I had a great experience with Dustin in pre-owned sales. Called him from San Diego to check if a 328i advertised on the web was in stock. Told him what my price point was. He looked on the lot and found a better car for me, for a lower price! No haggling, just straightforward, up-front service. Drove up to Newport that night. Dustin pulled the car off the lot, cleaned it up and waited for us. Arrived at 8:30pm, test drove the car and took home the car that night. Dustin was laid back and easy going the whole time. During the paperwork process, brought up the fact that the price was higher than we discussed and he had already caught the mistake and corrected it. We were back in San Diego in less than 4 hours. I don't know about the other areas of this dealership - new car sales and service - but my pre-owned sales experience was perfect.

When I did an internet chat Tina said sorry I sell new cars and immediately ended the chat. How rude!!! When I called they put me in hold for 20 minutes then finally someone came on and asked if I was interested in a new or used BMW. When I told them I wanted accessories for my wife they laughed at me and said this isn't a Target. How rude!!!

I have a friend that works in BMW Finance so I knew what interest rate I was eligible for, what my trade in was worth, and what a fair price was for the car I wanted.
In law school they tell you to never ask a question you don t already know the answer to, so when I went into Sterling BMW and another dealership, I made sure I didn t. The difference between John at Sterling and the other dealership was that when John responded to my questions he was honest and straight forward and for that he earned my business.
At two points his manager Mike got involved and I almost walked out twice, but in the end even Mike was willing to work with me for which I m very appreciative.
My husband and I used to buy and lease our BMW s from Irvine BMW but yesterday they lost two lifelong customers to John Van Vliet at Sterling!
After catching BMW Irvine in a ton of lies and feeling like I did all the work to sell myself a car (not the other way around), I called John at Sterling. I could tell right away that he was a salesmen who truly wanted to earn my business and from that point forward he continued to be pleasant to work with.

I ve read a ridiculous amount of reviews on here how Sterling BMW is scamming their customers in both the sales side and service department and my story is no different.
I purchased a used BMW M3 from Sterling in January of 2015. It was preowned and had a warranty on it as well. When I did purchase the vehicle I decided to purchase an extra warranty option they had that would more inclusive than the warranty that came with the car. It cost an additional $4,500, but I was assured by the finance manager that this was perfect for a used BMW as they often have problems within the first couple years of ownership and anything I could think of could would be covered.
Unfortunately, that was not the case. I have had the vehicle in a few times for oil, fluid leaks. Of the 6 times I ve had leaks (all different areas,) not a single one was covered under warranty. Can you believe this? I ve argued with them over every single one of the leaks and pointed out in the contract how this should be covered. They always find some little way to get out of it and not cover the problem in question. So, a slightly used car, that was very expensive and a warranty that was EVEN MORE expensive, and I ve paid $9,000 in repairs all within 11 months.
The service department is such a scam at this dealership. I have started taking my vehicle up the freeway to the other dealership up at that auto mall. Their service department is much better to deal with and has helped go out of their way to get my warranty items covered. Good luck with your car and AVOID STERLING BMW LIKE THE PLAGUE.

Yes three times after my initial visit within the same week for mistakes made on their part. You don't take your car to the service shop and ask for a full diagnostic only to get your car back after $3,000 worth of repairs and have the computer system malfunction. Well they fixed the glitch and I was given my car back to find that they snapped my auxilary cable. A day later my climate control did not work. When I brought it back the third time service was slow, incompetent and treated me poorly. If you value your time and consider quality service when dealing with a vendor then I suggest you keep going to another BMW dealership. STERLING BMW HAS THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. This is the 5th BMW dealership I've bought, leased, or had service done at. They are hands down the worst when it comes to the service side of the BMW brand. I have been driving BMW's for 17 years for a reason- it is the ultimate driving machine. Every dealer I've worked with before Sterling took so much pride in providing and excellent car with excellent service. I'm not sure what Sterling prides themselves on, other than easily selling cars to the super wealthy people of Newport Beach. I can tell you with certainty that it is not service that they pride themselves on. Alex was a great salesman to work with in getting the car that I love, but I just cannot say the same about the customer service aspect after the purchase. It hurts me to say that I've even considered moving on from BMW cars as a whole because of the terrible service I receive every time I go to Sterling. I hope Sterling can take this feedback and change their ways to truly represent the BMW brand- because it surely is a great brand that Sterling is tainting with their poor service.

I've had to pay thousands in rental car fees as my car has been in the Shop for over 2 months now. insurance only covers 30 days. I'm in this position because Kevin dragged his feet in submitting the video of the accident to Mercury so they could start my claim. I purchased a BMW 2016 (CPO, just 14K miles) yesterday at 6PM and its instrument panel blackout today and I went to dealer to discuss that how can break with in 24 hours of purchase. They were very unprofessional and careless. One of the worst dealership I have experienced my life. I have been in touch with BMW USA corporate and see how they resolve this mess and audit them for the CPO inspection and other business code of conduct.

I received a call back from Mike and he was very helpful. He took down my address and mailed me a copy which I received in the mail. It may have taken a bit longer to receive this contract than I hoped but at the end the employees were helpful and nice! Glad to have worked with them and everything worked out in the end!
Purchased a vehicle back in July from here, and while my experience at the dealership was great- the floor sales workers were awesome and the bmw techs were friendly- I have had 0 luck getting in contact with anyone who can help me. The person who actually handled the sale, Kevin, sold me a warranty which he apparently could not do and he needed to change the contract. Honestly, not a big deal, overall he handled it well and sent a tech to me so I could sign the new contract (I like almost an hour away). The issue arises after the correction as I was never sent my new purchase agreement! It is now October and I have called him multiple times, emailed, and called the dealership but no one has helped me resolve this issue. I think due to covid everyone is very busy, but it has been awhile. I will update if it gets resolved.

