Feels like you've walked back into the 50s. I felt like I would see Sinatra and Martin sitting in here. High leather-backed booths. Open grill so you can see your steak being prepared. Great salad bar. And our waiter was amazing. You could tell he knew his craft and actually respected the profession. A great place for a no-frills steak dinner. A great rememberance of dining out back when it wasn't about how many times they could turn over their tables.

The best place to take your out of town friends who demand a classic Texas cow feast. The steak is cooked on an open Mesquite grill, and you get to watch all the action. All this greatness plus wood paneling for under $30 per person. You can't beat it.

I was overcharged during lunch for a salad bar instead of the side salad I ordered and ate. When I confronted the manager and told him I was only going to pay for the cheaper side salad, HE THREATENED TO CALL THE POLICE AND HAVE ME ARRESTED. Avoid this restaurant like the plague!

Dunston s has great customer service and that goes a long way. I ordered the Grilled Salmon and Sweet Potato with salad bar, it was ok. However my Husband ordered the Steak cooked medium. But when he received it, it was cooked medium well and unseasoned.
But my biggest concern was after arriving home after the meal I immediately experienced diarrhea and cramps. Which in return makes me believe that the food that I consume was prepared incorrectly or not temp. Properly, so do I recommend this place ABSOLUTELY NOT

Basic old school steak house. Good prices, though not aged prime. But you can't expect prime at the priced. Older interior, but in good shape. If you want some steak, want a nice atmosphere, but don't want to pay top dollar, Dunstans is the place.

Steak house with a good flavor that does not burn your wallet.
Went for a 9 oz bacon wrapped filet and salmon. The salmon was a tad dry but flavorful. The 9 oz bacon wrapped steak cooked to medium was a decent cut with good flavor. At the price point, Dunstons is a great option.

Took family out for early Christmas meal. What an enjoyable dinner. Service was on point (Brad) took great care of us. Salad bar was fresh and well maintained, honey butter with bread was amazing and of course steaks were some of the best we ve had in DFW! Can t wait for our next visit. Keep up the great work.

They didn t have our reservation when we got there even though we showed them the confirmation, my ribeye should of been medium rare it came out well done his prime rib was cold she went to take the plate to reheat it and accidentally spilt it all over his lap and suit. The restaurant was old dirty and ran down.

Me and my friend was hungry and went to this place, steak was not seasoned, it was very tough, I think its frozen meat and noone told us, okra was cold, the waiter disappeared until to get paid, he didn't even bring the rolls, we had to ask another waiter. Only thing was okay is the salad bar.

I ve now been to both locations and would give each 5 stars.

Love the salad bar with many options, perfectly cooked steaks, baked potato with fixings, and soft dinner rolls.

I ll definitely be back the next time I m in Dallas.

Dunston's has a somewhat limited menu compared to many chain restaurants but the food was excellent with ample portions. The atmosphere is warm and intimate without being too stuffy or too casual.

Pricing is very reasonable in the low teens to the upper twenties for an entree. The wait staff was great, attentive but not intrusive. About the only criticism I had was the lack of a sweet potato side.

I would eat here again. Highly recommended!

Had our son s rehearsal at the Lover s Lane location and Durrell and his staff helped make a beautiful evening! We were able to bring our own decorations and dessert to personalize the banquet room. Thanks for the consistent great steaks for the last 50 years that we have been coming and for the great service and hospitality!

In Dallas for business and a colleague had us meet here for dinner. Steak and service are great. It's a bit smokey as they cook the steaks at a grill adjacent to the dining area. Keylime pie is good!

We've been to Dunston's several time and we know service is not their strong point, nor are good steaks but the salad bar is great, it's the reason we go back. This visit however, was exceptionally bad. Our server, Tex, was completely inept. We waited over an hour for our food and when it arrived the well done ribeye that my mother ordered was rare! I attempted to get Tex's attention several time but was ignored. Mom ate her fries while I ate my dinner. Tex never stopped by to see how our steaks were, nor did he ever refill a glass. When he finally did come over he brought the check! I informed him we would not be paying for the rare steak and he agreed to remove it.

