Great food, cold beer, big salad bar and very good server. Reasonably priced.
Love this place. Especially when Taylor is the waitress!
Not a good experience. We had to get up and find fill our own water glasses, had to send bone in steak back 2x because not cooked properly, manager walked by table several times and never checked in. Salt Grass is a much better alternative.
Steak was cooked perfect, baked potato was great and perfect size, the asparagus was grilled just right and dirty rice was just ok.
Really nothing but enjoyable experiences here, I'll be back. Prices are appropriate for the quality.
Yum.
.old style steakhouse
It was delicious, and the service was, especially considering how busy they were!!
My only suggestion for improvement would be if they had blue cheese crumbles available either on the salad bar or available for purchase. We love blue cheese crumbles with steak!
But for real, go to Dunstons! It's really good!
My wife loves this place... great hospitality.... great food.....killer salad bar
Great place to eat! Service and food was amazing! Moderately priced! Highly recommend!
We came in late from out of town and didn't really know where to go. Enjoyed an EXCELLENT dinner. The salad was super fresh, blue cheese dressing was outstanding and the Ribeye and filet were amazing And "Slim", our server could not have been nicer . We enjoyed the atmosphere, comfortable booths, very clean. Would highly recommend. Five Stars!!!
Food was cold and over priced one piece of fish for 13 dollars is crazy
Wonderful. Steak was cooked perfect. Service great
An old world Texas steakhouse lives on with superb food and service
Oh my goodness the food the atmosphere, the service all excellent.
This last Tuesday before Christmas we went to Dunston's for lunch since we were in the area. First off, let me say I've been to both locations dozens of times. We like the Lovers location best. This time however we were really disappointed. I had the 12 oz. Strip and she had the 8 oz. strip. The only difference was that the 8 oz. was cut thinner. Both steaks were very tough. I was chewing and chewing. The waiter was not attentive, he appeared to be a person who works in the back and was just covering tables for lunch, needless to say we were't checked on at all. I even had to ask for my extra side half way through my meal. I would have just chalked it up to a bad day, except for paying the $26.00 for 12 ounces of chew. This will probably be the deal breaker for us and Dunston''s.
Best steak, great service... overall a wonderful experience!
Got there near five, it wasn't very busy. The staff was very welcoming and observant. The place has a cool atmosphere. Makes me feel like I in Nashville again.
They were a lot busier than on Sunday night but the service was good compared to what it could have been. If anyone has any question about liver and onions...get it here!!!!
My father in law has been going to Dunstons since 1968. Religiously having dinner there every other week. Recently the quality of the meat and especially the service has been well below acceptable. Dunston s was a place in Dallas that was a solid establishment with a fair price for a meal and it now that is not the case. My father in law is not an online user but I felt compelled to post this for him and he will not return to restaurant after his last meal there three weeks ago. Breaks his heart to see a Texas tradition fall so low, but the truth is sometimes the only thing that can change a restaurant s course to obsolescence
Lovely place. A sweet throwback to the fantastic 70's. The steaks are really great. They are well prepared with a subtle mesquite flavor, and who doesn't love a baked potato with all the fixings? Great service from gals who know their stuff. Who could ask for more?
Traditional Texas Steak House. Like Texas Road House if it wasn t commercialized
We visit Dunston s once a week and continue to love it every time. The old school feel, excellent service and great food are why.
Worst service I've ever had,not use to severing large party's had to wait for our table to be set up then wait over an hour for our dinner.Never again!!!.
Great service. The food was very good, especially the salad bar. Would highly recommend if you're in the area.
Awful! Ordered filets medium, came out medium rare and as much as we hate sending steaks back for a re-cook we did. Came back to the table chard, chewy, and not edible! Someone definitely has no clue how to cook a filet!! Giving a single star because of the sincerity of the wait staff and understanding their frustration with the cooks and management. Just because a restaurant has been open since 1955, should not give it the right to not care about the product they serve to their customers!
Visited this place for the first time for lunch and had the salmon and salad bar. Spent the afternoon visiting the restroom. I will not be going back.
I love the environment,servers and,especially the food!It is cozy as well.not noisy.
Always a great meal. Always great service. Something to be said about consistency. More than highly recommend. A+++++++++
Did not care to update hours online for New Year s Day instead thought posting a piece of paper on the door was sufficient.
Staff was inattentive starting with the hostesses. 4 Long island Teas were over 50 dollars. Got a 38 dollar bone in ribeye that had little flavor. Had to salt and pepper it heavily at the table because it did not seem as though they put any on it. My med rare was med well. (How you call yourself a steakhouse boasting an opening day in 1955, charge that for a steak and it not be right?) Tasted my friend's chicken fried steak. Worst one I have ever had. For what was paid versus experience and quality, I will cook the meal myself and be better off. Don't go. I almost asked for steak sauce for a 38 dollar ribeye. Have them 2 stars as the sides were good.
The wait staff was awesome. The cook needs some training. Half stick butter doesn't go on a baked potato. Also, when patrons can see you cooking, don't fling the food on the plate.
It was a great experience, great food and awesome bartender, named Wendy!!!
Duston s is a great place to dine and enjoy a evening out with friends or family. Lately service has become below standards, but food is still on point. Friday, July 6, friends and I dined in at the Lovers Lane location. We had the pleasure of Brandon being our waiter. He is the most unprofessional and rudest waiter in the business. Why a nice restaurant like Dunston s would keep Brandon on payroll. I recommend Dunston s, but upon arrival stay away from Brandon s section. Your dining experience will be the worst. After our meal we left, and we only left a 10% tip, due to poor service. If you had not been rude I normally tip 25%. The reason for the two stars is due to service.