My car buying experience was horrible from the time Giodanni reached out to me. Over the phone he implied that I should not be concerned with buying a CPO from BMW Sterling because the location had a lot of rich people that wouldn t allow bad business to be conducted. I made sure to mention that I had a 3rd party trade in. I asked what did I need to trade in the car besides the person whose name was on the loan. I was told the person (my spouse) would only need to sign paperwork. Nevertheless I continued to drive 2.5 hours to purchase the car because it was the car I wanted. Upon arrival giodanni greeted me and I asked normal questions about the car. Being that this was my first BMW my questions were very in depth about the car s features. He continuously responded in a condescending manner and even insulted me to say, this is not a Tucson, haha. During my test drive I continued to ask questions and noticed I wasn t getting in depth or staggered responses due to the fact my car sales man was texting memes. This was a complete turn off from my experience but I continued on. I came with a pre approval from my credit union and was told I absolutely had to get approved through Bmw. I called my bank to verify if this was true and said that it is not true and very unorthodox but it was up to me. Giodanni continued to tell me that my pre approval meant nothing because I could be a scammer. I then asked to talk to a manager and requested another car sales man. I was paired with Mike at this time. This is where things went even worse. I was told that in fact BMW does not accept third party trade in any longer and I had to be put on the trade in loan in order to trade in the car. I called my bank and after 2 hours I was able to remedy this issue. I was then pestered about a $250 true car coupon. After going back and forth about a minimal $250, the budged. At this point I was obviously upset and bothered, at no point is anyone asking me about my experience why I loved the car, how was my evening going...nothing! From the moment I walked in I was never even asked about my day, my drive of 2 hours, my family, nothing! I expected a much more luxury car buying experience but I was met with poor customer service and negligence. When I finally get to the finance portion to sign my paperwork I was met with up sales and rushed sales. I arrived at 5, they closed at 7 pm, I stayed until 10pm. I came in with knowing I wanted to purchase extended warranty but not from this location. Once they knew I wasn t buying warranty nor financing with BMW the finance gentleman (don t recall his name) as well rushed with a tinge of attitude. I was never given a lesson on how to even put my car in drive (first time bmw owner). Once outside with keys in hand to my X6, I asked where are the temporary tags. Mike looked for 1 min and told me I don t need tags on the car they would be mailed. Fast forward to the next morning at 9 am Mike calls a tad bit frantic to tell me I can t drive my car without tags and I need them. He asked if I could drive back 2 hours to get them. I said no because it wasn t due to my negligence. They sent a gentleman who arrived in 3 hours to put the tags on. I shared my disgust the mishandling of my purchase with the used car manager and he offered that if I was ever in town he would get my car detailed and fueled up with a loaner car of my choice. I said thank you but in actuality it doesn t correct the prejudice, unpreparedness, mishandling, and predatory sales behavior I experienced. I would NEVER recommend Sterling BMW to anyone. I m trying to get a lesson on my car at a different location, and possibly a warranty. And my car needs brakes after 2 weeks of purchase; go figure!

Not just what happens to be in stock or easy to get, if it's possible offered they will find a way to get it to you in the combination of other specs you want instead of talking you in to just settling for something that's on the spot to get a sale and talk up the positive idea of each different specification compared to what specifications you came in wanting, knowing most people are excited about their new aquisition and are easily talked into getting a different package, a feature they really didn't care for, not getting a system they wanted, an alternative color, or some times pushed as far as going with a totally different model, knowing they will most likely regret these decisions completely. So go to a place that cares about you and what you want, not just what's currently in stock to be forced on you using mental gymnastics that wears off by the time you get home and you don't remember how you ended up buying what you did.... ....

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! I have another update as of today 21 Sep 2018. The vehicle I bought from Sterling in May of 2016 now shows it was in involved in an accident prior to me purchasing it in May of 2016. This greatly depreciates a vehicle. How convenient it didn t show up on the CarFax they provided to me prior to purchasing their Certified Preowned BMW (CPO). Did they falsify the documents or not report the accident until they sold it to me? Either way I advise anyone to RUN, RUN, RUN from these guys. I bet their customer service department doesn t have a good answer for this.
I bought an out of state CPO M5 from this dealership. Upon delivery the car had a rattling noise and the paint had a lot of very noticeable imperfections. I first had the car checked out at my local BMW dealership, and they said there were some missing screws and bolts on the front undercarriage. The noise seemed to be better, but something still wasn't right. There was still a grinding noise present. After speaking to the shop foreman, they did confirm something wasn't right. As of now my car has been at my local dealership for two months getting a transmission clutch replacement along with various other items. I also was informed by my local dealership that the car I purchased had evidence of being modified and abused. How does a car like this receive a BMW stamp of approval?? From experience I will tell you that BMW "Certified Pre Owned" vehicles are not always checked and approved equally. Beware and steer clear of buying any used vehicles from Sterling. Bill and Bob were my sales representatives. *Update* Upon picking my car up from BMW Nashville after the transmission repairs were complete, my car ran much smoother than before. The technician working on my car noted that my car had a slow existing transmission leak for quite some time, and the transmission itself had a missing seal around the bell housing. The missing seal revealed that the car had been previously worked on or tampered with. After an over $7000 warranty repair the car runs much better. I hope that is the last of the issues I have with this car. Several BMW technicians pointed out that if proper Certified BMW inspection was conducted, this issue would have been caught during the inspection process. Looks Sterling up on Better Businesses Bureau to see how they are doing!
