem at reception, I wanted to go to another island with friends and they simply told me that I could not !!!! How? I am not imprisoned in the hotel, I am enjoying my vacations and I go where I want. My other hotel where I already had another reservation would need an email from Sun Island to be able to send me a boat to pick me up and they said that I could not go because that hotel was * CLOSED * I was surprised by the hard face of lying to me so that I would not leave, and telling me to cancel the other reservation and stay with them. It doesn't seem like ANYTHING professional to me. If you have a problem with them, be prepared to have a headache because they do not help you at all.

I WOULD NOT GO BACK!

We were there on 20.7 - 31.7 .. Despite the rainy season, it may have rained only 10 minutes. It was just indescribably beautiful. The staff were all super friendly. We will definitely go there again.

This is another world all together.. Paradise is here we had wonderful experience.. This is for the beach bungalows- well maintained resort, well mannered staff. We had best experience with the Spa, Scuba diving was beautiful, variety of food both for veg and non veg, drinks, fruits, desserts and so on! Concept of dedicated food tables was good.
Another part of the island was the water bungalows. Treat for your eyes You will fall in love with the beauty of the place.. we had good experience here as well specially with the Southern restuarant assigned for water bungalows.. Special thanks for Zakir the manager of this restuarant treated us with good surprises, Thank you . special star for this restuarant. Happy to visit again!

Was completely worth it. We loved the sunset beach villa better than water villa. Facilities were way better. Apart from luxury everything else were awesome in water villa. Disappointing with some late service but they tried to compensate that by providing a bottle of wine. Since we already had wine at out room the manager offered to waive off bike rental worth of 3 days. It would have been great if we had a chance to see some dolphins, we were unlucky regarding that. Overall it was a lifetime experience..!

Love this place, beautiful as are the staff. Only down fall were some of the other tourists, rude, rude. Really need to learn some respect, don't tell me language barrier makes you a rude person. Why oh why must some feel the need to cough up in front of everyone the spit in water? Disgusting. Nothing bad to say about sun island and its staff though.

I love the island environment and ideal for family holiday. The staffs were very friendly. Food excellent. Island itself is very well maintained and developed keeping its natural beauty un touched. Its crystal clear lagoon is amazing. Manta and shark feeding is very interesting. Children and adults enjoy taking pictures seeing feeding this friendly wild creatures.

Location and landscaping simply idyllic rocked by the sound of waves crashing on the coral reef. Flat very hard bedding, room not at all isolated phonically, restoration very spicy and can not enjoy Western choice, mainly Asian and Russian customers. No French staff !!

Fantastic island, indescribable sea, very clean, tidy village and bicycles to go around. I recommend the superior bungalow which in addition to having a beautiful private beach are well positioned. Avoid the all-inclusive that does not allow drinking in the two bars where there is free Wi-Fi.

As you surely know a loophole has reached Thomas Cook. Suddenly, arriving at the airport after 12 hours of flight, we are told that the hotel does not trust Thomas Cook customers following that ... And asks us to REPAY our stay, namely 2000 !!! Money that we do not have on us, on this the hotel refuses to take care of us!
Information to know we paid the agency in July it takes 3 hours of waiting where nothing is done so the hotel has decided to be wary of its customers ... We present confirmation of payment and all that is in our possession to resolve the situation nothing helps ...

In other words the hotel has found a way to double the price of the stay indeed, if we pay for our stay and after Neckermann sends them our money it is simple for them to say we have not received anything and so we would be the pigeons who will lose 2000 ...

At the beginning of the evening the hotel offers a solution that is to say to reduce the price ... Easy to say after we have been relocated (Minister of Tourism took care of us) ... Yes 30 or 50% of 2000 is still huge and we paid an ALL INCLUSIVE obviously that we do not walk with so much money on us ... We therefore refuse ...

