The lodge is an amazing slice of Austria nestled in the Green Mountains in Vermont. We stopped in for a drink at the bar. The staff was friendly, and the view is simply not to be believed. Earlier in the week we had stopped off at the beer hall, where the beer, food, and atmosphere were all wonderful. We would certainly be interested in lodging here in the future.
Had to check out the Trapp Family Lodge while I was visiting the area. It was a nice scenic drive to the top of the hill on a snowy evening. Stopped for a flight at the brewery which was very nice and includes a gift shop. Food looked great!
The staff is friendly and the Nordic and mountain bike trails are extensive and fun.
Cool history on the con Trapp family and a bierhall to end your day!
We just went to visit the location because we are fans of "The Sound of Music". There wasn't as much to do there as we had hoped, but it was nice nonetheless. We did not stay there, so I can't comment further on the accommodations.
Great place to run an ultramarathon! Miss Vermont was there volunteering and the trails were gorgeous.
A European-style hotel with a pleasant surrounding environment, the most beautiful flowers of many tulips, is a good place to relax. Baton! Recommended!
Visited in early fall. Really beautiful area. I didn't order anything particularly adventurous, but the burger was delicious and the fries were thick, golden, and the perfect texture. The beer was good too, but it was also Octoberfest at the time, so the selection may not be representative of their typical menu
What a view! Basically, they have a deli serving sandwiches and complementary fare, in addition to a delicious bakery serving a variety of cakes and pastries. Adjacent, they have the Trapp Brewery, which produces four different lagers. All of this on their family lodge property overlooking Stowe and the valley. It's a great place to relax and watch the sun set. I wasn't sure good the brews were going to be, but honestly all four are very strong, great beers. The Dunkel and Trosten are 2 darker varieties, and the Vienna and Hessel (not sure of last one) are blonde lagers. And they're all great beers! We went away with pastries and brews.
Beautiful views and grounds! Great amenities! The lodge food could've been better.
We only stopped by to sight see, but everyone was friendly and it was absolutely beautiful.
Had food in the lounge, it was great. View was beautiful!
Really nice place, summer and winter. Nice library.
Great Cross Country skiing along with snow shoeing. Also went to their new brewery they recently opened up, beautiful building and great food.
Went to visit. Nice gift shop and beautiful view. Lots of history.
The lodge is gorgeous, and the staff is great. It's very Europe-in-America (ex: their rooms include actual wood burning fireplaces, but there is no room service), so you'll either love it or say "I see what they did here, and it's great, but it's not my style". My wife and I love it :)
Family oriented with many conveniences and spacious comfortable rooms
Famous Trapp family lodge with excellent restaurant.
If you like the solemn beauty of snow covered tree and mountains then make your way here. It's a Robert Frost poem come to life.
Beautiful, but somewhat expensive. Snowshoeing and tour of lodge very nicely done.
I went to the Trapped Family Lodge to listen to a live concert. The setting was beautiful.
Well worth the trip staff is incredible and every part of experience has been great
I love it here! The food, activities, and especially the view are spectacular! The food is farm to table, there are two pools, a rock wall, a hot tub with the best view ever, a message area and many more activities. You can always stay busy and still be relaxed at the same time. The one problem is, that the rooms are a little dated and old, but I m pretty sure they are updating them as we speak.
Wonderful location, beautiful gardens and grounds. A bit too expensive for my taste though. If you can afford it I recommend it.
Cool location but the outside grounds are only open to guests.
Lunch at the Brew Haus with visiting family, flights and apps - great time
Very scenic but trails closed to walking and everything closes at 5pm except the beer hall. The beer hall interior was stunning and the beer fresh however the burger was very greasy.
Stunning setting overlooking the Stowe Valley. Fine lodging and activities, gift shop
I would make more out of their infamous linkage! Very little sign heritage or the von Trapp family. Without being tacky they could make more of it.
Beautiful views. Nice hiking trails. Did not stay at the resort but was definitely worth a visit.
Review just for the brewery. Beer and food were both good, however the food seemed a bit overpriced.
A sweet place in Vermont to learn the real story of the Von Trapp family
Beautiful location and amenities. The architectural details are the finest quality with lovely views from every window and courteous staff. The landscaping is stunning and there are exquisite fresh flower arrangements in every hallway and available corner, situated on antique side tables made in the old world quality style. The cuisine is excellent and the service is impeccable. The rooms looked clean and comfortable as well. An atmosphere of quiet and restful tranquility pervades the grounds. Worth a detour.
A taste of Austria in Vermont! Great rooms with a view! Brewery was great! And lots of fun activities to do Hiking, Sledding. Only problem is it is very pricy but its worth a visit!
The hills are alive and I didn't believe it until I got there.
