Thought I'd give Stubb's a shot while I'm here on business. The ribs looked good but we're average at best. The same can be said for the slaw but the greens were good but not great. To top this off I asked for wet naps and was told they were out. Maybe it's me but that should be something that should never run out at a BBQ place. Will not be back.

A bit overrated if you ask me. We went with a large group and the food was just ok. Not as legendary as everyone makes it out to be. The inside area was laid out a bit weird a felt a little stuffy. Service was so so. Probably not a bad spot to see an outdoor concert.

Went here for the Sunday Gospel Brunch and loved the atmosphere of the place. I wasn't too impressed with the actual BBQ food though and can't say I'd come back for just that reason alone. But the Brunch buffet was pretty good! (And just a little FYI if you've never been here, expect to be asked for money by the homeless people that hang out in the area as there are quite a few of them around)

Could not get enough food in my belly!!! I would recommend the family platter if you have a party of three or larger. Well worth the money. They even gave us extra meat in our to-go bags because we were showing a person from Cincinnati what real Texas BBQ tastes like

I love Stubbs. Tonight a couple workers noticed my 9 month pregnant belly and upgraded my husband a I to VIP for my comfort. It was amazing. The view was incredible; there was a real bathroom, free food and water, comfy couches and stools. My husband enjoyed the fast bar with no line. It was a wonderful experience and it was so friendly and considerate of Stubbs to do. I'm hooked on VIP now.

It was good but, as somebody else said, a bit pricey for the ration. Guess should've gone for the all you can eat. So instead of 4, for that gets a 3.

Great place to see a concert and maybe the only place in Austin you can get BBQ at 9pm.

Stubb's is a great spot for grabbing some barbecue for lunch if you're in the downtown area. You get lots of great food for a reasonable price, in a great rustic atmosphere. They've also got a stage downstairs and a larger venue out back, and have plenty of live music events in the evenings and on weekends.

having tried Stubbs sauces, I was expecting more. The bbq was mediocre at best, and not much of it...especially considering the price. Cool place, but seems to be all rep and atmosphere.

The BBQ at Stubb's is really good but it's not necessarily the best BBQ I've ever had. Their service is incredibly fast and they sat us down all at a table within 5 minutes.

Yeah, for live music great. For bbq in a city this good at bbq it's just alright. Not hatin' really, just saying they don't seem to want to compete on food. If you're here for music, eat! Just wouldn't go out of my way to eat here.

I am here on business. My colleague and I go for dinner. The bbq was average at best. A band starts playing downstairs. We order another beer while listening to the band and the bouncer comes over and says we have to pay the cover or leave. I said we spent over $100 and are just sitting here. He insisted we leave. Wow. What a dump. Will never go back and suggest you avoid this place.

Overall food was ok to me, but our waitress was horrible. Had to ask twice for napkins. I mean we're eating bbq, we shouldn't have had to ask for extra napkins. Asked for some wet wipes and never got them. Also was told the restaurant didn't have straws. But back to the server, she put the 3 of our checks together with out asking how we'd like them. When we told her we were separate, she asked "what did you have again?" I've never ever had a server who needed our order repeated after asking to separate the checks. Then she sat all 3 checks in the middle of the table. Didn't even hand them to us. And where she sat the checks on the table was a puddle of water from the drinks on the table.

Delicious, we were very satisfied with the food, with the beer, with the service and with the place, everyone told us that we should try to visit Austin and we gave the perfect place to taste such a rich variety of meats, if I have the opportunity. I want to come back.

This place is pretty good. I've seen a lot of shows here over the years, and this is the place where the bigger acts like to play. My biggest gripe is that the ground for the outdoor amphitheater is uneven. I've stood out there during several show and wondered how long I could keep favoring one leg before it fell asleep. Also, I think it would be beneficial for everyone if somehow the stage was raised a little bit more.
Onto the food - it's pretty good. It's not the best BBQ in town, but it is good. I've never really been all that impressed with their sauce. I like Rudy's sauce better. Anything you get here that is a cow product is going to be good. Pork or chicken - good but not incredible.
Where to start!
Where to start!
Sprite was good.
Was there as soon as they were open. I ordered a brisket sandwich with onion rings and potatoes salad. Total cost $17.81 without tip. $22 with tip.
I don't know why BBQ places don't do good sides. The onion rings were ok, ketchup bottle was on the table, but empty. BBQ itself was moist, but very little flavor, same with the potatoe salad, it was just there.
I guess the good part about this place is, I was by myself since wife at a medical convention, so I only had to pay for one person and the last, this is one place I wont have to worry about coming back too.

