Nice little town, good to get gas and drinks but not much else
They have a nice place to eat here which is worth the effort to get there
Drafty, small, run-down rooms. Alleged heating does nothing (this was January), slept wearing down parka....Granted this is in a very remote place, but the vibe is run-down motel . Couldn t stand it for more than one night.
If staying in the valley, stay here. If there is no sandstorm, a brilliant view of the dunes. Take food with you. Breakfast in the ok restaurant. Room really good and also nice bathroom. Very clean!!
We waited a long time to be seated (expected) and then waited a long time for food (unexpected). Coffee was lukewarm not hot. There was a large group in our seating area so maybe this was a one-off experience. Food was decent but definitely not worth the wait.
It is located center of death vally and fantastic place i have visit ever
My room had 3 cockroaches hanging out w us all night :/
Death valley is awesome and the accommodation great. Rooms where chilled and food in the saloon very good and had a good price. Especially the long pool opening ours are fantastic to swim under the milky way in this great landscape! We would definitely stay again. Only drop of bitterness have been the bugs in the room, beside the small ones they informed us about we also had cockroach like bugs and spiders. Maybe this is due to the very special climate around but there should be a way to minimize them during cleaning process. (e.g. move the fridge)
A lifeline for those who pass through this desert, in addition to this place there are two more to sleep and that's enough ... rooms are not very big, but to rest they are just fine ... terrifying heat in the summer, but fortunately c is the climate ... nice restaurant and well stocked ... the pool is just fine, only that the water inside is really very hot ... we went in July ... nearby there is a place to get gas and a small shop ... the staff is very kind ...
As for the assortment of souvenirs, this one might be better than the visitor center.
I didn't stay here but wish I had. The rooms were reasonably priced. Very convenient to begin the sight seeing at the Dunes. Wifi was pretty strong in the parking lot if that helps.
Very lovely western themed restaurant, food was fairly good for the middle of nowhere, and reasonably priced for being the only restaurant in the area.
Service was friendly, though our server was somewhat forgetful.
Beautiful location, chambers where decent, good pool
Friendly service. Restraunt and bar attached. Gift shop at the hotel, and across the street at the gas station. Has pool. Rooms are dated and showers are water conserving being in Death Valley and all. Fire pit at night is a nice gathering place. Not many other options, so just book it and enjoy the experience.
Solid food and ambiance, would recommend stopping by.
Small room, but with air conditioning of course. Saloon and restaurant big and food good. General Store opposite.
The hotel is conveniently located with close proximity to a general store, gas station and a restaurant. The room looked clean looked enough but the sheets on the mattress had stains on them. The comforter was two small to accommodate two people in the same bed. The bathroom was clean. I love the soap and shampoo dispenser. The water pressure was on the lower end but not surprising given the hotel's location in the middle of nowhere. The biggest drawback though was the lack of wifi in the hotel. There was apparently wifi available at the restaurant and the lounge area but my efforts to connect were futile. This is a big deal given the Park's sparse and spotty internet service. Make sure to download offline maps of the park.
Room was comfy, clean. air conditioning worked which was a necessity for staying during the summer. Saloon food choices limited
Very nice rooms, and the staff is great. Visit the Saloon and enjoy. Very peaceful and beautiful!
Just visited the place as I was driving through death valley.
The only room available was one next to a "public" restroom. Extremely tiny and over priced. Certainly due to the fact that it's in the park.
Great location near the dunes and within driving distance of all the sights. Room was spacious and clean. Air conditioner was loud. Cell service was spotty and there was no Wi-Fi in the common spaces, as advertised. This was a BIG deal for us as some in my party needed it to work remotely and re-arrange flights because of the pandemic. The staff was not sympathetic or friendly, for that matter. This caused our sight-seeing to be severely altered to accommodate trips to Beatty for Wi-FI.
It was a cute little village. I did not stay at the lodge but I enjoyed passing through the town!
Perfect place to stop for affordable direct access to death valley
Great location and good restaurant but too noisy air conditioning
Small place. Didn't stay at hotel but looked nice, near the sand dunes.
Stayed at the campground for a couple of nights in the tent section towards the back. We got a lot of privacy by setting up in the brush. Water was clean and so were the facilities.
Friendly staff and nice location in Death Valley. The food in the restaurant was great.
Truly an oasis in the middle of the desert! And the pool is a true salvation with the heat of Death Valley. But the most beautiful thing without a doubt is the starry sky in the dark of that location. Very well stocked gift shop and very friendly staff
Great accommodating location to grab food/drinks or crash the night
We recently visited Death Valley and spent two nights at the Stovepipe Wells Hotel along Highway 190. This is a the only hotel option in the Stovepipe Wells Village so you take what you can get.
Room reservation was made around 4 months in advance directly on the hotel website. Email confirmations were received immediately and we were well received and allowed to check-in half an hour early upon arrival at the front desk. One night deposit was charged upon making our reservation. Final payment was made upon check-out.