Without the minister's intervention, this hotel would have let us sleep outside like dogs ... Dishonest method for a renowned hotel rather than offering to accommodate us and see what we can do on site. Moreover, it is the representatives of Neckermann and the Ministry of Tourism who communicate with us, not even the hotel !! We are treated like less than nothing! Is money more honest than us? Is this reason enough to make the holidays dirty? Does the money count more than the customer with our proof of payment? Very disappointed to be seen as just a way to make ends meet and not as a customer !!

Super island. Good choice of food for full board with buffet. Really kind Stuff, super clean rooms (cleaning twice daily). No mosquitos (They pest whole island every day).
Relativly big island, so you cant be bored fast.
Plus, only less than 1hour transfer from Male.

In comparison to my Mauritius, Thailand holiday: Poor service, parts of the beach are polluted by plastic bottles etc..( I guess most by russians and chineese), allinclusive is not all included, eat is nothing special and repeats every day,resorts stuff always offers some expensive food meals and other adventure excursions. Dinner in the main hall is crowded, loud and not a good atmosphere, servants are mostly not professional,

Great resort with really friendly staff. It's a "big island" with lots of activities if you want to do anything besides laying on the beach. A nice house reef where you can snorkel or dive.

The resort is very nice, food great and the staff well organized and always very helpful and kind. The island is beautiful and very well maintained.

Had amazing experience in Sun Island Resort.
Worth every penny spent here.
Try to book at least three days here including one day water villa.

Tips:
1)Try to enquire about your domestic transfers one day in advance even if you are going through some travel agent.

2) Take go pro and snorkeling kit with you (Rent it if you don't have one).

3)Go for shark feeding and other activities scheduled at 6.30 PM.

4)Not many options for Indian food lovers, so suggest you to read reviews before taking Full Board Meal option as there are other restaurant where you can pay and eat.

... I can only shake my head at all of these negative comments.

In general, not bad, but there are so many nuances that spoil the impression.

For example, breakfast starts from 7:30 to 10:00 (lasts 2 hours and 30 minutes). But lunch from 12:30 to 14:00 is only 1 hour 30 minutes. Do not have time before 14:00 in front of your nose will carry dishes. What basically happened to me. People, lunch can not last so little.
Photos and photographers are absolutely expensive, unprofessional and absolutely not adapted to the guests. 30 minutes as a gift turns into a favor from their side. Change photographers. And for Russian speakers, provide photographers who understand English and Russian as well. No flexibility. On the day when we were supposed to take pictures, it was raining, but by this time the reserved photo shoot had stopped. In general, he could go again. But in the end did not go. At the request to start a photo session at the appointed time due to the fact that we prepared, dressed, the women had to tinker with their hair to put it (and at high humidity it is extremely difficult) - the photographer said she would not go. The device can not get under the rain (which is not already) - this is the first excuse, and then that the photos will be dull because of the clouds - the second excuse. Take a photo of the offer today for 15 minutes and tomorrow another 15 minutes - and we are happy and you will already take a photo of it, in response - 30 minutes at a time and nothing else. As a result, the mood is spoiled and we refused to do a photo shoot at all. The conclusion is unreasonably high prices and the work of photographers do not cost half the price. In a word, non-professionals work.
The rooms are cleaned perfectly, towels on time put, but 3 days without shower gel, shampoo and liquid soap - this is strange, at least. Specially did not speak, to look, whether monitor it. As a result, I had to go and ask the receptionist in the lobby.
It would seem little things, but when you expect more from such a place, the little things start to annoy.
But the place itself is unmatched. Very beautiful!!