Big line; BBQ was just ok. We tried a bit of everything, and it was all ok. Of course, I'm from Texas and have a different litmus test for BBQ. The line is very long, and probably not worth the wait if you know what good BBQ should taste like... good atmosphere though and our server was nice. If you are from California, then this is your place.
really nice cozy venue!!
really nice cozy venue!!
there s parking right across the street (it s a little pricey but super convenient) and there s food trucks & restaurants nearby so you can get something to eat before the show (if you don t eat meat)

Food was not great. My order was wrong. It was corrected. Staff was nice. Mac and cheese was runny...like soup. Cobbler has a struesel like topping not a crust. Lastly, the menu said the cobbler was served with Blue Bell ice cream. A Texan knows BB, and this was no Blue Bell. I'm disappointed.

Gawd there meat is tough, their service is weak. Only good thing about them is the live music venue next door.
Seriously if you want BBQ, go to Coopers, or wait in line at Franklins.

This isn't my first, second, or even third choice for Bar-b-Que. It's just so competitive in Austin. What Stubbs does have going for it is the music venue. It's an outdoor venue that will hit the goldilocks zone for some music lovers in that it's not too big, but not too small. Stubbs also gets some great big time mainstream artists every once in awhile.

Just not that impressed. The brisket was dry and the chicken was unflattering in flavor. I guess they live off past success and ratings because only a few people were there for lunch.

Saw a show indoors for a band I've seen many times. Hardly any seating. Doors open at 9, opening act doesnt start until 10:45. Sound is not great, backing vocals barely audible. Just wasn't anything to make me want to ever see another show here.

Tried out the Sunday Gospel brunch. It was great food and music. They have a bloody mary bar! It is a little loud, so expect to yell across the table if you are wanting to talk. Buy tickets to guarantee your spot! Great brunch spot!

Great BBQ place. Everything was delicious and service was awesome and fast, even on a Saturday night around 8pm. Mashed sweet potatoes and peach cobbler was amazing! Live music too. Only downside, just like anywhere in downtown Austin, parking is way to hard to find, be prepared to walk several blocks.

Went here with some friends in town to experience two Texas things: Austin BBQ and Texas Music, and both were outstanding! It was nice to sit in a venue that's been a part of the Austin Music scene, as well as that authentic Austin vibe as well.
The staff was great, and once the bbq got to our table, it was really great. In my group of friends were a couple of people visiting from out of state, and they wanted to experience real Texas BBQ. It was nice to be able to have a good experience to send them home with.
The music venue is outdoor, which was a little dusty, but really a lot of fun.

Was showing some out-of-town friends the local Austin diggs and took them over to Stubb's. Sadly, this was immediately after talking to them (from CA) about how nice everyone was.
Long story short, we walked out after 15 minutes of being harassed by the "hostess" as well as the bartender - who also didn't have Deep Eddy's vodka...in Austin!
Paid for our overpriced and poorly mixed drinks and went to a different restaurant where they were able to see true southern hospitality.
Will never return and will always recommend the DOZENS of other, better BBQ joints within, literally, 20 minutes of this dump.

REAL REVIEW: This ain't no "gospel" brunch. Sure, there is music that sounds like R&B and soul - not even close to the definition of gospel music. Also, the singers were off key and it was not even close to entertaining. FOOD was alright. It was a little it like Golden Corral. Also, the coffee is $3.50.
IMPORTANT: If you are expecting something like House of Blues Gospel Brunch, you will be utterly disappointed. Also, when they saw "NO VIEW" OF THE band seats/table, they are not kidding. You are in a completely different room. They might as well play gospel music on the radio, and you wouldn't know the difference.

I don't know anything about the food, but Stubb's is my favorite music venue in Austin. It's always a really cool place to see live music. The way the stage is set up is sweet. The audience is on a hill. So everyone gets a good view. Sweet place for a concert.