Lobby is simple and attached to a small gift shop called Golden Nugget. There is a general market store across the street for basic snacks, drinks and petrol. The hotel includes a pretty good restaurant (Toll House) and saloon style bar. There is free parking just outside the rooms. You'll find ice-machine, a large swimming pool and fire pit seating area which is nice in the evenings.
Rooms are basic and a bit pricey for what you get. They include enough space for luggage, beds were ok. Not the most comfortable but after a tiring day of hiking, we were able to sleep just fine. Room includes a small desk and flat screen TV.
Bathroom is simple, no bar space for toiletries. Shower water pressure in our room was quite weak as well. The room have no wifi nor safe. A/C is loud and unfortunately turns on and off throughout the night. This woke us up quite a few times. Do bring and wear ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. Lighting in the room was just fine. Housekeeping brought us new water bottles but didn't clean room or take out trash.
In the end, the Stovepipe Wells hotel is ok if you want a relatively affordable place in the middle of the park. Not the greatest rooms in the world but good enough if you simply need a place to sleep in the evenings after long and hot days at Death Valley.
I was staying there with my wife and 6 month kid. On day off our check out are car broke down. When I wanted to call (no cellular connection there) road assistant they told to wait 6 hours up to 9 pm because they need phone to check in gusts. Be aware that if something will happen to you there staff will not help you. And place is in very remote location.
Dinner opens at 530. Decent selection for the middle of the desert.
Decent rooms. The diner is expensive and doesn't have much. Id suggest driving to furnace Creek for food. However if we are doing this again, might be easier to stay outside the park and drive in when needed.
Rooms were clean and comfortable. Restaurant was good, considering it's located in the middle of death valley, but nothing exceptional and rather pricey.
Real nice resort in the middle of death valley. Unfortunately we found a scorpion in the bathroom. :-(
We stayed for one night during our honeymoon on the road .. The only place to sleep inside the Death Valley .. Unique restaurant (good) and souvenir with gas pump (expensive) ..
Good affordable option with clean rooms and a nice restaurant.
Food and gifts are cheaper than Furnace Creek. Good place to take a break on the way into and out of death valley.
Have spent 2 nights there in June 2014.
The room was new and clean, there's nothing to complain about.
Very annoying was that there was no seating for the porch, not on demand.
Lying or standing? We borrowed chairs from the outside of the pool ...
Where else would you find a cool beverage and snappy conversation after surviving a near-death experience with a tour bus outside Stove Pipe then tumbling through the Devil's Cornfield?
Food was alright. Service was wonderful. Has a unique atmosphere.
Breakfast as a guest is a bit pricey but did i have a choice?
Stayed here for one night before starting a 3 day backpacking trip through Cottonwood and Marble canyons. Nice, clean rooms with well appointed bathrooms. Beds are not overly comfortable, but I got a sound night of sleep. Free WiFi in the area surrounding the saloon and restaurant. A great place to base your Death Valley adventures.
Great little gift store...a good spot for snacks and gasoline.
Hotel is nice, simple. Helpful staff, cold pool, and, quiet.
Loved this place. Rustic but with everything you need.
Clean and comfortable accommodations. Great location inside the park, with a restaurant, bar, store, gas station, and swimming pool.
Amazing little paradise in the extreme climate of Death Valley. We stayed at the campground and had full hookup. We could also use the pool for no extra costs. The village is great. Everything one might need is in short range. The general store, gas, restaurant, saloon. And great for watching the stars!
Nice Hotel. No internet connectivity - and no cell phone signal reaches this place. If you want your Smart Phone to catch a 3g or 4g signal - you have to go about 15 miles down the road. Beautiful seclusion ! .... great food in the restaurant !
I tried to book a room at the end of January. The only offer was $120 + tax.Very expensive.
Nice resort. We were on the campground (gravel), but the facilities that we could use were top.
I was surprised that soaking water came out of the shower. So the shampoo does not foam.
But considering this location it is enough to stay. Luxury is the enemy!
It is also interesting to explore the nearby sand dunes (Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes) and explore the Mosaic canyon. But please run away as soon as it seems that it will rain.
cute and welcoming. And above all comfortable to carry out the various stages in death Valley.
comfy, quiet room with a great view, it was everything we hoped for. We spent 4 nights there and enjoyed every one of 'em. Had some great food in the restaurant, and also some 'less than great' cuisine. Avoid their Pig 'n Puddin' and you should be okay.
Nice Motel. Road side room runner very well. Parcontre very very expensive .... but you are in the death valley .... Good restaurant at the hotel.
I was just passing through visiting the scenic and historical areas. I did not stay at the hotel, only visited their shops and restaurants
Stay last night, room was fine. Walls a bit thin can hear everything your neighbor was doing. Bit of road noise as we got a room fight off the road. But for in the middle of a dessert it was a good deal.
Food is great.. Priced reasonably. But service is very slow.
Perfect location for visiting the park. So you are going to pay for this. Bed are small, no wifi, ok bathroom, ko restaurant. Note to owners: when is windy the iron ring on the pole flag near the road hit the pole making a lot of noise!
