Amazing snowboarding, great employees and an all around great experience!
Daughter's wedding. Could not ask for a more caring and professional staff.... They know how to do large groups... Food, atmosphere, personnel, and venues were clean classy comfortable and professional...
Great summer downhill mtb trails. Winter skiing is OK. Nothing out of this world.
My first visit to Surgarbush was for an ESC Downhill Race, the facility is very nice and their trails are pretty impressive. Definitely worth a visit.
Really love skiing here. I'm up here most weekends. Wide variety of beginners terrain (green) to extremely hard (double-diamond). The staff are all super friendly, the restaurants are great, and they have a ton of terrain! (111 trails, to be exact!)
Mountain looks great on map, but in reality only about half of trails and lifts were operating over major holiday weekend. Snow-making equipment is all over the mountain, but never seemed to be operating, even when temps below freezing. And wondering why Slide Brook Chair is rarely operating? That is a big plus to the resort, but not if Sugarbush rarely runs it. It seems like false advertising to show it given the high-priced lift tickets.
Great mtn , if you go say hi to Ethan on castle rock chairlift, that's my son
I really appreciate the electric vehicle chargers. Got a really snooty response from Stowe when I asked if I could charge up my car. Really makes a difference.
Sugarbush has been my home for years and I still love it. Lincoln Peak has a diverse collection of trails with some really nice woods trails and Castlerock is great if you don't run into the crowds. If you ski Mount Ellen then you can avoid the major crowds especially on holidays. They just started using RFID passes a couple years back and now they have the Ikon pass which is about the same price as before but now you can ski other mountains for free. The conditions are listed daily on their website however the season doesn't really kickoff until after New Years because it can get windy and icy and you need a solid base of snow even though they invested heavily in snow-making equipment. I really love Jay Peak too, it seems they get the best of the snowfall every time a storm hits and they have a gondola like Stowe but it's too far away. Killington reportedly has a lot more trails but with Mad River Glen right next to Mount Ellen and Lincoln, you can get plenty of different runs in.
Really enjoyed skiing here, but I found it strange that there wasn't much shopping/ restaurants at the base as well that there were no gondolas. Lots of trails, lots of fun.
Big beautiful mountain with smaller crowds. Friendly and helpful staff members.
Normally good. Hit a cold day and it was all just frozen hard pack that day.
Grooming was good.
Been skiing here since I could walk. Used to ski for GMVS at North. Seen the mountain develop and grow into an amazing weekend getaway beyond just a great east coast ski destination. Through and through a great mountain with lots of great restaurants nearby!!! Love that Lawson s brewery is open now too
Very expansive and varied terrain that's well groomed. Just a bit pricey...but that's why everything is new and well maintained
Great place to ski or snowboard, Mt. Ellen is definitely for the snowboarders, phenomenal terrain park. Friendly staff, great ski school, good weather, just a great place to stay for a few days.
Excellent lift system. Good terrain. Friendly vibe. Great deals for seniors.
One of my best friends had his wedding here, the entire party was well accommodated and the rooms were beautiful. This resort has expertise with hosting and it showed!
Great mix of resort style scale/amenities and Vermont value. Lincoln Peak can get a little busy, especially during holiday breaks, but Mt. Ellen usually has a mellow vibe combined with excellent terrain. There's usually a discount for Thursdays at Mt. Ellen, and buying 4-packs of tickets in the fall (but good all season) is a solid plan to save money. Dig around their website for details. And go see the annual Warren Miller ski movie for $20 and get a free day at Sugarbush (a lot of dates blacked out). Thank you Sugarbush for keeping access somewhat affordable!
$130 for a weekday lift ticket but they didn't bother to groom a single trail.
Nice resort. We were there presidents weekend so it was rather crowded. They handled it well though. Solid east coast location.
Resort was nice. Condos were very clean. Event staff could have been more helpful
Grew up spending 6 years here on our family March breaks. Great runs, snow conditions are always perfect. Lots of area to explore at different skill levels. Truly a remarkable place to spend a few days on the slopes.
Great ungroomed runs, more snow than almost any place in VT
I ve been skiing twice and both times were at Sugarbush. Their process is smooth and the mountain is beautiful. My daughter had a lot of fun in her beginner s class. The lounge is great but could use a bit updating. Food is decent. I ll definitely be back next winter.
Great mountain with some amazing views! The observation platform at the top was really cool. Had a great first experience!
Been making turns here since I was a kid.
I will continue to do so.
Great variety of terrain. Castle Rock is one of my favorites anywhere. Friendly staff and the place is immaculate.
Good resort for family outing, rental place near ski resort is inexpensive, and in walkable distance to lift. The snow is ok, they should open more trails on Thanksgiving as the whole up mountain are closed but the coverage looks ready to open. The snow making is not as good as killington as we ski both in two days.
I bought a hat at the store and the clerk's helped me pick out a good one. I bought milk at the cafeteria and the cashier rung it up real good. That was the extent of my visit and it was glorious.
Super fun. Was hot and foggy but they make sure you have a great time visiting regardless of conditions
Not a pleasant experience. Ski 20-30 times a year at 8-10+ different areas in the Northeast. 65+ years experience. I will not return. Encountered discourteous staff and unfriendly skiers in one day!
Great mountain. Local area not over developed. Can stay mountainside or in town (depending on what you want and want to pay)
Great lodge, great people, and to top it off great weather on the day
Excellent mountain for Skiing. Friendly staff, very fun trails. Lots of flat areas and moguls, so snowboarding isn't perfect, but 95% of people there ski anyways. Would recommend!
