Sugarbush has been my home for years and I still love it. Lincoln Peak has a diverse collection of trails with some really nice woods trails and Castlerock is great if you don't run into the crowds. If you ski Mount Ellen then you can avoid the major crowds especially on holidays. They just started using RFID passes a couple years back and now they have the Ikon pass which is about the same price as before but now you can ski other mountains for free. The conditions are listed daily on their website however the season doesn't really kickoff until after New Years because it can get windy and icy and you need a solid base of snow even though they invested heavily in snow-making equipment. I really love Jay Peak too, it seems they get the best of the snowfall every time a storm hits and they have a gondola like Stowe but it's too far away. Killington reportedly has a lot more trails but with Mad River Glen right next to Mount Ellen and Lincoln, you can get plenty of different runs in.