First time guests at the Lodge. Wonderful staff, our King bed room was spotless and very cozy. Close drive to ski at Stowe. Also the hot tub was very enjoyable. First time snowshoers and truly enjoyed the well marked trails! Also the Bierhall Brewery tour was a winner! Each and every staff member we encountered was very attentive to our needs. The Kaffeehouse staff were the best! Great breakfasts and wonderful conversation! The only downside was overpriced and the $35.00 daily resort fee. Overall, we loved it!!
Insanely beautiful views! and the architecture was amazing. Buffet brunch was on point. 10/10 would stay again.
Beautiful lodge. Stowe is an amazing place. Definitely stay here if in Stowe, Vermont.
Beautiful building with amazingly scenic views in Stowe. Lots of things to do in the area as well.
We had our wedding here a few years ago and pop in for a visit every trip home. I can t say enough good things about this place. The rooms are amazing, the views and outdoor amenities are to die for and the food and drink in their restaurant and Beerhall are outrageously good.
Great place to visit.could see it getting old after a few days but we didn't stay the night
What a view
Great staff
Wonderful location beautiful scenery friendly staff....a MUST SEE
The sound of music lovers will enjoy their visit and the film with Miria,s memories of the family and world war 2.The walk into the woods to see chapel excellent visit. You visit the cemetry where the family is buried.SHMO
Great food, great rooms beautiful area. Rooms and entire hotel are always very clean and well maintained. We had problems with the temperature in our room this time so we checked in at the front desk. The maintenance guy almost beat ua back up. Great service. Will definitely stay again.
Wonderful Austrian themed hotel with a lot of history. Perfect for people of all ages and nature lovers.
Extensive trail network with trails that are always well groomed. Great place to work on hill climbing! Ski to the cabin by the summit of Round Top and get some hot chocolate or hot cider while warming by the fire. You can also ski right to the Kaffeehaus for breakfast or the von Trapp Brewery to celebrate an awesome day of skiing!
Only visited the Trapp Family Lodge for an hour or two for some sightseeing, but it was quite a beautiful place and the view is fantastic.
My parents bought timeshare in 1983. I have been coming here ever since. The Front Desk & Lodge has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Every year we have problems with the employees. They are either poorly trained, poorly paid or both. It is a beautiful property & we love the snowshoe trails & facilities. Management has never gotten there act together. We have Trapp stories to bring home every year about the "couldn't care less attitude". Ist World Problems, life goes on.
Wonderful atmosphere, superb food and fabulous mountain view.
Absolutely wonderful setting with beautiful villas, lovely lodge, excellent food, and a wide variety of fun activities. I loved the music in the meadow and the chamber music in an intimate setting in the lodge. I enjoyed the trails on the grounds and the access to Mt. Mansfield.
Wonderful facility, excellent dining. Like being in Austria. Views are breathtaking.
A classic Vermont Inn founded by one of the world's best-known singing families. The Trapp Family Lodge offers a classic Austrian style inn that's very clean but not new. It was re-constructed back in 1981. Lots of alpine feel, blonde oak, and images on the walls of concerts, movies and memorabilia from The Trapp Family's heyday. Although we stayed in one of the rooms that was not refurbished, the rooms are large and clean. They are, however, showing their age at least in the wing that has not been updated. The Trapps recently added a beer hall and a brewery on the property, and if you're into cross country skiing or snowshoeing it offers wonderful amenities. It's kid friendly and it's nearby to many of Stowe's attractions. However, if you're looking at being at the base of a downhill ski mountain, you might want to consider alternatives nearby. However, the resort does offer attractive packages that include discounts at Mount Mansfield and Stowe. While it's certainly not a cutting edge super-hipster resort, you can't go wrong with good food, friendly service and a clean atmosphere that's family-friendly. I give the accommodations, food and service a strong B+.
I did enjoy my stay, although I felt it was a little pricey. The rooms had been renovated fairly recently, so our room was very nice. We had Direct access to the outdoors where we could sit on the side lawn. We hung out in the pool for a bit and then spent time in the hot tub. We did walk about a mile down the road to the Beer House, which was a decent place to eat. When it was time to come back to the hotel they had the shuttle come and get us, it arrived in under 5 minutes. They had turned down our beds and left us chocolates along with a printed page describing events that were scheduled for the following day. There were nice Gardens and nice views of the surrounding mountains.
Very organized and beautiful. You don t even need to go to Stowe to visit, they have a lot of activities on the resort. So you can spend a lot of time on the resort and here s your vacation.
Automatically giving this place 5 stars for having a yoga studio in the fitness lodge :). It looks like there are plenty of great spa packages. The lodges are spacious and cozy.
If you grew up on the Sound of Music, this is a must-see. This is where they moved, chosen because the mountains are reminiscent of their native Austria. Show up, tour the grounds, gardens, and lower levels of the buildings, and eat at an authentic Austrian restaurant. Alternately, book a week stay and gain more in-depth knowledge. The Trapp family is still active around the area, you might run into them without even knowing it!
Guest houses are always wonderful. Big, clean well maintained. Fees have doubled over the past 12 years! I may be priced out soon. If you can afford the fees I strongly recommend the Guest houses!