Great skiing. A lot of trails to keep you out skiing the whole day. I keep coming back.
The weather was perfect and everyone was very friendly and accommodating
This place is gorgeous. The surroundings are beautiful and serene, the building itself is rustic and romantic, and they have all the amenities you'd want from a resort. Pool, hot tub, restaurant (though that's so-so), even their own "general store." It's definitely an isolated area, but if you're looking to get away, this is the place to do it.
This season (2019/'20) my wife and I spent $1269 for our passes. Next year the only comparable pass available to us (Ikon) will cost $2,117. That is a 67% price increase - not coincidental that the 2020/'21 season will be the first under Alterra ownership.
Please don't insult our intelligence by offering the rebuttal that the Ikon roster has all this value. It's a dirty trick to eliminate a Sugarbush-only pass, plain and simple. This is the kind of corporate greed that has no place in Vermont or in our valley. Shame on you.
This place is massive. There are really two mountains. BTW if your going on a Thursday it is $30 for Mt. Ellen only. It's not really possible to hit the whole resort in a day. They have updated high speed quads and all the lifts go quick. There are upper mountain quads that help to spread people out. During the mid week it feels like you're alone on the hill. The lift staff are friendly. Keep in mind there are some flat zones for you snowboarders. The steep black trails are really fast and wide open, plenty of room to charge. The backs on the upper center mountain are bumped out and challenging. The glades are steep up there.
Too many people for the number of open lifts. Just wish there was more snow.
Super friendly staff. We had a great time despite terrible weather conditions. Multiple food options in the lodge, as well as Sugarbush Village and Waitsfield. I would not recommend driving here when it's snowy or wintry mix without at least 4WD or winter tires -- the roads are plowed, but they're still hilly and a bit small. There's reliable shuttles that go to a few hotels/condos and between Mt. Ellen and Lincoln Peak, and an app to track them called Transit.
The hotel isn't bad, there's not a whole lot to do in the area.
Big, bad and beautiful! One of the best New England ski resorts and definitely a quintessential skiing and snowboarding destination for those whose mantra is Ski the East!
With two separate mountains (each with a separate base but linked via a beautiful ride on the chair that runs between them) both at about 4,000 feet, Sugarbush offers vast amounts of all types of terrain and around 500-1,000 feet more true skiable vertical drop then almost every other decent mountain in the East, with only Whiteface offering more. (And again, at Sugarbush, it's actually skiable vertical drop, unlike the hyped up claims of supposed vertical drop some mountains make by subtracting their highest point from their lowest - even if you can't ski from one point to the other!!!)
Highly recommended!
Nice trails. Wish there was more powder, but that's not Sugarbush's fault. :)
Not enough snow making or grooming. Slow lifts. Really needs work to compete with other resorts in the area at it's price point.
Had a great time here. We went all the way to the top. Amazing view!
The conditions were OK. But the staff and resort was excellent.
Plenty of parking. Lovely resort. There was alot of new construction going so it there was more traffic than usual
Other than 1 powder day, I ve always had really bad ski day. It may be bad luck.
Great resort on a day that isn't crowded. Just park and walk right up to the mountains!
Changed a lot..first,time I have been here in decades.
We came to vermont to stay and ski at stowe. After hearing from the locals people about sugarbush we decided to give it a try. This mountain has amazing potential and is far superior than the surrounding mountains. Lift lines even on the weekends we handled well and we never waited over 5 minutes. The miuntain was meticulously maintained and the trails were amazing with some great expert terrain. Highly recommended!
One of my favorite places to visit. Staff is friendly and helpful. Not as much snow made as Stowe, but I feel like the quality and feel of Sugarbush has a better vibe
Awesome, very advanced place, skiingwise great people
Was horrified by the rude and disrespectful treatment by the staff at the bike rental shop. Acted like they were being inconvenienced when I asked for assistance and they had to put down their phones and get off their chairs. Didn t ask what we were looking for, had zero suggestions, gave us this old, beaten, filthy, non maintenances bike. Even though they literally did nothing to assist treated us like we did something wrong by walking in to the shop. Not sure why they rent bikes if they have no interest in helping people and an utter sustain for customers. Many other mountains in VT where you are treated with kindness & respect to explore (Burke, Killington etc), don t waste your time here.
Large resort with friendly staff! Lessons are great. I took three snowboarding lessons and enjoyed them all.
The best skiing around. Plenty of trails and wood areas to lose yourself.
Lots of well maintained trails with good ski conditions when we were there. Lift ticket was a radio frequency card you put in your left pocket to pass through lift line gates similar to the starting gate at the horse track.
A wonderful resort, the owners work very hard to create a safe and positive community and they constantly upgrade their infrastructure to stay up to date. They almost always have snow too. No night skiing is the only downside.
Beautiful resort, although some of the prices are a bit confiscatory. Best value in the place was the waffle stand!
Vast Appalachian resort with challenging terrain. They have RFID lifts which make the lines move faster. Plenty of lodges and warming huts scattered around the multiple peaks. Really enjoyed the Middle Earth trail. Got to hike along Vermont's Long Trail to access the Castle Rock peak despite the lift being closed. Great Job!
Package says buy ocktoberfest stay and get free lift ride but not true
$140 for a day ticket I will NEVER come back. No VT resident discounts... Most expensive day ticket I have ever purchased.
Went to the timbers recently for a business event. It was first rate
Great mountain. Awesome shuttle service. Beats the crowds at Killington.