Island is good but location of island is not proper. You may loose 1 days of your holiday by late check in and early check out to commite for male airport by another domestic flight

One of the biggest island resort in the Maldives with mesmerising view across each corner. Maldives is the nation of islands. It's far from Male. You have to take a domestic flight of 30 min to Mamigili and then 10min speed boat ride to the Resort. No need to worry for transfer to resort as the hotel representative in Male international airport (Counter no: 16) will take care of your journey to resort.
Once you reached resort you will be amazed by the spectacular view of the resort. With crystal clear water and white sand beach, the scenic beauty is awesome , can't explain in word even if photo. Resort lobby area is big. Once your formalities done, they will take you straight to your room.
We have been there for three nights, where as first two night in Superior Beach Bungalow and the last night in water villa.
They allocate room no 237. Though it is a beach bungalow, but beach is far away from the room. You have to cross a farm land to see beach. After request, they changed my room to 155 for next day. Execellent service by Upama, to change the room. This room was awesome. Last day stay at water villa where we saw magnificent sun rise from the room. Everyone should spend at least a day in water villa. It was nice experience stay in water villa inside the sea. On the arrival day they show a little presentation about resort which was nicely presented by Upama.
They have different restrants. Main resturant is for all the guest except water bungalow. Southernstar resturant is for water bungalow. Wide range of food is available with excellent service. Special thanks to Sita and Krishna from main resturant and to Yazdhan from Southernstar resturant. They arrange nice cake on my wife's B'Day.
Resort have plenty of activities for you... few chargeable like scuba diving, water sport activities, etc and few are without any charges like Entertainment show on every night, other activities near pool, stingrays feeding, shark feeding, canoeing... etc.
We had awesome stay here and it is difficult to describe the experience in words.....

Holidays as a couple or with children. Bongalo very good side beach. Clean. The staff always smiling and available. The varied food. For me and I am quite difficult, for now everything is perfect. Just go into Maldive mode and have a rest. Merci

A good island, but not more than once it is worth a visit.

Travelled with Family - Stayed here 4 nights and 5 days.
2 Nights in Superior beach benglow and 2 nights in Water Villa.

There is nothing more I can ask ; A perfect Value for Money package.
We stayed
Best beaches , Best location private Island , Clear lagoons , White sand luxurious services and lots of activities .
You can explore the island , swim and snorkel , find lots of fishes . Sharks , Stingrays etc etc.
Good hospitality & Food
Lots of Activities available : Scuba diving, snorkeling, other water sports activities, Badminton, Board games, Football, Basket balle & a large swimming pool .
We all enjoed every bit of the moment- Kids loved this place a lot.

Beautiful and tt very helpful nothing to say about the numbers one

Good hospitality. Clear blue sea, almost like being in a large swimming pool. Lots of activities to keep you engaged for 3- 4 days or even more.
Indians (veg or non- veg) however will miss their spices very much. The food is quiet bland, probably to accomodate the international guests from the western hemisphere. Vegens have limited choices but can do reasonably with boiled / steamed vegetables, bread, rice, dal, we were fortunate to have even paratha/ roti one day.
To enjoy better you must know swimming, however if you dont you can still enjoy in the shallow waters which may extend about half to one mile from the beach

The food is delicious and there is a wide selection

All inclusive is recommended, as otherwise some costs for various drinks may be incurred, but is up to you.

The only two points that need to be improved are the additional costs for activities (with under very expensive ones) and the constant sales presentation for special events, which can get annoying after a while.

Otherwise, I highly recommend the resort, will definitely come back

Paradise exists! Although you are almost 18 hours on the road. We have been 11 days, and stayed in a water villa, just fantastic. Relax, good food and friendly staff. We will definitely go again.

Great place, good ambience.....paradise for Honeymooners. Hospitality is also nice.... Only negative I can say is the distance from Mali airport, you have to catch another flight from Mali to sun island which will almost take 1.5 hrs.

The greatest place I was in. Everything good in the restaurant where I got breakfast and dinner. Well-structured island, a holiday pacemaker. Revemim!

