We recently visited Death Valley and spent two nights at the Stovepipe Wells Hotel along Highway 190. This is a the only hotel option in the Stovepipe Wells Village so you take what you can get.

Room reservation was made around 4 months in advance directly on the hotel website. Email confirmations were received immediately and we were well received and allowed to check-in half an hour early upon arrival at the front desk. One night deposit was charged upon making our reservation. Final payment was made upon check-out.

Lobby is simple and attached to a small gift shop called Golden Nugget. There is a general market store across the street for basic snacks, drinks and petrol. The hotel includes a pretty good restaurant (Toll House) and saloon style bar. There is free parking just outside the rooms. You'll find ice-machine, a large swimming pool and fire pit seating area which is nice in the evenings.

Rooms are basic and a bit pricey for what you get. They include enough space for luggage, beds were ok. Not the most comfortable but after a tiring day of hiking, we were able to sleep just fine. Room includes a small desk and flat screen TV.

Bathroom is simple, no bar space for toiletries. Shower water pressure in our room was quite weak as well. The room have no wifi nor safe. A/C is loud and unfortunately turns on and off throughout the night. This woke us up quite a few times. Do bring and wear ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. Lighting in the room was just fine. Housekeeping brought us new water bottles but didn't clean room or take out trash.

In the end, the Stovepipe Wells hotel is ok if you want a relatively affordable place in the middle of the park. Not the greatest rooms in the world but good enough if you simply need a place to sleep in the evenings after long and hot days at Death Valley.