Dunston's was fantastic! The atmosphere is great, dimly lit, easy going, nice attentive staff, with an open salad bar to create your own concoction just like you love it. Drinks were great, seats and tables were really comfortable. Unique and very interesting custom decor. We were seated near the grill which was another nice experience. The food was stellar! Steak was cooked just right, fresh off the log burning grill which gave it a fantastic taste. Sides were just as amazing and desert was scrumptious. Staff was very nice, attentive and well mannered. We look forward to returning on our next opportunity. Definitely a new favorite. Thank you Dunston's!!!

The food was okay, however the steak that I ordered medium was served to me with no pink in the middle. This place is very cheap for a steakhouse though, so keep your expectations realistic

Honestly, you get what you pay for. I frequent steak houses throughout the city and the price is about half what you would pay at a high end steak house. The quality is nowhere near Knife, Al Biernat's, or Nick and Sams, but its not bad. The restaurant does have an old feel to it, but I think that is part of the charm. It feels old and established. The salad bar isn't huge, but its only $6.00 and has most of what you would want. If you are looking for a steak somewhere between a food chain (applebees, chilis, etc) and Capital Grill, Dunston's isn't a bad choice.

Drove from Rockwall Texas to eat at this old Dallas steak house.
3 of our party ordered the new york strip
,all 3 steaks were grissley and only ate a portion. Called the mgr. He was arrogant and very defensive, and told me that's part of the meat business...after conferring with butchers
I would suggest that this Co.is using cow meat instead of steer meat as it is cheaper.
Save your money Golden Corral is 3 stars better.and only cost $8 instead of $25.

The inside reminds me of an old style steakhouse. You could smell the smoker the moment you enter the door. I ordered two naked burgers with bacon and cheese. It came out exactly as I ordered medium rare. And this is a picture of a two finger bourbon Texas style. Prices are crazy reasonable. I will return again

Straight out of the 80 s. Dark, fun local waitresses, dark wood panel walls, big furniture, and the classic salad bar. The food is good and a great place to get an old throw back meal.

Only a dunce eats at Dunstons. We placed an order through Postmates on 10/26/19 and the medium rare steaks we received were charred and cooked more than well done almost burnt. The meat taste like charcoal. There were also no side items delivered with the order. This was my first and last time eating at this establishment.

I went here for my mom's birthday lunch. Although the food was great the service wasn't that great. I didn't care for the waiter at all. My father's meal didn't come out until way after mine and my mom's meals so we were almost finished by the time his meal came out which made it very awkward. After they brought his meal we never saw the waiter again until the end when we were eating the cake we brought and that's when he was barely trying to refill our drinks. The busboy is the one who helped us with a to go box. The hostess and busboy were both very attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was nice. I just wished they would have done a better job serving us especially since it was a special occasion.

I've been a Dunston's devotee for many years now, and while their steaks were never great, they could be overlooked when preceded by the proper number of martinis.

But I have to finally call them on it and say that tonight's $28 10 oz. ribeye was nearly inedible due to the extreme amount of gristle and the fact that it was way overcooked.

Yes, I had my chance to speak my peace when asked how my dinner was, but it just wasn't the right time for me. And it was really not good.

Sorry, Dunston's.

Let's start with the positives. The salad bar was nice. Our waitress Taylor was nice. Everything else was bad. The location of the salad bar left a line that would get in the way of the servers playing food. The front door needs additional doors and heating. There was a stiff arctic chill that came over the entire front 2/3 of the restaurant everytime the doors opened. It was so bad I had to get them to put the steak back on the grill just to heat it back up. The steak was a $36 ribeye. It was bland, bland, bland. Absolutely NO seasoning or flavor. It was cooked over mesquite Wood but you could barely even taste it. My friends steak was extremely undercooked. This is supposed to be a steakhouse!! Not even close. Waffle House serves a better steak. I will not be back.