A beautiful hotel a beautiful beach.
Very good food and very nice and helpful staff. We had room service three times a day. And a beautiful house reef if that helps the people who come to snorkel . Another recommendation is the excursion: Big game Adventure morning trip. You get out there by motorboat or dhoni (a local boat)
To look for manta rays, turtles and a whale shark we saw everything on our trip. We also saw dolphins . However, you can also see mantas at the Italian restaurant from around 9:30 p.m.

Visited this Place in Maldives in early June 2019.

The Island is located at a distant place from the Male Airport.

The Journey-
After landing at Male Airport you have to board another flight at the local airport to reach the Island. After that you will have to board a speed boat which will take you to the resort.
The Journey consumes your one full day.

Feel of the Resort-
The resort is widely spread with good accommodations and has over water villas too. Many restaurants and water sports activities are available too. The environment is lush green with beach at the sides and the resort is very well maintained.

Food at the Resort-
Talking about Vegetarian options, they are very limited and doesn t suit the taste buds of Indians.

Buggy Service-
Extremely Pathetic service. In such a big resort with approximately 500 Rooms these people have just kept 2 buggies. Everytime you call for a buggy it takes approximately 45 minutes which kills the patience levels and spoils the whole mood.

Sports-
Has Table Tennis, Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, Lawn Tennis, Squash, Billiards and the Courts and Equipments are very well maintained

Cost-
Food and Drinks are heavily priced at the resort.

Drinking Water-
The resort doesn t serve normal RO Water. You will have to purchase Mineral Water Bottle except when you are eating a buffet at their restaurants

Staff at the Resort-
The Reception Staff needs a lot of training as they are very Slow and do not understand at once whatever is being communicated to them. Most of the time, the staff was found confused and busy with too many guests at a time leading to further slow service.

Activities-
Most of the scheduled activities were not conducted as scheduled during our Visit. The staff members are not themselves aware of the timings of various activities and different staff members use to inform different timings for the same activity.

Maldives beaches are great no matter which resort you visit. Resort is very family friendly. Great place for families with young children.

Bad Service, Amenities and scenic beauty as per the standards

My wife and a 6 month baby had been here expecting a leisure trip for 4 days. I must say the overall experience was stressful than leisure.

I will draft every detail so that the management can verify the information that I am providing.

My Flight reached airport at 3:35 PM and I had to wait in the airport for transfers till 8:30 PM (5 hours is heat)

and then I had chosen to stay 2 days in superior beach bunglow and 1 day in the water Bunglow. I was called to the reception by 2 for a checking and the room was not ready till 3:30 ( wasted 15 hrs just waiting for the room change ) and next day I get a letter in the morning stating I need to vacate the room by 10 AM. 2 hrs earlier than the mentioned checkout time !!!! Frustrating

The whole issue in the previous paragraph caused me to miss out on the scuba diving that I had booked for 3:00 in the evening which was one of the main reason I had chosen to visit Maldives .

Last and the worst of All it was my wifes Birthday and they were suppose to provide Wine and Cake . When I requested for the same calling the reception they said it can only be provided for next day dinner. and to my surprise they did not provide that on the dinner table but was kept in the room which was relished by ANTS.

will surely rate a 1 however rated a 2 as some of the waiters and drivers were good.

Food is of average quality nothing great about it.

This was my 29th March Check and 1st April Checkout.

Suggest this place if you don't expect service

It is a beautiful and quiet place
The rooms on the water are incredibly beautiful

The resort is like a dream come true.
It is a great place for a romantic getaway or honey moon.
The food is ok, nice variaty of dishes the only remark would be that if you want to eat sea food you need to pay extra for it as in the all inclusive buffet the offer is poor.
Room facilities are ok although not the 4 stars as in locations from Europe, but still we had all we needed (we stayed on a water villa).
My suggestion would be, even if you are an all inclusive customer, to prepare some extra cash for small things like extra water in the room, diffrent wine at dinner or coconut drinks.
You will see sharks and stingrays, magic sunsets and a living forest
All in all it is a very nice experience and we wish you all to have the chance to see this beauty at least once.