What a great find this place was! The steaks were fantastic and we left completely stuffed!
5 star dining with classy dark atmosphere, old Dallas traditional steakhouse. Watch the steaks sizzle on the grill right in the open. Excellent prime rib if you come Friday or Saturday night. Highly recommended classic Dallas, Texas fare. Great service as well. A+
Poor service. Steak was way over cooked. Loved the butter beans otherwise I would never go back.
Consistently a great meal. I always get the 9 oz bacon wrapped filet, with a baked potato and the salad bar. If you skip the drink you can make it iut if there for under $20.
Surprisingly the best salad bar in town for the money.
Great food for a reasonable price. Their cinnamon honey butter is amazing. Like Frank's red hot sauce, I would put that sh#t on anything. The bacon wrapped filet was great with well seasoned broccoli. I will go again.
It's been over 8 months since I last had dinner here and wow what change for the bad first no more prime rib was told by waitress it was too expensive to stock .wow again and the so called 22 dollar steaks looks like they use the same vendor waffle house uses.please do the consumer a favor and call it quits
A perfect Sunday night dinner. The host (tall guy cant remember name) and Chase made sure our night was perfect. great food complemented by nonintrusive service which is a rare fine. definitely deserves to be in everyone's going out choice rotation
We had a birthday party for my sister there. It was all wonderful!
Been to Dallas twice over the last year and ate at Dunstons 3 times within these trips. Great steaks at very reasonable prices. Nice side options available and they have a solid salad bar. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Dallas or that live in the area. The staff is very friendly as well.
The steak was ok and our server Mark was nice. Nice old school atmosphere. I would recommend this place.
Very delicious. The staff was friendly and sociable. It has a good feel to it.
The waiter was great, sad to say the good wasn't......I have literally had better steaks off the stove top wish I could give a better review will not eat at this restaurant again
Dunston's is one of my old time favorites.... the Service is always friendly and the food tastes great. Here are some of their unique qualifiers for 5 stars.... the grape tomatoes from the salad bar have never disappointed, the fried pieces of bread are delicious, the home made rolls and their honey-butter are out of this world.... and the steaks are always cooked right and have a unique Dunston's flavor to them..... I always get the 5oz filet with a baked potato.... just the right amount of food at a very decent price !!!!
You can't beat the atmosphere and cocktails this location on Lover's Lane has. Reminds me of my hotel in Beverly Hills. Wonderful service.
My son introduced me to this place. And definently must visit again. Everything had great flavor.
Delish! Here visiting from out of town. Was a great choice.
Great food... Pork chops rock. Food came before our salad was finished, but the service was perfect. When they brought out ourr food, it was not what we expected BUT THEY REMADE BOTH ENTREES. yes
Customers are really important! Come visit this Texas tradition. You will not regret
The food is very good, I have eaten here before the steaks very good I would recommend this steak house to anyone enjoy good food
Came in from Virginia on a sales conference. Thought we would check out a local steakhouse. Tried the 16 oz bone in ribeye with baked potato, side salad. Steak was grisly and rarer than requested. Service was good.
So amazing!! Old school steakhouse! Great steaks. The cowboy charcuterie was fabulous. Classic decor!
Excellent steak and sides. Cooked exactly how I asked for it. Reasonable prices typical for steak. Yum
Beautiful old restaurant. Apparently I missed the world famous pot pie this afternoon.
Great service, great food what else can I say. As always my family and I enjoyed our meal!
Mesquite grilled Steaks that will keep you coming back every week. This hidden jem doesn't worry about trying too hard to make you feel like you are in a fancy restaurant, they focus on what's important, the food. The menu is simple and the food is delivered fast and perfect. Your wallet is safe here, great prices and a hearty meal. Perfect representation of what a steak house is meant to be.
Excellent service. Food was very good although portions were a little small especially being in Texas where everything is supposed to be bigger. I will definitely go back and would recommend to anyone. 5 star quality steak house with a laid back atmosphere.
Wonderful wood fire grilled steaks and incredible salad bar. Also mixed drinks in a friendly bar area.
Good lunch menu. Had the Texas quail w/ asparagus. David was our waiter and very attentive.
Inexpensive steaks and a large salad bar. But the furniture shows signs of age (as do the customers).
Ok but not the same Thanksgiving experience as in past
We always get the filet. It's delicious. The salad bar is excellent too. Not close to home but worth the drive.
Dunston s is mostly a neighborhood place. It's where people's parents went to eat for a fancy meal or special occasion back in the day. Today, the same families and their neighbors still frequent this longtime restaurant. They still flame grill their steaks and the smoke permeates the restaurant. The overall energy and gusto of the place is low and I'm not a fan of smelling like my dinner, so this is why I've given it a lower rating. They've done a little updating to the interior and upholstery, so it kind of hides the fact that it's going on 50 or so years. The food is reliably good, but it won't be something you write home about, unless your mom used to eat there. A familiar place with familiar faces, that still serves good food.
Bacon-wrapped filet was PERFECT! The ambiance cracks me up but it was a great experience with an amazing steak.
You travel back in time to the late 60s early 70s. Dark, in a good way, interior, old school decorated. Classic steakhouse. Great food.
Have been eating at Dunstons for many, many years. Always great steaks.
